Two things.

1) The pool is described as ending at a natural cavern. I take that to mean that the water stops and dry land begins, and we just have to wade through the water to get to the dry cavern.

2) I can tell that you put a lot of time and effort into your math calculations, and you should be commended for taking the game so seriously. Well done.

With that said, we don't have to get all of the water 'warm'. We just have to get it to a 'not-so-cold-that-it-causes-damage' point. I will wait and see if the DM rules that the time it takes to cut a hole in the wall and set up a climbing rope is enough time to get the water to a point where it is merely 'cold' and no longer 'stupid cold'.

I will permit the water to be warmed to the point where it doesn't cause damage (which it most certainly would if not prepared for). It will take an hour to break through the wall, which is coincidentally how long it takes for Theo to warm himself sufficiently so as not to incur penalties to rolls.

Now, the pool does end in a dry cavern, but getting into said cavern is not so easy as wading through. The pool is eight feet deep and the sides drop rather precipitously so that it isn't a gradual slope. It goes from ground level to about 7 or 8 feet almost immediately. And if swimming in armor, Athletics checks are called for.

An unarmored individual could jump into the pool, swim to the side, and push themselves up (like pushing up out of a swimming pool), but doing this in armor requires an Athletics check (as I said).

You might want to consider retconning it so there is some kind of anchor on that rope (like a dagger, maybe). Theo is less than 6ft tall, I don't know that he can reach a rope that's floating on the surface of an 8ft pool.

Ya'Bo did mention being without home internet until the first week of December. I wouldn't be against waiting until he can post more consistently. We've already been on a month-long hiatus. A week or two more wouldn't be the end of the world.

Sorry guys, I've been very busy. I will try to get a post up tomorrow or the next day. We're getting new roof put on our house and doing some major renovation (adding an expansion), in addition to a convention coming up in early March for which I work.

There will be a delay of game. I apologize to everyone, but this is unavoidable. We are putting an expansion onto our house and when they opened the wall, they found extensive (very extensive) termite damage. So In addition to the uncontrolled chaos of having my home torn apart and remodeled, I am dealing with a rather expensive termite treatment bill (and they just keep finding more). Finally, I have a convention coming up that I serve on staff for (running the entire game room and taking care of the website). This has left me frazzled and has overcome my depression meds to the point that I am on the edge of a razor over the abyss.

I am not shutting the game down, just letting you know that my posts will be even more sporadic for the next several weeks until we get this resolved (hopefully by the end of the month). I will try to update as often as I can, but please be understanding if there is a long delay.

I fully understand. In So. Cal. I have see what termites can do and how expensive it can be to repair. Once repairs are done you should tent the house for good measure.

Okay, the convention is passed, so I can breathe again. I tried to make an update last week, but the site locked me out and with the convention, it has taken until today to fix it. Termite problems continue. My wife and I are sleeping on the couches because our bedroom wall has a large hole in it and are eating out every night because we can't get into our kitchen to cook. Dust is everywhere from their drywalling and sanding and paint fumes fill the house. However, I should be able to resume semi-regular posting in the next day or two.
