Ok, that was a very special round.

I forgot that dice rolls are preserved after editing. So without the rolls I made for Garick the bad guy would have rolled a nat 20 and confirmed a critcal for 44 damage. Least he's not dead now...

For those curious, in an alternate dimension only viewed by myself, Dorgar, and Set, Garick scores a critical hit on Rok killing him out right. The rest of the bandits break morale and basically fall out of the trees nearly killing themselves.

Grand Lodge

Sorry guys I had to do what I saw as the fair and right thing over the more beneficial thing. Stinking morals phooey!

M Human Cavalier /1st

its ok fate handed the duty to your brother next round.

Yeah, he's toast.

Get a flying mount. Ember's totally gonna have wings in a few levels, 'cause he's headed for the total 'red dragon' package.

[Yeah, not at all an optimized Eidolon. No tentacles or nothin.' I'm all about the theme!]

M Human Cavalier /1st

*tries to saddle Ember* I see a flying mount right there!

Yikes! I'm opting for range.

And in yet another alternative reality, Kal struck a hearty blow to the bandit, completely ignoring the nasty wound inflicted...

Sadly cavaliers are only limited to horses, and possibly camels.

Also about your Stealthing Corso. What you're trying to do would require the Shot on the Run feat. The reason for this is if people are observing you using any of their senses (but typically sight), you can't use Stealth. So first you would have to break complete line of sight by hiding behind something and by making a Bluff check to distract them. However doing this would block your view for shooting. So then you'd have to move out from behind that cover to attack, hence the need for Shot on the Run.

Or you can try a Snipe action that let's you use Stealth to immediately hide again with a -20.

I was thinking about having Kal Detect Evil, Smite Evil, and shoot his bow, but then the bad guy would have charged Servayn. I was hoping that the +4 deflection to Kal's AC with Smite Evil would protect him a bit more. It would also look a lot more heroic and cool...

Some dude

Servayn expresses his appreciation to Kal for taking that hit for him. Very noble of him. I promise to drink heavily at his wake.

:)

Sorry Mastermind, I hadn't read your post before posting my action for round 4. Since I rolled spectacularly low once again, it won't have an impact. I'll take a good look at the rules once at home and ask my questions a little later.

I've got a backup character sketched out for Kal. You know, just in case. :)

He should be back up at 2 hp after the CLW, and channel.

@Garick: AAremeth posted a question to Dorgar in the Falcon's Hollow OOC thread.

M Human Cavalier /1st

Hey scipion & Janku we play a falcon's hallow game on her as well that Garick is running, we had someone drop out early on and we were all wondering if you guys were interested in playing over there as well.

Janku initially I thought you were already playing with us over there, I don't know how, or who I thought you were as I know who the aliasi of the other guys are but I thought you were already involved.

if you are interested I can dig up where the char creation info is for ya.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Probably not, I'm just joining a d20 future game that's starting up.

M Human Cavalier /1st

Heh, I actually just glanced at that interest thread and saw a post of yours. well, In that case have fun and let us know if you change your mind.

M Human Cavalier /1st

I wanted to throw this out there as well. I am planning on running the free mod that is going to be given out on free game day. if you want to start rolling chars around in your heads( and are interested)

I'll be going with 25point buy or if you'd prefer to chance it with the dice you can do six sets of best 3d6 out of 4d6 reroll ones.(see example below) max class gold, 2 traits and a bonus feat if you have a decent background, the feat will have to tie into the background so keep that in mind. the guys in this and Falcons hallow get first shot. from there I may recruit from some other threads i'm in. and from there see if the masses are interested.

I hope to have six.

if you want to play, please don't read the mod until we are done with it, this will be my gm debut, so I may need some help along the way.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 2) = 9

reroll one1d6 ⇒ 3

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 4) = 17

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 2) = 10

reroll ones2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 6) = 17

4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 2) = 17

reroll one 1d6 ⇒ 2

ending with
9
14
16
11
13
15

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Any hint as to the level or theme of the mod?

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I've got this interesting idea for a dwarf wielding a large dwarven waraxe in both hands. Like how Amiri has a large bastard sword.

I'd love to jump in! I'm not sure about my schedule though...

When do you plan on running it?

I'd like to call dibs on an elven witch, looking a little like a baron Samedi.

M Human Cavalier /1st

From what I hear it is a mod that is a hook to get people intrested in PFs, so I think it will be 1-2, I don't really mind where we start so long as everyone is having fun, personally, I like to start from scratch but if everyone wants to start at 2 I'm good with it.

Both of those concepts sound interesting!

Trevor, if you are interestted I'm fine with, covering for you in your down time. its up to you.

pretty soon I think I will start my own ooc and stop swiping the hallows and km's. I'll post links.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I wonder if any of you are curious why the barbarian fell out of the tree...

M Human Cavalier /1st

as far as when I am going to run it, it comes out the 19th of june, so I'll take a couple days to read up on it and then start on the 21st or so, if we are all ready.

ooc for master of the fallen fortress.

lol, I was at the start of the fight, but I rang it up to being karma by the end of it.

if there was ever a hint, I think that was it.

To get to the other side?

Ba-dum-bum!

I was wondering why he felt that way. I just thought then that it was his way of getting in the fight.

Please enlighten me.

I have a lingering suspicion, having been a victim myself, that it may have been a local fey trickster... But if you don't mind, please do tell!

I'm going on a 3-day training, bringing my computer, but I don't know if they'll have internet access over there, and how often.

Feel free to puppet my pc if you're waiting for me.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Sure thing. I actually got carried away with a game last night when I was planning on posting and when we finished it was two in the morning Q_Q

The hotel has a good internet connection.

Btw, you still haven't told why he fell...

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Yeah, just wondering if anyone was curious. Mysterious laughter, rain of bandits, crazy things ;)

You are a tease!

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I didn't think it was possible, but you guys just missed a hidden item. Don't worry though, I'll give you a reason to come back to that hex and investigate further. It's not really useful until the second book anyways.

M Human Cavalier /1st

LOL! that's pretty funny. Drogar accused the falcon's hallow group of being the most uninterested in loot adventures he has ever seen.

*tries to imagine the reason that could be given to go back and randomly climb a tree.*

if we climb that tree and its a beehive...well, that'd be messed up.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

More like, "hey I heard there was a cave full of gold in those hills, did you happen to find it in your exploring?"

M Human Cavalier /1st

hmmm, there was a cave full of gold in that tree? nice!

So I figured I would share to crazy useful tools I'm using now!

My default browser is Firefox and the Post Monster tends to chowdown on my writing more and more frequently. Especially with the huge things I do. Now most of the time I remember to copy and paste, but sometimes i slip up.

Now I have an add-on for Firefox called Lazarus! This let's me recover individual entries or entire forms from any time in the last two hours (my setting you can do like months if you want). Since I've installed this I have recovered probably five posts.

The second thing I've just started using is a program for Windows 7 called Feed Notifier. This is a simple RSS notification tool that gives me a system message in the corner of my screen whenever posts for my favorite threads happen.

M Human Cavalier /1st

both of those sound pretty sweet, I think I will download that Lazarus now.

Yeah. I've noticed this party tends to lose focus, and drift from one idea to the other. Most of the PbP's I've been in solve one problem and move on to the next (Gaining XP and loot in the process). We kind of just drift around uncovering more things to do.

Don't get me wrong I'm having a blast and the interaction between the PC's is second to none, but I would like to focus on accomplishing things a little more.

A drifting focus is one of the potential pitfalls of a sandbox style, but we can work on tightening that up.

I really like the territory map that we are using, and I appreciate the addition of text in hexes that may contain some of the challenges that have been alluded to so far.

Also, the will-o-wisp encounter points out that some things are just beyond our skill level, and we can charge headlong into encounters that will get us killed quickly if we aren't careful. I don't mean to metagame, but that is part of Kal's reluctance to charge straight up to the Stag Lord in his home base; I think it could result in a TPK.

Male Human Ranger

I will agree with Kal about that being part of the nature of a sandbox style game. I am all for cutting down out list of to do's as well, but when in a sandbox sometimes you can't help but, keep adding to that list. I try not to metagame, so that is part of the reason I am for running back to Oleg's to make sure the Staglord isn't going to attack etc. I know we need to deal with him, but I to am leery about going after him to soon. I think if we can knock some of these other tasks out of the way, maybe then we go after him. I was also wondering exactly how large an area is our charter suppose to cover. From the players guide we are just one of several groups sent south. Do we know what area is suppose to be our region to cover? It would help to know how we are doing on exploring our assigned terrain I think.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Yup, it was listed in the charter.

"no further then thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg's Trading Post"

Each hex is 12 miles across so about 3 hexs to the left, 3 to the right and six down. Oleg's is actually in the wrong spot > . < so it's more like 4 to the left, 2 to the right, and 6 down.

The Stag Lord's fort is the farthest south you should be exploring, and there's nothing more to the east.

1d100 ⇒ 92

I wonder wonder where that fish did go.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

The thrills of crossing a bridge! Up next the party will open a door!

You mock, but I remember table top sessions in the old days where it took a half hour or more to open a door. Sometimes it was paranoia, sometimes it was "discussions" about the course the party should take when presented with a door option that deteriorated into a party brawl.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Yup, I have totally seen that happen. Of course soon as everyone relaxes, *bam* trap.

M Human Cavalier /1st

I tend to solve door arguments by kicking them in, at least at a table top, I can't stand sitting for a long while talking about whether a door should be opened or not. lol, though I typically have characters that feel the same way. anywho, as far as parring the list down, I think we have taken on what we come across as best we can, and really the bandits are the first assignment we got tasked with and we are slowly but surely handling it. by no means, do I think we will turn the other way if the boar shows up, but if given the option, I say we go find that bandit's head and mount it on the wall. after we have the bandits out of the way, we are free to stop worrying about oleg as much and, just run around hunting boar and killing mites and eventually that stinking wisp, any chance we could turn those two groups against each other? maybe sick the wisp on the kobolds? I dunno.

I'll be gone for about 4-5 hours tonight here in a few minutes. Talk amongst yourselves. Topic of the day is collapsing bridges and BP oil.
