If we let him live i'm going to give him the promise of a slow painful death if he betrays us. and thats saying Garrick doesn't kill him. The Nowicki brothers don't mess around when it comes to bandits.
Though I suppose all it takes is one or two words from Kalsgrim and our minds are made up for us. don't hesitate to reign us in if you need to Kal.

Sorry about the slow posting guys. I've been on a long business trip, and worn out much of the time. I'm home now and will get caught up before the weekend hits.
I know you all missed disagreeing with Janku, but he's got a whole lot of creative ideas for dealing with prisoners. Just wait till he gets fired up and starts preaching.

Hey guys. I saw someone mentioned splitting up to explore in one of the game threads. While there are advantages to that is some games, I think we need to keep in mind that this game is different from the previous AP's, in that there is really not a pushing time frame.
From what I understand from reading the design format for this module we find things, and decide to do them at our own pace, and don't really have a time sensitive 'railroad' type plot line to rush us alone...hence I really don't see any reason to split up at this time. Let's explore the hex between where we are and Oleg's and see what we come up with after that. We have 'The Staglord', The dangerous boar', and who knows what else to do next.
Thoughts?

There are some benefits to splitting up. You will cover more ground and explore more things that way.
There are downsides as well. You would have to figure out when the group will meet up next. There are encounters that you may not be able to avoid which will be scaled for all 7 of you rather then...3. Now there are plenty of encounters you can come across, run like hell from, and come back to with the full group.
My RL group has spent about a month exploring so far and has managed probably half of the encounters with a party going from 4-6 people.
With the PBP format splitting up would be easier...but still tricky, I can do it if you decide on that.
Something like. "Let's go to Oleg's, then the two groups can spend three days exploring two nearby hexes and meet back here on the third day." that would be pretty doable.

Pros and cons...
To me, splitting for the hexes near Oleg's would be fine, as it is near and we can come back and set up meetings easily. That's four hexes, six if you count the one near the roads.
For the other hexes, I would recommend we stick together, for the reasons mentioned by Janku and Scipion.

Perhaps splitting up for the hexes adjacent to Oleg's would be fine, but I'd be pretty leary about splitting up for hexes beyond that. It is not just the overall reduction in power, but splitting up our unique resources; we only have one cleric, for example. I don't know that the exploration aspect will slow us down so much, just the actual encounters.

If we do split up I suggest that the summoner be on the smaller team, while he is (1) he has summons and the Eidolon so I think that would make up for the low side.but if we were going to do it rp wise it would make since for Kal Garick and Ox, and then the other four splitting.

Agreeing that if we split up, it should only be for the hexes surrounding Casa d'Oleg.
Putting Kalsgrim in one group and Janku in the other should provide some healing options for each team. Garrick and Corso should probably be in different groups, to split up the Perception folk.
Servayn agrees that he should be in the smaller group.
The bandit belongs in whichever group has Garrick, who A) can track him if he runs, B) can kill him at range, and C) who has made it clear he's waiting for an excuse to kill the man. Servayn could put on a convincing show, with Ember and all, but couldn't track a Tarrasque though a flour mill...
Although, come 2nd level, Ember is going to learn Survival, just so that he can hunt and kill stuff to eat. He's sick and tired of chewy rations in tiny little human-sized portions.

I just realized what they remind me of. family circus
the only time the comic is even slightly amusing is when there are dotted lines in it.

I was thinking about fading out the squiggles that are like a week old until they finally vanish. As I can control their opacity :P
Ox and Garrick are on one side, the rest on the other. Sounds like flanking to me! Both groups hear the voice too. There's basically a football field between the two sides.

I think I'll make maps that aren't in the book with a site called Ye Old Map Maker, unless any of you can recommend a good free map making program?
When I DM'd Shattered Gates of Slaughterguard I converted every map from the book to Flash so I could project them on a wall for the players. That was a nice database of objects for map making in general but it got deleted.
That was a really cool adventure, all of the maps actually had the monster icons on the grid, as well as furniture and decorations. Which I've noticed Paizo does not do.
