OK, so Mel levels up too, taking another magus level.
This gives him level 3 spells. He learns Force Punch and Daylight.
Aside from the 16PP for the raise dead, he makes the following purchases.
Player donations -3000
Restoration(x2) 2560
Potion of Darkvision 300
Potion of Lesser Restoration 300
Scroll of fly 375
Scroll of Gust of Wind 150
Scroll of Slient Image 25
Scroll of Keen Edge 375
Ioun Torch (x2) 150
Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds 300
Scroll of Heroism 375
Scroll of spiritual weapon(x2) 300
Scroll of longstrider(x2) 50
The first two potions and 3 scrolls are replacing what he used this last adventure. I'm assuming his ioun torch resumed working. So why buy two more, you ask? So he can distribute them to other party members as needed (or just have backups). He plans to give the spiritual weapon scrolls to party clerics in case we meet any more incorporeal. One of the longstrider scrolls are for Quiella, since they have a duration of 1 hour. Maybe he'll try to UMD the other?
Does any of that make sense?
I was going to try to get ghost touch added to my cold iron hand axe, but the costs confused me. At first I was thinking it would only be about 2K, but then I saw something else saying it was the same as a +3 enhancement. Plus, PCGen was acting like I needed to put a +1 on the axe even before that. So I guess not.

![]() |

PCG was correct. You would need to have a +1 Weapon (2k), then you could upgrade that to a ghost touch for the “equivalent” of a +3 Weapon (16k if I recall correctly), so for a little over 18k you would own it.
Mel, Valik will also pitch in 1k gold to help raise you/restoration spell you.

![]() |

GM, awesome. I'm still going to buy the two ioun torches I had listed above, though. I'll just toss them at other party members or keep them in my pocket as a spare. (I would have loved to have seen the frustration on that drow leader's face if, after she dispelled my active ioun torch, I would have simply pulled out another! :) )
Valik, thanks! But now I'm confused. Do I get to keep it as gold or do I need to do some crazy math stuff to apply it to the 16pp res cost?
4000 - 2560 = 1440 gold.
1440 - (3*375) = 315 gold.
So the rez only cost me (16-3= 13) PP and I have 315 'extra' gold to put toward my Tesla fund. Right?

GM Harker |

Mel, you can't mix pp and gp expenditures, so you'll either have to purchase Raise Dead with either all pp or all gp.
Also, characters can't give each other money per se, unless it's something like sharing spell costs.
So, you'll either need to pay for the Raise Dead with gp, using the other player's donations, or you use PP and give them their money back. If they are cool with it, you could use some of the donations to pay for the Restoration, but they'll be getting some gp back.

![]() |

OK, this makes much more sense now!
I can only pay the full rez with PP.
The only thing I need gold for are the two restorations.
Splitting 2560 four ways, that means each wonderful person will only be out 640 gold. I like that much better! THANKS!

GM Harker |

Well, it's been a week since I PM'ed Ophelia and she hasn't responded despite being active on a different character. So, I'm going to assume she's opting out of the game. I'm Hiding in Your Closet can continue to join us if they wish, but it will need to be a different character to avoid zombie/paladin issues in the future.

Since "the pronoun thing" seems to have been brought up, I will say this: I have been keenly interested in addressing the English language's agonizing need for a proper unisex pronoun for years longer than the present vogue, but said present vogue appears to have gone in several of the wrong directions and none of the better ones, and I've realized I just can't stand 'they' as a personal pronoun for known, named, specific, entities; it just doesn't work, regardless of the rationalizations. I am *not* LEGION. If you are, that's called schizophrenia, and that's no fun.
Call me he/she/it/ith/Itt/thon/Thing/zir/late-for-dinner/self/JEB!/what-the-abyss-e ver feels right to you, but one thing I am not is a 'they'.
Voila! View the very vindication of virtue over vulgarity! VA-VA-VA-VOOM!

GM Harker |

I'll keep your pronoun preference in mind for the future, Vanzetti, but I will continue to use 'they,' 'them,' and 'their' to refer to others. I apologize in advance if that is going to bother you.
As for the character, I'll give it a detail look later before giving you a final okay.

![]() |

Please don't worry about it; it's just that the whole issue's become embarrassingly overinflated from stem to stern.

![]() |

For the record, I've just retrained a feat (spending 5 Prestige and 400 gold in so doing): Additional Traits => Dazing Spell.

![]() |

Vanzetti, the character sheet is fine. Although, if you are dropping the Feat Additional Traits please let me know which traits you are losing.
The ones I dropped were Freed Slave and History of Heresy. They and their statistical modifiers have already been removed.

I have updated Vailis to level 8.
I forgot to choose his level 7 feat, thus I have chosen now: Versatile Summon Monster (fiery and chtopic)
Dropping see invisibility for slow.
Dimension door for his new level 3 spell.
Also it seems he has not gone shopping in a long time (17000+ to). I tried to use his coin to partially compensate for our lack of cleric:
+1 elven chain
ring of protection +1
daylight oil
Bless weapon oil
Summoner's scrolls:
displacement
Locate creature
resist energy communal
breath water
dimension door
see invisibility x2
Cleric spells (to use with Vailis outstanding UMD):
delay poison x2
remove paralysis
lesser restoration
suppress charms and compulsions
silence
align weapon
tongues
cure serious wounds x2
Remove blindness
remove disease
freedom of movement
restoration x2
breath of life
And 2 PP for a new cure light wounds wand.

For what it's worth, I think you mean Cthonic.
Also, I happen to know the suppress charms and compulsions AND remove disease (!) spells, so perhaps you want to save the gold on those.
My UMD isn't as good as yours, but it's close specifically when using divine magic.

![]() |

Yes, that strange word I did mean, thanks for the correction.
Good thing you have access to those, I will keep them anyway as a backup, specially the suppress charms can be a party saver if we go bad after a confusion hit! :O

![]() |

Nota Bene: My Bloodline Arcana is an interesting and potentially powerful one: +1 CL my next turn after I suffer combat damage. I'd appreciate it if you could help me not forget it when it comes up.

![]() |

:O
I had forgotten she is a gnome. Sorry!!
And have a great trip.

![]() |

@Vanzetti, Sorry for blowing up your magic mouth. That was a great idea and I'm going to steal it if I ever get a chance! I think the shatter might be a better choice, but I'm willing to change my action if you've got another trick up your sleeve and/or I'm missing something.

![]() |

Considering that A) you precede me in initiative, B) if this were in person, we could have conferred more easily about what we could do, and C) it's certainly a more reliable method of saving him, I'd say that, if the DM permits it in light of A and B, perhaps I should and would like to change my action.

GM Harker |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

My general policy is regardless of the actual initiative rolls, whoever posts first in an initiative block acts first in that block. It saves us from a lot of ret-con headaches. Also, since it's a surprise round, you won't have a lot of time to confer to coordinate your actions.

![]() |

I will be at GenCon through Sunday.

![]() |

Yeah! Let's enjoy for as long as it takes :P

![]() |

Redotting this thread, just in case.

![]() |

It's ok Harker, we do all have moments of more and less activity.
Thanks for the heads up though!

Fly would be really handy for the lady that can hit really hard. Or the rogue that zaps people.
Sorry Quiella, I could only reach safely either Valik or the archon, and I just prefer a player to have the fun rather than a summon.

Quiella wrote:Fly would be really handy for the lady that can hit really hard. Or the rogue that zaps people.Sorry Quiella, I could only reach safely either Valik or the archon, and I just prefer a player to have the fun rather than a summon.
I realized that after posting. You're doing great.

![]() |

Sorry, this might have been a homerule by my local group to ease the handling of treasure identification, or perhaps a miss on reading the rules. I will try to remember on the following scenarios though.

![]() |

I am also busy with Halloween stuff!

![]() |

Super-duper sorry for the prolonged absence. I was feeling extra-terrible for a bit there.

![]() |

Hi, everyone. I've been contacted indirectly by the family of your GM, because he is in a coma and not expected to recover.
I found your GM's original post of the list of scenarios, but I'm not sure exactly where on that list you are. Can you tell me which scenario you are playing, so that I can try to find you a replacement GM, at least to finish the current scenario?
