Hey Toothy, you may recognize me as Camrad from Fabian's game. I'm strongly considering a half orc skald who is normally kind and peaceful, but is forced into action in order to protect the forests that are threatened by the world wound.

Could be a skald, totemic skald or voice of the wild (bard). Leaning heavily towards totemic skald because it'll let me be a singing bear.

@Dreaming Warforged: No questions at all! Just the alias you chose for him... Jesus, if that isn't an ugly one! Even if trying to save people they would run from him for sure...

@Nella: Much like Velkaria, Nella also looks great... the only one point though would be the Vrock in her background... isn't this demon too powerful?

@Rennaivx: Both Kaede and Arrika look great! Really interested in what you'll come up with!

@sentaiexpress: Hi! Your idea looks nice, just take a look at the list because there is another player with a half-orc skald! No problems at submitting a similar concept, just make sure to be different from him!

And this is getting harder and harder...

Also, I decided to close this recruitment earlier than expected, since we already have many awesome PCs... so you'll have until Sunday night to dot for interest and then until Tuesday to finish everything, so:

END OF INTEREST CHECK: Sunday 21st at night

DEADLINE TO FINISH APPLICATION: Tuesday 23rd at night

Ahah! Yes, I wanted to have someone who did not look heroic at all, yet responding to a higher calling. It puts his romantic feeling towards his mentor in a different light.

Seems like I hit the mark ;)

Vindlér's backstory has been updated. If anyone has any more questions/suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Shadow Lodge

I think I would like it if your Bio was on the Alias as well as the backstory vignette. The vignette has the really important things but it would be nice to still be able to see those other backstory elements.

I like it though. A little over the top with the supernatural stuff for my tastes, but that's just a preference thing and not a comment on your writing skills. Solid work and it looks like you had a lot of fun writing Vindlér.

Alright, Arrika has a good start on a story now. I've got a question, though - none of the campaign traits really fit her as she stands right now. And the one that comes closest, Touched By Divinity, is linked to a mythic path that doesn't do that much for me (Hierophant) and could possibly step on a real divine caster's toes, since most divine casters want the Hierophant path. How big of a deal is it to pick a campaign trait that doesn't match the mythic path you take?

It also really depends on worshipping a particular, setting-established deity, and Arrika doesn't - she worships her eidolon Kelumarion. Is there a chance I could use the Good domain for the trait's benefit, thus gaining protection from evil 1/day as a spell-like ability? It's probably the most thematic domain for the situation, but since Kelumarion isn't going to grant domains, there's really nothing to work off of unless we go with GM fiat like that. (I don't really care about the holy symbol, since Kelumarion's not going to have one - if you want me to have it, it could be Iomedae's, since she was raised by the Iomedaean church.)

EDIT: Or the Agathion subdomain would make sense. ;) In that case, it would be shield of faith 1/day as a spell-like ability.

@Vindlér: I really like your improvements in his background.

@Rennaivx: Arrika is looking pretty good! About the trait it is kind of tricky... if we think a trait as a 'half-feat', if you take the associated path it becomes a 'full-feat'. It basically improves the benefits of the trait but it is also not the end of the world if you take another path, since the Mythic Rules are already really powerful. About the domains, I've looked into the Inner Sea Gods and there is a NG Empyrial Lord that favors the lion, Eritrice, so I think it is a good fit to base the domains... so I'll allow the following: Charm, Good, Knowledge, Nobility, and also the Agathion, Leadership, Memory, and Thought subdomains.

I'll probably just suck it up and take Touched by Divinity, then. There's actually enough boosts to summons and eidolons in Hierophant that it may be worth taking as her path - even some that would give her some healing ability, which I kind of like with her being sort of a heathen priestess and all. Or I'll just take another path and deal with losing the extra benefit. No skin off my nose.

So with that she should be close to done; I'll get the final adjustments together over the next day or two. I have no preference on Kaede v. Arrika, by the way - pick whichever's going to be a better fit character-wise and composition-wise. I just like building characters, I've wanted to play with the god-caller concept for a while, and I had Kaede sitting around being all thematically perfect and retired. :)

EDIT: Scratch the almost-done - her story's pretty much there, but her crunch has a ways to go. She'll get finished, though.

EDIT THE SECOND: Kaede's going to take Touched by Divinity as well, and will definitely look toward the Hierophant path. Is it all right if I use the Green Faith as the model for the trait abilities?

Rennaivx wrote:

Sure and for the associated Domains you may use any of the Elemental domains, as well as the Animal and Plant. I guess their subdomains would also be appropriated, or even a Terrain Domain.

The vrock is indeed powerful but it was the only demon I could think of that wouldn't be cliche. Balor was too powerful and I needed something that relished carnage so vrock was what I picked.

Archlich here! As I talked to the GM via PM, I'm withdrawing my application with Alliah Heineous, and I'm applying with Donnen Phelps. :) I hope you guys love his concept as much as I do.

Glad you guys like the changes!

@Kubular: I may change the bio to a bullet point kind of timeline. That way, I don't have two walls of text for people to read through, but I'll still give the high points of Vindlér's family and occupational history. Do you think that would be a good compromise?

@GM Toothy: I'm glad you like the changes. As you can see from the end of the new backstory, I'm looking at the Touched by Divinity trait, which gives the free silver holy symbol and the other buffs. As an alternative, and with some slight changes to the backstory, I could also go for the Exposed to Awfulness trait. In either case, I'll probably go for the Defender Mythic path, but obviously time will tell what will happen there. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see on Vindlér's personality, backstory, etc.

Silver Crusade

@ Vindler: sounds like what I did.....

Surprised still that no other feedback on Sabrina... Guess she's perfect then...

@Sabrina: They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery right? ;) Seriously, though, I enjoyed your writing, so I adopted your style for Vindlér's story. Hope that's ok!

Silver Crusade

all is good, I'm glad to see my idea has inspired others.

As I was inspired from another Wrath recruitment when I created Sabrina.

@Nella: What is your thoughts about a Schir? You'd need more than one to do the job of defeating your tribe though... You need not to change it though, just an idea. (I assure you it'll not weight neither in your favor or against it!)

@Donnen Phelps: Added to the list.

@Sabrina: As (I think) I said you before, I have nothing to add to Sabrina, she is pretty awesome the way she is!

Silver Crusade

@ Toothy: I was actually looking for some ideas from other applicants that way I can get a general feel for what kind of players I may be adventuring with and maybe pick up some ideas on how to connect back stories.

Sabrina De'Foe wrote:

I think GM Toothy said that he would do that with those players finally selected.

Meant to have this up yesterday, but had to run errands then I ended up watching a movie with the family. FYI, The Visit is one eff'd-up movie, and what's weird is that I couldn't guess the ending until most of the way through. One of M. Knight's greatest works. Anywho, here's the updated bio!

Revised Fluffy Bits:
Jarone, last name unknown and unwanted, was raised in an orphanage in Mendev, more than likely one of the children left behind by parents lost in battle. A charismatic child, Jarone was able to wow his minders with well-turned phrases and facial expressions. Unfortunately, as many orphan kids do, he fell in with the wrong crowd. While he didn't have much skill in outright thievery, he found his niche as a conman and hustler, using his way with words to cheat the masses out of their hard-earned copper. Unfortunately for him, making a name isn't the best thing to do.

Trying out a new con in new territory, Jarone didn't know that the turf had been claimed by a different gang. Knocked out and dumped into the sewers, Jarone had the unfortunate luck to be dumped out near the border between Mendev and a demon encampment. Lost and confused, he wandered for days, too scared to eat or drink what he came across, he found himself delirious from lack of sustenance. Unknowingly, he had been going deeper and deeper, until he knew he would die there.

But when he had lost all hope, an angel sent from heaven came down to save him. Well, an angel for him, anyway. He didn't know who she was, but the most remarkable thing he remembered, other than her beauty, was the small symbol of Desna she constantly clutched in her hands as she quietly led him through the demonic hoard. When a small band of Iomedaen paladins and low templars came across him during a patrol, Jarone turned around to thank the woman, but he found himself alone.

After being brought back to Mendev, to see if he could find out more about his mysterious savior, Jarone found the nearest chapel dedicated to Desna, and over the years he found a sort of stability that had been missing in his life previously. And, when he came of age, he gave his life over to the Desnan faith.

Also, decided to go with the cleric VMC, thought it was fitting. Would you allow me to start with proficiency in the starknife since I'm a member of the Desnan church?

As much as I'd like to play in a Wrath game, I believe I'm going to withdraw my interest as I'm just not feeling my character idea and I've not been able to come up with any alternatives either. Good luck to the rest of you and I'm sure that no matter who gets selected, it'll be a great game! :)

I'll have to think about it. But I think the Schir might work better than a vrock and might make things believable (as believable as you can in a fantasy world ;P ). I'll have to try and change that quickly since I'm at work right now. And thank you for the suggestion! Appreciate it!

Toothy, if I may re-submit a character from a previous wrath campaign that unfortunately died midway through , I think, book one.

Thnx

Just FYI, I'm bouncing around now on whether I want to go domain or animal companion on Kaede, and which domain or animal companion. I'll definitely have it set by Tuesday, though, and her character's not going to change radically regardless. It's more reconsidering options that best fit her than changing her to pick the best options.

@DekoTheBarbarian: Sure, I'll allow the starknife.

@Spazmodeus: Sure! If it is a good PC, I see no reason to not allow it!

@Rennaivx: Not to pressure you but intending to help in your decision, I'd say to get the domain, especially because Kaede's companion is a large creature. Besides Kaede there is only another player with an animal companion and two PCs with an eidolon and I do not intend to get two 'followers'.

@Arrika and Donnen: You two are the only summoners and I'd like to know how do you intend to RP your eidolon... as just a weapon, as another PC, as something between them...?

Although Rasstraek is fairly silent, I think he's kind of "part" of what Donnen is. What I mean is that their dialog and relation is an important bit of my character.

With that said, the focus is on Donnen and, many times, my intention was to RP simply Donnen and assume Rasstraek would be there in silent in the back (even though, in other times, Rasstraek reactions and interaction, especially with Donnen, should be written).

To your question, I think it's something in-between, probably going more towards an almost silent PC. He is clearly the "muscle" of the duo :)

Well, one of the other PCs with an eidolon is mine as well, and I wasn't expecting you to pick both. ;)

I was actually leaning toward the domain for Kaede, for simplicity's sake on my part and yours, possibly Eagle or Plains domain. I will point out that I'm considering focusing a bit on Wild Shape, though, so there will likely be some dealing with large creatures on the map, although it won't be until higher levels. I realized I hadn't yet put up intentions concerning how she'll be played - it'll be up tonight, once I finally firmly decide on a plan myself. :)

As for Arrika, I intend Kelumarion to have just as much of a personality as her - he's kind of a shepherd to her, very protective and a voice of reason and experience to her youth and inexperience. I don't know if that works out better or worse for her being chosen, but he's definitely not going to be just numbers on a sheet. (He is going to be a quadruped, and will probably end up with the pounce-bite-claw-claw routine eventually, but I'm not rushing straight to it - I don't intend to try to outshine the party fighter, unless he ends up being the party fighter.)

Thanks! Jarone is basically finished, just need to finish up with his equipment and other items. I've decided that he'll be a melee fighter when needed, though focusing on throwing weapons -i.e. his starknife- especially when I can get the returning property for it.

Silver Crusade

@Rennaivx: I have my own personal views on summoners and ediolons but this is not the place for that discussion, I can discuss it privately if you wish.

Silver Crusade

Am finishing Adolina's backstory - will post tomorrow hopefully. :)

It's kinda gotten away from me as the 10 min background gave me so much to work with...

Grand Lodge

Sorry, but I'm gonna have to pull out of this one. I've got too many games on my plate right now.

Liberty's Edge

Dotting for interest. I've been waffling a little on which race/class combo I wanted to submit, but I wanted to express interest and I'll get my final decision posted by Tuesday.

@Toothy What are your feelings on the redemption rules in the player's guide?

And if anyone would like to send me a message to scrutinize Andune, give some tips and trips, and maybe share some format ideas for the character sheet that would be great! Or, even drop a note for some IC stuff to get a feel for our characters. Nothing canon, of course.

K
Here's Spazmodeus' submission.

I guess I'm just in time to express interest in this...
How does a dwarven smith/cleric of Torag sound? xD

Shadow Lodge

I've been working on a second character, but I'm not sure I like how its turning out. I was thinking about a Cleric but I just can't get her backstory right. Its just taking too much out of me to try to make her something original. I'll stick with Kai because I love him and hope I still get in.

@Vindler: That sounds like a good plan, although I guess most of his backstory is all there anyway.

@Andune: Minor nitpick; shouldn't the name order be Andune "Sheol" Variel Sil?

@DekoTheBarbarian: Nice work on Jarone. Glad to see you took what I said to heart.

I am withdrawing my interest, I have too many things going on right now to develop a character to the quality standards that this game deserves.

Good luck and have some great adventures!

@Kubular: Thanks. Of course, now that I've written that much for Jarone, I've found myself writing a big backstory for my other characters lol

I've gotten Kaede pretty much ready to go now - I went with the Plains domain instead of an animal companion, so we've got a haste a day the wizard doesn't have to prepare. I'll do final checks and polishing on both her and Arrika over the next day or two.

DekoTheBarbarian wrote:

Long, involved backstories are a drug. :D

Made some minor updates to Melchesiech.

Three people he knows:
Soumral: Senior priestess of Calistria, close friend and sometime lover. She was the first to notice the change in him; when his (in her eyes) insanity grew too strong, she sent him from her side and barred him from the temple where she served. She left him only a symbol of the Goddess, a sign that when this madness of order had run its course he would again be welcome. (It is a mark of her regard for him that she managed to restrain her tendency to vengeance, though it may also be that she thought he was doing far worse to himself than she ever could.) Though he does not wear it openly, he still carries the holy symbol with him as a reminder of better times.

Jaren Edasseril: Magus and cousin of the Queen of Kyonin, teacher and friend. Jaren was one of Melchesiech's instructors in the arcane arts. After Soumral cut Melchesiech off and the wizard was seriously reconsidering his choice, Jaren convinced him that the Elven government, at least, backed efforts against the Worldwound. It was Jaren who provided him the egg from which his familiar hatched; Melchesiech suspects that Tranh, his familiar, is related to the Queen's hawk familiar.

Bert Blackwillow: Halfling historian and scholar, passing acquaintance and teacher. Because Kyonin's schools of history focus far more on elves and their doings than the more ephemeral peoples who inhabit the rest of Golarion, Melchesiech sought out a well-regarded non-elf when he wanted to learn something more about the roots of the Worldwound. While the halfling's enthusiasm was occasionally distracting to the still-somewhat-conflicted elf, his expertise was useful.

Well, I intend to use it but it has two 'sides'... the PCs that wish to become 'nicer' and to redeem the Bad Guys.

I'm not yet sure how I'll handle the Bad Guys part since it depends on the PCs if they want to pursue this path or not. It'll be pretty easy to track the deeds a TN PC seeking to become NG would do but to track those of every Bad Guy would require the PCs to be in constant contact with them... so it is up to them!

GM Toothy wrote:

Right. I'd imagine that the responsibility of leading a misguided villain back towards the path of heroism is on the heroes of the adventure.

Should be easy it only take 4 or 5 moments to be a hero.

Totally gonna redeem all the bad guys. Because as a self-absorbed all mighty LN "dragon", that would be hilarious.

awww, don't be like that... I just haven't written him all out yet xD

mind if I roll some appearence based stats before I get my backstory going?
7d6 + 40 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4) + 40 = 55 years old
2d4 + 9 ⇒ (3, 2) + 9 = 14 inches and 3 feet tall
2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 x7 + 150 lbs

The kind that make you stay awake, tripping for 7 hours until you get tired of it and pass out on the couch at 3 AM. Then when you wake up for work its still all you can think about and you can't wait for your next hit.

Now that that's out of the way, I think the subject of redemption should always be a roleplay decision first. I think it's especially appropriate for this AP and I am glad they encourage it by giving it a section in the Player's Guide.

For Kai, redemption is going to be important to his personal arc. His brothers have been brainwashed and may have been forced to do evil things to survive. The line is a little blurry, but redemption is just as much a part of rescuing in this case.

Taus Arkona wrote:

If you use the pointy end of your sword in their bellies! Otherwise, it takes some real effort making a villain realize their ways, and help them.
