So is Awen finished and everyone else ready to go?

Please introduce yourselves in the Gameplay thread. This is a pretty straight dungeon crawl and the action will start quickly so make sure you know each other before you go rushing in!

Heading to Florida for the weekend. So my posting will be in the late evening until Tuesday

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Since it looks like it may be a real possibility for some/most of you, here are the associated costs with dying and having to be recovered later:

Have your body recovered by a rescue team: 5 PP

Raise Dead spellcasting: 16 PP or 5450 gp

Restoration spellcasting (for one casting): 4 PP or 1280 gp

Raise Dead leaves you with two permanent negative levels; you don't have to get them removed right away, but you probably will want to and that requires a Restoration spell for each one

If you are unfamiliar with negative levels, realize that they don't actually take away class levels. It's essentially a reduction of HP and a -1 to every check. So you would still be the same level, but you'd be playing with some serious disadvantages. But if you don't have the resources, those can be removed at a later time.

Oof. I don't have 16PP lying around, only 10.

I have about 2314 gp, so I'll need some cash to afford raise dead. I can probably sell everything to get to around 3000 gp.

Hmm. Anyone wants to chip in a few thousand gold?

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Even if you die in this encounter and don't get the rewards for it, you should still get some money from this adventure, which you can put towards a raise. I'll calculate that out and let you know the total once we resolve the massacre going on in there.

When I played this we struggled too (and our GM pulled his punches a bit too). That thing has a wand of invisibility, a wand of summon monster, and a bunch of scrolls of summon monster. And then on top of that, if you read his abilities literally every time he grapples you he gets sneak attack and the evisceration ability damage and (as I mentioned), it is perfectly legal to grab and release to be able to do that on all four claws every turn. This is one of the meanest fights I've seen since The Dalsine Affair. Almost guaranteed character death.

Liberty's Edge

I know this is a stretch, but we do technically still have one character that bailed. Is there any way that you would be willing to NPC him in an attempt to try and get us out of this mess? or are there enough hit points left on the thing that it wouldnt make any difference?

Dvalin is going to be short about 3k as well, unless he sells off his gear too.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

I don't think Rackle would have made a difference. It's only down about 1/3 of its HP. And modules are actually written for four characters, believe it or not.

That was only 1/3 of it's HP? We stood no chance.
I guess the Mi-Go is the "just close the door and walk away" encounter of this module :P

I think a normal mi-go with AC of 20 would have been brutal enough. Developers just had to bump it up a notch.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

So after extensive searching through the Guide to Organized Play, the rules for modules, and the GM forums, I can't find any definite answers as to what happens when you have to run from an encounter. In a scenario, the requirements for prestige are laid out clearly. Not so for modules, as they aren't written with PFS in mind.

Either way, you completed enough to get the full 3 XP. Counting up the treasure you found so far actually comes close enough to the full gold of 4800 gp that I feel comfortable giving that to you as well.

However, having to run away from the boss encounter I would put as equivalent to missing the 'secondary success condition' in a PFS scenario, which means you'll lose out on the maximum 4 PP and instead only get 3 PP. I debated only 2 PP but on modules you're already getting fewer than usual by only having a maximum of 4 PP for 3 XP so I think 3 PP is fair.

---

So now that you know how much PP and gold you have available, please let me know how you are going to recover. Everyone (except Kalendir) will need to pay 5 PP to have their body recovered. Beyond that, let me know if you are paying for your raise in gold or prestige (I imagine most of you will choose gold) and if you are getting your negative levels taken care of now, let me know whether you are using prestige or gold to get rid of them. If you are not messing with your negative levels right now I will need to note that on your sheet and you will have to get restoration cast some other time.

Once I hear back from everyone I will distribute the chronicles.

Wow, 4800 gp. No wonder there were so many fights! That Mi-Go is still nuts...

Swayaah has 2314 gp and 10 PP, so +4800 gp and +3 PP is a total of 7114 gp and 13 PP.

Swyaah will spend:
-5 PP to recover her body (I assume a fleet of paladins will be needed to steamroll that Mi-Go)
-4 PP to cast restoration
-5500 to cast raise dead, giving her life but 2 negative levels
-1280 gp to cast restoration

Leaving her with 334 gp and 4 PP. And no negative levels.

And she's level 4 with 10 XP! Woo! 4 Urban Ranger let's go!
...and now she'll use her Owlbear Companion Boon. She'll name him Fluffy, maybe?

I knew that the rewards for this thing were high, but I had no clue they were that high! Thank you for being generous with the rewards! I may yet be able to pull this off!!

Awen currently has 11 pp 859 gp. +3 pp and 4800gp = 14pp and 5659 gp.
Spend:5 pp Recovery, 5450 gp Raise Dead, 8 pp for restoration. Leaving me with a grand total of 1 pp, 209 gp.

For the love of god, I made it! I'm sorry, I have really been stressing this lol. This is my first Pathfinder character, and the one that I use for my home games, so I have a bit more attachment to him than my others.

Swayaah: ME TOO!!!!! I dont know what I am going to name it, but yes, my owlbear finally gets to hatch. One of my other characters is a Hunter, and her companion is a velociraptor..named Giggles.

----------------------------
-5 PP Recovery
-5500 gp Raise Dead
-1280 gp Restoration
-4 PP Restoration

11 PP and 158 gp

Could have been a lot worse I suppose.

Thank you EF for running the module.
