Sure, come on in...

By the way, I won't be rolling all these skill checks in game unless asked, i just wanted to get a sense of how it all will work before, so I don't make a total idiot of myself.

That said, Oracle or Witch? We're good on the arcane/Int front, but not so great on the divine/Cha front at this moment.

Why does it feel i made a relitively weak character at least when skills is concerned?

hey guys and gals; Ax i currently in Toronto having just had a battle at the museaum with wizards; fey; undead; and other things; then was with some guys lookng for a jewel thief; but to avoid police asking to many questions he is gonna hop a bus to.....

Let pick a city as a game setting. I kind of like Detroit as it is in the same lay line as Chicago and has lots of crime, murder, missing persons which could be accounted for by all the vamps and fey and whatnot; also has lake and river access for plots at the dock and enough people for ananimity and all the major sports so if your staff is a hockey stick; in Hockeytown yoiu probably wouldnt even draw comment. I dont know the city very well though.

If you want a more Southwestern flavor; I know Albuqueque really well and the local legend for the dm to create lots of stuff; lots of ghost towns and indian burial sights and 5 tribes surround the city and all that Western type stuff; old mine shafts all the way back to the Conquistedores. We have Sasquatch and La Llorona ( a vengeful spirit that takes kids in arroyos and ditches ) probably kept up as we have flash floods and loose people; cars and whatnot in ditches and even roads that overflow. And yes, we have dinosaurs; a full T rex rebuilt at our Natural history museum, there are expeditions every week to find t rex bones and other dinos; they find a lot of them here. We also have several military bases and government very high security research labs; think tanks and development stuff, for instance; everyone tests there missles here before they go to the gunnery sites in the Marshal Islands. Oh; the Rio Grande runs right through the middle of ABQ. Not big population though; ABQ and surrounding area is around a million. We do have real medicine men and cullianderas; probably spelled that wrong; and a strong church population varieous christians; muslims; buddists; taoists; and the like. UNM, the largest university is in the middle of town and there are at least three other colleges here.

oh; and we have 5 climates here; even glaciers; half the state is mountainous forest and about a third is desert and the rest are flat praerie. We also have the biggest or deepest or whatever cave call Carlsbad Caverns to the south that gm only knows what can crawl out of hehe.

just some thoughts.

looks like your character is a mirror of mine by a different route

*scratches chin*

Hmmm... Albuquerque. My family, er... my mother's people were big in Albuquerque quite a while back. I have never been myself.

But I do like the idea. It is a bright, rather mystical place in and of itself, close to Mexico so we can bring in some more "native" elements and it wouldn't be so misty and overtly "winter" as I imagine that England might be.

And yeah, I know of la llorona, and such. I am a halfie myself, my padre is a naturalized citizen, which technically makes me first generation Mexican-American, or Chicana.

Edit When I say "close" to Mexico, I mean in terms of culture. I know that geographically it is pretty far. It's no where near as close as El Paso in terms of culture, I am sure, but... that's what proximity to the Rio Grande gets ya.

Hmm well I do like the idea of york to be honest I have never been to england myself but always p[lanned on visiting. Im familar with Denver or theres even Colorado Springs. Denver is more the City fel where as Colorado ASprings has beautiful setting among the ountians offering both city and outdoors. my 2 cents

I know of St Louis, New York, Chicago, Kansas City, Oklahoma City

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Woof! Runs about the group and sniffing at the map. Puts his paw on a random location then gives a doggy grin, unaware he has put his paw on St. Louis. He goes over and plops his heavy head against Duana's hip.

But but but... the Anita Blake novels are set in Saint Louis.

What if... what if we like meet her gaggle of boy men, and Duana is forced to slaughter each and every one of them?

Okay, maybe not ALL of them. Edward the Assassin, last known to be the only man on the face of the planet that Anita has not engaged in carnal relations with may be spared.

And the fact that I remember that is amazing in a very very sad way...

My vote is on Colorado Springs or York lol that way we dont have any messy crime scenes Gabriel will have to clean up for Duana lol

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Gelert suddenly gets a fiendish light in his eyes and puts his nose on philidelphia. he growls at anyone who says no, because Gelert wants a philly cheese steak.

Gelert, is there any reason besides food you're placing your paw on Philly, because I had thought the point of the exercise was to narrow down our choices of cities rather than add more.

So far the current options I am aware of are:

York, England
New York, NY, USA
Detroit, MI, USA
Atlanta, GA, USA
New Orleans, LA, USA
Saint Louis, MO, USA
Colorado Springs, CO, USA
and finally
Albuquerque, NM, USA

unless I missed any?

Me, I like the Detroit idea if we're going for grit and desperate. Albuquerque could be a great place if we want to swing away from the whole Winter Court influence as it is warm and sunny there. Colorado Springs, I have no clue. Atlanta the same. New Orleans seems a bit cliche to me, but I can dig it if we're going full vamp, I suppose, although there are negative connotations from the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series. Saint Louis I don't like as a player, either, having at one time read those awful AB books to fill time between classes with words that didn't come from textbooks. Jericho is running a game in New York, so I don't know how that would work for either of them.

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Lolz sorry I was more playing Gelert as a character than suggest an idea for a location, since wherever Duana goes, he goes, no matter where it is. The best 'hunting grounds' would probably be in Europe, but that's just cuz of my background. i'm fine with whatever you decide Duana. After all, im a dog. albeit an intelligent dog, but still, im just a big fuzzy warrior with a soft spot for food and cuddling :P. all Gelert wants to do is stay away from the Wyld Hunt, plus protect Duana.

Male Ferromancer

I'm a big fan of Albequerque for my own familiarity with it. York is nice for the 'dark, foggy streets of England' and fish out of water ways, and Detroit would be good for some grim and grittiness. All sound good to me.

Evil GM

If it's alright i will just pare it down a bit, then tomorrow with a bit of google-fu i/we can put up some advantages of each.

York, England - History=good
New York, NY, USA - I think we can remove this with Ryukos game going
Detroit, MI, USA - Gritty=good
Atlanta, GA, USA -Southern Charm but i may prefer New Orleans
New Orleans, LA, USA - Style=good
Saint Louis, MO, USA - Again i think we can remove this; its a nice place but...
Colorado Springs, CO, USA - Mountain City=Good
Albuquerque, NM, USA - SW cowboys grit=good

Again this is just my opinion and not trying to offend anybody's home city.

"My character has no initiative of his own except for cuddles and the occasional mildly embarrassing erection when I'm licking myself, and neither does his player" is what I read of that.

*laughs*

I agree with DSXM's list, I like St Louis (One of my uncles lived there for years, and I visited it often, but nothing ever stood out to me that would apply to this game) :) But I think we can delete it from the list.

Again, I like and am (unfortunately) familiar with New Orleans, but the mystique has been rather run roughshod over by certain authors. (Again, that might make for fun moments al la 'but the author said vamps can't do that!' as the black court attacks.) :) But there is certainly enough background to play with,...

I like York, because I have never been to England, and it sounds cool. And i know there's plenty history there to play with.

Detroit, I think might be gritty/good, it evokes the Chicago feel of the novels without the dreaded 'Harry runs in and saves your bacon!' phenomenon. ;P

All of the others I confess I greeted with an initial 'Meh.' If we are doing a narrow-down, IO vote for the 4 above.

And Gelert, if you REALLY want a sandwich made of good meat and cheap bad canned cheese Danny will happily make you one! (In case you didn't know it, the 'original/official' Philly cheesesteak, is made with Cheez Whiz. Yes, canned Cheez Whiz. I kid you not.) ;P

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

No kidding? Cheez Whiz? wow. Still, amazing sandiwich. and no Duana, I have intiative, Gelert simply prefers to follow you around. If the Wyld Hunt pops up, he'll take immediate action, that's the way his character is. yes i'm an intelligent dog, i'm still a dog. as a Player for city choice, I'd prefer Detroit, New Orleans or Colorado Springs.

Yes, I was being silly.

*scratches beneath Gelert's chin*

Gelert is a good hunter, and a good companion.

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Gelert lets her pet him then licks her hand once and then curls up on the floor, laying his ears flat and half-closing his bright eyes in a doggy doze as he waits for everyone to decide.

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Also Danny? Keep giving and making Gelert food and he might actually let you near Duana for a minute or two ;P, just a hint but don't be getting your hopes up juuuust yet. As u can probably tell, Gelert is really protective.

Male Ferromancer

So while I thought Duana would be fun, I also thought it might be fun having Jericho run into Gelert alone in the NeverNever, maybe as a pup, and then him guide Korben through to a safe place. Just a thought, and one I like. Also I'd like Korben's other Guest Star to be Aximeus, just to make sure he's linked in.

Aaah, my heart, it is breaking!

*sobs miserably*

Oh wait, I have a book beside me.

*immediately forgotten*

*laughs*

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

It might work Jericho, but i'm unsure when they would run into each other, unless Gelert was on one of his puppy adventures :P which actually happen quite often because of his mission for...*turns white* oh look! A bunny! Woof woof woof! Chases after it.

I'm thinking that Duana would keep Gelert around for her rather "human" recovery period after getting jumped on the Wyld Hunt. I wanted to add some sort of flavor that she can be made to feel physically vulnerable, so I gave her a history of being severely injured at some point, likely during the Wyld Hunt. And the Gelert pup was something she would have had around that wouldn't treat her like garbage for the failure, and something she could connect/bond with during the healing process.

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Well personally i rly like that idea it gives her a perfect reason to feel close to Gelert and for him to be so protective of her. :) its kinda hard for anyone else to guest star during his puppy years but during times she might need to meditate or sleep, he can be romping about in a place closeby or something to that effect :)

Eh, whenever. Maybe Jericho passed right through her realm by accident and you simply led him to somewhere safe? This whole bit of Jericho's backstory is basically sending him from one place to another, and the Aspect will be something along the lines of Friendless and Forgotten Reflecting that he is off the grid, had to leave his friends behind in order to make sure he wasn't caught, and hasn't made a lot anymore because he doesn't want to have anyone to trace back, or to hurt him through. My last one is gonna be something along the lines of In Pursuit of Knowledge and will involve someone (Whoever Guest Stars) introducing me to a Professor who knows something of magic, who I will then be a Teaching Assistant to and refine his abilities in magic, Lore and Academics. Thus is the formula for a nerdy spellslinger!

Just finished Summer Knight.

Question: Can I make "the choice" at any time, or is it offered when you reach 0 Fate points?

*yawn*

probably sounds like a stupit question, but is close to midnight.

Tomorrow I start reading Dune and working on making my Dreamspun Sorc into a Bene Gesserit witch.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Colorado Springs is really pretty small; but is very close to Denver and I think the dresden book have had them go to Denver a few times. Would rather Denver as the site that included some Colorado Springs if we go that route. Otherwise the list is pretty good; any will do.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

hehe; be the sun of the dude who drinks the water of life.

Yeah...co springs is not small lol

Gabriel, were you planning on having Duana as a guest star at some point? Just wondering if we should try to coordinate how you might incorporate her into your story.

Most likely yes haha just trying to plan other guest stars lol

Evil GM

So for guest stars we have (each person has two):

Duana - Gabriel & Danny
Danny -
Aximeus -
Gelert -
Jericho - Gelert & Aximeus
Gabriel -

These are, of course, subject to change. & my misinterpretation of your posts. Just trying to get it in order.

Wow, Duana completely missed your post at the top of the page. It's fine everyone add whatever skill checks you think appropriate during gameplay. I will ask for any that i think are essential, although generally not many checks are needed unless in unusual/ stressful situations.

I think having the Winter Knight as a guest star is pretty standard for Duana, as she would probably harbor a pretty strong rivalry with anyone who appears to have Maeve's favor at any point.

Danny looks fun, too, from a humanizing standpoint. A spartan demigod would just be... wrong? I think for her character. And see above mention of tying salmon steaks to her neck to get a polar bear's attention. Not saying it isn't possible, but I just don't know.

Evil GM

Of course PC's don't have to reciprocate the guest stars; in fact it is best not to to allow contact with all others.

Also even if you are not in a guest star apprearance does not mean you don't know them. Ie Gelert & Duana would not have to have a guest star between them, In fact with Gelerts' Aspects are more than enough of a relationship.

Ahh, I thought guest star implied some longer contact with the character, I supposed, which is why we would have to coordinate. Like Duana spent probably a few weeks in recovery with the Gelert pup.

But if the guest star is more like "oh, I met this guy and he seemed cool" I suppose it does not matter quite as much.

Evil GM

Well, it can be a brief but significant event. Or it could be a prolonged and influential event in the life of the character. It is basically something that helps define your character. For example, it could be like when a Human (Karren Murphy) discovers about the supernatural world.

Changling Spellsinger Physical: [] [] [] Mental: [] [] [] [] Social: [] [] [] [] FP:10

yes, I already erased most of my guest stars, to make room for the new, but for my original I kept Axi's guest star. Feel free to peruse and you'll see how we did it before.

It can be as simple as;
Axi's main story relates an adventure in chinatown, where he fights a chinese magician.
As a guest star, I simply write about how Danny was taking his (girl)friends out for a chinese dinner, and stumbled into a large man battling an obviously evil wizard. He sings a few power chords to confuse the evil wiz, allowing the large warrior to win the battle.

Also, if I remember correctly, these shouldn't be TOO detailed. Think 'back cover blurb', not 'excerpt chapter from the completed novel'.

:)

Ah, so she could witness the introduction of the EoP for Summer to the Winter Court and just wonder how he was going to change the balance of power? Is that correct?

Male Ferromancer

I suppose this will do for Jericho, supposing Gelert is ok with it.

Stranger in A Strange Land:
When Jericho becomes lost in the Fae Realms while running from the law, can he manage to make it to a safe haven while avoiding encounters with tricky Fae, ravenous Demons and the Erlking's Dark Hunt? With his new companion, a Fae Hound, to help, Jericho manages to escape, finding himself lost deep inside [insert city name here], miles from his home and any companion he knows.

Phase Aspect:Friendless and Forgotten.

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

Wags tail at Jericho since he remembers him now. *totally ok w that Jericho :)*

Yeah ill get back to you guys on this game i am totally pissed right now that yet another game might have to be lost due to dreaded loot system arguments

I am no going to go console myself with the original Karate Kid

Evil GM

Not that i approve of the music but Sweep the leg, Johnny, it's very funny.

Evil GM

Yes, that great Jericho. Love the Heinlein reference. :)

Male Ferromancer

NO More Kings Reference FTW!! I love that band. And yes, all my Phases are actually named after books I think are classics, it's another reference to Jericho being very much a bookworm. Lacking a resource like Bob, he's pretty much had to be to get as good at Lore as he is.

Duana wrote:

Sort of,... except (again, I think, because I don't have the actual books for reference) IF you are the guest star, you take the blurb I wrote, and add to it, (basically write the blurb as if for your book)

If I'm guest starring in your story, I take the blurb you wrote, and add my bit to it. That way we don't actually change the blurb/story of who we're guest starring in, or writing a new one. Think of it as adding a bit more detail.

Example (Made up from bits & pieces of stuff I've read) :)

Spoiler:

Pernilla's story: 'Ladies night out'; Aspect-'Rock the House'
(Pernilla is a Valkyrie in training)
Looking for a respite from her duties, Pernilla decides to let her hair down and go to a rock concert. But when Rock Trolls decide to crash the party, It's up to Pernilla and her enchanted hammer to make sure teh Trolls are the only things to get smashed!

Guest star- Diedra 'Lady Ga-Ga' Galore- Aspect 'Screamin' in the Rain'
(Diedre is a Changeling/Banshee)
Diedre finally got her big break, singing lead for a popular underground band at a battle of the bands contest. But when monsters interrupt the fun, Diedre decides to sing them to sleep,... Banshee style!

You get the idea. :)
(Based on two pc's from the last game. I thought they were cool concepts!)

Woo. Probably good I am taking the night off of posting in character or as a GM, as I had to look away from this one and read it again after a while to get it, and I ain't had a single thing to drink tonight.

(Skype/Maptools games require much more attention than I think, sometimes).

So, if I made Danny my guest star in some insignificant way, say, Duana being present at the court beside Maeve or even the Winter Knight when he was introduced as the Emissary for the Summer Court, it would be rather insignificant in the series of events for that phase, but you would take her noticing you, and say "well, I saw this dark haired girl standing beside Maeve and wondered who she was."

Is that the gist of it?

Male Temple Hound (Wyld Fey)

For guest stars i have Duana and Jericho :)

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

So is Harry still the Winter Knight, too? Am I reading this wrong; is this a knight of the winter court or THE Winter Knight. Does the game leave the books out of it; different timeline; just trying to wrap my head around it.

As for Aximeaus and guest stars, Ax hangs out in the underbelly of the world; so in the alley with the guys throwing dice late at night, taking a smoke break with guys after work; taking a walk in the park to meet a freind or have a drink and clear his head. He is the wandering hero that doesnt look for trouble; but always finds it. He is that guy who is there when you are running from something big and scarey that is chasing you through the night and need a hero; you just bump into him as he is on his way home from work or hanging with friends or just wandering to the next city or job. In a Gala type event; he is often temp help with the cooks or chefs or wait staff; you might find him anywhere amongst those nobody sees, the poor and downtrodden, as they are mostly in need and often ignored and primary targets for predators. He usually makes friends by helping out family shops and local store owners from thugs and such taking a job to sweep up around the place or stock shelves for a little extra cash. His typical job is short order cook at one of the thousands of diners around the world.

Evil GM

How i am interpreting this for the game is;-

With Lloyd Slate bound & tortured the Winter Court (& more specifically Maeve) needs an Agent capable of acting (killing) mortals so she gives some of her power to Gabriel. Calling him her Frost Knight.

This keeps the balance with Summer as Fix can act against mortals as well. As the 'Frost Knight' Gabriel is an Emissary or agent for the court.

It will be in the same time-line as the books just after "Turncoat".
