Now that I’ve had a chance to read through it, and since I don’t think it’s been stated anywhere, I figured I’d let people know: this is mostly a megadungeon!
I've mentioned that several times in streams and other places, but I suppose it's worth restating. Yeah, the focus of this adventure is a big dungeon. Structurally, it's similar to Abomination Valuts, but on a smaller scale, and with a lot more back-and-forth and in-town encounters going on than Abomination Vaults had.

I'm confused. If this is the only one, then how is this an adventure path rather than a stand alone adventure?
Because it covers a wider range of levels of play (start at 4th, end at 12th) than most stand-alone adventures (a range almost the same as what you'd get in a standard 3 part Adventure Path), but mostly because we wanted volume 200 to be a big special deal rather than publish it as 3 different volumes.
A module WOULD have support articles, but to date, we've not done a stand-alone adventure in the module line that's 200 pages long. (Emerald Spire being an outlier case that doesn't fit into either category.)

Thanks for the explanation. Not knowing where to file it on my hard drive was really setting off my inner Monk.

It should be filed in the same place you file your Adventure Paths, between #199 and #201. I've already got physical copies on my shelf, and while the hardcover one has its own setup, the softcover one fits right in with the other softcover Adventure Paths.

Any related back products that i should check out to round out the sandpoint experience for my players?
Sandpoint: LIght of the Lost Coast will be the most useful book to expand upon Sandpoint if your players want to explore the town beyond what's covered in the adventure.

I personally found “Burnt Offerings” to be good. Comparing the 3 gazetteers was fascinating, and of course being as familiar as possible with the events of Burnt Offerings helps round out the RP of the first few sections.

I’m in California, so my lead time is shorter, but I’ve already received my physical copy.
I’d give it another week if I were you, but then I would advise you to reach out to the CS team via their ticket system. It could still be the normal shipping process at this point, but by then something might genuinely be off.
Another possibility is that it hit your junk folder. That happened to me at least once. Easiest way to check would be to see if the downloads are available on your account.
Ed Reppert |
My shipment (part 2 of 2, actually) arrived yesterday. The tracking data still says "no information available". Paizo, don't give me useless "tracking data" please.
@Darrel Impey UK: check your order history. If your order is "pending" they haven't shipped it yet. And yeah, if it's shipped (and you get pdfs via your subscription) then the pdf should be in your digital content.
H2Osw |
I’m in Aus, mine shipped yesterday but I opted for the hardcover swap over, the pdf didn’t generate with the completed order so I’ve had to reach out to CS for that
I hope they get back to you soon. I'm still waiting for CS to get back to me about that as well. I sent them an email on 3/13 and haven't heard anything.

The pdf of the whole softcover has the map of Sandpoint as the inside front and inside back covers, without the Sandpoint Hinterlands, though that map is present in the physical book. (And the multiple pdfs zip.)
Ed Reppert |
Hm. I didn't look at the multiple pdfs zip (I'm not actually sure I have that).
I posted this answer to logic_poet on the March subs thread but I figured it should go here too:
I suspect the lack of the hinterlands map in the pdf was an oopsie. The HC has a picture of the town inside both front and back covers and a separate four-fold map (so about 16 by 22, I think) of the town on one side and the hinterlands on the other.
I haven't looked yet, and might miss any when I do, so are there any significant changes to either map from the one in Sandpoint, Light Of The Lost Coast?
Ed Reppert |
Still not sure what "multiple pdfs zip" you mean. I got two zip files with this: the usual "one file per chapter" and "single file". The latter actually contains two pdfs, one for the adventure and one "interactive maps", which does have the hinterlands map. The "one file per chapter" zip (is that the one you mean?) has a file called "SC 000 Cover.pdf" which has the inside and outside front and back covers, and the inside back cover shows the Hinterlands map.

What happens if the devil Sandpoint has already been defeated in the past?
The assumption is that the Sandpoint Devil hasn't been defeated.
As with all adventures that build upon previous adventures, each individual GM will need to make a decision if they want to run this one as part of an established table-canon, in which the fates of previous unique NPCs and monsters and locations might be different than the assumptions we make for the baseline game. Since we've never published an adventure in which the PCs actually encounter the Sandpoint Devil, the assumption we make is that it's never been encountered. Obviously that's not going to be correct for every table's established canon.
In cases like this, the GM gets to make some decisions. The previously assumed-to-be-dead creature or NPC might have somehow miraculously survived (this works well if the previous death happened in an obscure way). The previously assumed-to-be-dead creature or NPC might have been brought back to life in some way. Or the role of that creature or NPC in your version of the adventure might be replaced by something similar in power... or could even be simply absent from your adventure entirely.
In the case of the Sandpoint Devil or any other NPC or element in this adventure, if you're a GM who is looking for advice from me on how to integrate your previous campaign's canon into this adventure where the story diverges like this, feel free to start up a thread here to talk about it. Use spoilers! I'm hesitant to get into more details here since this is the main product page, after all.

What happens if the devil Sandpoint has already been defeated in the past?
If you are playing this with the same players that killed the Sandpoint Devil in a past game, you can potentially use The Spectral Devil from Monsters of Myth. It is the ghost of the Sandpoint Devil. You might need to adjust The Spectral Devil's level and stats depending on where in the adventure The Sandpoint Devil was supposed to show up and be defeated.

Let's just say this...

Hi! I bought this on Pathfinder Nexus but I don't seem to be able to download the PDF from the Paizo website. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes, for this and the Monster CoreI opened a ticket with Demiplane and they advised that they were “currently waiting for Paizo to make those products available for the Paizo Connect feature on their side”.
Hopefully the issue gets sorted soon.

Does this not have the automatic pdf that you get with subscriptions.
I’ve received the shipping note for this and monster core but only monster core is available as a download.

Have you switched to hardcover? There have been a lot of people that didn't automatically get their PDFs when swapping to the hardcover.
Either way, email customer service or use this new customer service portalAnorak |

Hey James,
Just skimmed through Seven Dooms yesterday and wow, it really took me back to the Rise of the Runelords days. It's got that classic vibe that made adventuring along the Lost Coast so much fun back then. Thanks for sharing your campaign with us!

I have always thought that the Sandpoint Devil is the name of a race, just like bearded devils, horned devils, and sea devils. Is the Sandpoint Devil the name of a specific creature, and not the name of a race? In other words, is there no baby Sandpoint Devil at all?
Also I recently discovered that the alignment of the Sandpoint Devil is neutral evil. Then why does people of Sandpoint call it the Sandpoint Devil, instead of the Sandpoint Daemon? Well, considering Saul Vancaskerkin and all those who have participated in the Cheat the Devil and Take his Gold tournament in Shadow in the Sky didn't realize that succubi are actually demons rather than devils and would be considered mortal enemies of the latter, perhaps normal humans on Golarion have no knowledge or interest in the finer distinctions of the Lower Planes. Thus it would not be unlikely for the people of Sandpoint not being able to properly distinguish devils from daemons. Sigh. If the Sandpoint Devil lived near a developed city like Magnimar or Absalom, then perhaps it got a proper and correct name. :)

As Ed pointed out, the Sandpoint Devil was inspired by a real-world cryptozoological myth, the Jersey Devil. It was never and has never been a group of things, but a unique creature, ever since the very first Pathfinder Adventure Path volume where we first created it. We used the word "devil" because that word is descriptive and evocative, in the same way "giant" is when applied to a giant ant; calling it a giant ant doesn't mean it's a Large or larger humanoid shape ant that throws rocks.
Not everyone in-world knows the subtle difference between what is a demon or devil or daemon. And the Sandpoint Devil, while a fiend, is not technically ANY of those things.
Context is important.

Mind sharing what the development was or is it something we already know? (Ie she is appearing in an upcoming AP?)
