Okay, so, it occurs to me that we got people's time zones but not the important bits. Like WHEN they post. I usually can't post until the afternoon (around 2:30 PM EST, it's 2:55 now).

Currently, I can post pretty much all day, since I'm on break. I will be a bit more busy starting this Monday. I can post between classes, though, so...my most reliable times are between 10:30 AM and noon. I also have Fridays basically off, and Thursday's I have the whole morning and a good chunk of the afternoon available.

I am three hours behind Rynjin, for the record.

Just to be clear:

The PRD wrote:

To determine whether your target has cover from your ranged attack, choose a corner of your square. If any line from this corner to any corner of the target's square passes through a square or border that blocks line of effect or provides cover, or through a square occupied by a creature, the target has cover (+4 to AC).

When making a melee attack against an adjacent target, your target has cover if any line from any corner of your square to the target's square goes through a wall (including a low wall). When making a melee attack against a target that isn't adjacent to you (such as with a reach weapon), use the rules for determining cover from ranged attacks.

I didn't know this until I looked it up, either, but I remembered hearing something related and wanted to be sure. So, yeah. Your attack won't necessarily miss this turn, but it might still be wise to take a more favorable position.

I think I came in too late to cast any useful spells, but if this is a situation where someone would have wanted grease or protection from evil, I'll adjust future actions.

It doesn't much matter because that bite critted so hard, but standing from prone is normally a move action.

Yeah, first crit of the campaign goes, fittingly, to the spinosaurus. First blood goes to Farrukh. First killing of a fleeing enemy goes to Bermintrude. ;)

KC typically is going to handle initiative. We're not really in combat yet.

Yeah, I figured I'd wait for the morning to initiate things, since I was a bit too tired to start combat coherently.

Also, about Google Docs vs. Roll 20--I'll consider switching over, though not for this fight. My main problem with Roll 20 is I don't remember it being as good at introducing shapes. It's got map control, but I can't add things like arrows as easily.

It's got a free draw function that works pretty good. If you need to move stuff you can drag/drop.

It's not super for custom maps, drawing anything in detail, but pretty good for our purposes.

Edit: Oh sure, make Farrukh look like a coward for not wanting to fight the swarm of acid beetles. =p

The range increment for a thrown bomb is 10 feet. Right, I forgot to account for that.

And really, I'm kinda praying they do.

Not exactly good for a doctor-patient relationship if said doctor accidentally blows up her patient with a bomb.

For the record, I was talking to Gark on Skype and he said he was alright with the death. I offered an Action Point houserule (sort of like the Hero Point rule where you spend half your allotment to survive) borrowed from another game, but he turned it down.

This is a famously dangerous encounter. Kudos to the goblin for being sporting about it.

I've asked Gark just that, regarding what he will play now. For the time being, though, Gark will probably be out of commission--at least until he returns from Sweden.

Your group can head back to town to deliver Erip back to Allustan (where he can be rendered to Wee Jas's faithful for burial). You can then return to the Whispering Cairn and continue the exploration. Alternatively, you can leave Erip here (or put him on the sarcophagus or something, you should honor your friend! ;D) and press on, delivering the corpse after making it through the Cairn.

If any characters are feeling unmotivated now, let me know so the game can address that. Notably, Erip wanted to explore the Cairn and reveal its secrets. Perhaps Carina might be motivated to fulfill Erip's task.

Do you mean that you guys need that replacement, or that you want me to be able to play? I'm perfectly okay holding out until you guys finish the adventure or head back to town; that makes it more plausible to bring in that character, and it means I probably won't have to struggle with timezones.

That was going to be Tanith's motivation - Erip's wish was to see this place explored. He's going to make sure it gets done.

I can perhaps carry Erip's torch (so to speak). If Erip had any spells that were on the alchemist formula list, I can learn them.

Carina would want everyone to be healthy and prepared before we go further... and she'd want Erip to have a proper funeral. E deserves that much, at least.

Because I keep having to act for him. I feel bad. Poor guy just has a really rough time zone--hopefully he'll get to properly attend combats when we start to slow down.

My OOC concern is you being able to participate. If you're out of town and don't mind sitting out for a bit, I say we press on. We should be able to get through another encounter or two before we need to rest up.
