Also, is there anything written in for those who would prefer to start the AP at level 1? Or do you have any recommendations?
Not so much in the adventure. A little more in the Player's Guide. My four recommendations are:
2) Convert "Burnt Offerings" (the 1st adventure from Rise of the Runelords), and then have the PCs take 17 years off after they finish that adventure to live in Sandpoint as citizens, before continuing with "Seven Dooms for Sandpoint."
3) Use the many adventure hooks I included in the softcover book, "Sandpoint: Light of the Lost Coast" to run a sandbox campaign for the PCs in their first 3 levels, using the information in that book as a guide for creating your adventures. In fact, most of the plot of "Seven Dooms for Sandpoint" are from various adventure hooks for 4th to 11th level PCs I first mentioned in that softcover book years ago. (Once upon a time, there was a plan to do a 320-page or so hardcover that would have more or less combined what's in that book with Seven Dooms.)
4) The GM makes their own adventure from scratch.

I wouldn't exactly leave them exposed to the sun and flopped open-cover on the floor, but so long as you keep them on a shelf in reasonable condition, they should endure just fine. I've got a classic 80s-era BTech Technical Readout that looks like it came fresh off the printer, despite being 35 years old.
Anyway, Seven Dooms, woo! I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this one. Six months!
I'm still splurging on the hardcover edition. I know paperback is an option but I really just WANT the hardcover; I feel like hardcovers are classy AF.

I'm torn. On one hand, one hardcover would look weird among all the softcover... and I would have a "hole" in them... On the other hand, that book definitely is worthy of a hardcover and I would feel like missing out if I didn't take it... >_>

I do hope for a Shalelu or Shroud cameo; it would be nice to see how they have evolved over 17 years (especially for the art) *fingers crossed*
From the office of expectation management:
Shroud has a TINY role... I would have loved to have them be in a bigger role but their involvement was one of many that ended up getting trimmed from the plot for space concerns. Even at 200 pages, I had trouble fitting all the stuff in! No art of Shroud, but there's a bit where if the GM wants to do more with their story they can build off of a small little hook I built into the adventure.

Who is Shroud, and where can I find references to this character?
Shroud is detailed more in the Sandpoint: Light of the Lost Coast book I wrote, and is one of my more favorite character evolutions from someone in Burnt Offerings that was a pretty cliched character at that point. Was fun to give them a much more interesting storyline that built off of what they did in Burnt Offerings in a logical and interesting way.
AKA: You can never tell which characters you put into a story as a minor, throw-away character who doesn't have much to do might turn into someone completely unexpected down the road. Those characters tend to be among my favorites.

Hm. The wiki describes Shroud as a Vigilante. Presumably this is the first edition character class. In second edition, Vigilante is an archetype. Okay, fair enough, but... What should Shroud's base class be?

2nd edition NPCs don't follow PC rules and don't have classes in the same way PCs do. Hope that helps!

You left out the word "necessarily" after "NPCs". And no, it doesn't help. Can you build Shroud in 2nd edition? That's not a rhetorical or general question, it's a challenge. If you choose to meet it, please post your build here. :-)

Hey James, would you recommend this adventure to a group of entirely new players with no prior familiarity with the setting? I’m thinking of running them through Rusthenge and following it up with this since Varisia is pretty classic Pathfinder, but I’m not sure if all the references to past events will be lost on them and make the adventure feel less meaningful.

You absolutely can, but in 2nd edition, we ALWAYS build NPCs as NPCs. The only time we'd build a print character using PC rules is if they're intended to be pregenerated characters, and that's not a role Shroud should fill.
So, if I were to build their stats, I'd use the monster/NPC rules to build them, and would take advantage of that to give them a few fun bespoke abilities to support their story that no one else has.
If you wanted to build them as a PC, I would say go with rogue as a base class and then get the vigilante archetype rolling. But I wouldn't do this in any official print product, because they're not a PC; they're an NPC.

I would. It's self-contained and doesn't requrie the GM or the PCs to understand EVERYTHING in the setting. Like the original "Burnt Offerings," it's small in scope in a geographical and political and social scale, which makes it a lot eaiser for new folks to understand. They don't need to know every option from day one.

If it helps, paperbacks tend to shed pages once they're bigger than a certain size, while hardcovers, since they're sewn and not just glued, are more durable.

More trouble in Sandpoint, AGAIN?
Are we sure it's not Velmarius? He's always up to something.....
Even though her name is written in the style of a man's name in Latin, Belimarius appears to in fact be a woman (she/her pronouns are used throughout).

Just a name mixup.
Belmarius is the runelord of envy, and is a woman. And a troublemaker.
Velmarius is Jason Bulmahn's character from my Shadow Under Sandpoint campaign, and is a man. And a troublemaker.

Velmarius was Jason Bulmahn's character in the Paizo office game called Shadow Under Sandpoint. Sir Talbot kept a journal of the campaign, and it's a really entertaining read! I don't know if it would spoil Seven Dooms to read through it, but here's the link in case anyone's interested:
Edit: Ninja'd! I'll leave the post up though to link to the campaign journal.

So I was wondering if there is any information regarding themes and genres of this AP? In a lot of other AP descriptions we get some info regarding the general premise of the adventure is, but it seems like this one is focusing more on the context of the adventure (200th AP and such).
My players and I are already planning to play this, but then we only wanted to know if there is any other info before the players guide about themes and genres (Like, is this going to be Horror like Season of Ghosts, Dungeoncrawl like Abomination Vaults, Planehopping like Gatewalkers, City focused like Agents of Edgewatch, etc')

This one's a pretty classic adventure—since you mention "dungeoncrawl" as a theme, that's probably the closest analogy, but unlike Abomination Vaults, the dungeon in this one is overall smaller, with more time and events taking place in areas outside of the dungeon as the PCs explore other sites, interact with characters in Sandpoint, and so on. Since I wrote it there will be some horror themes in there (I can't not include my favorite genre), but it's not the main goal of the Adventure Path.

Are there plans for a Foundry module release for this? And if so, how are you going to get over the fact that they are not supporting the old ruleset if it's designed with OGL in mind?
Same question for me. At least the first part. As a foundry user who runs a PFS/SFS discord server themed around Sandpoint I would love to give away copies of this as a foundry module during my event in June as a prize as well as run it myself after being done with the slithering.

Ah thank you :) My bad. I'm using Belimarius as a Greater Scope Villain in my home game, so she's on my mind.

I am planning on running characters through the Crown of the Kobold King in a few weeks. Would this adventure be good as a follow up, I understand the this begins at 4th and CKK ends at 6th but there does not appear to be any modules at the 6th or so level of experience.
It'll be tricky; not only will your PCs be 7th level at the end of Kobold King when Seven Dooms expects them to be 4th, but Kobold King takes place very far away from Sandpoint both physically (it's in the middle of Avistan) and in the timeline (Kobold King's events play out about 17 years before those in Seven Dooms).
The timeline thing you can handwave but might be tricky if your players are really into the world's lore. The distance thing is easier to handwave by just saying "you traveled to Sandpoint" but the fact that the PCs will have no built-up fame in Sandpoint will be weird.
The best way to do this is to adjust Kobold King so that it's set in the Sandpoint region. Change Falcon's Hollow into Sandpoint, then run the PCs through the adventure but end with chapter 2, when the PCs hit 4th level, and go on from there with Seven Dooms. Chapter 2 has a pretty built-in way to end things there if you...
If you haven't started yet... it might be better to save Kobold King for a separate thing and instead run Rusthenge for the PCs.

Thank you sp much for this recommendation. That is helpful. I have been tinkering with Foundry and might just use the PFS season that is available on there for now.

The "Your First Adventure" section of the players guide makes me cry GM tears of joy! A mini, speed-run choose your own adventure story for the group to automatically create a series of past events everyone was involved in? Omg yes!
Please do this for every single adventure going forward (AP, standalone, one-shot, whatever) that starts past 1st level.
No more of this "you all start at level 15, and may or may not have been adventuring with each other before this... discuss with your group about previous adventures you've possibly had and how it affects the group dynamic going forward"
Players dont want homework, they want gameplay... and gameplay that creates a party dynamic before the real adventure even starts is amazing and wonderful
Heartfelt thank you to whoever came up with this idea!

Thanks! This is something I've been wanting to include in a Player's Guide for a while, and this special occasion seemed like a good spot for it.
But from the department of expectation management... it's unlikely we'll do this for other Player's Guides or in printed products, because it takes up a fair amount of space and isn't an easy thing to create. We'll see where things go from here though, I suppose!
