DM Carbide |
Commas are important! There's a difference between "slash away Eva!" and "slash away, Eva!"
The monk manages to cut the webbing in the area in front of her into shreds, then advance into the cleared area.
Kali Starr |
When you get a chance, Carbide, could you give a brief explanation of the current situation? That is, who's up/delaying and which squares of the webbing is gone?
DM Carbide |
I'll get to that after my afternoon meeting. Sorry about the delays; work is being extreme, and I'm fighting off a cold.
DM Carbide |
Round 1 (ongoing):
Initiative order
Kragnor-move and delay
Eva-move and delay
Kali-delay
Melody-acted
Senja-delay
Asvald-delay
Spider-acted
After the spider acted, the order shifted to something like this:
Melody-acted
Spider-acted
Kragnor-broke loose
Eva-started to cut webs; couldn't flurry because she'd moved already
Asvald-cast spark
Kali-delaying
Senja-delaying
As far as you can tell with the mists in the way, the room is still filled with webs except for the two squares in front of the door. Eva has damaged one square of webs, and another is smoldering from Asvald's spell. Kali and Senja still have yet to act this round.
Senja Kala |
Unable to make out the spider through the webs, Senja reaches out and taps Eva with a strangely long, slender finger, leaving a small spot of shadow on the woman's shoulder for a moment.
Cast guidance on Eva.
Kali Starr |
With thoughts of her near demise a few minutes ago still weighing on her mind, Kali opts to let the tougher folks hack through more webs before joining them near the front.
Still delaying
DM Carbide |
Round 2:
Melody-
Spider-
Kragnor-
Eva-
Asvald-
Kali-delaying
Senja-
Kali is alert and ready to act at a moment's notice.
Melody is back up!
Melody Flaxseed |
Melody taps Asvald, "Go find that thing and kill it. Shelyn's luck is on your side."
Bit o' luck: for 1 round, roll all d20s twice and take the better roll.
DM Carbide |
The small "d" on the map denotes a square of damaged webbing; when it's gone I'll put a "c" there for "cleared."
Round 2:
Melody-acted
Spider-acted
Kragnor-
Eva-
Asvald-
Kali-delaying
Senja-
Melody gives Asvald some special guidance, then another clot of webbing flies down out of the mists and hits Eva solidly, covering her in sticky strands.
Kragnor Stonebreaker |
Kragnor drops his hammer in favor of his waraxe, then slashes at the webbing in front of him. To the east.
Damage!: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 = 10
Eva Baldursdóttir |
Eva hacks at the webs entangling her. The damage last turn would've been 1 higher as a single attack.
Flurry: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Flurry: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
If she finishes off her own web /and/ the damaged web this turn, she'll step forward into the cleared square.
Kragnor Stonebreaker |
Kragnor would step forward as well, if he destroys the web.
DM Carbide |
Eva, given that you're entangled by the web, roll a sunder attempt to affect it, with a -2 penalty for being entangled.
DM Carbide |
Oof. Did that include the -2 for being entangled?
Asvald Bjornson |
Emboldened by his fate-altering blessing, Asvald moves into the web-choked room with his sword at the ready.
Kali Starr |
"Maybe we should back out of here and see if the spider follows us. If it doesn't, we can come back later with a bunch of alchemist fire and set the room ablaze." Kali suggests as the room seems to be getting the best of the group at the moment.
DM Carbide |
Round 2 (ongoing):
Melody-acted
Spider-acted
Kragnor-acted
Eva-acted
Asvald-
Kali-delaying
Senja-
Eva is unable to get a decent purchase to strike at the webbing pinioning her. Kragnor shreds some web in front of him and advances onto the still-sticky bits. Asvald follows and if he wants can try to clear more web.
Kali Starr |
If Kali moves behind Asvald, is there room to hack at the web in the square north of him or is that too hard of a corner?
DM Carbide |
You don't need to roll to hit the unattended webs, just the stuff that's entangling someone.
DM Carbide |
Kali, I think you can cut at it, but since it's got cover against you you'll need to roll a sunder attempt on it vs. CMD 10.
Kali Starr |
Kali moves forwards and tries to cut some of the webbing north of Asvald. Sadly, she just can't get a good hack in without hitting the wall first.
Sunder?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
DM Carbide |
Sorry; out of town this weekend. I also need damage from Asvald, since he doesn't have to maneuver around anything to clear web.
DM Carbide |
Asvald is able to clear the webbing from the area near the door. He has the option to advance into the cleared square.
Asvald sword damage to web: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
DM Carbide |
Round 3:
Melody-
Spider-
Kragnor-
Eva-
Asvald-
Kali-
Senja-delaying
Senja is keeping his eyes open, and preparing to act as needed. Melody is up!
DM Carbide |
Round 3 (ongoing):
Melody-acted
Spider-acted
Kragnor-
Eva-
Asvald-
Kali-
Senja-delaying
Another glob of webbing falls out of the mists and hits Asvald, wrapping him securely. Everyone but Melody can act!
Eva Baldursdóttir |
Eva continues to hack at webs, clearing the way forward inch by pain-staking inch.
Sunder Flurry (entangled): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 2 = 2
Sunder Flurry (entangled): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 2 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
DM Carbide |
Round 3 (ongoing):
Melody-acted
Spider-acted
Kragnor-
Eva-acted
Asvald-
Kali-
Senja-delaying
Eva is able to cut away some of the webs that have her entangled.
Asvald Bjornson |
Asvald hacks at the sticky webbing binding him.
Chop: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Kragnor Stonebreaker |
Kragnor chops at the nearest webs, then steps forward.
Power Chop!: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 3 = 9
DM Carbide |
Asvald and Kragnor, you didn't quite get all the web you were cutting at. Asvald is still entangled, and if Kragnor steps forward the remaining web will entangle him as well.
Kragnor Stonebreaker |
Yep, I forgot to add, "if he cuts through them, he'll step forward.
DM Carbide |
If you chop at the web in front of Eva you'll clear it.
DM Carbide |
Will you advance into the cleared area, then?
DM Carbide |
Round 3 (ongoing):
Spider-acted
Kragnor-acted
Eva-acted
Asvald-acted
Kali-
Senja-delaying
Melody-
Moving Melody to the end of the round. Kali, Senja, and Melody to go!
Kali Starr |
"That looks uncomfortable.." Kali notes as she tries to help Eva free herself from the webs.
Sunder webs: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
DM Carbide |
Kali slashes at the webs pinning Eva, but doesn't quite get them removed. Senja and Melody peer into the mist, ready to loose stone and hex at any arachnid that appears. Unfortunately....
Round 4:
Spider-acted
Kragnor-
Eva-
Asvald-
Kali-
Senja-delaying
Melody-delaying
Asvald, you are focused on freeing yourself. Just a few more strands, and you'll be fine. Kali, out of the corner of your eye you spot movement above you somewhere. You turn in time to see a moon spider drop on a line and bite Asvald! Asvald, take 7 HP and give me a DC 15 Fort save or take 1 point of STR damage.
Because of the obscuring mist, the only ones who can see the spider are Kali and Asvald. Party up!
Kali check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Asvald check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Bite attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Bite attack confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
STR damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Kali Starr |
Assuming the spider is hanging from the ceiling above Asvald, does that mean Kali can attack it from her current square?
DM Carbide |
Yes, albeit at the usual -1 on attack rolls for striking from below. From outside the door you're also at -2 to hit due to cover, although you can take a 5' step into the room to negate that penalty.
