This sounds absolutely great. I wonder how long in the past goes the influence of this sinister something. If it has to do only with Sandpoint rather than the whole area and why.

But, yes, a town that has been plagued at least twice by PCs in rather recent history. Something sinister is definitely afoot.

I am so excited for this!! Absolute must buy, and a great idea for the 200th volume! I hope there will be some cool accessories to go along with it, such as maps, etc.

Also, a lot of BattleTech/Heavy Gear and such books could hit this size.

I wouldn't exactly leave them exposed to the sun and flopped open-cover on the floor, but so long as you keep them on a shelf in reasonable condition, they should endure just fine. I've got a classic 80s-era BTech Technical Readout that looks like it came fresh off the printer, despite being 35 years old.

Anyway, Seven Dooms, woo! I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this one. Six months!

No.

I finished writing it a few months before the whole OGL situation happened, and it was well into development and layout when those events did happen. The very nature of this adventure has a deep dive into nostalgia, and that includes a fair amount of encounters with OGL-themed monsters that would have been tricky to adjust for... even if we DID have time to go in and make those adjustments at that late stage in the process (which we did not).

You can, of course, run the adventure using the Remastered rules. You'll need to be fluent in both the remastered rules and OGL rules to do so, relying more on the OGL rules for short stat blocks of monsters taken from the Bestiaries and the Core Rulebook for many of the spells those creatures use and for many of the magic items the PCs will discover, but since both are 2nd Edition Pathfinder, it'll work fine. You'll just have to have extra books or additional sites open in your browser is all.

The trickiest part is if your players want to play a wizard with the Runelord archetype. In this case, the best bet is to let that player use the OGL version of the wizard and archetype, as I'm not sure we'll have a Remastered version of that archetype available for folks to use by the time this adventure is out.

I'm looking into the possibility of providing more advice for folks who want to run it using the remastered rules, but we're VERY busy at this point and it might end up being limited to me giving out said advice here on the boards or over on the Pathfinder 2E reddit forum, etc.

Are there plans for a Foundry module release for this? And if so, how are you going to get over the fact that they are not supporting the old ruleset if it's designed with OGL in mind?

I mean, PF2 and PF2R are still perfectly inter-compatible, so it'll be fine.

Also I would be flabbergasted if Sigil Ent, or even Foundry themselves, don't do a day-of module for this.

They weren't trying to be condescending, but we already know they're replacing alignment damage with Spirit, with Holy/Unholy and Sanctified traits colouring said damage. Odds are they'll just swap out all mentions of Good/Evil damage with spirit, like how they're already subbing out Positive/Negative with Vitality/Void.

What will they do about previously published PF2 APs / adventures ? Those are OGL too.

If the original AP was published under the OGL, the module will be posted under the same license. There might be parts of the system that'll struggle with the removal of alignment, but OGL monsters and spells will remain in the system, with the exception of the ORC creatures/items/spells with the exact same name as the OGL being treated as errata and changed.

For those wondering, the OGL stuff that will be removed from teh FoundryVTT PF2 system will be moved to modules that you can install if you prefer them. They won'T be 100% lost.

Or the Sandpoint Devil comes out to play ... Or both?

If you get the softcover version will they be releasing a map you can buy separately? The hardcover version includes a map. The softcover version doesn’t say anything about a map.

The poster map in the hardcover shows the town of Sandpoint and the hinterlands. These same maps appear on the inside front and back covers of the softcover version, but at 1/4 the size as their appearance on the four-panel poster map.

Seven Dooms to my knowledge isn't really tied to Rune magic, and it's not like those concepts as a whole have disappeared. There's still blasy magic, still enchanting magic, still protection magic, still illusion magic, still transmuting magic, still conjuring magic, still necromantic magic. Just because it's not outright referred to as such doesn't mean the concept is gone.

No, because:

1) Seven Dooms for Sandpoint is an OGL adventure, not a remastered adventure.

2) Just because we haven't created rules for how runelords and Thassilonian rune magic (both from the player-facing runelord archetype and the GM-facing lore) transition into the remastered rules "today" doesn't mean we can't do so "tomorrow". If and when we do something that presents a runelord-adjacent story for a remastered adventure, we'll have those rules out to support it, and vice-versa.

Correct. A double-sized adventure means twice as much writing, twice as much editing, almost twice as much art, and so on, so us skipping a month is partially a resource management thing. And since a 200 page volume will cost more than a 96 page volume, skipping a month helps on the customer side for a monthly subscription by balancing the cost of what folks will be paying better between the two months.

So yeah... if you consider a 96 page dose of adventure path every month to be the norm, in February the world will be short by 96 pages, but in March, the world will not only catch up, but will be ahead of that schedule by 8 pages, after which we're back to the regularly scheduled 96 pages a month model.

Absolutely correct.

Our philosophy and goal for the transition between OGL and Remastered Pathfinder is that we wanted to keep the in-world changes as invisible as possible, and to maintain our ability to continue telling the same stories we have from the start. Even though this isn't an edition change, it's the same philosophy we pursued when going from 3.5 to Pathfinder 1st edition, and then later for 1st edition to 2nd edition. But since we can't update the entirety of everything that's come before, we have to pick and choose what we focus on.

In part, since Seven Dooms for Sandpoint is the latest product to touch on the runelords and is still an OGL adventure, that means that the next time we'll be doing runelord-adjacent content is a while out, so the remastered support for the lore and the archetype didn't have to be included in the already overburdened amount of content we HAD to scramble to produce in less than a year, thanks to the nature of the OGL surprise.

We'll get to the runelord updates eventually. Not this year though.

Come to think about it, never realized how Mobogo are actually similar to Froghemoth concept wise.

In a way that warms my heart that even with loss of Froghemoth to ogl paizo already had viable spiritual alternative :D
