Malaswyn is a cleric of Sarenrae. No way is he leaving vulnerable people to be slaughtered.
I don't know how good the boggard children are at tactical withdrawal...

Just a side note: if this dragon is big as I suspect, some of us - maybe all of us - aren't coming out of this one unless there's an ace in the hole I don't know about. Between those DCs and that breath weapon...
Don't you worry about that ace in the hole, my friend. I've got your ace in the hole.
His name's KRIGER BAY-BEE! Oh yeah!!! ;)
Kalsgrim Lodovka |
"My preference would be that we get the beast on the ground where we could surround it and engage in melee." Oberlin continued "And though I am loathe to admit it, I have a picture in my mind of someone landing on the beast and hacking its wings to bits, then riding it into the ground before the Duke finishes it off...but I may have spent too much time with bards in my non-adventuring years." he finishes sheepishly.
Its Kriger, isn't it? :)
Seriously, though. That makes me think of Bruenor.
Javell DeLeon |
Kriger actually has Resist energy, communal learned. I wish I had Protection from energy, communal learned too but I don't. And his Resist is only Resist 20. Man 1 more level and it would've been 30! So dang close.
Still, that dude BLASTED Kriger with a nasty breath and that save is near impossible to make. It's quite high. This dragon ain't no joke let me tell you. He's absolutely awesome! I love it. :)
Javell DeLeon |
What's worse for a dragon than a Kriger? A Kriger with Smite Evil!
We can make it happen.
Whoooooa ho ho! You CAN make it happen! Oh man I was thinking to myself: "Can he really?" and "That actually sounds familiar; let me take a look". And boy oh boy there it is! Aura of Justice!
Unfortunately, I'd get no bonus to hit or to my AC due to my 10 Charisma. But I'd still get +13 to damage! AND bypass all DR. Yeah, wouldn't complain in the least. :)

Sorry, but no. It is based on MY bonuses, not your attributes. +7 to hit it, +13 damage (+26 on the first hit) and +7 deflection bonus.

20 pints is 20 points man.

Okay, THAT'S cool. I was not aware of that. That just makes it even more awesome.

True. True. Every little bit does truly help.
Oberlin |
Is that a morale bonus or holy bonus?
Greater heroism:
This spell functions like heroism, except the creature gains a +4 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks, immunity to fear effects, and temporary hit points equal to your caster level (maximum 20).
So I am not sure if smite stacks or not
Javell DeLeon |
Man those cats are bad to the bone. They're practically immune to ALL elements. Plus death plus energy drain plus petrification. SR 21. Crikey! Man that's just awesome. Their AC isn't very good but they sure aren't getting blasted by any form of element or death ray, that's for sure.
Javell DeLeon |
Yeah this is a tough spot for sure. Kriger can only affect it on the ground. Otherwise he's a sitting duck. He needs fly. Basically, Kalsgrim is our best bet with arrows and Smite Evil. But even then he can only do so much.
But Mal's summons sure does help. If nothing else they will at least pose a nominal distraction.
I don't know. Definitely a tough call.
Malaswyn Tyddewi |
I could put you on the back of a roc (too slow), or a young bronze dragon (too weak) but it would be two or three rounds and then falling damage would be the problem...
Javell DeLeon |
The broom and carpet are handy but I don't think there's no way to fly and attack like you should be able to. Especially with a two-handed weapon. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong. No kidding.
And oh so close on the fly spell. That would've been cool and interesting.
Javell DeLeon |
"Yes, we'll buy them some time."
"Kriger, strike now!" He starts his aura of justice, giving all allies in 10' his smite evil ability for one minute, but they MUST use it next round for it to take effect. This is a free action for Kalsgrim.
I would love to but according to this...
Oberlin: Fortitude DC 20 or you are turned to a statue. Everyone can act. The carpet is 100 feet from the dragon. If Oberlin fails his save, someone will have to take over the driving (move action).
...I think we'd actually have to fly to him before I can do anything. He's just way too far away. At least, I believe that's the case. There's actually no way for us to strike at it if it truly is that far away.
You might want to hold off on the Aura of Justice. I didn't realize it had to be used pretty much instantly.
Javell DeLeon |
@OM: Can we full attack from a carpet? Even if we could, though, somebody has to drive the thing so that takes away someone from combat. Just realizing that, I'm not sure attacking from the carpet is such a good idea.
We're stuck between a rock and a hard place to be honest.
Fly spell communal, maybe? That would be super handy. I'm not actually sure if that's a real spell though. It should be if it's not. Because it'd sure be cool! :)
Other Mastermind |
For Aura of Justice, you can throw something at it, no?
For the flying brrom, let's keep it simple. It's like giving you the fly spell. You don't need hands, but you need to pilot it, with Fly or Ride skill checks when doing crazy stuff. You can ride it like a surf if you want ;)
You can carry a passenger, but the speed drops to 30 feet.

Good lord this blows. I don't know who else has escape magic, but Oberlin being stoned really screwed up a ton of the backup plans. Can any of you guys use arcane scrolls?
Yes, sort of...Use Magic Device +17. A scroll is 20 + caster level.
Malaswyn Tyddewi |
I mentioned in the summer that Malaswyn would use wind walk and word of recall to get about the region.
And word of recall is sitting on my spell-list.
Can we persuade OM to agree that Malaswyn cast Word of Recall before we left?
The destination would be Malaswyn's private quarters back in the capital.
Other Mastermind |
Would petrification count as an affliction? If so, I could transfer the affliction to myself and free up Oberlin to find a cure.
I looked it up, and stone to flesh is not a curse, so it won't count as an affliction. It's one of those very nasty spell because only wizards can reverse petrification. That might be why the dragon cast it on the wizard...
Oberlin |
Mentally shaking his fist.
Damn that Boba Ilthuliak. Who put a bounty mark out on my character? Nyrissa is definitely a Hutt.
So new project: make a bunch of stone to flesh scrolls for exactly this reason and give one to each of my comrades.
