Noticing Thyra suffering from the stench, Cameron steps away from the front line and whispers encouragement, "You can do this! Get em!" And perhaps a bit of the Lady's luck rubbed off on her!

Cameron is using Bit of Luck (4/ 5 used) on Thyra. She is ahead of Cameron in Initiative but at the table I'd have asked her to delay until Cameron's turn.

Sarai is getting worn down between the horrid smell and the continued failure to hit anything. She still keeps trying though even if it meets the same end.

Cameron calls out for Tyhra to wait, letting him giver her a small blessing before she attacks. The blessing pays off as she manages to finally land a blow again.

Hedran smashes the one in front of him and then steps up to make sure no more can filter in. Nessa tosses some more acid, but doesn't get close to hitting one of the trogs.

Thyra Attacks:

Thyra I think with Cameron's reroll last round you passed one of the saves, so maybe you only need to make 1 this round? If so that 9 should have been for the attack roll giving you 13.

Cameron watched Thyra attack and he could see how badly affected she was by the stench. Truly it was awful and they'd all need to scrub themselves raw! Cameron could see that despite the power behind Thyra's strike she was going to miss so at the last moment he nudged her in what he hoped was the right direction!

Sarai casts a spell this time instead of using her bow, the sickness doesn't seem to hamper her as badly this time as the brutal snowball kills the wounded troglodyte. Thrya tries attacking the one around the corner, but with the partial cover of the wall she doesn't connect even with Cameron providing some assistance. Hedran steps up and smacks the troglodyte with his morningstar. Nessa moves up to assist her companions lobbing some acid again.

She manages to hit this time, but only burns it a little.

The two other trogs look at each other. One in the front calls back something in a strange tongue as the one who hasn't seen any battle as of yet turns and runs off. The two remaining trogs attempt to attack Hedran.

Hedran Attacks:

Sarai tries her bow again, but the sickening smell takes hold once again and throws off her aim. Thyra warns the others of the runner, but there isn't a lot they can do at this point with the tunnel being clogged up by other trogs, so she attacks hoping to clear a path. However, just like Sarai the sickening smell of the reptiles causes her to bump into the wall and swing wide.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Cameron tries to help as he jabs his spear at the closest one, even with the partial cover of the cave wall he manages to hit the creature and put it down. Hedran steps up trying to hit the next one, but almost trips on the recently killed trog and just misses. Nessa lobs some more acid which hits this time burning away at the remaining trogs flesh.

The last one hesitates, considering running but decides to hold its ground. However, the fear of being the last one standing is apparent as the troglodyte lashes out violently but too chaotically to even connect with Hedran.

With the whole group focusing on the last one, they manage to eventually put an end to it after a long battle.

Sarai eventually regains control of her stomach after a few minutes.

Thinking about using channel energy to heal folks up, did anyone apart from Thyra get hurt?

CotCT | HR | MM | RoA | RotRL1 | SD | SS1 | SS2 | WftC_1 | WftC_2 |

I only have Cameron down -8 and Thyra down -9, everyone else is fine.

Checking these rooms where the trogs were the smell is still pretty horrible. There is little of value, each troglodyte carried a club and three javelins. Moving north the rough floor of this cave has been overspread with several strange, pebbly hides to form bedding of a sort. The general detritus of habitation covers the floor as well as a number of heavy (and quite empty) glass wine bottles. The same musty stench that pervades the tunnels fills this area as well.

Sarai leads the way scouting ahead. Heading down the southern tunnel she comes to a room where the eastern portion of this chamber has collapsed in a tumble of rubble and earth. The collapse partially obscures the chamber but does leave room to access the tunnel exiting to the south west.

Sarai moves up ahead of the group trying to keep quiet. She heads into the tunnel where the floor descends in a series of gentle terraces. There is a constant dripping or water from the ceiling and puddles seem more prevalent here, gathering in 6-inch-deep pools in many places before draining into tiny cracks in the surrounding rock. The tunnel continues to the northwest for a bit before opening into another cavern.

This cavern is bathed in a strange orangish-purple glow that seems to reduce visibility rather than increase it, and in fact, seems to inhibit other light sources as well. The glow comes from a number of large rock nodules placed at intervals about the room. The eastern portion of the chamber is occupied by a still, black pool whose surface reflects the strange light.

As they continued on the harlot couldn't help but agree with Thyra and said, "Yeah, once we're done down here I think we need to collapse the tunnel."

Finding themselves in the next cavern with standing in the cavern with the strange black puddle and the lights Nessa looked at the puddle from a safe distance and said, "That is just strange, doesn't that water seem...wrong somehow?"

The pool does not seem to display any sort of magic, it just looks like a dark murky pool of water, likely oddly illuminated due to the nature of the strange crystals which are actively dimming the light in the room.

So essentially these rocks are actively dampening the light, even with the light spells instead of it being normal light it is only dim light from the light spells

Know. Dungeon DC13:
You recognize this creature as a grick, this terror of the caverns and tunnels in which it dwells, lays in wait near heavily traveled underground passages or subterranean cities for the chance to reach forth from the darkness and take its prey. Those laid low by a grick are rarely consumed on the spot. Instead, fresh food is hauled back to the grick’s lair in a tight burrow or high on a cavern ledge, where it is consumed in small bites at the grick’s leisure. There isn't much special about the creature aside from the fact that it is resistant to physical weapons that aren't enchanted by magic.

Hearing the sounds of Combat, Cameron whispers a short but fervent prayer. His words made everyone feel like the had an edge and Lady luck was smiling on them.

Casting Bless.

Gripping his spear, Cameron advanced in the direction Sari had gone. Looks like Cameron doesn't have a light source on the map so actually I don't know where to move him. He's going to go as far as he can see. Would be folly to blunder around in the darkness.

Cameron calls on Desna to bless himself and his companion as he hears fighting and Sarai scream in pain, deeper in the tunnels. He moves up to the edge of Thyra's light and he can hear the fighting just ahead but can't make anything out through the darkness. Nessa moves up as well, her sight unhindered by the darkness ahead she see the pair of creatures attacking Sarai and unleashes a spell, the balls of force slam into the nearest creature.

Before Sarai even has a chance to react the creatures violently lash out at her trying to bit at her as their tentacles strike out at her as well.

Sarai Attacks:

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Both of the creatures bite into her again and one hits her with one of its tentacles and Sarai is looking in pretty bad shape.

Guess I'm going to have to wait for Thyra to move :) He's after her in initiative anyway. Note to self, Cameron should maintain the Light cantrip after this combat.

AC5 / HP8

Will go after Sarai - plan is to use Vanish, then move in to melee range. Preferably to Sarai's position, if not then next to her.

Hearing the commotion ahead, Thyra dashes forward, only to see Sarai on the ground, with the two strange creatures hovering over her. She swings the head of her hammer in an under-handed arc, so as to catch the beast under it's beak-like jaw.

When Thyra advanced, Cameron was able to see what was going on and advance. He tried to sneak his spear past her to skewer the closest enemy but it was tricky - he really didn't want to stick Thyra by mistake and so his attack was easily parried.

Yeah I'm going to have to take that phalanx formation feat at lvl 5, these tunnels are going to be so frustrating otherwise.

Looks like, even with all those attacks vs. flat-footed, I still only took 11 dmg, right?

Sarai cries in pain with all the attacks, cursing herself for not seeing it coming.

She draws her rapier and attacks one of them, hoping her companions will put them down quickly.

-10 in Total to Sarai is what I have.

Sarai stabs at one of the creatures that had attacked her, but she finds her blade doesn't even seem to penetrate its hide. She steps back to get away from the second one. Thyra moves up as quick as she can to help out Sarai, bringing the light with her. She slams into the creature, but her weapon barely leaves a scratch on the thing, definitely not what she had been expecting after the solid blow.

Hedran casts a spell as he disappears and moves into the room. Cameron now able to see with Thyra's light, tries to stab past her, but he can't find a good opening and ends up missing. Nessa, blasts the closest one to her with magic missiles that slam into it and seem to do the full force of damage she would expect.

The one creature continues trying to eat Sarai, while the other turns its attention to Thyra who had barely injured it.

Attacks:

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

The one creature does a real number on Sarai, biting her and cutting her up with two of its tentacles. The one on Thyra also manages to bite her, but only hits her with one tentacle. Either way, both of the woman are looking pretty banged up, but Sarai looks like she is almost done for.

The sound of the things eating Sarai made Cameron feel sick. He had to do something and besides Lady Luck favoured the bold, so he sprinted past Thyra and Hedran and jumped over Sarai followed by a forward roll to avoid the tentacles.

Sorry for any confusion. I thought Sarai was down to -5 HP... not down by 5. Also, if I'm reading this right, Thyra should be down by 6, I believe.

Thyra takes note of the precarious position that Sarai is in. "Hold on Sarai! Hold out as long as you can!" She yells out to her companion. She then focuses her energy towards defense, muttering a prayer to be a bastion for her allies.

Really need to invest in some Breastplate or something for Thyra. :p

Nessa could hear the sounds of Sarai getting slowly torn apart and eaten and found this to be a blasphemy in the eyes of her goddess. Without thinking she cast her last spell of any real note and sent a pair of magical missile slamming into the beast chewing on the other tiefling.

Hedran suddenly appears next to one of the creatures, his does something that seems to 'activate' his blade as it begins to glow with a magical sheen before striking out at the creature near him.

He barely misses as the creature avoids the strike at the last second. Sarai backpeddles trying to put some distance between her and the creatures, dropping her rapier she pulls out her bow and takes a shot but ends up missing because she can barely hold her arms up with all the injuries. Thyra calls out a blessing of Torag as the others feel some divine energy infuse them making it so they are less likely to get hit.

Cameron deftly maneuvers around the creatures and gets next to Sarai to heal up the worst of her wounds, making it so she looks good as new. Nessa blasts the closest creature to her once again as it lets out a horrible sound in pain.

Preferring to stay in the water, the one creature that had been attack Sarai turns its attention to Hedran while the other still attacks Thyra.

Attacks:

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15

Luckily for both Thyra and Hedran the creatures can't land a single blow.
