Depending upon Danny's responses; Axe will probably go looking for some Thermite grenades; they dont explode; but just burn really really hot and other military grade stuff like that, better to have and not use than not have, not sure if i have been here long enough for these kinds of contacts.

Thanks everyone, this is really interesting and you are a great group. The discussions and plans are brilliant, I am looking forward to what everyone is going to do.
I am holding back on any more posts/ NPC introductions whilst you debate, but I am following along and I have various encounters/ideas mapped out for the rest of the arc. Though undoubtably you will throw me for a curve-ball :P

it's near bedtime her i norge. I'll come up with a response for Danny when my brain isn't as inactive as the cauliflower we had with dinner tonight.
Heh. At least YOU ate something remotely healthy! ;P
Yeah, with all I have going on in RL, i'm fuzzy too. Today's post for example, I actually finished writing it about 30 minutes AFTER I was supposed to be leaving work to pick up the kids from school! ;P
Meh. It definitely was not my best work. ;) But, with Danny having multiple issues regarding his fae parentage, his generally being treated like dirt by Winter in general, and Duana specifically, it seemed like a good time to have Danny mouth back. A little. ;)
,...Though undoubtably you will throw me for a curve-ball :P
Well, it won't be for lack of trying! :D
Valegrim |
yeah; Axes warrior energizer batteries are all plugged in; am backing you bud; but you know Axe is short on talk to do his warrior code. His eyes are getting frosty :) as he begins to transform from easy going fry cook to Spartan Warrior of the Diefic design. eheh I think I need to watch 300 again.
dont know if any of you have history or art history or such or if you know weapons; but that shield and his armor is the original and about 2300 years old so might catch your eye. The shield is in lots of Art books. Strangly the armor fits him perfectly, even though people were a lot shorter back then.
Gelert |
Yeah I know what armor and shield you're talking about Valegrim. However if you're looking for a good representation of Spartans, 300 is not the way to go. That movie, while Awesomely guy-movie amazing, is horribly inaccurate. Spartans wore armor, not spray on abs. Also technically if you're Achilles reborn you wouldn't be "Spartan" but that's just up to you. :P
And on the storyline I have but this to add to it to continue the plot.

True; but all them toothbrush heads more or less look alike with breastplate; round shield with shin and forearm guards. Before the era of Imperial Rome with chainmail and lorica segmentum and the rectangular sheild. Just watched 300 for the feel of it as I dont have any others of near that era; can't find my copy of the Illiad yet, so been reading the Odessy; lol spelling. I know Spartans all sprang up from planting Dragon Teeth, but most peeps dont know all these details so was keeping it simple.

Hey DSXM, question,
Danny originally told 'Becca' to avoid contact with either Henri or Aggogo, but on the phone she just said 'My Lord and the jerk'
By my Lord I presume she meant LAwrence. Is this a mistake on my part, is she calling Henri her 'lord', or did I type the wrong name on Danny's warning post?!? ;P
Just want to make sure before I, I mean Danny, mucks things up even more!
:D
Oh, and sorry for the delay in posting, but between trying to figure out how Danny's going to talk his way out of this one, and RL issues, I'm a little behind. ;P
Gelert |
No problem Duana :) technically there haven't been many instances where Gelert was relevant, he is a dog after all :P With finals near to be over, I am able to post MUCH more frequently now. As a brighter note, Since I now have a very high B in my College ALgebra class, I can afford to not do so well on the Final, which I am sure I am going to do anyways but it's nice to have a cushion to fall back on. :) math really was the source of all my stress and kept me from posting a lot.

Also vampires should be morally dubious, not too conflicted mopey Twilight schlock. (I did like the Dorian Gray film for this).
Lucy by the way is 17, the typical age for a British girl to go out to the pub and get drunk on a saturday night. (before that they try and get a big bottle of cider from the supermarket and drink it with friends)
Ragadolf |
Hey, thx DSXM.
I thought it was weird either way, since Danny mentioned HENRI & Aggogo, not Lawrence. Ah well,
And sorry for the delay. RL continues to be,... RL.
I have decided that while I'm probably almost as clever as I think I am, I am nowhere near as clever as our hero-author, Mr Butcher. (LOng may he write!) So, Danny's post will be nowhere near as plot-twisty as I was hoping. But should be fairly realistic with his character. ;P
And on a GOOD note this week, I just ordered teh entire set of Dresden books from the SciFi book club in hardbacks (I had almost all, but in paperbacks) and they arrived today! So I'm reading Ghost Story as soon as I log off tonite! :)
And the new permanent reply box? Gives me the willies. I thought I was doing something wrong (hitting reply instead of read the threads) or something! ;P
Ragadolf |
Nice work guys. Very fun to read.
(I enjoy Duana's comments a lot more when they aren't directed at Danny!) ;P
I think I understand most of what happened, technically (rule-wise). But I have a few questions. (I have to go through the posts, and see where I got lost to ask them though.) ;P
Very helpful, and fun!
Well, My daughter is in the Nutcracker tonight and tomorrow, so I'll probably see you on MOnday!
DSXMachina |
Glad you enjoyed it. I am trying not to have too many combats (unless you instigate them), especially social or mental ones. But meeting important dignitaries/faction leaders, makes this a good option. Rather than a single diplomacy roll, the system seems to work quite well for this (although it is probably easier in a face-to-face game).
Ragadolf, Good Luck with the ballet, and if she has as much grace as you have flair I am sure it will be excellent.
DSXMachina |
Sorry, she is currently wandering with you, but if you show disfavour she will rabbit away (telling Gelert where to find her).
Currently the situation is that you are in the VIP section of the club. Bunny is sat by you, G has left and Lucy is unconcious in Gabriels arms. There is nobody else around (or likely to be).
Ragadolf |
Ah, ah hah! NOW it makes sense! 8O
Sorry, in my hasty reading of the interactions, I got confused, and thought that Lucy was Bunny! ;P
NOW I see (Said the blind man!) :)
And Thanks DSXM, My daughter did great, as usual.
(I mean, I think she's great, but I'm admittedly a little biased.) ;)
Hm, Well, I dunno about 'flair', but she is doing acting as her school art elective. And last year she did awesome as the Wicked Queen/Witch in her grade school production of Snow White! :D

Oh, hey, rules question.
Danny does NOT use 'magic' like the wizards and such do. He took the power Fae Illusion (or whatever the title actually is)
Now, I understand that we have to use the wizard's magic mechanic.
But, (and without the rules books I am just going over conversations I had last year) The Fae Illusion(s) are not like Dresden pulling a veil. Dresden would gather energy, focus it into a spell, (probably spirit) and release it. if he had an item that focused evocation it would make the spell stronger.
BUT, Danny has none of that. No items slots like wizards, etc. He is a (versatile) one-trick pony. But does not call upon elemental forces to work his tricks. (as far as I know.)
SO, short version, Working that logic, Danny probably cannot 'hex' electronics. He cannot actually effect/affect the real world. He can only make it LOOK like he has done something. Yes?
Just figured this might be a good time to hash this out, ya know, before we go slam with a bad guy! ;P
EDIT- Also, if Danny does not use 'magic' per se, is he affected by Thresholds? I presume that if the fae are affected by thresholds, that rule would still apply to Danny then. :)
DSXMachina |
Rules questions..... :O
Looking at the book, it can be interpretted that Danny doesn't have to worry about technology. His Glamours have a different magic base (or something) than a Wizard or someone with sponsored powers. Thus he does not have to worry about hexing. Maybe this works like the Summer Knight driving around in a flash car. However, I would still say that there are some limitations to moving across thresholds as most/all magical beings have some form of this.
Of course this is upto your exact belief/vision for the character.
Whereas Gabriels' Unseelie Magic is sponsored and works more like regular wizardly things. Giving more versatility, but with the problem of hexing. However as I think I said before, this doesn't need too much hard and fast rules. Maybe Gabriel has to replace cell-phones, or be careful with hard-drives. But as far as the game directly is concerned, you should know by now that I won't screw you over (without giving you options).
Danny Kaye |
I like that. :)
Let's try it that way for now. Danny's magic doesn't affect technology, (at least not greatly?)
But like ALL things there are hard and fast rules that must be followed. The Threshold would be one of those.
I think This also goes along with things that affect his inhuman recovery (the 'Fae Catch')
Thank you!
