I want to make sure that I am reading the Outpose sign up correctly. There do not seem to be as many games being hosted on the Paizo forums, correct?

Did you maybe miss the FCFS tab on the spreadsheet? FCFS means First Come, First Served.

By my count for PF2 we have 4 FCFS bounties, 17 FCFS scenarios plus the special. We have two runs of the Dark Archives using other recruitment methods.

Updated live. In Paizo you can be ninjaed, as you are posting a new post can sneak up on you. Discord is a live-chat room, so you can't be ninjaed.

But if discord is your only option to play the game, it will be worth trying out at least once. Don't overload yourself on discord games if it is your first time using discord, limit yourself to less Discord games than you would Paizo games. If the max load for all of your games is say 5, then for discord, it should be 1 or 2, while your other 3 or 4 would be on Paizo or whatever you use.

The hard cutoff is indeed 6 weeks. We had this same cutoff last year and were able to make it with all tables fine. It is definitely a tight constraint but doable.

Also: I've seen a LOT of bounties, but they seem kind of short and the awards don't seem all that great. Is there a specific appeal to these that I am missing? Thanks for any leads and/or input!

The awards are proportional with the amount of time it takes. A full scenario would take 4 hours and, with full rewards, give 14 gp, or 3.5 gp/hour, plus Earn Income (0.1 gp on a success). A Bounty gives 4.0 gp, or 4.0 gp/hour, with no Earn Income.

Part of the appeal is that they're short. PbP games take a very long time to run. A full scenario would take 4 hours to run face to face, but 6-8 weeks to run on PbP.

Part of the appeal is a mystery to me. lol I play them with my kids, who have difficulty sitting through a full scenario. I played quite a few during pandemic, when I had an hour to hop onto VTT but not 4 hours. I'll play or GM them at conventions if my game ends early and we have an extra hour. But I'll let people who like them more than I do explain the rest.

They are a great way to try out PbP or PbD because they are short.

They are long enough that you can learn the changes to play and become familiar with them. It also isn’t a huge problem if the GM runs a little faster or slower than you feel comfortable with.

They are short enough that if the GM’s style isn’t a good fit for you, it doesn’t feel like you are trapped in a game forever. Since they are repeatable you can compare how different GMs present the same adventure which hopefully will give you ideas if you decide to GM at some point.

They're a good way to try out character builds, too. Once you hit second level you're locked in but before that you can rebuild freely so you can try several paths or feats to figure out the one you like the best before no takesies backsies kicks in.

Slight difference, but once you play at 2nd level your locked in. You could play till character reaches 2nd level, not touch the character and DM credit your way to 3rd level or higher.

I know many GMs are busy with Outpost, but if anyone would be kind enough to step in to get us over the last hump, we'd be very appreciative. Here's the Gameplay thread.
