The Library of Last Resort is your last chance to find the resting place of Dragotha's phylactery. But you aren't the only people looking for it.
Loot Sheet.
GM Notes.
Also I agree with Farrukh; let's stick with following the tracks. Stirring up trouble in town, while fun, is liable to bring the law down. Which Astraden would prefer to avoid.
I was thinking about this game last night and I concluded that the timezone spread we have is actually kind of nice in some ways. It allows us to make progress throughout the day as long as the DM is around.
I'm glad you're feeling better about the time zones, Tanith. I think things are definitely working fine on that front. I know we hit a bit of a lull back there, but overall, we're making good time—we just hit the thousandth post two days ago, and we're close to two-thirds of the way through the first installment.
For the record, Cow's told me he's sorry he can't be more active. Right now, he's having some computer problems, so I may have to NPC him for the time being. We'll see if things can be worked out.
Should be available to post every now and then, but I'll probably be limiting Robin's involvement so that his presence isn't essential until everything's sorted out.

Sort of. They're unnaturally mean.
"Owlbears are notoriously bloodthirsty killers, well known for their short tempers, aggression, and savage nature. They tend to attack without provocation, slaughtering any living creatures that cross their paths."

Aside from catcalls, gawking, and all that?
Well, she's moved around too often for a proper relationship to happen. Living with a priestess of the god of travelers doesn't do much for your love life, I'm afraid.

I'm going to be going to bed. When/if combat breaks out, Carina will only use her bombs if she's certain she'll only catch Kullen's crew in the blast. At all other times, she's going to be staying out of the way and keeping her owletcub safe.
I was hoping they'd place themselves when getting involved, but I've made some approximations. I heard some talk about some folk hanging out around the back?

I hate nonlethal fighting and/or taking prisoners. 99% of the time it just causes inter-party conflict and is way more trouble than it's worth.
I know Diamond Lake is like Mos Eisley, but what would be the town's reaction to a lethal bar battle? Are there even police/guards? If so, what would they do?
The town as a whole probably wouldn't care. Kullen isn't anybody's friend (save perhaps a few of those you're currently lobbying to kill).
Smenk, on the other hand, won't be happy if he finds out his five best men were murdered in a bar brawl. It'll also catch the party a somewhat unsavory reputation, since Kullen and his men are honoring "barfight standards" and Cuetzpalli wants to sic a dinosaur on them.
Basically, the party makes enemies. In addition, individual party members might feel their moral codes are being compromised by such an act.
Don't worry, Cuetzpalli. You can still use Spiny in a fight! I'll give him the stats of a quarterstaff.
In seriousness, I'm sorry you don't enjoy barfights. But hey, other people do, and it's not like we're playing "Age of Taverns: The Nonlethal Cairn". We'll be back to stabbing orcs and taking pies before you know it!
Cuetzpalli is free to act as he wishes, of course. If he wants to send in Spiny, well, that's what'll happen.

-sigh- Fine...we can just beat them up. I won't slice out his still beating heart with an obsidian blade on the bar and burn it in a brazier as a sacrifice to Huitzilopochtli.

*Raises hand*
I can count the number of bar fights I've see actually run as bar fights in all my years of gaming on one hand. Everyone is always so sword-happy. =P

It's not the fight I have a problem with. It's the afterward where we have five pissed off thugs with class levels that we have to do something with. If we don't kill them, they're going to come after us and then we'll just have to kill them anyway. At least that's how it's gone in nearly every game my party have ever taken a prisoner in. And I've been playing 3.X/Pathfinder for like almost 15 years now. The only time it's worked is when there are police equivalents to turn them over to for their crimes.

I feel ya on the "every time I've done it it's come back to bite me" thing (just had this conversation with my Way of the Wicked GM last week on the subject of "Not killing literally everything we talk to because they come back and screw us later").
But a bar fight's fun and cinematic, you know? To an extent.
