GM BrOp |

It's under her daily abilities. Reposted here for convenience.
Thank you

Lia Tani |

Aye, did not announce here as we were kind of...on hold, anyway :D
New baby indeed and as result my online presence is...spotty. I do try and be more regular again, but I'm still on and off right now.
Fun thing is, I even noticed we are back in business, but remembered she had SR and wanted to re-read the last parts to see what was still in effect and what had failed why before.
That is, get myself up to speed again before posting.
Didn't manage within a reasonable time frame - so thanks for botting and Karina for fetching my spells.
With her SR and great Reflex, I still think I'm kind of useless in this encounter at this point, but here's hoping the others can make use of the better rolls :D

Karina Rotarescu |

Congratulations on the baby!
If the tower collapses (just a hunch), would it make enough of a sound that a certain musical paladin in the city would notice it and could make an introductory reaction post?
Not to join in the combat/ensuing chase, but just to be there.

That's not a bad idea. On the other hand, I have been thinking that you could have been drawn to Magnimar, and perhaps even the tower, by an intense emotional miasma that hangs over the city like a thick fog. This is something that fit quite well into your character idea.

Drasven Hammers |

A tower crashing would be hard not to notice whether visually or auditory I think.

Karmid Groundbreaker |

Its located in the shadow of the giant Underbridge, so visually, MOST of the city wouldn't SEE it fall. But hear? Indeed.

Lia Tani |

Ah...harsh.
I wanted to petition GM to allow me to spend a hero point to cast Force Punch, then try and punch her into a freefall.
Alas, that is Defensive Casting, trying to overcome SR and a touch attack, all of which have to succeed or it's wasted.
But then, if she still has that Spear with Reach, I also won't be save stepping away 5 feet and trying something...
But then again, the description of her shifting and escaping the debris sounds like she barely managed to roll away - not hold on to a spear during the process and remain armed during her flight.
@GM: Could you clarify
1.: Is she still armed and if so, does she still have reach now that she's an urchin?
2.: Could I spend a hero point to cast a Level 3 or 4 spell as per "special" section about hero points? If so, what penalties would a Level 4 spell incur?

GM BrOp |

1: She is not currently armed. Her alter self ability is a polymorph effect, which means that all of her equipment is basically absorbed into her. That includes any weopon she was holding.
2: I'm not sure what you are asking, Lia. Are you asking to cast a spell that you don't know that is 4th level? If so, I'd allow it if you made a DC 15 Spellcraft check and spend the Hero Point.

Lia Tani |

Hej, @1: good to know.
@2: Well, it is under the "special" section and means I can't automatically use a Hero Point for that without checking with GM, so thats what I was doing :)
But if she is not armed, then I'll go with my original plan which is only Level 3, rather than Level 4.
Thanks!

GM BrOp |

Apologies again for the posting delay.
The idea of destroyed buildings due to the clock tower's collapse and the potential for playing out the PCs assisting in the rescue of anyone trapped in the rubble makes me think of the current tragedy in Turkey/Syria, which then makes me think about if there are subjects that we as individuals don't want to involve ourselves in a game that's supposed to be fun.
You may have heard about or used these before, but I would like to introduce the concept of Lines & Veils to our game. Basically, it involves all of us deciding that a particular subject is either completely off-limits and will not appear in the game (a Line) or should be handled "off-screen" and will therefore never be a subject of active PC RP (a Veil).
For instance, one subject that is a Line for me is the killing or severe/sexual abuse of children. Does it happen in the world that we are playing in? Of course, but I as a GM will never bring it up or mention it, and I would ask you as players not to mention it as well. It is simply a topic that I find so reprehsible that I don't want it to appear in an activity that I do for fun; RL can be hard enough.
A personal Veil in my games is consensual sexual activity (either PC and PC, PC and NPC, or NPC and NPC). It's a subject that might come up in the game, but if it does, I will handle it off-screen and make oblique reference to it. I just have no desire to RP a scene with two characters "getting it on".
In order to facilitate the discussion of Lines and Veils, I am linking to a Google Sheet were we can all list our personal preferences and Lines and Veils. If you look at the Sheet, you will see that there are already a bunch of subjects there, but feel free to add more if needed. I would also ask that you read everyone else's Lines & Veils (if any) once they've had a chance to add to the page and please honor them for the sake of mutual respect. Pleae feel free to ask me any questions you have about this.

Lia Tani |

Really? That dumb queen b*tch of the cult had a Feather Fall ready to go?
I mean, in that case she probably would have just jumped on the next chance - the fact she was not simply "running" off the cliff made me think she was not prepared for that.
So sorry, it seems my punching her off the tower may have helped her flee, but I don't really see how we could have prevented her from doing just that on her next turn anyway...
should have readied to counterspell instead...
@Lines&Veils:
I have literally no taboos.
Nothing to trigger me, luckily, and no limits to what kind of content I am willing to explore. I respect others wishes, of course, but I do enjoy going to "taboo" topics and exploring them.
So I'll try and honor whatever list we end up with, but no additions from me.

GM BrOp |

Really? That dumb queen b*tch of the cult had a Feather Fall ready to go?
Yup, and now I get to play the "recurring villain " card! Woohoo! :)

Karina Rotarescu |

Recurring villains are fun!
I finally figured on a fun intro post for Karina, so she's officially on her way to the scene of the crime (whenever the GM wants her to show up).
I also have very few (if any) hard lines beyond what the GM has discussed. If something is brought up in gameplay that bothers me that I didn't expect would bother me, then I'll bring it up respectfully in discussion.

Lia Tani |

They are, kind of. But this one was very evasive the first time around, and had SR.
I seriously hope that if we do face her again, we'll have upped our networth a bit, to make things a bit more efficient. Because I doubt she'll face us in a fair fight again after fleeing the first bout.

Rojava Brishen |

I don't believe I have anything to add to the lines/veils list but I'll give it some thought.

Drasven Hammers |

dispel magic on her feather fall?
She's gonna get away.
I only mostly got heals only left.

Karmid Groundbreaker |

I don't believe I have anything to add to the lines/veils list but I'll give it some thought.
What she said.

Lia Tani |

Aye, not Dispel - we would have needed to counterspell it in the first place, then she would have gone 'splat'. We are well above 100 feet AND she took another 20 or so force damage from my punch. She should not have survived that fall if not for the feather fall.
I think even if I had managed to confirm the threat it would have been enough to down here. Unlucky :P

Drasven Hammers |

As for lines and taboos.
I haven't exactly had mine tested. If there's any I'll be sure to sound out if it's making me uncomfortable.
Unless it's underage seduction realm. Straight No.
As I actually work with children so Anything sexualizing them is No. No and NO.

Karina Rotarescu |

Drasven took two hits for 19 damage. Negating one will take that down to 9.
Karmid took one hit for 8 damage. Since he got this by going back inside, an assist probably won't help (though he was also the most injured going into the fight).
Lia took two hits for 17 damage and already declared that she would use one assist to reduce that to 7 damage.
Ro took one hit for 12 damage.
So that's a total of 6 hits and 3 assists (from Karina, Karmid, and Ro), one of which has already been claimed.
Logistically, it makes sense to me for one of the assists to each go to Drasven, Lia, and Ro. Ro can't help herself, so her aid probably went to either Drasven or Lia, probably Lia. Karina and Karmid, rushing in at the end, probably assist Drasven and Ro respectively.

Rojava Brishen |

If I recall correctly, we're limited to receiving one assist total?
Ro took 12 points, which isn't too harsh. She can also self-CLW if it was really needed, and can also fight ranged. If need be so can go without and assists. For safety's sake in case we find ourselves in combat again, I'd like Karmid to be in as good of shape as is possible.
I'd written Lia as receiving Ro aid attempt, but maybe we could retcon that so Karina aids Lia, and Ro drags Karmid's sorry butt out of the tower?

Karina Rotarescu |

GM said to claim and write how you got help. I was just summarizing to help people grasp the mechanics of the situation and help them translate into action. So whoever is claiming should write it as such.
If we engage in a chase through Magnimar, things could get hairy, but you have two fresh PCs with all their resources ready to go.

Karmid Groundbreaker |

Even taking the damage I did, I'm still pretty well off currently. Don't worry about me.

Drasven Hammers |

I'll Spam Heals if needed.

Rojava Brishen |

I've been getting absolutely crushed at work for the past couple of weeks. I don't expect things will change much for a couple more weeks either. I'm going to just leave my tower post as is, without any further tower posts. I just don't have the time to read back through the existing posts and figure out something to add.

Karina Rotarescu |

Then for the sake of expediency, I recommend the above plan that I proposed for dealing with damage negation. In that case:
Results of Tower Damage
Drasven -8
Izzy -0
Karina -0
Karmid -8
Lia -7
Ro -0
Let's just stick with that and keep moving forward.

Lia Tani |

Sounds good to me. (and I had already deducted the damage when I posted in gameplay).
@Drasven: I was deliberating spending that Hero Point :)
While "Debris falls and hits a building" sounds terrible, we're not exactly in a good neighbourhood. Chances are the buildings close to the tower belonged to Xaneshas followers, or some syndicate working with her.
So you may just have saved the meth house of a group of gangers with your hero point :)
But if you had not spent it, it would have been an orphanage operating as front for something.

Karmid Groundbreaker |

Great! For what's its worth I updated my HPs for the new damage.

Drasven Hammers |

same

Drasven Hammers |

We're all checking in.

Rojava Brishen |

Hi everyone, I ran across BrOp on Discord and asked him about the game. He's no longer doing anything on the Paizo boards since he can't make the time commitment.
What do y'all want to do now?

Karina Rotarescu |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I appreciated your invite to me, but it was 10 months ago now and I have made two in-character posts as this character--3 months ago. I have no real skin in the game.
I recently started running Karmid and Lia through their Iron Gods campaign as they transitioned from Book 2 to Book 3. So if you all are interested, I could probably do the same thing here.

Issengrim |

With a single post and no interaction at all, I'm not invested in the campaign. IF you guys keep the game going AND you feel there is value in having my archer in the mix and/or think having the extra player would be good for the dynamic, I'm happy to jump in and play... but I'm just as content to let this game go. Being a bench-warmer is a 'meh' experience at best. That's not a criticism of you guys or even BrOP... these things just happen.
Anyhow, I'll keep an eye on the thread for awhile and see how things shake out.

Karmid Groundbreaker |

This was my first successful PbP game and it has continued in one way or another in some form or fashion for years. I'm up for letting Karina take over now that BrOp has finally given up and given in.
Trust me, if you can continue the game, I will always do my best to make sure everyone is enjoying it. I wanna see Karmid hit Level 18 at least too!

GM Polyfrequencies |

I want to hear from the others, too, before I commit, but that's encouraging so far.
One thing that would help me get up to speed is to know what plot threads your characters are currently invested in/curious about. In particular, is there anything--especially from your time in Magnimar--that feels unresolved? Knowing that will help me focus my search once I acquire the book. (Reading over 100 pages of gameplay here and over 400 pages of adventure path is a tall order that I don't have the complete time for.)
Also, on the plus side, it looks like this is the only table of the original three spawned in the recruitment thread almost eight years ago that has persisted, even if y'all have had three different GMs just at this table.
Overall, this will be my third campaign with Karmid, my second with Lia, and my fourth with Ro. I have yet to actually play with Drasven or Izzy.
I like to think of myself as a very roleplay-forward GM with a heavy investment in Golarion's lore. You can find the other three campaigns I'm currently running on the Paizo boards here, here, and here. I have a couple narrative samples here, here, here, and here. Some combat samples can be found here, here, and here.
I try to move at a decent clip overall. With the modules I started about a year ago, the tables started at level 1 and are now level 3 and about a third of the way through their second module. It's hard to plan for time and life, but I would try to aim to do a book about every year.

Drasven Hammers |

I for one am Thankful that you're stepping up to take us. Yes this is likely the first time I'm playing with you and I hope not to disappoint.
Drasven is very interested in the reach of the cult and how far their reach extends. He is also now very interested in how city operates in general as compared to a small town.

Rojava Brishen |

I'm absolutely in! Thanks Poly!
This is my first game here ever and I'm committed to keeping it going, hell or high water.

Karmid Groundbreaker |

The cult has been stopped for now, but the main threat/thread left was the escaped Lamia. We needed her to find out why she used them as pawns and why they kept using the Sihidrons carved into their victims. What her big game is, and if there is some sort of larger picture we cannot see yet. This all leads back to what’s his name…the ghoul lord we killed and his haunted house Lia managed to actually destroy!

GM Polyfrequencies |

High water can happen!
I believe that the ghoul lord (a ghast, actually) was one Aldern Foxglove!
So the party is left relatively empty-handed following the escape of Xanesha the lamia and is looking for clues about her involvement with the now-defeated Skinsaw Cult and their use of the sihedron rune.
Anything else to focus on, or should we pick up with the imminent collapse of the Shadow Clock and allow things to develop naturally until I can organically feed you enough clues to continue the tale?

Rojava Brishen |

I think that covers the main plot points fairly well. We should probably loot the clocktower ruins. We're so g$!&$+n poor that maybe we could get the full loot haul, or if there's nothing much there get to freely adjust to something resembling WBL?
I wouldn't describe myself as a strong swimmer, but must still agree that high water is the better option.
