Pretty sure they're just hallucinations.

I love Gnomes so much >//<

I just can't stay mad at gnomes. They're just too goddanged cute.

Almost as good for target practice as goblins!

There needs to be a forum flag for threads that make me snort my drinks. It's too late to ask for a new keyboard for Christmas.

I do like all the gnome lore. The gnome godclaw hellknight, Regil, from wrath of the righteous saying he isn't scared of mortality when questioned about his bleaching was such an interesting gnome concept. He was a case study in how to play a LE character in a party and not be disruptive (maybe not his introduction in the videogame but he wasn't part of the party yet). Now I wanna see the inverse as a gnome wellspring sorcerer. I'd make a CG gnome just bursting at the seems with First World energy and a "never gonna die" personality.

For me it's gotta be Leshies. No other ancestry allows me to so easily make my Molthuni Battle Potato, or recreate the titular antagonist of the Slaughtermelon horror film franchise.

Also, I have made this comparison so often I feel silly about it, but it's the best example of "big head small eyes cute" I have. Mouse Guard's approach would be really nice for kobolds.

I feel like Goblins already fit pretty distinctly in the big head and round shapes department. If PF2 kobolds get any updates, I'd rather see them get less goblinic so they stand out better, not more.

7 people marked this as a favorite.

Yeah, kobolds got moved really close to goblins with the "shark head" update, but it's too late to undo that now. Guess it's them or us. Paizo is gonna have to remove goblins from the game.

That makes sense. Kobolds and Goblins have always sort of awkwardly shared some similar design space and kobolds are way cooler.

Deleting goblins really is the only solution.

No, statues of goblins are okay. You can commemorate the lore that once was.

Looks like I might have to beguile some of those half-witted--
er...
I mean, earnestly and legitimately rally a goblin resistance in response to this existential threat!

...Or maybe I'll just go back to sleep. Those useless buggers are hardly worth the effort.

Kobolds should be the mascot Ancestry for P2, not Goblins. Everyone loves the plushies more than the bobbleheads.

There, I said it.

It needed to be said.

Goblins = Chaotic.

Kobolds = Lawful.

Praised be the alignment system. There is room for everybody.

Eh, Gnomes and Kobolds both are good.

Especially with ketchup.

Super biased here but my super serious argument for Leshies is their incredibly customizable aesthetic, all before clothing is involved.

With just the nine official Leshy heritages we currently have, I’ve seen at least a hundred unique designs. Not even counting versatile heritages.

Tangent (in my own thread? For shame), but have you heard of the Botanical Bestiary, the Leshy-centric bestiary? :3

9 was a great movie, therefore poppet is the TRUE successor mascot ancestry.

I loved the trailer for 9. I really wish I liked the screenplay.

How did I forget about poppets? Being a walking voodoo doll is amazing!

I change my vote to poppet now. I have been shown the light.

...also 9 confused the heck out of me.

Good :P

Also there's a grippli PC in the game I run, and it's super fun to run the NPC's reacting to tiny talking froggy boi, absolutely hysterical (he's a healer who wears this itty bitty white cloak, and the mini is the cutest thing I've ever seen!)

The Concordance

We grippli make awesome heroes!

Kobold variants with low charisma needed. They should be our ugly cute overlords.

Absolute blasphemy against Deekin, the Sorcerer favored class, and every piece of "sexy kobold" art on DA.

I'm a fan of the Ysoki. One of my first PF characters was a human investigator raised by Ysoki, and then a later character was their sister, a brawler with a mechanical arm that probably weighed more than she did. Good times.

The real shame here is that they didn't title their product the Encyclopedia Botanica.

Man, you all have really weird ways of spelling Shoony, which we all know is the most objectively superior ancestry in all of Pathfinder.

What do you mean "nuance is OVER"? The real question now is which color is best color?

The answer is most likely green. While there some arguments towards blue, some people would argue, in bad faith, that red a valid answer.

Rumor has it all mascot ancestries are secretly gnomes wearing the rare and treasured Trenchcoat of Illusions

"Let us consult the wisdom of the ancients..." Calpurnia U. Poshkettle considers her learning from ancient cultures. It's a good think that she is a bard that knows everything. She consults her memories and then intones...

The Azlanti Empire has many colors, it's true
But they profoundly distrust those dressed in BLUE,
And they exile every foppish fellow
Who dares to parade in the dreaded YELLOW
And should a rogue dare dress in RED
Why! The Emperor himself will chop off his head!
So when Azlanti Courtiers prance and preen,
They all giddily galavant in GREEN!

She then bows and says, "But what do the the Azlantis know? Wear the colors of your heart and enjoy your best life!"

I have been thinking about my own preferences as far as characters go: aside from one elf duskwalker due to me introducing her morrigna mom in Lost Omens Legends, all my PF2 characters have been short. 3 gnomes, 1 goblin bard, 1 kobold swashbuckler, 1 leshy bard (based on something else I wrote) and 1 planned grippli forensic investigator for which I still have to purchase the boon. I wrote up his character sheet already, though, so Dr. Frog will be a thing.

But I have yet to create a halfling, despite liking that hillock halflings can heal themselves with snacks, and so many halflings are lucky, and I love the concept of luck-based characters. It sure seems like halflings are getting short end of the stick.

My understanding is that Draconic Kobolds were invented whole cloth by WOTC for 3e because they felt the 2e Kobolds were too similar to Goblins and needed something to differentiate them.

Does anybody know who those original authors were who came up with the idea?

The number of Kobold characters I play might drop significantly once dragons come out, but going from 60% down to 30% and still being in second place says a lot.
Also once I play a Dragon I might need a party of Kobold minnio- I mean compatriots for gold gathering commission's.

What's this about Dragons, now?

3 people marked this as a favorite.

They're referring to the 3P books coming out that will let you play as a dragon PC.

Ah, that won't help with PFS much. Thanks for the clarification!

I'll admit, I'm not a big smallfolk girl - the only gnomes I like are D&D 4e's, and I'm not sure I love any halflings (Eberron's are inoffensive, but don't hook me) - but I appreciate how many other options for them 2e offers. Chalk me up on Team Kobold, at least until we get 2e Wyrwoods... or I think of a Small Fleshwarp I'd like enough to play.
