Welcome to Pathfinder Society Boon
Per the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide, page 37-
*A player may apply the Welcome to Pathfinder boon to their first character (XXX-01)
Notes:
This boon does not need to be the first boon applied to the character. While designed for new characters, it is helpful at any stage of playing, so may be given regardless of when the character was made. It may not be applied to any other number character.
We are working on a way to restore erroneously deleted characters. If a player deleted their -01 character, they may send a request to pfsreportingerrors@paizo.com and we will restore the character as soon as we have the means to do so.

Good to know that this boon can be retroactively applied since it wasn't even available as an option when I made my 01 PFS character. :)

Mike, I remember Tonya mentioning that they were working on a way to fix the accidental "permanently" deleted xx-1 characters so you'd need to send an e-mail to a certain address, let me see if I can find it.
You have a very rare opportunity most veterans won't have =P
A chance at a fresh -1
Edit... lo and behold.. it was in this thread xD

Oh I know, and I did give it some thought... but for the last 5 years I've been writing -1 for any game I GM where I wasn't actually taking a chronicle sheet. I don't want to give anyone at Paizo any extra work on my account (literally and figuratively)! Thanks for tracking down that email address though! :)

Dumb question...
What is the "Welcome to Pathfinder Society" boon? I found the listing saying it can be applied, but not what it is.
The first post in this thread has a link to download a chronicle sheet (certificate in other campaigns) that gives your character a choice of in-game benefits when signed by a GM and included with your first PFS character, which is numbered with your PFS number followed by -1. You can receive the boon, apply and use it in the same game, or keep it for another time.

Oh, okay, I'm looking over the sheet I was given I don't see it, oh well I guess I am just missing something LOL. At least I have access to a Prestige Class! I mean it isn't one I'll go for, but would be cool on a caster!

Is there a way to find out what the boon would have been on my 1st adventure? I haven't been able to find my Chronical sheet. It was easily 6 months ago. Any ideas would be great, thanks.
Cheers,
My first game was: Pathfinder Society Scenario #6–12: Scions of the Sky Key, Part 1:
Your GM or Venture-Officer should be able to re-issue a copy of this chronicle.

Contact any local VO for help. Start with the nearest VA, then go up the chain (VA -> VL -> VC) from there.

Just asked in forum, saw the sticky: is the third option:
5 check boxes that each give you a 5 charge wand, or are the 5 check boxes to keep track of the charges on a single wand.
My VL said it was 5 boxes, and boxes on boons usually each grant what's after them. But it doesn't explicitly say either way.
So 5 or 25 charges total (times two if you gm a society game)?
Blake's Tiger |
Based on the power of the other choices, the conclusion I reach (shared by my local VC and VL) is 5 charges, one for each tick box.
Otherwise it would say something like, "At the beginning of a scenario, you may requisition a partially charged wand of CLW with 5 charges. When you do so, check a box. Once all boxes are checked, the boon is crossed off."

Hi, im new to pathfinder society and would like to know how i join.
Greetings! Start by going to Pathfinder Society's page and go through it. As you probably are acutely aware of, most of the games are now online. Our Online Region uses a Discord server for communications and you can join it at Online Region Discord.
Hope to see you in a game before long!

I live in Fayetteville nc.
Hey. I'm in Cary. Go to Facebook and look for "Pathfinder Society of North Carolina". It isn't super active, but it should get you started. PFS around here isn't what it was a few years ago, but you should be able to meet some people. Store play is in hold, but normally there were 3 stores in Wake County with weekly games. We'll see what it's like oafter COVID. No clue about Fayetteville.
Good luck and welcome.

Ok, this boon is a 2E AcP boon that allows a rebuild. It is not related to the Welcome to Pathfinder Society boon.
This is an other thread, here is the link, that talks about this boon.

You are correct, thanks Gary, I submitted a follow up question on the other thread.

Still valid for new players? What about valid for "new" PFS 2E players ie -2001 characters?
Still valid for 1e players.
There is no welcome boon for 2e players. Some of the intent of the boon (protecting new players who get stuck "playing up" is now embedded in the PC level bump and mentorship boons.

Excuse me, but the link at the very top is broken? Is this welcome to pathfinder boon still a thing in 2023?
Technically yes, but it's for the old 1st edition campaign.
2nd edition Pathfinder Society doesn't have a similar "Welcome" boon, but all players get 80 achievement points to start off, which kinda works like a welcome boon - it's enough to save your character from death or to purchase a shiny new uncommon ancestry. You also get more achievement points just for playing and GMing.
