Sorry you are not coming along but, like I told Sabola, we'll still game together in Hell's Rebels with your Thrune-hating sorceror.
"THRUNE"
Arodric |
@Sabola: yeah, I thought about it. I was like "if I do this and this, then I can do this, then it'll be like a different game." Thing is, I know there are people who love Barrier Peaks. If my issue is with the very theme Fabian is interested in exploring, I'm either going to dislike the game, or ruin it. Better to let someone who is excited about the themes have a slot.

So, ummm, Iron Gods, is that set in stone, or might you run something else? Giantslayer maybe?
Those were the two finalists but I decided on Iron Gods because of the tech element.
If it's any consolation, Giantslayer is in my future, probably next AP unless something much better comes along.
Alternity!

Tell me about it. I loved that game!
However, now a days it suffers from having to have to learn (relearn?) a new system and setting.
I'm still holding out for a Pathfinder post apoc game. I'll bite the bullet and even GM a third game if something good comes along.
Game on!

Fabian Benavente |
Thunderscape is a good setting but lacks a good adventure path. There's also no critical mass from which to select good players.

Sounds interesting but...
Homebrews are really hard to pull off. They take a lot of work (trust me) and most GMs fold and move on to something else (who me?) :)
I would have to see if the GM has some history supporting him (has he run other games?, what are they like?)
I'll look at it more closely in the next couple of days.
Fabian Benavente |
You Kickstarted Thunderscape too right? Isn't that where I caught up with you again? Is it a bad AP?
I did support the Kickstarter. I think that's where you did catch up to me.
How long have we been playing?
Only 2 of the 6 adventures for the AP have been produced (they're late) and from what I have seen, it was OK but just OK.

Buyer beware...
The guy has no posting history (25 total posts).
He could be 'new'; we all were at one point.
But he could also be one of those guys that gets everyone excited and then folds (or disappears).
Remember Roan? Great PC, very accommodating player during recruitment, and then disappeared within one week.
Kazmuk Doortsgarf |
Action 1, Round 3
Seeing the barrage of attacks his companions were bringing down the demon, Kazmuk instructed the Archon to further their efforts.
"Blessed ally, please, bring your holy light against the deep darkness!"
The Archon moves forward and send two rays of light against the demon.
Attack (touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Attack (touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Critical Attack? (touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Critical Damage?: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Kazmuk then moved forward while gesturing, touching Hedda and granting her great strength.
"Sunder them in half, girl!"
Moving to Hedda and casting Bull's Strength.

About the Iron Gods game, I might confess that I have a little prejudice against it and never really interested myself in it or even took a look in the players guide...
But, since you are the GM, I'll take a look tonight! You are an awesome GM and I trust you will do a great job.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. :)
Let me know tonight; there are already a couple of players discussing PC options.
Game on!

good heavens... did Hedda just do 6d6+24 damage? Her minimum would pretty much one-shot Arodric....
I have to think about whether Arodric is accepting this surrender... @Fabian: Does the wounded state he's in include the non-lethal damage the Ablative sphere turns 5 points of lethal into?

Wounded includes everything (lethal and non-lethal) since I did not bother to account for it separately (fight was easier than I thought).
Sabola |
Sabola slumped to the ground. He was in incredible pain, but there was still an opponent on the field, even if she was acting like she was done.
Sabola spit out some blood, his broken ribs grated together. He put away his daggers and drew his saps. He struggled to his feet and approached Ekira, "say it, you're done, let's hear it." It hurt to stand, but falling would hurt more.
Hedda Halbjørhus |
Hedda returned to her normal self and she stumbled a little in exhaustion but quickly masked it as she slowly walked over to Ekira. She kicked the woman's sword away and said,"I knew I didn't like you." She took up guard while they waited for her to explain herself.
The bloodrager sadly observed where the demon's taint had soaked into the ground of Dawnton and wondered who may be affected as a consequence of what had happened that day. Finding Tobias in the crowd Hedda said, "The prisoners should be freed."
Kazmuk Doortsgarf |
Kazmuk walked towards Ekira.
"So... this is Iomedae?" he walked closer and offered her a hand. "You should have noticed this demon was not Iomedae easily, but you were played nonetheless... just make sure you are right before convicting someone again."
Kazmuk looked again at the dead demon laying on the ground. He sighed."The worst part is that now we have no clue about the motive of the killings... do you think the demon made all this effort to just 'kill' some random people?"
Fabian Benavente |
Ekira looked from half-orc to dwarf; she was dumbfounded.
She then saw the dark stain on the pavement and recoiled in fear and disgust.
She looked up at the sky and wailed, "Why have you forsaken me?"
When no answer came, she offered her neck, "Go ahead. Do what you must..."

later
Tobias led them to the jail after he dispersed the crowd of onlookers. Knowing that there would be no hanging had dampened their mood but seeing a shadow demon slain was something they would tell their grandchildren.
The Pathfinders effusively thanked the companions for literally saving their lives. The dwarf leading the expedition said, "Perhaps we can now continue exploring the site but we went as far as we could. Would you be willing to help out?"
alright let's get some final RPing before I do the closing recap for the time being...
Arodric |
Arodric gripped his sword meaningfully, but in the end lurched away and started stabbing into the demon-dark stain on the road. Each strike raised bright flashes of blue light, and stone chipped under the onslaught. "If she so much as moves..." he warned the others.
Gruffly Arodric added "Well done Hedda. I didn't think I was going to make it." He looked around "Kaede - any chance of some healing? You can use my wand..." it was obvious from his inflection that he was in bad shape.
Kaede of Sarkoris |
The final swings from the demon and the man had surprised Kaede, nearly knocking the wind out of her. Fortunately, the others had done more to contribute to the demon's demise than she'd managed to, so she took a couple of moments to collect her thoughts while the others watched over Ekira. Arodric's entreaty finally shook her from her torpor.
Of course, she replied, taking the proffered wand and murmuring the Iomedaen prayers Arodric had taught her to activate it long before. Beginning with the nearly-fallen swordsman, Kaede worked her way to the rest of her allies, healing their wounds before taking care of the chips and gouges in her own stony form.
And as she passed Ekira, she couldn't help but mutter in a low, rumbling growl. See, Ekira? I may be a heathen witch, but Iomedae answers my prayers. For emphasis, she drew the wand over one of her injuries and began knitting it together. I wonder if the same will be true for you?
But Ekira's anguished cry to the heavens in reply shook Kaede. Our accustomed prayers may be different - but for all that, maybe we're more alike than I knew...my cry last week was just the same, after all... For all her harshness, Kaede moved toward Ekira and the slender man lying unconscious on the ground, Arodric's wand still in hand. She looked toward the others, gesturing toward the fallen foes and waving the wand in a questioning gesture. Should I? she mouths.
Hedda Halbjørhus |
Hedda turned towards the man who had accused them and roughly shook him to consciousness. "How'd you get involved in this?"she growled. "Make no mistake, you move or run and I will do to you what I did to that demon...only slower."

kind of forgot he was there but I am curious as to how he fits into all this.

The man came awake in a rush and his first instinct was to grab for his weapon but Hedda slammed the skinny man down.
He struggled to no avail and when he saw that his situation could not any worse, he started to curse and damn the woman pinning him down.
The bloodrager noticed that he was missing a button much like the one that Kaede had shown her...
Hedda Halbjørhus |
"You can curse all you want but you aren't going anywhere." When Hedda saw the missing button she knew that Slim Jim had been out to Otto's farm.
"Looks like this waste of skin was out at Otto's farm. Kaede, you may want to give him back his button." Dragging the man to his feet the bloodrager sneered, "Care to explain yourself?"

He sneered, or tried to as much as hedda allowed him.
"Go ahead and kill me, if you dare. I only answer to the Demon Lord Shax. It was he who saved me from anguish and instructed me to spread fear and pain in this land. Go ahead. Kill me and I'll come back to haunt you as a shadow demon. I promise!"
Kaede of Sarkoris |
At Hedda's comment about the button, Kaede looked up from Ekira to see the man squirming beneath Hedda's boot on the ground, and her hand strayed to her pocket, where the button still sat. With pounding step, she walked over to him.
"Shadow demon? Well, not much we can do about that, I'm afraid. See, thing is, there's no avoiding you dying someday, and if you're so high in his favor, you're damned regardless. There's a fair bit we can do about the trouble you can cause now, though."
As she speaks, her form fades from the tiny, hulking boulder to her own shape, then to the huge, bristled dire wolf from camp several nights before. With a half-whispered prayer, her fangs begin to glow with a faint white radiance. And then, with a vicious snarl, she goes for the bare throat of the man lying helpless beneath Hedda's boot.

Sabola |
Sabola was rubbing his bruises and scars, which was all that remained of his mortal wounds now that he had been healed. He observed the actions of his companions, especially Kaede, and observed, "so that got interesting, really quickly."
Kazmuk Doortsgarf |
"Wait!..." Kazmuk yelled, just to see Kaede killing the man. He sighed. "...the man should have been told that if he eventually comes back as a shadow demon, we'll probably be long gone... It is a long way from a little lemure to a shadow demon..."

"Good. All the more disappointment for the bastard," Kaede replied with a snarl, looking up with anger flashing in her eyes. "It's better it's a surprise."
Kaede of Sarkoris |
Thanks, everyone! It was a pleasure to hunt demons with you. To those who aren't going on to Iron Gods, best of luck in taking down Barzillai Thrune. May the Silver Ravens fly high. :)
Arodric |
Sigh. Good game, people. Sorry I went quiet there at the end - computer troubles at a very inconvenient time.
I really hope Iron Gods goes well for everyone, and those of you not fighting THRUNE I'll see in another game, in time.
