The Cloak of Resistance purchased by Cadas is fully paid, with no balance due, and you may add that to your character (if you haven't already).

I can continue the RotRL storyline, in which events will start to happen, rather than focusing on Thistletop at present.

The demon/creature Malfeshnekor is a CR7 encounter which would be considered "epic" for an APL of 4. I want to give the leeway to make the decision, but taking on Malfeshnekor even at full power, may end up being a fatal decision.

Marcellano votes to go explore Thistletop--he'd at least like to take a look, for archaeological interest--but won't insist on fighting the barghest. He's obsessed, but not suicidal. That said, if I get any useful info, I may be able to help out...I have scroll of Protection From Evil (Communal) I can cast at CL+1. Knowledge rolls may lead me to other useful spells to prepare...I'm more than happy to unload everything in my book, if need be.

It was. But the monster was hitting Korvek while rolling a 3. It would hit Kizzy on a 6, and she has a great AC.

First, the monster knew we were coming and had multiple buffs up. Second, going back to Thissletop is a separate decision from trying to take out the Barghest(?). We are NOT voting on taking on the demon yet. We are voting to clear Thistletop and then consider the demon.

I have already stated this once, but to be clear, Cadas votes to go back and clear Thistletop, except taking on the demon. I had said that after we have cleared everything else AND rested we can make a call then if we feel strong enough to go back after the demon. It has been locked away for a long time. If we are not confident that we can take it, its better for everyone to leave it locked away. IIRC the DC to find the secret door leading to the demon was pretty high and I bet that many parties never even find it.

We may fine good treasures that can assist in the final task. It would not be the first time that mod writers include items in the dungeon specifically for dealing with a final boss. But we can decide AFTER we have cleared the place.

Doing this now should gain us at least some measure of additional wealth and exp. How can that be bad?

Rogers not one for leaving a citadel in enemy hands, that said, Rogar also has an Oath that prevents him from wielding any weapon other that his shield until he finds Foebreaker.

The oath issue will be relevant no mater what enemy we face though. I am unsure if its a deciding factor in this decision, is it?

My thought is that whatever awaits us in Thissletop (except maybe that final creature) will be easier to deal with that whatever we will meet in the next setting.

I'm fine clearing everything except the demon. As long as we're prepared with magic weapons/spells to hit incorporeal creatures, we should do okay against the shadows. So that's a majority.

There's also a majority that agrees not to fight the demon itself.

Sounds like the momentunm is to go back to Thistletop and clear the uncleared areas, then evaluate whether or not taking on the Barghest is a good idea. Will have a morning post up where you can start the ride out.

Aye, with discounts on both ends of buying magic and selling MW, she should net a payment of 866 gp and have the +1 heavy steel shield.

Sorry, I am in Breckenridge Colorado for a quick ski trip. I hope to have time to post some, but that did not happen this first travel day. Totally exhausted and have to get up early. I'll be home Sunday.

We went down to see family last weekend, during which I was starting to get a cold. So just as I said I was going to be back, tragedy struck again. For those in the U.S., I'm not sure if you heard about the small plane crash in Illinois right after the NCAA tournament, but one of the individuals flying it was a long time family friend and another was the cousin of one of my best friends. Needless to say it's been a rough April for me thus far.
