After the ambush we wont be setting a new record. Nyctessa may be out of ways to fight the next bat too. Maybe its Uliah who will get a chance to show these demon bats true holy power
BR redeux |
Ouch. Unfortunately Demonic Horde is undefeated unless all the demons are defeated. Arboreal blight is a bit more forgiving in that instance.
I went ahead and did a mid-turn update with the locations/shuffling because I'm going to be out all day tomorrow and possibly longer. I'll make an update as soon as able, just got some RL stuff.
Ramexes 9251-4 |
Time to regroup we know that demonic horde is in there but we have time no need to rush
BR redeux |
Here's a quick overview of the steps
1. Encounter - Any Before you encounter actions (these are pretty rare)
2. Evade - you may use cards or powers to evade.
3. Before You Act - In this case, BYA Wis/Perception 7 or can't be evaded plus increased difficulty
4. Attempt the Check
5. Next check, if needed (sequential checks to defeat)
6. After you Act - any "AYA" checks, text, or damage.
7. Resolve the encounter, such as banishing the card or shuffling it back in if undefeated.
So if it is a "BYA" (before you act) then you can still evade before that takes effect. You wouldn't want to do that with a demonic horde unless someone else already failed their check. If the monster just says "so and so may not be evaded" then that would be a persistent effect that would prevent you from evading during the evasion step.
EmpTyger |
I was just confused by why there’s even a “can’t be evaded” restriction added in Step 3, if evasion happens in Step 2.
(Although, I am now remembering a couple S&S cards that let you evade later, like if you would fail the check to defeat.)
I guess that’s more of a card design question than a rules question though.
BR redeux |
Oh, right. Under evasion step (MM page 9):
"If any powers on the card
you’re encountering relate to evading the card, they take effect at
this time."
So in this case the BYA would be needed before evasion.

Hey guys, so a few housekeeping rules here:
1. First, keep up the great work! Almost there!
2. Outpost is set to end April 30th though I intend to keep running this campaign for as long as there is interest. If you have other tables you're playing at--check with your GM/BR to see if they are continuing. Some are, some aren't. For this table, there will be absolutely no hard feelings if you are unable to continue for one reason or another (not having fun, life is particularly hectic at the moment, dog ate your cards, etc). Just let me know either here or privately. my email is am.fear.liath.mor1@gmail.com, can also send me a message on hangouts to the same email.
3. If you do plan to continue, I ask that we all be able and willing to post within 24 hours of it being your turn or action needed from you. I know a few of you have had things come up which is fine occasionally, but if it is a chronic issue then we'll have to remove you temporarily or permanently. That's not something I necessarily want to do, but for those who are committed to the game then that's the course of action we'll need to take. I'll let you know privately if this becomes an issue and give a deadline for changes in behavior. Players would be welcome back when they are able as long as there is a slot open at the table. If it is an extended break you may need to use a pre-generated character upon your return.
4. Lastly, When we first started this we discussed doing a google hangouts for the table in order to ask questions to me or other players ("hey, Uliah, can I use your blessing for this weapon upgrade?", or to just let the group know you ended your turn and it is now so-and-so's turn.
Is there still interest in participating in such a hangouts chat? If some people do not want to participate then that is OK. In such a case, I can create the google hangouts channel for those interested, and then any strategy discussion we would keep posted in the discussion thread here for everyone to see.
If you have questions, again, feel free to post here or email/message me privately. Thanks!

I am all for keeping with the group and the hangout as well. PbP PACG helps be put my collection to use in the same way RPG PbP does. I don't have a local group. Nothing crazy schedule wise should happen to January when I move to Japan.
Athnul #123480-1003 |
Count me in! But I'm going to have some hard weeks until end of June at work. I'll try to post within the 24h frame.
Regarding hangouts: is there an existing group? I just opened it the first time on my mobile :D
And I saw that somebody's using a different deck handler, version 3 or something. If this is a new version, shall we update?
BR redeux |
Okay, Here's the link to the Google Hangouts chat for those interested. You should just be able to join by clicking the link. I'll disable link joining once we get everyone who is interested into it. After that just send a hangout message to me at am.fear.liath.mor1@gmail.com and i can get anyone else added in if they changed their mind later. I'm not going to make this required, so if you don't want to try it or if you try it and don't like it then no problem. It's just a useful resource to help ask questions and what not.
@Athnul - Good question on Version 3. It's mostly the same, there is a "sideboard area" for some cards (I've been using it for banished cards I plan to add back to my deck because they're basic). Outside of that, it's pretty much the same. Let's hold off on transfering over to the version 3 of the spreadsheet. I recently started Adventure deck 3 of this campaign for one of my characters and I am working on implementing "Mythic Support." Mythic cards we haven't gotten to quite yet, but they basically add a static boost to your skills based on your mythic charges (which you gain/spend as the scenario goes on). Here's an example of my character template for my Bug-loving goblin. You'll notice her template reads"Mystic Charges: 3" and then she has two skills that start out as +3 (wisdom and charisma).
Hand: Burning Snot, Flaming Heavy Pick+1, Monkey, BotGobs 2, Immolate,
Deck: 12 Discard: 0 Buried: 0, Displayed:
Notes:
Bugform Active: Y, Mythic Charges: 3, Shirt Reroll Available: Y, Sideboard cards:
DEXTERITY d8 [X]+1[X]+2 []+3 []+4
Melee: Dexterity +1
CONSTITUTION d6 []+1 []+2
INTELLIGENCE d6 []+1 []+2
WISDOM d8 +3 [X]+4 []+5 []+6 []+7
Divine: Wisdom +2
CHARISMA d6 +3 []+4 []+5
Survival: Charisma +3
Favored Card: Spell
Hand Size 4 [X]5
Light Armors, Weapons
Powers:
When you encounter a card, you may display a boon that has the Divine trait( [] and you may recharge a card displayed by this power to evade your encounter). While displayed, your Constitution and Dexterity dice are d12, and you may play only boons that have the Goblin, Melee, Poison, or Vermin ( [X] or Divine) trait; add the Vermin trait to your checks. At the end of any encounter, you may recharge all displayed by this power.
When you attempt a check that invokes the Poison, Swarm, or Vermin trait, add 1d6 ( [] and before the roll, you may draw a card).
Buggy wuggy, creepy crawler,
Cutey sluggy bites a brawler.
Skitter, jitter, hurry scurry,
In a fit of buggy fury.
Shower folk in worms exotic
In a joke so arthropodic.
Ha! The bigguns leapin' so
When 'ere comes a Reepazo!"
-Reepazo's song
I want to clean up my implementation of this before getting it rolled out for everyone, since this was mostly just a quick brain-dump during my busy season. Once I get that done then we can transfer everyone over so it's nice and easy once we get the mythic paths unlocked (and I'll go over what those do in much more detail when we unlock them)
Ramexes 9251-4 |
Ramexes intends to see this thing through to the end
Hangouts ok (I usually remember to turn notifications back on in the mornings)

Finals and moving has me tight on time so not flavor on this post unfortunately. Wanted to get it posted so we could continue forward.

Note that this is the top blessing during Amaryllis's turn:
Blessing of Terendelev
Blessing P
Traits
Divine
Terendelev
Dragon
Check
None
Powers
To acquire this card, summon and defeat this adventure's servitor demon.
Discard this card to explore your location. Add 1 die to your checks against banes that have the Demon trait during this exploration.
Bury this card to allow a character to shuffle 1d4+1 random cards from her discard pile into her deck.
So if anyone has a Blessing of the Gods to spare, get your healing on!

Just realized that the Crow that I had in my deck comes from the ranger deck. I swapped it back the the Researcher that it was before the deck upgrade. Is it ok to choose another card instead of the Crow after this game?
BR redeux |
This was our 4th scenario during Outpost, so you get to roll for more boons! Go ahead and roll a 1d20. On a "1" or a "20" then you win! If you win, pick PFS (1d4) or SFS (1d2). I wrote a bit more info in this comment earlier
redeux: 1d20 ⇒ 14 no luck
Nyctessa of Geb |
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Similarly I do not have an armor slot and do not want to replace my weapon.

Drew the Snake instead of the Crow.
Deck upgrades after the current game:
Quarterstaff (Weapon B)
Teamster (Ally B)

OK may i suggest we try and go after the sanctum. I don't think we have many corrupted items available to temp close it but I am hoping Uliahs wisdom is good enough to close his location and i have a couple of weapons i dont mind banishing to close mine

Well, keep in mind the scenario power we're going to be fighting villains now, so you don't need to worry about temp closes. The scenario rules will put the villain back into your location deck if you fail to defeat the villain. If you defeat the villain then the location will be closed.
After building the location decks, shuffle the villains Sophini,
Hosilla, and Jeslyn facedown into a villain pile.
When you would encounter a henchman from a location deck
and the number of open locations is equal to or less than the
number of cards in the villain pile, instead encounter the top
card of the villain pile. If you do not defeat the villain, put it on
the bottom of the villain pile and shuffle the henchman (proxy) into
your location deck. If the villain is defeated and would escape,
put it on the bottom of the villain pile instead and close your
location. If the villain is defeated and cannot escape, banish it.
To win the scenario, close all of the locations.

Thanks!
Amaryllis would be interested in the Sacred Prism, although I'll defer if someone else wants it more. And same thing if anyone now wants the Scale of Disguise.
(They're just so much better than the Caltrops and/or Bracers of Protection I'd be replacing.)
Also, how do mythic paths work in PACG Guild?
EmpTyger |
Thanks again Redeux!
I'm leaning toward Mythic Marshal for Amaryllis also, although not 100% decided yet. She could arguably go Hierophant or Archmage instead.
Right now I'm leaning against Archmage (since so far I've been lacking an attack spell in hand more often than I've had an attack spell but a monster is immune to it).
I'd probably weigh taking Hierophant lower if someone else (Uliah?) takes it. Although it wouldn't offer me any help against those wretched Carrion Golems.
Uliah, Warpriest |
I'm similarly torn between Hierophant and Marshal. I suppose we do already have a lot of Marshals and it's always nice to have a Hierophant for emergency revives (eventually, at least!), but the complete lack of attack spells in the Warpriest class deck means that my excellent Divine skill would be wasted a lot of the time, which kind of forces me to either take Champion, Guardian or Marshal.
What do you guys think?
EmpTyger |
Yeah, then it doesn't make sense for Uliah to take Hierophant over a STR-buffing path.
I suppose one thought is that we could have a 3 Marshal-party, which would let us all be more spendthrift with the charges by bunching up and passing the charges back and forth. Though we'd have fewer of the powerful abilities to use the charges on.
Or for diversity, Amaryllis could take Hierophant (regardless of whether Uliah takes Marshal or Guardian or Champion). In truth, Amaryllis doesn't want to be making STR or INT or WIS checks, as she has no skills and only a d6/d4/d4. So she'd give up relatively little by forgoing Marshal, and would get a little extra healing.
However, it does mean that she could have trouble with magic-resistant enemies. Especially since Amaryllis unfortunately never gets the option of taking a weapon, even despite having a decent DEX score.
(For the record, my first PACG character ever, Enora, was eaten by a Carrion Golem, which is why I'm being a little hung up on that possibility.)
I suppose I could go either way? Though I'm probably just overthinking at this point. Anyone have strong feelings one way or the other?
(And I suppose there's a chance we get a 6th party member, who could be a Hierophant or a 4th Marshal!)
Uliah, Warpriest |
I think the most sensitive thing to do is to grab Marshal since STR is my attack stat and CHA is a D10 and I also have a great Diplomacy skill.
I can totally relate to the carrion golem fear. My home-campaign Seoni died to one as well. Considering this, wouldn't it make more sense to choose Archmage? If I'm not mistaken, it would allow you to ignore their immunity to the attack trait.
EmpTyger |
Since everyone else has picked, I don’t want to delay things, so I’m going to stick with my first instinct, Mythic Marshal. Which also feels most in-character for Amaryllis. (Though perhaps *most* in-character for her would be to roll 1d3!)
Uliah:
I did consider Archmage, but rolling d20 for STR Combat seemed like it would be more often useful for dealing with magic-immune enemies, since it also “works” when I don’t have an attack spell in hand. (That’s been the biggest thing about playing Amaryllis that I’ve had to adjust to, not having the traditional sorcerer “transform a card into an attack spell” power.)
BR redeux |
Alright, I'll try to get new deck trackers prepared and sent out within next day or so. They'll be mostly the same, but a newer version I updated to include your mythic path text and also some text on your static bonus. New version is updated so it auto-updates the stat
I'll also work to get your chronicle sheets finalized and sent out
Akaitora |
Thanks a lot for offering. Uliah's item slots are super tight, but I am thinking of taking Find Traps with my Spell Upgrade for this last mission, so I guess my Mattock is no longer as useful. If you feel like you don't need it anymore, I could take the Scale of Disguise off of your hands.
