Unfortunately, Master Morbis, the joke will be on you when you arrive home. They don't pay us poor retired folk much coin, I'm afraid ;)

*checks his hidden coin pouch when no one is looking*

Goblin Squad Member

My eye is well trained to keep track of coin pouches. It's impossible to hide coins from me! Unless I blink or get distracted.

Feydred, do you know how much strategising you've just begun? "100 Ways to Distract Feydred", a dissertation by XXX*.

My new Callambea alias/avatar. Would you consider this an evil smile or a jovial smile? So hard to find a jovial merchant face in all those hundreds of avatars.

Greetings to all, just getting acquainted with this part of the community. I am a recruit to Pax Aeternum, but really don't expect to not be accepted.

My current plans are fairly simple, to be a human warrior, go out in the world and bring back the items we need, ore, herbs, ale, etc. Oh, and to not get killed/robbed while doing this, always an important detail. I will have a Destiny's Twin who's path is yet to be determined, but will most likely include Arcane or Divine magic and whatever skills the community finds itself short on.

I expect to have great fun being drunk and cracking skulls with you all. I have devised a fairly straightforward and simple to follow strategy for combat that I hope to share with you all: KILL THEM FIRST.
Properly executed this strategy has never failed me, well except for that one time with the guy with the poisoned blade...

I think you're a used cart salesman and I wouldn't trust a man with a cheeky smile like that!

Goblin Squad Member

Yes, he looks a bit slick, doesn't he? He certainly has a lot of cheek too.

Welcome to our little cubbyhole in the community, Ironsam!

It may look little, but I've been doing some digging. Now it's little and dirty.

Goblin Squad Member

A little dirt never hurt anything!

Goblin Squad Member

So Kard, what real-life ale does Warstein taste like? :)

Goblin Squad Member

I would have to say it's a lot like Guinness. Not the kind that you get in the state, no no no. The kind that you get in Ireland, where it's more of a meal in a glass.

But Ales aren't all we offer! Warstein Ales and Spirits offers Lagers, Stouts, Pale and Dark Ales of various flavors! During my travels around the inner sea, I've come up with fruity, sweet, sour, bitter and smooth recipes. We also have Liquors, Wines, Meads and Ciders in a variety of flavors!

Get your menu with our prices and selections at the Talking Head Tavern in the Trade City Callambea Today!

On a side/serious note: how is the whole in-game brewing stuff going on? I know they haven't really worked on those consumables entirely yet, but what is going on so far? haven't looked at the vlog yet

Goblin Squad Member

No idea. I'm assuming it'll be wrapped up in some crafting or another. I'm hoping it'll be it's own, but I imagine it would be wrapped up with some sort of Cooking skill.

I've heard very little on the subject, which is unfortunate considering Brewmaster and Tavern Owner are two of the ways to buy your way into the game.

Goblin Squad Member

I assume you are aware of this, right?

Goblin Squad Member

I knew it!

Selling on the side, eh, Mr. Warstein?

*runs off and buys a few cases*

I accidently bought some. It arrived. I tried it. My brothers around Ozem's Vigil tried some.

It was all gone within an hour.

I am jealous. We have nothing to match it, yet. Now we are extracting resources to trade for more.

What is in that stuff?

Goblin Squad Member

Some of this, some of that. Well, a lot of that really. Let's just say without supplies coming up the Sellen from the Five Kings Mountains, there wouldn't be much in Warstein Ale... though our Spirits and other Brews are easily made with local fare.

Hah! I just got back from a vacation in Ireland, believe it or not, and I loved my visit to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. :) Excellent answer, as far as I'm concerned (though I'm not exactly a beer drinker, I can go for a Guinness).

I've not tried that, no, but I'm sure there's a Warstein speciality brew that'll come close! If it sucks, then it's an imitation of pure Warstein Ale and should be from then on absent from your larder!

Welcome to Caleth and Chaotic Law, our two newest members!

Just thought i would say hello folks. Good to see the forums starting to heat up on the run up to EE. Have been a long term member of Pax and recently joined Aeternum

Looking forward to getting stuck in although i think i will avoid the ale. If Warstein Ale is like Guinness. I am one of the few people who come from Ireland who cant stand the stuff lol

Cya all in game

Goblin Squad Member

Welcome, Jonaontas! I'm certain there are plenty of other perfectly lovely choices with smaller marketing budgets, though, right?

Which one's your favorite then? During my trip to Ireland most of the time I was drinking Smithwick's, I only got to the Guinness late in the trip (wanted to wait for Dublin to get a Guinness at the Storehouse ;) )

Goblin Squad Member

Guinness is better on tap. Better than it is in the USA. I lean more towards German and Belgian ales & lagers.

To all Harvesters, Refiners, Crafters, and Merchants!

Come to Callambrea!

Won in the first Land Rush, our settlement is carefully situated to be the premier trade hub of the River Kingdoms. Here is just a small list of advantages we can offer you and yours:

- Close to the road for daily commerce traffic

- Close to a starter town for fresh customers in need of their first gear

- Close to mountains for all the metals and stone you could want

- Close to woods for lumber and game

- Surrounded by PvE content for combat and valuable resources

Callambea will specialize in a well chosen menu of training choices, have the best refining and crafting facilities, and as a Lawful Neutral settlement, will cater to the widest range of merchandise. If you dream of being a master craftsman or wealthy merchant, Callambea is the place to set up shop.

What didn't you know about Callambea?

- Callambea will house Corpus Aeternum, it's highly trained and experienced army. From home defense and harvesting operation protection to our strike force for up to full scale warfare, Corpus Aeternum has the might to ensure that the coin flows safely through Callambeas' gates.

- When Callambea's caravans set out, they do so under under guard of the Hounds of the Imperium - Callambeas crack mercenary corps. When confronted by the Hounds' warriors, bounty hunters and assassins, any bandits foolish enough to raid a Callambean caravan will truly wish they had pursued another line of work.

So whatever your plans for PFO, if they involve victory, success, wealth and fame, then look no further for your place to call home.

When I first saw your post I was like, "Wait a minute. I don't remember making that post."

Then I looked up and saw it wasn't my name. :P

Oh yes, you can't compare Guinness on tap in Ireland with Guinness sold in cans or bottles elsewhere. I drank it for the first time in Dublin and loved it but when I bought it here in Italy I was bitterly disappointed.

"Bitterly"

Har har har...

Guiness is more of a food group than a drink, a properly poured Pint is done in 3 stages and takes 5-10 mins to settle. The lazy version in most pubs is done in 2, if its done in one its just wrong. Even if i liked the stuff i wouldnt be keen on waiting for it lol.

I prefer a nice cider with plenty of ice, there are some nice bottled ciders from Armagh that i enjoy, outside that i like a nice rum and an occasional lager

Goblin Squad Member

MMMMmmm....Cider.

Goblin Squad Member

Warstein Dwarves have found that if you eat food, you don't have nearly as much room as you should for Ale. Thus the meal-in-a-tankard quality of Warstein Ale.

Goblin Squad Member

Meal-in-a-tankard... just as Guinness, after all. I'm sure I'll love Warstein Ale, even if it's dwarf-made.

GW released a 3-D map a loooong time ago and it turns out they must have known Aeternum was keen on prime real estate.

Thanks Guurzak, nice to have a better idea of where i will be based {:

Goblin Squad Member

Seeing the trails that go to Callambea and the local resources gets me all giddy.

Something else that should get you all giddy, Feydred.

As per the Blog "Beyond this Hill it Floods Rays of Hope" that our friend Guurzak pointed out:

Quote:
We chose a segment of the map—roughly 5x5 hexes—that included all the locations we needed.

and

Quote:
The area we built includes two settlements, three monster hexes, a badlands hex, and lots of wilderness hexes spread across an area that is primarily Mountain and Forest terrain.

If you review the Landrush Map, you'll note that Callambea has -sans swampland- ready access to every single base resource hex.

As someone devoted to crafts, this should be an exciting proposition. While bulk goods will be decided upon by the needs of the settlement, each resource hex also produces crafting resources, as per Lee's Blog, "Rushing the Land":

Quote:
Hexes produce two categories of resources: crafting resources and bulk resources. Crafting resources come in a wide variety of forms: brimstone, willow bark, maple logs, adamantine, pearls, etc. We have around one hundred and thirty different types of crafting resources, with most hexes having twenty to thirty of these. Crafting resources are found by interacting with nodes that spawn in the hex, and can be collected by anyone with the right skills. If a hex is overtaxed, these resources become scarcer, and it is possible to temporarily exhaust a hex of its resources. Bulk resources will be produced by Points of Interest and Outposts, and represent the large-scale components needed to construct buildings, upgrade Points of Interest, etc.

So, let's review. On top of Callambea's Company Specializations:

Callambea also offers it's crafters and traders:

  • Access to almost every single base hex available, either for bulk good or crafting resources
  • Access to monster and ruin hexes for quick procurement of monster related crafting materials and recipes, a confirmed monster-drop item during Early Enrollment.
  • Ready access to the only major East - West running road available at Early Enrollment
  • A steadfast focus on offering the highest quality training available to the crafting / gathering classes in the River Kingdoms

No matter the kind of crafter or gatherer you want to be, no matter your focus in materials or craft, Callambea is utterly and completely focused on providing you with the resources, training and environment you need to make that happen.

unless its from overly friendly dwarves, they seem to pat bottoms indiscriminately, i think its because their women have beards and they have issues telling the difference with other races as a result

*scoots a little further away from Jonaontas in case Kard Warstein overheard that comment*

What was that? Jonaontas has chosen 'the sobriety'?! Well then, we must keep all beverages of a tasty nature away from him in order to support our Aeternum brother!

Goblin Squad Member

What a horrible, horrible way to go :(

*Removes his awesome cap in remembrance of Jon. Just for a moment.*
