I might be passing on the regular upgrade too. Spell 4 (Poison Blast) could be a damage upgrade, but at the risk of ineffectiveness vs undead/demon. So I'll defer to everyone else. And I don't want to give up my Blessing of the Gods, nor the recharge potential of the Blessings of the Iomedae. Though I might try a Blessing of Nocticula after I take a card feat.

As for next scenario: Amaryllis can't take Weapon loots and hates INT/Knowledge checks. So weak preference for Talisman of True Faith?
Otherwise, Shamira would seem to be the easiest villain for us?

(Also, the scenario titles are hilarious this adventure!)

That's a dex-based weapon, so it wouldn't make sense for Uliah to grab it, despite it being a free Cure on a fail.

For Uliah's deck upgrade, I would like to take the Blessing 3, or if someone else wants to take that, the Spell 4.

During this mission, Uliah banished Detect Evil, so I will be filling that hole with Spell 2: Weapon of Awe.

For the next scenario, knowing what I know about WotR Adv 5, Fasciculus Labyrinthum seems to me to be the best choice as there are many, many effects that move you to locations that are very hard or costly to get out of, so my vote is to go chasing Hepzamirah again.

Random Spell: 1d46 ⇒ 40 Restorative Touch, not taking.

No upgrades are huge for me. Spell 4 would give Acid Rain but combat hasn't been something I am worried about for my spells thus far. I would defer if someone else wants it.

Shamira would be easy to defeat and give us plenty of breathing room to dig for upgrades but the other two loot rewards are better.

Blessing of Isis I'll take that for my blessing of Pharasma / BotG (dont know wjether its worth keeping BotG to pass on to Amaryllis possibly)

Blessing 3 would be blessing of Milani as Gorum looks a win more at the moment whereas Milani seems to help our weakest two checks (or at least Ramexes two weakest checks)

Spell 4 would be upgrade cure for major cure

Armour 2 would fire resistance hide but would prefer one of the first two

As for villain preferring the daughter of Baphomet as gives good ish loot and I dislike discarding cards when playing blessings

(Not that I expect anyone to want it, but I don't think there's a Weapon 2 upgrade available, since it was banished to close the Sanctum.)

I'm interested in Item 4, Item 3, or Armor 4. Slight preference for an item, but don't care whether Item 3 or Item 4. If those 3 upgrades are everyone else's top picks, I could settle for the Spell 4.
If I take the armor upgrade, I'll take the Armor card feat; otherwise I'll take an Item card feat.

I'm also going to redeem my Society Initiate reward for a bonus card feat, to get an extra basic blessing. (Solving my indecision from before. Try to do it all!)

I think I'm only interested in the Spell 4 for this upgrade selection, but I understand if someone else needs it (it's not a huge priority for me), so I can also just not take an upgrade.

For my card feat, I'm going take a Blessing Feat. I think I will be adding Blessing of Nethys to my deck to fill the hole, but I need to check what Blessing 2's are in the Warpriest deck when I get home. I might end up grabbing a Blessing of the Everlight instead.

EDIT: I just realized that Codex of Conversations (Item 4) is a thing, and it looks amazing, so that would probably be my second choice if someone needs to Spell 4.

Agent Eclipse:
I messed up. As pointed out by Redeux, Nyctessa didn’t need to make Derakni Combat checks, just WIS checks. (And those aren’t really even necessary right now, because Mist Horn prevents the consequences for failing.)
But, Nyctessa does need to summon a Vulture Demon for Uliah’s turn.
Hopefully this isn’t too hard to straighten out?

Uliah will be putting his skill feat towards Wisdom (+4).

Uliah would benefit the most from grabbing the Item 5 as his deck reward, to replace his Wand of Flying with Belt of Physical Might (+2 to all physical stats on reveal), but I imagine we will all want this upgrade, and others might have even better options with their Item 5s, so I'm willing to give this one up.

As a second option, I can grab the Weapon 4 to replace my Dragonsbane Greatsword +2 with a Golemsbane Hammer +2. It is a slightly worse weapon, but it is more flexible and might even help with the upcoming scenario.


I’m actually not really interested in any upgrades. Looking for Spell 5 and Ally 5.
No interest in the new loot either (until it’s redeemed).

The Item 5 is a recharge to examine Top 3 cards of a location or Top 1 card of 3 locations. It's nice but not a necessity aside from seeing Nyctessa strumming a shamisen.

Aside from that I would take the Armor 5 for a really minor upgrade if no one else needs it.

Guess for my skill I will punch my Wisdom up again.

There are 28 boons, of which we need to fail checks on 8:
Weapons: 4
Spells: 6
Armors: 4
Items: 5
Allies: 2
Blessings: 7 (with more available when we fight the villain)

This might be harder than it seems. Uliah and Ramexes in particular may not be able to intentionally fail certain weapon, ally, or blessing acquire checks, since they have such high STR/Melee, CHA/Diplomacy, and Divine.
(I'm not suggesting a strategy, though. Just putting it out there to keep in mind.)

It's actually a bit more complex then that.

You can choose to not attempt a check. But that doesn't mean you "failed" the check. This scenario specifically wants you to fail a check to acquire, so you will need to actually attempt the check and fail. What you can do is pick a skill you're not good at. For instance if It's a Dex/Ranged Weapon, and you don't have Ranged, you can pick Ranged and just roll the 1d4 (default die for any skill you lack).

Your power feat examines during the "Resolve the Encounter" step of an encounter. For a Villain there are additional steps Before and After the encounter, but otherwise the Encounter is the same. So the blessing/villain shuffle occurs after you resolve the encounter and you examine two cards that quickly get banished.

Essentially:
Temp closes from encountering villain
fight the villain
it's defeated, you resolve the encounter by getting to use your examine feat.
If you defeat the villain, close the location (so normally you get the scenario examine here as well and can pull out boons). In this specific case, family tomb already pulls out all the boons and banes and puts them back into the closed location deck.
Villain escapes and blessings/villain get shuffled into all locations.

As an additional note: The scenario rules say "treat all locations as open" but I do not read this as actually re-opening the locations. So i believe blessings/villain can get shuffled into a closed location, but it still is technically closed. This means I don't think you need to re-close a location just because a card got shuffled in there.


For reference, here's what's at the Family Tomb:

  • Urannag (Combat 30 or Disable 17. No attack spells, counts as barrier, stays on top if undefeated)
  • Umbral Dragon (Combat 24 and Combat 24. No cold, precheck for attack spells, "Before you act, each character at a random occupied location must succeed at a Constitution or Fortitude 11 check or bury her role card", someone summons a copy if undefeated)
  • Spell 5 (Arcane/Divine)

Don't really care who gets the cohort. If no one feels strongly about, I could take because I have the largest hand size.

I'm trying to figure out how I can support Nyctessa, but displayed cards are confusing me. Not sure if Redeux will get to these rules questions before Agent Eclipse goes- and it might all be moot anyhow.

Banner of Valor:
Display this card next to a location. While displayed, add 1d8 to checks against banes that have the Demon trait by characters at that location. On closing that location, add this card to your hand.

Cape of Wasps:
Display this card. While displayed, reduce Combat damage dealt to you by 1d4; add 1d6 and the Poison trait to combat checks by characters at your location.

    1) Amaryllis displays Banner of Valor at the start of Nyctessa's turn. Nyctessa encounters Belseferek.
  • Does Nyctessa get +1d8 from the Banner of Valor automatically?
  • Can Nyctessa activate the Banner of Valor, since it's displayed next to her location? (I'm wondering if I've been using the Banner of Valor wrong all this time- if the character who closes the location is the "you" in the "On closing that location, add this card to your hand" instruction.)
  • Can the Banner of Valor not be used, since Amaryllis would have to activate it, and Belseferek forbids that?

    2) Amaryllis displays Cape of Wasps next to herself at the start of Nyctessa's turn. Nyctessa encounters Belseferek and mythically removes the villain's immunities.

  • Does Nyctessa get +1d6 from the Cape of Wasps automatically?
  • Can Cape of Wasps not be used, since Amaryllis would have to activate it, and Belseferek forbids that on Nyctessa's encounter?

    3) Amaryllis displays Cape of Wasps next to herself at the start of Nyctessa's turn. Nyctessa encounters Belseferek but loses. On Amaryllis's turn, she herself tries to encounter Belseferek.

  • Does Amaryllis's check automatically fail, since the Cape of Wasps automatically adds the Poison trait?
  • Is the Cape of Wasps unable to be used, since Belseferek is immune to Poison?
  • Can Amaryllis use the Cape of Wasps to add +1d6, but the Poison trait part isn't added since Belseferek is immune?
  • Can Amaryllis use the Cape of Wasps to add +1d6 and Poison, but the Poison trait is ignored since Belseferek is immune?

    4) Amaryllis displays Cape of Wasps next to herself at the start of Nyctessa's turn. Nyctessa encounters Belseferek but loses. At the start of Amaryllis's turn, she herself displays Wall of Fire. Then Amaryllis tries to encounter Belseferek.

  • Can Amaryllis activate the Wall of Fire as her 1 spell/check, and thus prevent the Cape of Wasps from activating?
  • Can Amaryllis activate the Wall of Fire as her 1 spell/check, but then the Cape of Wasps automatically activates, and then the same thing as #3 happens?
  • Does Amaryllis not have the opportunity to activate the Wall of Fire not matter, since the Cape of Wasps automatically activates as her 1 spell/check?

1. Nyctessa can use Banner of Valor as long as it was displayed before the encounter. I've read Banner of Valor as an instruction (See below).

2. Once Cape of Wasps is displayed it doesn't have any powers that are used. Those are instructions. Basically the difference is that cape of wasps tells you to do something and doesn't give you an option. For instance if it said "You may add d6+poison" or "recharge this card to add d6+poison" then it would become you playing the card. As written Nyctessa can use the d6.

3. Amaryllis wouldn't get the d6 or poison trait since this becomes an impossible instruction. immunities

4. #2 tells us that Cape of Wasps is an instruction and #3 tells us that this becomes an impossible instruction and it'd be ignored. So think this question has already been answered. but I do want to specifically answer "Does Amaryllis not have the opportunity to activate the Wall of Fire not matter, since the Cape of Wasps automatically activates as her 1 spell/check?" - It's important to note that you would play Wall of Fire during the "determine the skill you're using" step which is before "play cards and use powers that affect your check" step. So IF cape of wasps was a power and not an instruction, you'd still be ok because you would've already used Wall of Fire.
