Hedran conjurs some acid and lobs it at the closest one, it melts away some of the creatures stone like skin. Thyra moves up as she casts a spell on herself bolstering her defenses. Cameron follows behind stabbing the thing, causing more black ichor to ooze out of the creature. Nessa, follows Hedran's lead conjuring some acid and she hits the creature the acid eats into Cameron's already deep wound, causing it to drop to the ground dead with a loud thud.

Perception - Thyra/Cameron DC20:
Up ahead where the tunnel branches to the west you hear noise, something is moving in there.

Sarai silently pulls back another arrow, releases her breath, and let’s it loose through the melee toward the second creature.

mwk shortbow (point blank shot, fire into melee): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 201d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Sarai, I think you need -4 for firing into melee, and another -4 due to cover :P

Dak, how high are the tunnels? I am wondering if I could levitate and stand above Thyra.

Cameron lunged once more but this time he found the cramped environment to be awkward, the haft of his spear scraped along the tunnel's deflecting his aim.
Longspear, power attack: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 1 = 8Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 3 = 14

Also something else distracted him, something moving in the tunnel ahead. "Ware!" he hissed, "something in the western tunnel!"

Nessa was quite pleased with the results of her spell and jumped up and clapped her hands in delight. "Let's do it again!" She cast the same spell targeting the other of the creatures.
acid splash: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d3 ⇒ 1

No, she's right, the cover gives the target an AC bonus IIRC.

Weird I thought I had posted yesterday...

Sarai's arrow strikes the hanging monster, drawing more black ichor but the creature still hands on to life. It forms a ball of light in its toothy maw and then expels it toward Sarai.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

The shocking bolt just barely misses Sarai instead scorching the nearby cavern wall.

Round 2
Sarai, Enemy1, > Hedran/Thyra/Cameron/Nessa, Enemy2

Thyra swings at the foremost creature with her hammer, trusting in her magic to help keep her safe, and her allies to help dispatch the enemy.

Hammer Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Hammer Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 = 12

Am I reading the map correctly? The first of the creatures is dead? If so, Thyra would be stepping into the next square. I just didn't want to assume.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

CotCT | HR | MM | RoA | RotRL1 | SD | SS1 | SS2 | WftC_1 | WftC_2 |

As Hedran considers his next step Thyra steps up and smacks the badly injured creature with her hammer. It crumples with the blow and drops to the ground dead.

Hedran/Cameron/Nessa please adjust as appropriate. We are staying in Init.

Nessa Meretrix wrote:

How so?

Hedran wrote:

Still want to know this ;)

Being too far back, the Magus prepares to cast another acid spell if any enemy presents itself.

Readying Acid Splash.

Cameron brushes past Thyra and glances at the dead creatures and suppresses a shiver at their alieness. Readying his spear he whispers, "Something tells me this isn't over..."

GM I'm not clear if Cameron can actually stand there, I'm hoping there'll be room for the others to move up.

Readied action: Attack the next enemy:

Longspear, power attack: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 1 = 22Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 = 10

Possible he might get an AOO...
Longspear, power attack: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 1 = 17Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 3 = 15

Seeing her target drop Nessa held her spell on the tip of her tongue ready to cast at the next enemy to appear as she didn't think this was ober yet either.

If I understood you right you thought she should have a -4 into melee and -4 into cover. It is actually a -4 into melee, her target gets +to AC for the cover. It's a difference of who applies the modifier and to what. I don't know that it matters but I'm sure it does somewhere or they wouldn't right it up that way.

CotCT | HR | MM | RoA | RotRL1 | SD | SS1 | SS2 | WftC_1 | WftC_2 |

@Hedran Oof sorry, yeah that post I wrote that magically disappeared I had said that no the ceiling is too low for you to levitate over anyone.

As Cameron moves up and tells the others there is something else around the bend, Nessa and Hedran prepare for more vile creatures. As Cameron moves up something horrible smelling wafts in from the northern passage, it smells like a much worse version of what the group had smelled in the basement of the Gold Goblin.

Not long after an oversized, dull gray, scaly hide lizard, with a long tail and crests on its head and back comes around the corner with a club in hand. As he does the smell it exudes washes over the rest of the group, several other stinky creatures follow behind with javelins at the ready, as well as some sort of cat sized, odd looking bug. that appears to be a cross between an insect and a fungus. Its cricket-like grame bears a large spongy head split by a gaping mandible-flanked maw filled with needle-like teeth.

So everyone will need to make 4 Fort saves, each DC13 to avoid being sickened for 10 rounds. @Cameron you get up to 5 AoOs, one on four of the lizard-men (though with partial cover due to the cave wall) and one on the insect. After the AoOs I will apply your readied attack. Rolling their attacks will adjust if you kill any.

Attack-B: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Attack-: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

While the lizard creatures are not very effective with their attacks the fungal insect is as it bites Cameron in the thigh and he feels poison burning in the wound.

DC14 Fort save to avoid: Con Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1 Str Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Don't recall who Knowledge about the troglodyte scent before but you would recognize the lizard creatures as troglodytes.

Know. Dungeon - Insect DC13:
You recognize this creature as a fungal crawler. It is part insect and part plant and thus is resistant to things that are plants are such as poison, paralysis, mind-effects, sleep and stuns.

Know. Dungeon - Insect DC18:
In addition to the above you know that these creatures have a poisonous bite that slowly saps ones strength and vitality. They are also capable of leaping great distances as part of a brutal attack.

Hedran/Nessa don't forget to do double actions, one for your held action and then one for your round 3 action.

Round 3
> Sarai/Hedran/Thyra/Cameron/Nessa,
Enemy2

That´s ok Dak, no worries. Thanks for the info ;)

Hedran manages to stave off the insidious smell and keep his focus - "Thyra push forward - we need to get out of these closed quarters" - he grunts as he lets fly the magical attack (probably to no avail).

I am going to delay until after Thyra's actions - if she risks pushing forward, I will follow up and attack.

"The bug thing is a fungal crawler, I have studied them" - the Magus shares with his companions - "They are some sort of perverse fusion of animal and plant, resistant to poison, paralysis, mind-effects, sleep and stuns. It is also venomous, and able to leap great distances for a brutal attack"

Something disgusting approached and brushed past Cameron and he set about them with his Spear!

Hedran lobs contjured acid at the insect as it rushes towards Cameron, but the bug is too quick and he misses. Nessa follows suit but toward one of the lizard men, however unlike Hedran she connects with her target. Sarai tries to get a shot off but the overwhelming smell of the creatures gets to her and her arrows clangs against the cavern walls instead of actually hitting anything. Hedran still focusing on the bug, manages to hit it now that it isn't scurrying about. Thyra moves up as she calls on Torag to bless her in the battle ahead. Nessa tries hitting the already injured lizard man again but this time she isn't as lucky as the acid lands on the floor instead.

Yes Thyra, you would get an AoO on the bug

With Thyra so close the one lizard pulls out a club to attack her while the others maintain their focus on Cameron tossing more javelins at him.

Attack-Thyra: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Sarai takes a shot at the closest troglodyte, one already badly injured and puts it down with her shot. This opens up the way for Thyra to move up as she attacks the next one.

Hammer Attack,Sick: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 2 = 7
Hammer Damage, Sick: 2d6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 - 2 = 6

The stench gets the better of her though and she accidentally hits the cave wall instead of her intended target. Cameron stabs at the next closest troglodyte, seemingly unconcerned for the fungal bug next to him for the time being, he sticks his spear into the lizard mans gut drawing a deep flow of blood. Nessa blasts the one that Cameron just injured nearly knocking it off its feet between the two blows, but it is still alive.

Hedran go ahead and go.

Was travelling for the past two days - updating now:

Hedran takes a step forward, and launches an at attack at the persistent insect.

Tyra Attacks:

Only the one manages to scrape her with a claw, she manages to defend herself against all the other attacks. The insect unhappy with being smacked so hard by Hedran attempts to bite him instead of Cameron.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Luckily it misses the half-orc. More troglodytes start to filter in from the tunnel to the north, bringing with them new and horrible stenches.

Everyone except Nessa needs to roll 2 more fort saves this round, likely with more to come.

These ones toss javelins at Cameron since Thyra is behind the corner of the cavern wall.

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Nessa stepped over behind Thyra to see the active enemies batter and cast a spell again. She sent a glod of acid out at the lizard man straight ahead of her.

Impressed by how hard Hedran smacked the bug that had been attacking him, Cameron clapped Hedran on the back, shouting "Get em! Lady's luck be with you!"

Using bit of luck on Hedran. Until next round Hedran gets to roll each d20 twice and choose the better result. 2/5 used.

Fort 2 Luck: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Again Hedran staves off the nauseating smell as more of the creatures appear.

With a nod and a smile at the cleric as the blessing of luck leaves a tingle on his skin, he focuses on the insect again - "I hear you Cameron"

"Stand strong Thyra!" - he roars at his companion.

If the insect dies, Hedran will 5' step north, and next to Thyra.

Sarai nearly vomits as the smells just continue to get worse she keep dry heaving which makes it difficult to hit anything with an arrow. Hedran waits a moment for the others to go to see where he can help. Thyra smashes the already injured trogloydte and crushes his rib cage in, it gasps for air before falling to the ground dead. Cameron reaches over, seeing Hedran eyeing the bug again and gives him a minor blessing of luck. Hedran uses it to good effect smashing the bug again, but the vermin is persistent and continues to soldier on. Nessa moves up a bit to get a better aim, but it doesn't help as she lobs more acid that simply hits the cavern walls.

The reptiles keep spilling into the room, shifting to take the place of their fallen comrade and allowing another access to attack Thyra while the two in the back throw javelins at Cameron.

Thyra-Attack:

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Crowded and agitated the trogs almost fight among themselves as much as they fight the group and none of them manage to get a blow in. The bug tries again to bite Hedran.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

It gets closer this time, but luckily the magic protect Hedran keeps it from biting into him.

Hedran does not show it, but he is definitely surprised at the insect's resilience against his attacks.

However, his logical reasoning shows no alternatives for now, since he has commited to this course of action, so he continues to assault the creature.

Sorry I wrote this post last night and forgot to hit send.

The tunnels made for an awkward battlefield especially with a spear, there was no room for manoeuvre. Still Cameron was a firm believer in making the best of the cards you've been dealt so he gritted his teeth as he fended off numerous attacks. He then awkwardly lunged at the appallingly smelly trogg in front of him!

Sarai tries to help by shooting an arrow but the stench is just too much for her still and she can't properly aim as she misses again. Thyra, having similar issues with the smell tries to attack, but she is just off from being so close to the horrible smell. Cameron jabs his spear into one of the troglodytes leaving behind a pretty serious injury. Hedran finally smashes the insect killing it, then steps up next to Thyra to help her combat the next enemy. Nessa unleashes another glob of acid, this time it is really well placed as it hits the one Cameron injured in the face burning out its eyes and dropping it to the ground.

More continue filtering in to replace the ones that fall, as if an endless wave of these creatures waits just beyond the far wall.

The ones closest to Thyra attack with claws and teeth while the ones at range throw more javelins at Cameron.

Thyra Attacks:
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 13

None of the javelins hit Cameron and Thyra only gets scratched for a small injury by one of the troglodytes while all their other attacks miss.

"There doesn't seem to be any end to them!" Thyra shouts over the sounds of battle, doing her best to keep her stomach from rebelling over the smell. Despite her words, though, she continues to swing at the enemy, hoping to find an end with steel.

Unable to attack without it being awkward due to the cramped environs, Cameron decided it was best to grant Hedran a little more of the Lady's Luck. Shaking his fist he spoke in a harsh whisper, "Get EM!"

Using bit of luck on Hedran who gets to roll d20s twice for the remainder of the round. 3/5 used.

With a smile at Cameron, and a snarl at the creature in front of him, Hedran swings hard.

Sarai can't help herself from gagging at the smell, which makes it really difficult to aim her bow. She looses another arrow that comes nowhere close to hitting any of the enemies. Thyra tries to bash the trog in front of her but she is having similar issues with the smell causing her to swing wide.

Cameron, thankful for Hedran's aid in dealing with the odd fungal bug that had been attacking him gives the half-orc a minor blessing to increase his odds in the battle. As luck would have it the blessing paid off allowing Hedran to land a solid blow on the troglodyte in front of him, but not enough to kill it.

Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 - 2 = 13
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Nessa tosses more acid, with everyone so close and fighting she barely manages to hit the one Hedran was fighting.

Tyra Attacks:

Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Luckily for Thyra, Torag's blessings are keeping her safe from the troglodytes attacks. Cameron narrowly avoids two javelins tossed at him.
