Oberlin could likely carry it.

He has the intellect to pick it up at least, then we could figure out what to do with it.

As for barbarians...their world eventually dies. The world becomes more and more cramped as the vast territory that barbarians need to survive becomes more civilized. Barbarians eventually have to settle or die.

Now that is a wizard’s answer!

So what's our decision? Seal up the sword until we fully understand what to do seems to be the most direct answer for now, then back to Providence?

Sounds good to me. After we take the kids back of course.

My only concern is that the sword is a bit of a nuke. Anything that we did to secure it, save dropping the mountain on it, would be able to be undone by similar strength and persistence. Passive, dumb defense.

The only way to ensure that the sword remains secure is to place it in a stronghold with active guards and countermeasures over it.

Other option would be to have the tribes guard the mountain and kill anyone that might attempt to infiltrate it.

You know, it would probably be best if we give it to the Avengers. They'd know how to keep it away from Thanos. Oh wait, sorry, wrong world. (Plus, they've done a horrible job of keeping powerful objects away from Thanos) :P

Hey wait! Maybe we are the Avengers! And our job is to keep it safe from the world! Man that is so cool! ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist. Just got through watching Guardians of the Galaxy and it totally reminds me of the tesseract. :)

Me and the family are trying to get through all the movies - in order - before Avengers: End Game comes out.

Also, did you hear that there are 3 cities in America - New York, LA(I think), and somewhere else I can't remember - are showing ALL the movies in order starting April 23? With no breaks that is. That's insane. That's like 19 movies. A part of me does think it would be kinda cool. But I also know I'd miss a couple of movies due to falling asleep. There's just no way. It'd be pretty much impossible for me to sit in a movie theater for like... 40 hours or whatever. That's just way too insane for me. Maybe if I was 30 years younger. :P

I think just the lack of natural light would drive me crazy.

I once watched all three extended cuts of the Lord of the Rings film in one day.

We went breakfast, fellowship, lunch, two towers, dinner, return of the king...
Somebody got some beers for RotK and I fell asleep :(

Is it an artefact?

If not, you can just take a magic sword, even a clever one, to a smithy and reduce it to little pieces of slag.

You haven’t tried this yet.

There’s a smith in Drelev Fort. I think his name is Thanis? Thanas? Something like that.

Um, no. We are not putting the super powerful evil artifact in the hands on anyone whose name starts with Than-. ;)

Daaaang. No way I would've been able to pull that one off. Man that is a looooooong day. The 3 extended versions are longer than, like, NINE normal movies. ANY movies. :P

Lol! Yeah, no joke. Heck, I'm thinking if his name starts with a 'T', that that ought to be alarming enough. :)

Generally speaking, a magic item with an Ego/Int score only triggers if you attempt to handle or wield it. I would think we could use telekinesis or some such to get it in a box to transport it.

Also, I see no difference between sealing it in to a mountain, and guarding it with 'active guards and countermeasures'. We literally just took it from a tomb with active guards and countermeasures. Anyone who really wants it it will get it.

That said, if we aren't going to use it, then we should destroy it. Either way, we shouldn't let this hold us up too much, I would think.

"Ovinrbaane must be taken back to the fires from whence it was forged. It must be cast into the fire of Mt Doom. One of you must do this."

I would prefer bringing it in to leaving it in the wild.

Mal or Oberlin, is there a spell you could have on hand to protect whoever picks it up? Something that would let them reroll a failure? Or something to prevent possession, if that's what it would be considered?

My intention is to approach Marcel and Oberlin at Fort Drelev to join the Providence government so we have in character reasoning behind their sticking around.

Like I said, I favour not touching it at all.

Unseen servant?
Floating disk?
Telekenisis?
Mage hand?

Even if we want to take it, we don’t need to touch it.

Maybe put a big lump of stone on a cart drawn by shire horses.

Mage hand it onto the stone, stone shape to seal it away and then guard the horses as it is towed back.

Yeah me too. Hey, no worries, Kriger will carry it. He really wants to carry it and WIN!

No worries, we're going to do this right. Summon some giant eagles and bing-bang-boom; in and out in an hour.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

HA! You know, why didn't they do that in the FIRST place?! Man, would've been much simpler. :D

The short version of LotR. Only twenty minutes. I feel they could do the same for Marvel... Are there big eagles in Marvel?

M 13 Rogue (Unchained) hp 124/124 AC 27/18/21 F/R/W 11/18/9 Per 18 Stealth 30 SMo 12 Trap 6 Danger 4

Well, Marvel has a giant green man who tears all his shirts off, but never seems to rip his pants off, so giant eagles shouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.

I’m going to run a level 6 module, Broken Chains, on the boards.

I’m going to run it normally but for Pathfinder Society credit, so everyone involved needs to have, or get, a PFS ID number and name a character. It’s ten minutes work for those who aren’t into PFS.

You’ll play secret agents working for the Eagle Knights, trying to find a spy who has disappeared.

I’ve got two players so far, let me know if any of you are interested?

I would love to, thank you for the invite, but with Residency and kids I am currently strapped for time. I just got an hour to myself in a conference room to study because my patients are all stable, and I just want to fall asleep.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Hey, bud, I appreciate you asking. But I'm not really a fan of PFS play. It's just not my thing.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Also, I'm working on getting Kriger updated with the current WBL business. Hopefully I can get that finished over the next couple days.

Thanks for the invite, but my plate is full.

Ok, someone needs to make a decision about that sword. I'll move the story forward once this is clarified.

To be clear, I don't mind this taking time at all. It's an important decision.

I would vote for having Kriger take it and put it in his bag of endless holding. His +17 will save is tied for the best in our group.

Male Elf Cleric 13: AC 25, Hit Points 99/99, Perception +21, Initiative +8 Channels left 5/5 Current buffs: magic circle of PfE, comprehend languages

I could boost his save before he tries.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Hey! that's a good idea. That's what we'll do. Put in in the bag of endless holding. Good call.

And Kriger will take whatever help you can give him, Mal. And I don't think there is any possibility of 'too much' help. My guess is... he's probably gonna need ALL of it. :P

All I’ve got is Owl’s Wisdom, which gives a +2

Great, Kriger, please post in the game thread and give a Will save with some Owl's Wisdom.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Dang. Okay. It actually is only a +1 because I've already got a headband of wisdom. But I'll take it!

Congrats everyone, we've now reached Book 5. I'll try to get thing moving as soon as I can. In the meantime, there are a few things you should determine. In particular how Marcel and Oberlin will be joining your government.

Also, the whole settling and exploration will take about a year of work, in particular as your duchy is massively wide. If you feel like it, please feel free to flesh out some of the big things you want to start, for example, new towns, special roads, religious policies, multi-race policies, etc.

I'll also try to draw a tally of the main points about the duchy. Something manageable to understand Frieland.

Level 13 everyone!

I will need to know what roles will Marcel and Oberlin play in the Duchy.

13! excellent! Back to Hero Lab.I should remember this, but what's the HP rule? half +1?

We had agreed on half the die plus roll the other half: 1d8 = 4+1d4.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Really? 13? Sweet! Yep, definitely back to the herolab.

I know Kalsgrim has something for the newcomers in game but until then I would have to say that Marcel would hold the 'Spy' position and Oberlin would hold the 'Magister'.

Hp's: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I got to choose a new terrain. Don't suppose any of y'all have any suggestions?

The Narlmarches look like swamp so I thought about that one. Either that or Mountains I figure.

Probably lean toward swamp with how massive the Narlmarches are.

My intent is to leave the minions at home to run the temple and minister to the communities, rather than add sidekicks to the party.
