Party of six

Zakkar Shoanti Paladin or Sarenea
Willow Varisian Witch sister to Zenovia
Zenovia Varisian Rogue sister to Willow
Cass Varisian Cleric of Calistra
Zenji Xian Monk
Cillyra Halfling Summoner

They likewise just finished up the Catacombs of Wrath. They had a big fight with Erylium in the Cathedral but, she turned invisible and ran. She then followed the party to the Vargouilles where most of the party got stunned and she did some attacks. the party however beat off the vargouilles. So she flew to Korovus and with his aid release all of the Zombies (My party are very good optimizers so I needed to beef up the encounters). The end result they waited in the Vargouilles pool room. Backed off the entance and each zombie took multiple attacks coming into the room. The fight end with the party slaying a buffed Korovus and Erylium got pushed into the collapsed stairwell going up thats clogged. My party has no idea how to deal with her.

Imaharu Kitsune Barbarian CN -thread in Advice section looking for advice.

Zangar Dwarf Wizard LG (Thassilonian Wrath school)

Adrika Kobold Ninja NG

Turtle Half Orc Tower Shield Specialist Fighter N

Darius Deverin Human Inquisitor of Iomedae LN

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Drazz - Human Wizard(Fire Elementalist)
Gus - Human Fighter(Archer)/Sorcerer(Seeker)
Ulfin - Human Barbarian(Twohanded Weapons)
Zelkerut - Half-Orc Cleric(Separatist) of Desna

Damage hasn't been a problem, but we lack a little in social graces.

Tiefling (Demon spawn) Paladin of Ragathiel
Aasimar (Garudakin) Sorcerer - Elemental Fire
Aasimar Cleric of Saenrae
Elf Wizard - Thassilonian Enchanter
Half-Elf Rogue

We start next week, should be interesting to see how all the outsiders get along. 2 are experienced players, 2 have a little experience, and 1 is brand new (and playing a wizard! good for him) so I will more than likely be keeping them on the fast XP track to avoid potential TPKs..

Only 3 players and the characters are gestalt...

Aasimar Paladin/Oracle of Metal
Aasimar Ranger (Trapper Arch.)/Cleric
Aasimar Zen Archer/Sorcerer

We are two sessions into the campaign. Four players...

Frig, an Elf Druid with a viper companion
Zorn, an Elf Ranger
Krumpkin, a Gnome Arcane Sorcerer
Ragnor, a Half-Orc Barbarian.

Mal, a bard. Is infamous throughout Varisia as Shayless has written a best selling comedy romance series of books that..ah..belittles...him.

Vengar, a monk worshiper of the lord of the Ivashu and stalwart opponent of Lamashtu.

Keeley , a druid and her cheetah companion Seema. Never suffers a goblin to live (not even the children...)

Casey, a cleric and librarian.

These four were bought up in the orphanage in Sandpoint, and for many years were close friends with both of Lonjiku's children. it was thought Mal would marry another of the orphans, Nualia...but sadly while he was away studying in the big city, fate conspired to take that away from him...

Later on they were joined by..

Thane, a thief and generally all round dodgy geezer. Part time bouncer and smuggler for a local madame. For all his wayward antics, he proved his quality when he refused a place in the skinsaw cult (and a fortune to betray the orphans of sandpint)

Merimaat, a sorcerer with fire in her veins. Obsessed with Osiron culture, summoning bats and fire scarabs, and dodgy puns.

(Nb , shayless's books are entirtled : "what Mal did" "what mal did next" "mal and vengar go in swinging" and "mal and vengar ride again")

Typical city guard : "so, YOU'RE Mal the bard? I read a book about you. I'm sorry to hear about your little..." Gestures vaguely at Mals groin " ..err... Misfortune."

My players' PCs (party of six):
Arya, elf sorceror (destined bloodline)- she's a little spacey, but brilliant (highest stat is actually Int rather than Cha, thanks to elfy bonuses).
Chitat, aasimar (Ulfen descent) sorceror (celestial bloodline)- sold as a bed-slave by her brothers when their parents died, she got unceremoniously dumped off in Magnimar after her sugar daddy/owner died unexpectedly and his wife found out about her existence.
Haern, human (Chelaxian) cleric of Torag- on the run from Cheliax after his family was murdered in one of House Thrune's periodic purges. Always looking over his shoulder.
Harold, half-orc fighter- all the way from Drenchport, the newest arrival to Sandpoint when the game started, out for drink and glory. Strangely thoughtful, though. He can always be counted on to fail a clutch Will save.
Korel, human (Varisian) monk- albino dropped off at the House of Blue Stones as an infant by superstitious parents, she's the only PC actually raised in Sandpoint, and who was present during the Late Unpleasantness.
Naionna, elf rogue- devout Calistria-worshipper and sneak-thief. She fell hard for Aldern Foxglove after rescuing him at the Swallowtail Festival.

The Party of 6:

DM-PC - Dominic Stormsteel - Taldan(Human) Bladebound Magus
A well traveled man, who grew up in Absalom and after his mother's death, moved from city to city in the Inner-Sea area with his father. Years later, after an argument with his father, Stormsteel moved off on his own, and began studying magic anywhere he could. He eventually came to Varisia and studied at the several academies they had to offer. Stormsteel came to Sandpoint to study Thassilonian history. He found himself entirely stricken by Ameiko Kaijitsu, which through some clever negotiating he was able to spend evenings cleaning the Rusty Dragon with her and her staff for reduced boarding costs.

Kahdak Thunderspeaker - Shoanti(Human) Thundercaller Bard
Kahdak is a charasmatic Shoanti with a love of music and tales. He can sing, orate, play the didgeridoo, the totem spear, and the flute. He despises the Chellish about equal to his hatred of Orcs. The Sheriff is a childhood friend of his from his tribe and he was invited to Sandpoint for the festival by Belor.

Sinderion - Elven Alchemist
Sinderion worships no god, just 'science'. He has a contact in town in 'Pillbug' where he can get new alchemical supplies, potions, and poisons. The festival seemed like a good excuse for him to get out and enjoy the crowds, although he's a bit socially inept. During the festival he won a pie and held onto it throughout the ensuing chaos, just so he could eat half and dissect the other. He later fell head over heels for Shalelu Andosana after her arrival in town.

Fung-Wah - Tian(Human) Drunken Lotus Master of Many Styles (yes a monk with 3 archetypes)
Fung-wah is a bit of a mystery. This Tian man arrived in Sandpoint a while ago, and no one is quite sure how. He quickly became everyone's favorite drinking buddy, and is almost always seen in one of the taverns in town. He supposedly won the Hagfish challenge, and even saved the Rusty Dragon from some threat, but he remembers none of it. His work at the Dragon got him free drinks on the house for life, but every day he insists he should pay, unsure why he's getting special treatment. The only thing he appears to love more than booze is company to share his drinks with.

Kassara Moore - Varisian(Human) Cleric of Sarenrae
Kassara is a Varisian and her mother was murdered while their caravan was on the road. Her father took her to a local priest he trusted while he sought out his wife's murderers, never to return. Now a full grown woman, she's lived a secluded life, coming to Sandpoint to enjoy the ceremony as well as start the search for whatever happened to her father. She's a bit naive, but goodhearted, unaccustomed to the hardships of adventuring life.

Almaria Windstalker - Elven Rogue [Sniper & scout archetypes] *joined after the Catacombs.
Almaria is friends with Shalelu Andosana. She was sent to help the group with the assault of Thistletop while her friend scouted the other goblin tribes. Not much is yet known of her other than she's a fan of art.

Gming a 20 point buy group with the following.

~~~~~~~
Azuma: Halfling Ninja that's been heavily optimised and dual wielding weapons for max sneak damage.
Erin: Dwarven Monk with the worst AC I've ever seen for a frontliner, unfortunate magnet for crits. I fear I will unintentionally kill him sooner or later as his AC of 13 isn't changing soon.
Gongy + Roc: Human Druid and Roc companion. So far the least competent player but made up for by being the highest rolling and certainly the group's damage dealer.
Sarafin: Human Cleric of Desna with Liberation and Exploration domains. Fairly well optimised and built for melee combat. Hindered by atrocious rolling by player :P
Shecan: Human Evocative Wizard, despite being a new player has proven to be one of my favourite players due to unexpected plays by their pc.
~~~~~~~

Half the group was inducted to Pathfinder by myself with no previous RP experience but I'm quite happy with how the players are adapting and working together.

Introducing lots of side quests of my own creation with a focus throwing chaos into their games.

Liberty's Edge

Alright. We have been playing for a bit, but I just saw this thread.

We have in our group

A pair of Fraternal Twins

Cyntheria Rosae: Female Aasimaer (Peri) Witch (Winter)/Winter Witch
Faenor Rosae: Male Catfolk Ranger (Falconer, Inflitrator, Trapper)
He was originally an Aasimar, but died against Lucertia.
He was reincarneted (all we could afford scroll wise)

Gylian Warman: Male Human Barbarian
Varda Warman: Female Half-Elf Paladin (Wife of the now deceased Shadworth Warman- Male Human Gunslinger)

Casina: Female Ifrit Cleric of Sarenrae

Great thread!

My group of 5 consist of:

Camla (Varisian oracle: left Sandpoint in his early teens to learn to deal with his visions.

Derik (Chelaxian paladin/rogue): childhood friend of Camla's who went to Magnimar to learn the family mercantile business.

Hoddin (gnome wizard): traveling the world to sate his curiosities

Vartha (half-orc barbarian): exiled from the Shoanti tribes for his tainted heritage. Died at the hands of goblins while protecting Aldern Foxglove from the goblin attack on Sandpoint.

Vhearun (drow ranger): newly fled to the surface after escaping slavery at the hands of a rival drow noble house.

Gragdar (half-orc cleric): cousin of Vartha, who felt called to Sandpoint at the death of his cousin

We just played our 4th session (just cleared out the Catacombs of Wrath):

Daeron (elven)-1 lev rogue/2nd lev mage--a somewhat haughty fellow with slightly racist views towards humans and especially half elves. He turned down Shayliss because the thought of mating with a human was "beneath him".
Halas Stormspear (shoanti)-2nd lev druid-a rustic that likes his drink and pleasures of the flesh. Nala is a distant cousin.
Khorak Bloodaxe (half orc) 2nd lev ranger-a half orc that enjoys chopping up goblins. He's also considered very well spoken for a half orc.
Nala Splintershield (shoanti) 1st lev barabarian/1st lev cleric of Gorum-a head strong shoanti that likes to break doors down with her two handed sword. Stealth is not her thing.

My group is online at the Dragonlance Forums, here: http://www.dragonlanceforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?111-Rise-of-the-Ru nelords

They are as follows:

John 'Jack' Merriman, Male Human Rogue
Solangus Thrune, Male Human Fighter (Archer Archetype)
Goraxis Hammersplit, Male Dwarf Fighter
Victaria Grey, Female Human Cleric of Irori
Eulalia Gordon, Female Human Druid (Nobility Doman)
Erik Erlendson, Half Elf Bard (Savage Skald Archetype)
Kzvzk, Male?, Human?, Wizard (it's a weird, cool story)

They are about to hit level 2 after the Goblin raid on Sandpoint in Burnt Offerings.

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

I'm running this game for some friends who play pathfinder societies. Since we're not bound to race/class selections of organized play, they chose to go a bit exotic with races

Sanara, Aasmair Paladin of Sarenrae who traveled to Sandpoint for the opening of the new Cathedral

Killiel Sekken, Tiefling Magus who's a member of the Sczarni gang in Sandpoint.

Quajit, Ifrit Wizard raised by catfolk. He's visiting the town for the festival.

Quorkrane, Tengu Rogue from a nearby tribe that visits Sandpoint regularly to trade. Admires Gorvi who helped him out of a tough spot when exploring Junker's Edge.

Vlăstar Beznă, Stryx Ranger who was also adopted/raised by Father Tobyn - often blamed for the prior cathedral's burning.

Coruscoruco, Half-Orc Priest of The Raven (player created deity, Trickery and Travel domains) who is a seeker of puzzles/hidden knowledge looking for Brodert Quink.

Grand Lodge

Our group of friends is playing through this, and I am GMing. The group is just about to enter The Runeforge.

Andon (human monk)- self-trained boxer and farmer's son who is protecting his homeland. Though young, his spirit is bolstered by his absolute reliance on the law, and the inherent goodness in people.

Arturo (human inquisitor of Irori)- a prodigal son of Varisia returns home from studies abroad to find his homeland mired in choas...which he abhors.

Kiden (human fighter)- a proud son of Sandpoint, and apprentice to the blacksmith Das Korvut risen to the role of brave warrior and revered protector of the people.

Kosmin (human oracle of the heavens)- the 7th son of a 7th son, the young and brash Varisian relies on harrow readings and force of personality to overcome any obstacle.

Mikhal (human alchemist)- once the lowly errand boy for Sandpoint's resident herbalist, Aliver Podiker, Mikhal has survived impossible odds; the young alchemist's skill has kept him alive to this point....barely.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Lots of campaign story info:

Kiki - gnome sorceress from Whistledown.

An eccentric and charismatic abyssal sorceress. She woke up with a hangover on a Yondabakari river barge headed west, but not sure why. She doesn't know yet but her abyssal heritage is tightly linked to Lamashtu. For the short term that means some puzzled demons and subtle hints. However later the plan is to have Lamashtu try to use her against Karzoug: the idea being that over the course of the campaign Lamashtu realises Karzoug will challenge her dominion and she decides to try to stop him. She will be challenged to do the right thing for Varisia whilst battling with her demonic heritage and Lamashtu's increasingly appealing offers of 'support'. The evolution of her abyssal taints are changed to reflect her connection to Lamashtu.

Dagrim - dwarf barbarian from Janderhof.

From Janderhof, Dagrim left at a young age and earned his way into a Shoanti tribe. However a bad bet (and Shoanti humour) saw him having to travel to Sandpoint to take the Hagfish challenge, on pain of shaving his beard if he fails. Once the party reaches the Storval Plateau his Shoanti loyalty will see him needing to assist in saving the tribes from the growing threat from Xin Shalast and its minions. The sight of shoanti tattoos on a dwarf is a surprising sight to many.

Echo - elf bard from Riddleport.

A forlorn elf from Riddleport, fleeing the Cyphermages having stolen a Sidehedron Medallion from a party at their headquarters that she was performing at. She will find the reach of the Cyphermages is long as they pursue her across Varisia. Her bardic knowledge of Thassilonian lore, learned in Riddleport from the many scholars and mages there, is already proving useful.

Lem - halfing rogue of Yondabakari.

Growing up in a village along the Yondabakari, his family was killed by a raiding party led by one Jaggrath Kreeg. The sole survivor he fled to Magnimar and grew up on the streets. Taken in by the honourable assassin Lady Sepa, he learned his roguish ways. It turns out that Lady Sepa is having trouble with the Brothers of the Seven and also heard they were up to their tricks in Sandpoint. Lem was dispatched there, to seek is fortune whilst also being asked to report back on any signs of the Brotherhood's influence. Meanwhile the opportunity to exact revenge on the Kreegs offers itself in the future.

Delunna - half elf cleric of Milani, noble born of Korvosa.

Delunna has a complex past. The accidental daughter of a noble Korvosan family, she was forced to flee when they fell foul of Korvosan politics. She then lived in Nybor practicing in a small chapel to Milani. When wind of the new Cathedral in Sandpoint reached them, she travelled to Sandpoint to entreat for a small chapel to be created for Milani. For the first few chapters her backstory will be relatively uneventful: Milani has little to offer to the citizens of Sandpoint and Magnimar. However Milani has been paying attention to the plight of the Stone Giants: the Goddess believes that the Stone Giants are being cruelly oppressed. She will ask Delunna to take up her cause and rid the Stone Giants from Karzoug's control: although whether Delunna can convince the rest of her party that the giants are unwitting pawns and not the enemy remains to be seen. Milani soon after realises that Karzoug threatens to enslave many more than just the giants and the course she sets for her cleric becomes ever more clear.

My Group started out as:

Human (Shoanti) Fighter
Human (Varisian) Sorcerer
Human (Varisian) Alchemist
Half Elf Druid/Packlord

Burnt Offerings

The Alchemist wasn't working out, he kept throwing bombs into melee combat during the Goblin attack on Sandpoint,so,the party picked up a Rogue that was a friend of said Alchemist when the alchemist decided to open up his own shop in town. By the end of the first chapter the player playing the Druid decide that he wanted to try something a little less complicated than the Packlord (this is the first time he has played pen & paper) so the Druid went back home to the Elven Forrest and Hemlock's Ranger friend came to help solve the murders at the sawmill.

During Burnt Offerings the Fighter kept doing guard duty (player not coming to game and not sure how reliable he will be for the rest of the AP). So, to level out the party we spent the last session reworking the party dynamics. So what was decided was that the Rogue changed his character to a Magus and the Sorcerer changed to a Paladin. I will be spending the next 2 weeks figuring out how to bring in the two new characters into the party. So here is what We are Playing with as of now.

The Start of The Skinsaw Murders

Varisian Ranger (Sandpoint Native)
Varisian Magus (Sandpoint Native)
Aasimar Paladin (Deverin Family member from Magnimar)
Shoanti Fighter? (Native to the Area)

At the beginning of Burnt offerings, we had a group of five:

Vanaran Ranger
Vanaran Monk (Both from the same 'tribe', one was a retired pathfinder)
Elf Sorcerer ('illusionist') (Native to Varisia, raised with Humans)
Chelaxian Human Fighter (Sandpoint Native)
Kitsune Rogue (Retired pathfinder as well)

With our occasional drop-in player playing a Human Samurai. As you can imagine, the group really began to struggle at around Thistletop (they almost got wiped at Nualia), so everyone started to 'take the game more seriously', if I may say. The fighter and the rogue both looked over their character sheets and realised they were missing feats, the illusionist decided to take a few more evo spells on their list, and we had two characters multi-class to gain a bit of healing. We also got a permanent sixth player.

Now, at the beginning of Skinsaw Murders, we have:
Vanaran Ranger/Druid
Vanaran Monk
Elf Sorcerer
Chelaxian Human Fighter
Kitsune Rogue/Bard
Half-orc Alchemist (lived in a swamp outside of Sandpoint, decided to start adventuring after he accidentally burned down his shack)

I'm excited to see how this group fares, seeing as their 20 pnt buy. I may also be having fun as a GM referring to them as the 'group of monsters' ;).

Well along time has passed and so too have some of the PC's. Willow the witch and her sister Zenovia were seperated from the other PCs when the portcullis fell in Thistletop. Willow bravely stepped up to let Zenovia flank Nualia. Nualia crited her and she died.

Cass was turned to a red smear by Xenesha

Zenovia (the rogue that had wis as a dump stat) was totally charmed an enthralled with Xenesha. While the party was fighting and then killing X Zenovia snuck back to the PC's safe house and robbed them blind. She then went on to have X raised. X and Z where abouts are unknown ATM.

Zenji met his end at the hands of Jaagrath Kreeg.

The new party members

Zakkar and Cillyra live on

Sgt Gabrial Corax hailing from lastwall and a fauchard trip AoO fighter
Cpl Durstin Bow Ranger
Maya Sorcerer fireball autocannon
Castien Generalized utility wizard

Plus I've added a 7th player (egads)

Shera'Kahn Monk/Druid

I'm doing Rise of the Runelords as my second foray into GMing and am both excited and nervous to see how it pans out. The group of four have made it through the opening section, and I look forward to seeing the group dynamic grow as we progress. The nerves part comes from the potential of adding two more players for a total of six. My previous experience (Carrion Crown) is with 3 players.

Felwyn - Elf Wizard 1 (Plans to do an arcane archer) from Sandpoint.
Hilda - Halfling Rogue 1 from Sandpoint.
Vlad Grumskva - Dwarf Fighter 1. A monster hunter from outside Varisia.
Rajhanu - Vanara Monk 1 (Plans to go Zen Archer) from a nearby forest.

Two archers with the potential of one of the new folks picking up archery as well. It will definitely be fun to see how they do.

Well, starting my campaign, just got the characters built, although most still need names...

Human male paladin of Serene - His father died of smoke inhalation during the fire, and he wanted to learn to heal as well as fight

Gnome male trapbreaker saboteur alchemist - Currently suspended from his job at the quarry near Sandpoint for not following proper safety procedures before using mining charges.

Dhampier male oracle of bones - orphaned and raised at the temple after his priestess mom passed away in childbirth, having fled here after the vampire attack that resulted in his condition.

Kitsune female ninja- Works with Amiko, parents came to Sandpoint with the Kaijutsu family.

Shoantai female wolf totem druid - lead by a dream-quest to Sandpoint right before the swallowtail festival. Does not like half orcs.

half orc male sorcerer shadow bloodline - Fled here after a raid went bad.

half orc male titan mauler barbarian - also fled here after a raid went bad. Sincerely believes he is really a wizard, and will "cast spells" constantly (like grappling for hold person)

Hudak wrote:
My group is badass. It's a big Shoanti fighter, and a bunch of other guys.

You made me rofl >.<

So, I have:

1- Argos - Halfling Bard Sarenrae Dawnflower Dervish: Varisian, fond of arts ans history, arrived to Sandpoint 6 months ago, met a girl and decides to stay. This lady tought him the Dawnflower Dervish thingy and Sarenrae teachings, and he fell in love with her. They were both staying at The Pixie's kittens, until one day she left without notice. He stayed at the brothel, paying with performances, until the Swallowtail Festival.

2- Gimmistramo - Gnome Sorcerer Pyromaniac: member of the Pathfinder Society qith his druid girlfriend, the fact that he cheated his way into the Society haunts him, so he left Magnimar. The Festival sounded as good as anything else, so he went to Risa's place by recommendation.

3- Vinka - Half-orc cleric of Irori: borned of a human father (yes, I know), Vinka always had a rough time trying to find her place in this world. Until a monk of Irori, who lived in the Windsong Abbey found her, and through teachings and discipline showed her the value she had. Now, he sent her to meet Sabyl in the House of the Blue Stones, and Vinka has just arrived in the middle os the Swallowtail Festival.
(I'm pretty happy with this background, the player chose Irori, and the rest seemed to me that fit perfectly).

4- Brynjolf - Ulfen Human Barbarian Drunken-something-archetype: borned in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, he's trying to become a famous warrior by killing Varisian giants. He wants to return home as a proud warrior, to be able to find a suitable match -another warrior as brave and gay as himself.

Yes, I am aware that we do not have a tank. We'll see how this develops.

Sovereign Court

A little background my campaign is set in the Scarred Lands in the human kingdoms south of the blood bayou. I set Sandpoint on the sea far enough south where the water is more purple than red or blue. In my game the Runelords on Termanna were another cult started by the Sclarecians akin to the Penumbral Lords of Ghelspad.

In Glass and Wrath the group blew up the glassworks skipped the catacombs and pursued Tsuto (and Amekio) to Thistletop. After some negotiation and diplomacy with Gogmurt the group was snuck into the lower level without dealing with any goblins on Thistletop itself. Last game the group freed Doc, Amari and Ameiko from the prison and escaped out the Tentamont’s cliff. They plan to enter the catacombs (which Doc was able to provide a rough map of) and put an end to well monsters next Sun. The group is 25 pt buy and I may incorporate some Mythic rules.

Latheina – Female Charduni Inquisitor of Vangal (homebrew archetype) 2 with the catastrophe subdomain. She is described as looking like an obsidain dwarven version of Viper from doomsday. She is trying to put some distance between her and the land of chains after a mysterious incident involving an avalanche. Original Character

Sprillton – Male Half Elf haunted Eldritch Oracle (homebrew mystery based on Mesos) 2. He had traveled to Sandpoint to take a job at the glassworks and was working with the two spirit speaker gnomes on some interesting projects. Original Character

Wren – Male Teifling Ninja 2. Not much is known about Wren as the party only knew him for less than a week before he was juiced by the Tentamont . He was a prisoner of two Charduni bounty hunters on the trail of Latheina . After their violet bloody demise he decided to help Sprilton and Latheina rescue Ameiko from the glassworks. (Deceased)

Dr. Merriwether Murkwright- Male Human Alchemist 2. Doc left his home of the blood bayou after he accidently blew up one of the Carnival Krewe’s seasoning pits. He traveled almost nonstop until arriving at Sandpoint and instantly becoming involved with Tsuto who introduced him to Erylium so he could set up a lab I the catacombs of wrath to create an alchemical concoction to aid with Naulia’s conversion by Gormoth. Once his creation was ready he traveled to Thistletop and met Naulia which he immediately tried to kill with the potion he had been working on for a month. He woke up in a cell in Thistletop unsure of many of his actions and choices since his accident in the bayou to his unprovoked attack with a weapon that he built secretly even from himself. (Player of Wren)

Amari Deschain- Female Aasamir (Plumekith)Monk (Dawn Spear adept homebrew archetype)2. Amari grew up in a Madrielite orphanage in the replacement city for Magnimar. In many ways her childhood was similar to Nualia’s she was always different and looked at by others as someone who could help them in some way. Her reaction to this attention was different in that she embraced the idea that she could be someone special who helped others. She was going to Sandpoint in order to attend the skyquill festival and possibly work at the new temple. Tsuto met Amari before she set out and arranged to ambush her before she could arrive in Sandpoint. She has been imprisoned at Thistletop ever since and has been bled daily by Brthazmus to help speed Naulia’s conversion.

We all died in Thistletop, now we've got...

Tiefling Fighter with a head fetish (don't ask)
Ifrit Dervish Bard of the plunging neckline
Aasimar Life Oracle, the walking health kit
Halfling Druid/Rogue mounted on a wolf, feinty-stabby
Human Arcane Bloodline Sorcerer Invested in a 3rd lvl wand of magic missles and hasn't regretted it yet.

Had better luck with Thistletop than the previous Heroes of Sandpoint TM.

Well let's see.

Origins, and The Story So Far:
We started as two separate groups running it simultaneously; a few players from each group left, and since each group had made about the same amount of progress, we merged groups/canon around the Glassworks.

We had:

TWF Ranger
Transmuter (Wiz)
Inquisitor of Abadar
Tiefling Magus
Cleric
Archer (Fighter)

--The Ranger and Cleric each bit it at Thistletop; Ranger replaced w/ Druid and Cleric replaced with Shoanti Barbarian.
--We SOMEHOW made it all the way through Skinsaw without Pett murdering anyone (we lost half the party to his last book, Trial of the Beast).
--Barbarian and Druid leave party at the climatic end of Hook Mtn Massacre. Archer and Magus leave for summer vacation,
--Bring in Hobgoblin Barbarian and Holy Vindicator/Cleric. Bring back Archer/Magus for the end of Fortress of the Stone Giants. So we have 2 characters (Transmuter/Inquis) who have been through every step of the adventure, and two who have been present for all but part of the fourth book (Archer/Magus).

So, starting Sins of the Saviors soon, and here's the party as it stands:

Transmuter
Inquisitor of Abadar
Tiefling Magus
Archer
Hobgoblin Barbarian
Holy Vindicator

Half orc barbarian male, so far typical front line fighter type though in the first few fights I think he has hit a grand total of once, maybe twice.

Gnome witch female, healing hex has come in nice.

Fetchling slayer male, caught the eye of the sheriff in a festival game though he's thinking it's for all the wrong reasons.

Aasimar paladin male, using an archetype that makes him even closer to celestial beings though I can't remember the name. Became Foxglove's obsession.

Half elf cleric of Sarenrae, was very broken hearted to find out the bombs on the goblin alchemist wouldn't work for him.

Halfling cavalier male, beast rider archetype and one other, some kind of diplomatic thing. Rides about on a wolf and kicks more than a little ass so far.

Human magus, strength based wielding a dwarven war axe one handed.

Human arcane bloodline sorcerer, trying to keep the others safe, one acid splash at a time...

yep...eight bloody players, and a waiting list of other people interested...first person that asks about leadership or mutliclassing into druid/summoner is getting shanked...

Doric, Isgeri Fighter with a mounted combat focus, kind of the Lawful Good party leader and Tactician (re: cat herder)

Trig, the Elven Bard and party face, with Chaotic Neutral tendencies

Sandy Longfoot, Varisian Rogue with abilities focused on 18 strength and 16 dex rather than Charisma (kind of a different way of looking at the rogue)

Malkia, Gebbite sorceress of the undead bloodline, who has stayed really true to taking and using only spells in the Necromancy school, but isn't really evil, just has the taint of evil in her blood.

We used to have Thales, a Wizard from Cheliax with a water elementalist focus, but Nualia cut his head off at the end of Burnt Offerings, sooooo.... not sure what that player is bringing to the next session.

Connor, Half-elf Rogue who took Drow-blood trait, total wild card in social interactions, adoptee that grew up in Sandpoint
Caleb Deverin (nephew of Kendra), human ranger, two-weapon skirmisher archetype, good battle tactician
Tessa, sylph alchemist, working toward the Varisian Tattoo prestige class
Laranys, cleric of Sarenrae, fairly focused on healing, but has had a few key shots with her crossbow
Qakisst, Ifrit sorcerer elemental (fire) bloodline. Slowly evolving into the party face (but with no real skills to back it up). Extensive backstory that made his adopted Varisian mother one of the Chopper's victims

About to storm Thistletop, we'll see how they do...

Khiros Elven Ranger
Maelic White Lion (companion)
1/2 Elven Monk
Changling Witch
Owl (familiar) armed with wand of CLW and hides well.
Kitsune Sorceress

All travelers that stopped by to enjoy the fair. Stupid goblins.

Just finished Nuala's part and started on book two. I hate Yeth Hounds.

Gaven Our heart, Paladin of Iomadae
Gordon Our Joker, Human Pistolero
Shamarca Our Brawn, Half-Orc Shoanti Barbarian
Katerina Our Pride, Aldori Duelist
Saelon Our Brains, Elven Wizard
Martini Our Voice, Chelish Bard
Odazak Our Enigma, Blade Bound Magus

It's a BIG party, but we have a blast playing. We have a novice DM, but he puts on a hell of a stage show! :D

Our party consists of only two.

A drow noble monk
An Azlanti wizard (diviner)

We're starting at level two. The monk is the one drow that does not want to be evil like all the rest of his race. The Azlanti was recently restored from stone to flesh in the darklands by drow. He then became a slave of the drow monk. Since their emergence to the surface he has learned how to be a merchant in Magnimar. He traveled to Sandpoint to open up his own book shop.

We have a very Offensive-bent party:

Szarali (me)- Female Tiefling Slayer. Raised by loving adoptive parents on the outer edges of Cheliax. Bubbly and Naïve, she stowed away aboard a ship bound for Sandpoint to find adventure!

Zirul - Male Half Elf Ranger. An archer who came to enjoy the fair, has a secret love of brew that he shares with:

Grunyar - Male Dwarf Barbarian. Tossed out of the Pixie's Kitten when he refused to put away his axe, he is delighted to have the opportunity to add to his goblin head collection.

Gene - Male Human Gun/Spellslinger. He won the target shooting contest at the fair (set up in our game to dunk poor Shalelu) but ended up blowing the entire stall down in the process.

Hopefully we can down our foes before they down us, at which point the ranger can bust out his wand of Cure Light Wounds to keep us alive :)

Haven't started yet...will start on the Jan 2nd.

Human male ranger - Family's from Magnimar, ties to Sandpoint via trips as a caravan guard through the region. He recently retired from being a guard/scout and is in Sandpoint to take advantage of some goblin bounties and other opportunities.

Half-orc male barbarian - short tempered, half Shaonti barbarian who has little knowledge of their customs after being raised by his mother who ran away rather than kill the child. In Sandpoint randomly after being told that he needed to go to the coast in order to test his mettle (needless to say not that bright as he proceeded to trek straight west across Varisia for several hundred miles after being told that by a complete stranger).

Gnome female bard - former court bard in training from Korvosa who has slowly traveled up the coast. She's in town specifically to take part in the revelry of the festival.

Dwarf male wizard - Background still in flux, recently finished training at the Universalist school in Galduria. Most likely there in Sandpoint to study the Old Light.

Unknown fifth character...leaning toward alchemist so I'm told. Bit worried about their lack of healing in combat...but oh well. This is what happens with a gaming group of 30-40 year olds who grew up hating playing the walking healing potion/cleric type in old school D&D.

We've had a lot of fun so far, though there has been a death. Coming to the close of the Skinsaw Murders.

Female human ranger-- an orphan from a farming family who lost them to goblins. Raised in the Turandarok Academy, but started spending much of her time in the bush after she reached adulthood. Died fighting an Advanced Huecuva version of a certain hard-to-like town noble.

Male dwarf fighter-- new to Sandpoint, a smith whose good heart has brought him the admiration of most, the love of a widow, and the obsession of the Skinsaw Man. Found faith and picked up some levels in cleric.

Male kitsune rogue-- adopted by the Kaijitsu (very grudgingly on Lonjiku's part, but enthusiastically by Atsuii) after he was found in the streets of Magnimar. After his mother's death, raised largely by his sister at the Rusty Dragon. Took interest in magic and picked up some levels in wizard.

Male human sorcerer-- the middle child of the Vinder family, going to school in Magnimar. The pride of his father, and protective of his sisters. Has left the party to take care of his family, owing to the tragedies and strain associated with recent events.

Male human ranger-- replacing the lady who died, above. The son of the town sheriff and his... ahem... romantic interest. A town guardsman who pursues Arika despite the disapproval of her mother.

Male half-orc barbarian-- replacing the sorcerer for a few levels. Gorvi's younger brother, raised in Magnimar in the temple of Pharasma. Trying to investigate the death of his brother, and the crimes that he might have been committing.

Liberty's Edge

Drogar Grimgut
-LN Dwarf Wizard (Earth Specialist); his love of gems, gold, and treasure knows NO limit. He oft charges into combat with his mighty hammer and smites his foe with spell and arms alike.

Ilsevele Amcathra
-LN Half-Elf Rogue (Investigator); a "Justicar of Magnimar". She's been assigned by Justice Ironbriar to investigate the goblin issues surrounding Sandpoint.

Dache Cole
-CG Human Fighter; growing up he was a womanizer and had his hands in many shady dealings, some of which have returned. With sword and shield he stands firmly beside his companions.

Vass V'alah
-NG Human Ranger; a Keleshite archer far from her home. She has bonded closely with her companions and says little. Like…really, she rarely talks.

Bindle Bogfoot
-NG Halfling Cleric of Plogg (Halfling Deity of Mediocrity); Bindle is just, well, awesome. We modded "Brew Potion" and he instead creates cooked items like "Benediction Bon Bons", "Happy Healing Ho-Ho's", and "Hacky Taffy". Bindle doesn't wear armor, carries no weapons, and uses his spells and abilities to invoke the "Meh" light of Plogg on his allies and enemies.

Just finishing the Skinsaw Murders.

My group at the minute (sadly, I don't have the character names on my at the moment):

Half Orc Barbarian - crazy combat stats, so far the only character to have been successfully Bull-rushed by a goblin.

Human Universalist Wizard - almost unbelievably lazy, if he can use a spell to do something for him (e.g. Mage Hand to cut up his steak) he will. Cannot hit a target with a spell to save his life.

Elven Paladin - the Paragon of goody do-gooders everywhere! Will not stoop to the temptation of drink or gambling, always put others before himself and has a mild aversion to riding.

Human Rogue - not yet entered into the game due to real life commitments

Dennis the Dwarven Ranger - self-titled sex pest. Tailored himself a pair of "assless chaps" and repeatedly hits on anything with a pulse. Very good shot with a crossbow. Does not get on with the group's Paladin.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I am running RotR with an online group...the largest group I have ever GMed. I am amazed at the turnout and enthusiasm the group has put forth so far. Their depth of character is astounding.

Cassandra (female human oracle) - Very shy and reserved, has serious doubts about being thrown into the "adventuring" lifestyle. Her minor healing magics have proven to be a help to the party, as have her scholarly abilities.

Illian (male halfling fighter) - Illian was an adventurer for many years, but has practically bankrupted himself trying to break a wasting curse that has been slowly killing him. As a result of the curse, he has become easily fatigued and requires frequent rest. He has sworn an oath to Dothan's mother that he will not let any harm to come to her as she seeks her life of adventure. He is still trying to find a cure and avoid the minions of the villain who cursed him.

Dothan (female half-orc bard) - Only 15 years old, Dothan is a bundle of excitement and energy. Dothan is different from most half-orcs in that she was raised by both of her parents in a truly loving atmosphere. As such, many of the more ferocious traits present in half-orcs are absent (many alternate racial features were taken). She has developed a close relationship with Kailana, and is almost always under the watchful eye of "Uncle Illian".

Kailana (female half-elf rogue) - A teen with a troubled past from Riddleport, Kailana has taken to calling Dothan her younger sister. She has also displayed some potential for arcane magic (the player plans on multiclassing into sorcerer). Her recent crush on Eldthor has started to manifest, though he seems oblivious.

Eldthor (male human ranger) - Eldthor is somewhat of a mystery. He has not revealed much of his family life to anyone. He works as a guide through the civilized portions of Varisia, and known Kailiana from her earlier days in Riddleport.

Dwyn (female human fighter) - A local of Sandpoint, Dwyn works for her second-aunt Alma Avertin at Sandpoint Savories. In battle, she wields a scythe to devastating effect.

Nellah (female human alchemist) - Another local, Nellah is daughter of Nisk Tander (Bottled Solutions). Except, her concoctions always seem to work. She might be something of a pyromaniac, though that still needs to be determined.

Dorrac (male dwarf barbarian) - Dorrac is a middle-aged dwarf who never planned on adventuring. After his peaceful surface village was destroyed by giants and his wife and children slain, Dorrac became driven by vengeance and grief. He has also become something of an alcoholic (and, unknown to the rest of the group, prone to hallucinations).

Garidan (male human witch) - A newcomer to the party, Garidan hails from the frozen North. Coming to Sandpoint to study Thassilonian ruins, he happened upon a wounded Shalelu Andosana. After healing, the two traveled to Sandpoint to alert them of the goblin threat.

WE are slowly working through RoTRL. This is my first time as DM and I have a group of 6 - all new to PF and 3 new to RPG. Many chose to use iconics to get them started but I am encouraging them to make the characters their own.

So here goes:

Aerick - Druid
Derum - Monk/Cleric
Dirul - Gunslinger

Thene there's Ezren (!), Merisiel (!) and Valeros (!)

If any pro. GM were to watch any of our sessions they'd see me floundering, fudging, and fouling up the rules (but we're all having fun!)

Cheers.

Having fun is the important thing.

Sometimes I think people forget that. ^^;;

My RotRL group looks a little something like this:

Jacintha(Jac)- F halfling rouge, agent of the Bellflower Network in Magnimar. Went to Sandpoint to lay low after her identity was compromised following an a recent mission. She is currently in town during the Swallowtail Festival.

Naz- F gnome druid from Whistledown. After being proposed to by her boyfriend, she was afraid of settling down and suffering from the bleaching and tookoff without a word. She began traveling through Varisia, eventually finds herself in Sandpoint during the Swallowtail festival.

Zardon- M elf fire elemental sorcerer, searching for his brother who, he had a somewhat unfriendly rivalry with growing up. His brother, a very studious wizard who resented the fact that Zardon's magical abilities and talents came to him so easily left his home to learn ancient secrets of rune magic in an attempt to one up his obnoxious, care-free brother once and for all. He has not been heard from in months and Zardon has been investigating various experts in Thassolionian lore trying to learn what happened to him. His search has currently brought him to Brodert Quink in Sandpoint right around the time of the Swallowtail festival.

Twang- M Dwarf Ranger (Deep Walker) from Janderhoff. He has been scouring Varisa for a Sczarni con man who passed through the town and scammed his father, a local merchant out of an axe which is a priceless family heirloom. Currently in Sandpoint right around the time of the Swallowtail festival.

Khan- F human Bard from Korvosa, a performer in the King Eodred's court until a pretty young thing from Cheliax named Ileosa came along and caught the King's attention and fired most of the King's more attractive female staff so she could have him all to herself. Khan decided to head out of Korvosa and see as much of Varisia as she could to tell the greatest story of all time. She eventually came to Sandpoint just after the events of BO, and decided to stick with a group of adventurers who recently fought off a goblin raid on the town, uncovered a greater conspiracy to destroy the town. It doesn't get more exciting than that!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Finally got my RotRL game started after one of the players came back from a long Christmas vacation. Here's the group I'm running it for:

Gliviel - Player declined sharing a last name. A LG female elf Greatsword Weapon Master Fighter. Born in Crying Leaf, but shortly into young adulthood she grew weary of her elven kin's more stereotypical traits and left to find a place in the world that wasn't mired in elven tradition. She took on with one of the caravans in Varisia and learned to use greatswords. Eventually, the caravan mostly disbanded and she found herself in Sandpoint, where she became a part of the town guard for a while. After the Chopper's murdering spree and the death of her friend Casp Avertin, she quit the watch in order to find more productive ways to grow as a warrior.

Norrel - A CG male catfolk Carnivalist Rogue. He was abandoned as a baby via mysterious circumstances and found by a traveling troupe. He grew up in the circus and was raised by one of the halfling families. He has no knowledge of his family and thus, no real knowledge of his catfolk heritage. He felt the call for adventure as soon as he came of age and his parents let him go on one condition - the he take and pass out fliers for the circus so that his home was never too far from reach.

Paeryn Briskaldar - NG female dwarf Cleric of Pharasma. Trained as a midwife in Janderhoff. Became demoralized after the death of her husband and left. She has found herself falling out of touch with her goddess and is looking to reaffirm her faith. She wandered until she saw a whippoorwill seem to direct her toward a specific person. She took this as a sign to protect that person, and she travels with them until another whippoorwill appears and links her to a new person. The last whippoorwill led her to the side of Gliviel, the elf resident of Sandpoint.

Wisp - Using a taken name. A CN female gnome feyblooded Tattooed Sorcerer. Grew up in Urglin under the watch of foster parents. Her brother died in a goblin attack and her father scolded her for not being his "real" daughter. These events sort of drained her willpower and she spent the next several years in a self-destructive spiral. She began feeling the beginning effects of the Bleaching, but happened upon a Sorcerer who managed to bring out her natural talent. They traveled together for a while and the man renewed her vigor for life. She decided to try to learn about who her real parents were and what her past really was. With a new purpose, she finds herself in Sandpoint, directed to one of the local residents there, hoping they have the first real stepping stone to answering her questions.

Good for you if you actually read all that. Figured if I was going to share, I may as well try to give all the information I can.

My group has been playing for about 6 months and we are currently in Hook Mountain Massacre,
The characters are;
Devonian-LG male half elf sorcerer with the infernal bloodline
Lagertha- LN female human fighter princess
Jess- CG female half elf Rogue from kaer-maga
Minori- LG-Female kitsune Oracle

Tiberius Fulvious Marula, Paladin of Iomedae (me)
Deagal halfling bard/rogue
Ziggs Pyrolust gnome alchemist
Elven cleric who's name I don't have written down and escapes me at the moment
Eridani - Elf Conjurer
And a fighter replacing the dwarf rogue that bit the big one that doesn't want a rezz but a new character next game

We just finished clearing the fort in the mountains taken over by the ogres and the lamia.

We only got to play this adventure once every 6-7 weeks but each go was a marathon. My buddy the DM has less and less time so looks like this group won't be moving on for a while.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

My party has just entered Karzoug's throne room. The final battle takes place this weekend.

Gorek - Dwarven Ranger/Fighter/Skyseeker
His village named Barrenhoff was destroyed by giants. He excels at killing giants with his twin dorn-dergars. Overthrew the leadership of Janderhoff, renaming it New Barrenhoff. Gorek is now the Master of Fort Rannick and ruler of New Barrenhoff. He recently ripped out his left eye and swore by his ancestors that he would stop Karzoug.
Zyle - Human Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple
Power-hungry draconic sorcerer, who has a desperate need to become a dragon. Slowly gained draconic powers by ripping scales from dragons he defeated. Recently turned to evil, as Tiamat convinced him to crush newborn dragons beneath his feet. In exchange, Tiamat gave him his promised permanent dragon form (though he just found out it's merely an illusion).
Caladrel - Elven Fighter/Wizard/Arcane Archer
A snarky sarcastic elf archer with extreme envy issues. He was possessed by Karzoug for a month, and took a new interest in magic. Nobody in the party realized thought it was odd. Finally Karzoug was expelled, and Caladrel decided to become an arcane archer. A fialed weapon creation attempt with the Anathema Archive split his soul in two, and now an evil shadow of Caladrel stalks the party, attacking them at the worst moments.
Octavia - Human Paladin
A female paladin of Shelyn, wielding a glaive and longbow with equal skill. She is always careful to respect all life and show mercy when possible. Recently lost her divine powers when she helped Zyle summon an evil demon. Atoning for this, she is now resolved to stop Zyle's evil, once the greater threat of Karzoug's return is defeated.
Keliarna(deceased) - Human Rogue
Brave human rogue, viciously ripped apart by Malfeshnikor. Her soul was siphoned to Karzoug's runewell. The party hoped to free her soul. (The player of Keliarna switched to Octavia after this)
Vale(deceased) - Human Ranger/Fighter
Vale Temros, Black Arrow and faithful companion to Gorek, died bravely slaying the Scribbler.
Perrine - Eagle
Zyle's trusty eagle companion. Zyle saved this eagle from the attack on Fort Rannick. The eagle has kept his distance since Zyle turned into a dragon.
Anika - Dwarven Cleric
A stalwart dwarven cleric of Torag, Anika has little patience for games or distractions. As Gorek's companion, she represents the Palgreeve clan in this quest. She bravely follows Gorek into terrifying situations, never backing down. Insulting the elf Caladrel is one of her few hobbies.

currently near the end of Ch. 3

Elf Teleportation Subschool Wizard (me)
Drow Archer Ranger
Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae
Halfing Cavalier of the Order of the Dragon w/ Riding Dog mount
Human Paladin
Human Investigator

Started with:
Half Orc Barbarian (Invulnerable rager)
Halfling Bard (Thundercaller)
Half Orc Oracle - died to Erylium in Thissletop
Human fighter/wizard - died to crab in Thisletop trying to compete with the barbarian
Human Inquisitor - Died to Skinsaw man

Current party in book 4:
Half Orc Barbarian (Invulnerable rager)
Halfling Bard (Thundercaller)
Human Witch
Gnome Cleric of Serenre
Half-Elf Fighter

My group's changed a wee bit since I first reported them (we gained a player) - I don't think I listed it here, so here's the group now at level 8, and one Tier of Mythic.

Half Orc Barbarian (with the Thassilonian Scholar trait)/Champion 1
Halfling Bard 1/Cleric 7/Hierophant 1
Human (Chelix) Ranger 2/Transmuter Wizard 5/Eldritch Knight 1/Archmage 1
Human (Irrisen) Sorceress 8/Archmage-Marshal 1
NPC Sylph Rogue 4/Air Wizard 3/Arcane Trickster 1/Trickster 1

and two Cohorts
(Cleric's) - Paladin 6
(Sorceress's) - Ninja 6

Here's my group, as it was in the beginning and now updated at the end of Burnt Offerings:

Original Party:

Thomar - CG Half-elf Cleric of Sarenrae (Glory/Fire, with Honor/Smoke subdomains) 1
Aquilus - LG Human Paladin of Iomedae 1
Gigi - CG Gnome Aberrant Bloodline Sorceror 1 (retired)
Jarek - CN Half-elf Elemental Witch 1 (died at the hands of the Thistletop tribe)

As of the end of Burnt Offerings:

Thomar - CG Half-elf Cleric of Sarenrae 5
Aquilus - LG Human Paladin of Iomedae 5
Malepidus - CN Elf Rogue 2/Wiz 3 (working towards Arcane Trickster)
Varek - CN Half-elf Barbarian 5 (working towards Rage Prophet)

Yes, Jarek and Varek are characters for the same player... he is admittedly not very creative.

We lost Gigi because the party found the character annoying and the player found the character's voice annoying and painful (he was doing this really awful falsetto voice) and Gigi just wasn't very useful or good at doing anything except screwing things up. So, his player retired him (after I tried to kill him several times at the request of the player, while the rest of the party did the "right thing" and kept saving him) and replaced him. I intend on bringing him back as an NPC at some point, I just haven't figured out how to work in a particularly annoying gnome who isn't much good for combat yet. Maybe I'll do something with him at Hook Mountain... make him victim to ogre abuse or something... though, that might be TOO much...

Jarek... he wasn't very happy with his lot in life, having not much usefulness except the Slumber hex, which became boring and repetitive. The player felt bored and useless during combat and so he was disemboweled by the Thistletop goblins and his entrails worn as goblin jewelry. Varek came in just as this was happening and helped the party clean up the mess.
