I don't know the exact date, but my guess is "Sometime in March". If it comes out earlier, then that'll be a fun surprise for us all!

Are we there yet?

Yup. We do Player's Guides for all our Adventure Paths. I've already written this one in fact! But it won't be out for several months.

Wanted to check in on the release date of the Players Guide. Thanks :-)

As with all additional maps in adventures, they won't be published as flip mats.

Or as any kind of map? Can we request a second set of maps be displayed in the adventure that does not have all the symbols?

Hi, Alex. Can you say whether our current PFS characters will have the option of rebuilding some or all of their features and abilities to match the remastered rules?

Thanks.

Thanks for everyone posting so far, it is much appreciated.

Current idea. The character Valerie, Val for short, is a human from, let’s say Taldor. I feel like they have a lot of parties. Val, and her poodle, Trixie, took a sailing vacation to be more worldly, i.e., more diverse parties. Sadly, massive storms hit the ship and after several harrowing nights that surly would have ended in Val and Trixie’s doom, the storm passed and the ship and crew limped towards the nearest port…Mechitar of Geb. Feeling lucky, Valerie and Trixie decided to take shore leave. Through a bizarre quirk of fate and skittish skeletal horses they were immediately trampled by a runaway cart carrying party supplies. By accordance with Geb’s Dead Laws, Valerie was summarily turned into a Zombie and sent to the farms outside of Greydirge to harvest the fields…for ever. We won’t talk about what happened to Trixie, but no amount of seasoning would keep Trixie’s spirit away from her favorite human. Nor would any amount of mindlessness keep Valerie away from the developing fashion trend or the new juicy local gossip. “Did you hear what happened at the bank?” Besides, eternity of manual labor, that’s going to be a big no! By sheer pluckiness, Val awakens from her mindlessness, summons her ever faithful Trixie, and leave the harvesting behind. Luck would have it there is this organization, called the Celebrants, where her gossip skills will be most welcomed. A match made in unlife, but first, Val really needs to find a powder room and some new clothes.

Valerie is a Summoner with an undead Eidolon, Trixie. Val will get good use out of Gossip Lore from the Dandy Archetype as well (why that’s not Charisma based is a missed opportunity in my opinion). Abilities will focus Charisma->Int & Con->Dex-> Str & Wis. Val will have a dismally low AC so I’ll have to be creative with spells and Items and hide a lot. Aside from doing her daily yoga, Val will have plenty of time to rub shoulders with the local socialites.

I chose Summoner because Val is lazy of sorts or maybe just more focused on local gossip, parties, and fashion. I feel like this class requires the least amount of pretend study and skills to Val would have to put effort in, while also allowing, Trixie to have some form. Another idea was making Trixie a familiar and going another route with the class, maybe bard, but trying not to double up on the bardic players. Besides, Undead Eidolon gives the highly valuable Harm spell, even if it is of limited frequency. Also, Val is a little selfish, and buffing the whole team seems like an awful lot of work.

I welcome constructive criticism and suggestions. Those trying to eat femurs may I recommend the humerus. It’s a smaller bone, and if you do gag, it will be funnier.

Depending on your tables variation for free archetype you may also want to throw in the wrestler archetype since grabbing is encouraged with your bites anyway

do natural weapons count as simple? because if yes rogue might be interesting since the ruffian racked would allow you to bite sneak attack
and since grabbed enemies are automatically flat footed you can be really mean to them

of course the barbarian as natural best grappler next to monk comes also to mind - especially beast totem
zombie werebear anyone?

Natural weapons do not count as simple, their category is classified as unarmed. The zombie bite is not simple or finesse and not match well with the rogue class. A ghoul, however; would totally work with your rogue idea, as their claw and bite have finesse & agile, and finesse respectively.

Wrestler archetype is a great addition. And yes to zombie werebear!

Thanks for making it a conversation.

Was trying to create a zombie with a 90’s Valley Girl ish personality for a blood lord campaign. My initial thought was someone from Jalmeray, who was on spring break at Geb, as one is want to do, but accidentally killed by something ridiculous. I initially had them as a monk/martial artist, because the idea of a zombie doing morning yoga and stretches is funny to me. But I’m curious what other infinitely many class options might be out there that are better than this one. Oh, free archetype is in play. Zombie feats are more or less free.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance.

The first Campaign Path is based simply around Season/Metaplot.

There are not enough scenarios in a season to get a character from Level 1 to level 12 by itself. Since Seasons 2-5 have a metaplot and Seasons 0 and 1 don't, I used scenarios from Season 0 and 1 to fill out the lists.

Also while the PFS Specials are integral to the story/plot of the Seasons I understand that they may not be available. As such whenever I list a PFS special in the list I also list an alternative scenario that can be used if the special is unavailable.

So without further ado:

Campaign Path 1, by Season:

Character 1: Season 2

Have you made any lists for 2e pfs scenarios?

Was thinking about the alchemist and other than limiting the batches per day, is there any reason that alchemist couldn’t have a variable Key Ability?

Their uniqueness is in their adaptability and versatility why not have them able to focus the class ability on what they want to master. Throwing crumpled parchment of failed formulas into the trash can, stronger from constant use of bestial mutagens, tougher from tasting or spilling the poisons, smarter from late night study sessions, wiser from learning from their assurance fatal mistakes, more charming from spoking the coffee with cool juice.

Appreciate the thoughts and feedback from every odd reply.

Does the Skeleton Boon answer the question "can you heal undead with Soothe?"

Soothe says it targets a LIVING creature, but book of the dead gives it as an example for healing undead creatures. Since this is an easy issue to houserule in a home game, but absolutely character breaking problem of table variation in Society games, is there any chance we could get a society rule, or at least a recommendation, for this?

In Pathfinder Society, soothe works on undead PCs (or undead enemies, I suppose). The design team intends to alter its target to "one willing creature" the next time the errata process starts up.

What’s the thinking on, for example, a skeletal summoner with a anger phantom eidolon both getting hit with a 3-action heal (or a harm) spell? One may take damage based on the save, the other will heal. Would we represent that in math in the shared hp or something else?

Thanks

Hello Starfinders and OP

I wanted to double check to see if the “Remote Monitoring System“ (Source Starfinder #34: We’re No Heroes pg. 47) is a legal armor upgrade. It doesn’t seem so. I’m asking because I was interested in playing an original unoriginal someday famous, vidgamer character who ups their game to a live action reality show. Saw part of the idea on several threads and it looked fun. I figured a good a good vidgamer/realty show needs some good quality production equipment which led me to the remote monitoring system. The fans can watch my progress even my health as I go live on missions. Anywho, if this upgrade isn’t legal is there a workaround? Or is the idea unfundable? Maybe there is an AP or one-off in this concept? I ramble now.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate your thoughts.

Well when you choose a pantheon you get to pick between your patron deity and the pantheon for domains, alternate domains, and spells. Basically you're getting more options in exchange for doubling the amount of edicts and anathema you have to juggle. I'd guess that favored weapon works the same way with you choosing between your patron or the pantheon as a whole.

And like always you can only have one favored weapon.

Was my impression, but then paizo has to go and include some parts in the description and exclude others. Was it purposeful, or just incomplete? I suspect we won’t get a solid answer, but I had to try.

HumbleGamer wrote:
I see that on nethys all Pantheons have a specific weapon.

Yes, as does each deity. Do we get to choose which one we use? The rules above don’t mention the favored weapon (or skills for that matter), only spells, domains, edicts and anathemas (which are required from both the pantheon and specific deity).

Trying to find some more details on using a pantheon for a character and I got stuck on the favored weapon. Rules say

Quote:
"A pantheon is a group of related gods worshipped either individually or together. Most pantheons are associated with a specific ancestry or geopolitical region, but rarely, a pantheon consists of deities with overlapping areas of concern. Followers work to advance the shared interests of their pantheon, directing prayers to whichever god presides over their current activity or circumstance. At the GM’s discretion, champions and clerics can dedicate themselves to a pantheon. In such cases, the characters still worship a specific patron deity among those in the pantheon, but also follow the edicts and anathema of the pantheon as a whole. A character who worships a pantheon this way can gain the domains, alternate domains, and spells from the pantheon instead of those from their patron deity. They must uphold the ideals of both their patron deity and the pantheon, though the patron deity’s edicts and anathema take precedence. For example, a worshipper of Iomedae could worship the Godclaw, but they wouldn’t take the tyranny domain, as it would be in conflict with Iomedae’s edicts. In rare cases, a character can worship a pantheon without following a patron deity. Such cases are unique and subject to GM approval."

https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1386

But what about the favored weapon? Can I choose either? Do I have to choose the Pantheon's weapon over the specific deity or vice versa?

Your thoughts?

GM here. I originally ruled against it, as I had thought that Eldritch Trickster stated that you could take a multiclass archetype that had access to the Basic, Expert, and Master spellcasting benefits- which Magus does not have (it has the Basic, Expert, and Master bounded spectating benefits).

However, after going back to Eldritch Trickster, I noticed the exact text read, "Choose a multiclass archetype that has a basic, expert, and master spellcasting feat." While Magus has the bounded spellcasting, the feats themselves are listed as "Basic Magus Spellcasting," and so on. The feat's description does state that it grants bounded spellcasting benefits, but I rules in favor of the name since "feat" was specifically called out rather than the benefits themselves.

To Paizo, sorry if this is too early to be discussing Magus multiclass stuff! Delete if you need to.

Very glad you all started the discussion early as it was something I was wondering the day after picking up the book. I agree that the trickster shouldn’t be restricted here, because “trickster,” and the wording in my humble opinion allows such an opening as Camellen suggested; however, given the lack of a concrete answer I myself might take the slower path of Mastermind and 2nd level dedication Magus etc. … for now.

Thanks again for starting this thread.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

At the moment I like relating the anathema to the Hippocratic oath of doctors with divine backing and consequences. I also like Korada’s thinking that every soul they can redeem to the side of good grows their side by one and subtracts from the side of evil. Versus the constant death and zero-sum game play of both sides killing each other.
I think in home games much of what you all said would work well and I would agree with your arguments for mindless undead (and mindless constructs). I think society play may still be a sticky point and may require stricter adherence to the wording or an update by Paizo. Either way these characters could bring an interesting dynamic an story telling in the right game, possibly.

Again, thanks for the discussion. Be well.

Korada and Qi Zhong are both deities with an anathema to causing lethal damage to creatures. Korada, specifically, speaks about seeking and allowing for redemption. So how does that work for undead, more so for the mindless ones than those with a mind? It would seem that even nonlethal damage would destroy the undead as soon as it reaches 0 hp. Is redemption possible? Are there spells that would undo the creation of these undead without “killing” or causing lethal damage?

Your thoughts and insight will be most appreciated.

Thank you everyone for your passionate arguments and discussion. There doesn’t seem to be a solid consensus, so until Paizo deems this worthy of an elaboration we will have to take a Leap of Faith. Hmmm, new jumping feat for Champions?

Sudden Leap:

Where does this say you increase the height of the jump? It only mentions the DC. It's possible that the wording is wrong and the intent is to increase the height, but I don't see how you can interpret the current wording as increasing the height of the jump. High jump isn't like Long Jump, it's a static DC to increase the height of the jump, not a scale, so having something change the DCs wouldn't increase the height.

Interesting. So by using that text what is the high jump DC given that I use the long jump DC?

I have a question regarding the height of the High Jump given these feats Sudden Leap vs Fantastic Leap vs Flamboyant Leap. How high?

Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you for the input!

Blake's Tiger wrote:
It was supposed to be applied when purchased, not assigned and held, so it has no effect after the deadline (apparently August 31st).

I hear what you are saying, but take for a minute the scenario below.

Scenario in which this boon was purchased for a character on, let’s say the 30th of Aug., but the next game available for said player was September 1st then this boon would be useless?

The boon does not indicate that the character needs to be played, but does indicate that “All changes to the character must be applied by the time the character next plays an adventure; once the adventure begins, no further changes can be made with this boon.”

I see no rational reason to enforce a player that the have to play said character before the deadline as that seems like an unrealistic restriction on things the player might not have control of, as well as there being no real difference on the character as long as changes did not incorporate materials beyond Aug 31, “supposed” reasons aside.

Anywho, appreciate the discussion and arguments.

*

Yah, it’s the boon that ended Aug 31. It’s the full rewrite history. I would surmise, given this discussion and the boon description that all changes to the character can’t be from materials produced after August 31.

Final thoughts?
