here. i've had a soul-crushing few weeks at work. i have been responding in games where i was being interacted with but i havent been very proactive in pushing things along. i didn't bring as much work home with me tonight as i have been, so i can post and respond several times tonight. i should be relatively active tomorrow as well.

im also active on weekends but most other people arent.

I was going to start you guys off near the end of it. At least that is where the hook is... you can always choose to do something else.

I need to know what kind of connections you have with the gods, please PM me. There is much missing from all your background stories, especially since you are gestalt and 20th levels. But alas, just type up something and get it to me by tomorrow about which gods and how you are connected to them.

And a contact from your past that has been very connected to you.

as far as an NPC who was close and connected to Bertram, there was his father but he was mad and died when he experimented on himself.

If you want a living on, I will continue thinking on that.

For a closely related NPC, Edrukk (a high priest of Torag). The two met after a battle in which Bertram stopped by to help tend to the wounded and fortify defenses. This was back when Edrukk was an entry-level priest. Shocked and intrigued by Bertram's being and appearance, he sought to know more about this form of artifice the Maker had allowed. Edrukk is occasionally spoken ill of for associating with such a creature, but it is mostly considered harmless.

Seriously, I have never played any of my campaigns to level 20 before normally ends about level 13. In just one campaign did one character make it all the way through, always with 3 or more other PCs, but he interacted with over 200 NPCs that had major impact on him.

Think of contacts: Venture captains, high priests, merchants, nobles, royalty. People you worked for, organizations, etc. Where did you get your training? Are you all loners, do you not make relationships with others as you have grown in your levels? followers, worshipers, allies, friends, companions, enemies, pact brothers, nemesis?

well I have never played any adventure paths, so I (the player) don't really know any "venture captains" for one

and none of the campaigns I have played in otherwise ever got past lvl 6
other than one where you start at lvl 16 gestalt and don't advance and some 2e I played a while back

I could get started if I knew where the most construct/technology rich region was for one

Sorry folks that this thread/game has been going so slowly, I have actually been giving you guys time to act, or another player to act.

In my opinion striving after godhood will need a villian or massive plot to stop. Working on that now.

If you want to have a monster fight, there are options now. Others will be showing up later.

I have never DMed much past 15th level, it just seems like what I have thrown your direction just gets annihilated, perhaps that is the point, let alone this is rules light.

I am going to throw out a question: Where would you like to see this campaign go in a sentence or two. It is taking shape but I want your input as well. Any suggestions will be helpful.

I can understand your difficulty, games at this level are quite difficult to run.

In terms of where to go, I would say:

We should stop an ancient and powerful evil, or prevent the penultimate evil machinations thereof (perhaps they are trying to corrupt a god). Working so closely with such powerful magics and ancient eldritch machines should open plenty of doors to godhood.

The biggest problem you'll have is the gestalt rules. I strove to make a strong character in combat, but not an invulnerable character.

In order for there to be tension a character has to be killable, to that extent you will have to either out right break rules to kill some of us or threaten us, or wave god hands around.

I'd personally suggest somethings like epic/dr, high dr/-, plots regarding belief etc.

custom monsters, really really big epic monsters

send us at crazy stuff like half dragon jabberwocky with 10 druid lvls

or a plot to awaken rovagug with potential fight between us and his spawn

or fanafair the father of all linnorms maybe with a few bodyguards of half blue dragon ice linnorms who are in turn also wizards

A good tactic is something like imprisoning the fighter or barbarian inside of a force cage or similar and starving him out...

Tense, dramatic, no rule breaking....

I intentionally made a less-than-optimized character, because it was an idea that I wanted to use. Azulth is kickass in his area, but in a lot of other places he's not going to hang around long (thus, contingency plans to get the hell out).

As for where to go, please gods, an assassination... haha.
