The Pathfinder Player Core presents a new entry point to Pathfinder Second Edition, with everything a player needs to learn how to play the game! Choose from eight ancestries, eight complete character classes, and hundreds of feats and spells to make unique characters ready for deadly adventures in a world beset by magic and evil! This 464-page hardcover tome is the definitive rules resource for all Pathfinder Second Edition players!

Pathfinder Player Core is the first core rulebook for the fully remastered Pathfinder Second Edition RPG! These rules are compatible with previous Pathfinder Second Edition rulebooks, incorporating comprehensive errata and rules updates and some of the best additions from later books into new, easier-to-access volumes with new presentations inspired by years of player feedback. Along with the GM Core, Monster Core, and Player Core 2, these books provide a new foundation for the future of tabletop gaming!

This deluxe special edition is bound in faux leather with metallic deboss cover elements and a bound-in ribbon bookmark.

Pathfinder Player Core includes:

  • Easier to Learn! We’ve taken feedback from the Beginner Box and the Core Rulebook and made this new entry into the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game easier to navigate and get right into the fun.
  • Complete character creation rules, walking you through building a character by selecting your Ancestry, Background, and Class, with a focus on the bard, cleric, druid, fighter, ranger, rogue, witch, and wizard! Core ancestry options include human, dwarf, elf, gnome, goblin, halfling, leshy, and orc!
  • A mountain of options allowing you to customize your character including versatile heritages, like the changeling and nephilim, skills and feats, and hundreds of spells (including dozens of new ones), ensuring that the character you build represents your hero not just in story, but in rules as well!
  • Everything you need to know to start playing, from advice on how to explore the world to tips on surviving deadly combats with terrifying foes.
  • A primer on the world of Lost Omens so that your character can be a part of an exciting and diverse world!
  • Rules and tools to advance your character through play, taking them from a fresh-faced adventurer ready to take on the world to a veteran hero, wielding powerful magic that can reshape reality!
  • Fully integrated errata from the first 4 years of Pathfinder Second Edition, including revisions to the witch, expanded options for every character class, streamlined spells, new equipment, and more!
  • This is the first Pathfinder product published under the new Open RPG Creative (ORC) license, giving players and Game Masters even more freedom for making their own creations based on Pathfinder Second Edition.

Hmmm I think the normal one looks more epic, so I stay with that one

Sorry If missed this elsewhere, but if I'm a rulebook subscriber, and would like the special edition (with PDF) as opposed to the standard version, what would be the appropriate way for me to achieve that?

Send an email to Paizo customer service

customer.service@paizo.com

Explain clearly what changes you want to make to your subscriptions, and they will be able to do that, if it is possible. If it isn't, they'll explain your other options.

Since there are in fact two separate rulebook subscriptions (one for regular edition hardbacks, the other for special edition), you can do half of the process yourself, but I would guess that you would want to wait until Paizo has done their part.

So part 1 would be to simply cancel your standard rulebook subscription by sending an e-mail to customer.service@paizo.com as Dancing Wind suggested. Mention in your e-mail that you are canceling that subscription because you want the special edition subscription instead.

If they don't start up your special edition subscription at the same time they cancel your regular rulebook subscription, you can still start the special edition subscription yourself at that point. The place where you originally signed up for the regular rulebook subscription now has two buttons, one for each of the two types of rulebook that they have subscriptions for.

I thought they mentioned somewhere the possibility, specifically for these books considering the three covers, exclusive game store sketch, that they were looking at an easy way to pause or skip the core books. Did we get any update on that?

I thought I had read something about this as well.

They have said they're looking at it. They haven't published anything on it yet. Still got time. :-)

Aaron mentioned in another post that they were hoping to have a new system in place by the Remaster launch, but it doesn't look like that's happening in time. So contacting Customer Service would be your best bet to skip the core books.

His response was in regards to someone asking about how charging would work with 2 books coming out in the same subscription, and potentially needed to approve one while skipping the other. So not the exact same question, but I suspect the same answer.

Correct. Our new system will not be in place for the remaster launch, so please email CS if you need to alter your subscription.

I love that cover! If I wasn't trying to get the WR sketch cover at my FLGS I'd seriously consider getting these covers.

I was going to say, the conceit of that new cover style is *sick as hell*.

Will that be a going theme for SE covers post-Remaster? Or is it just for the Remaster Core books?

The Remaster Core will be similar. There is no Special Edition theme, generally.

Do the Special Edition book versions reprint a page (inside) with the cover image of the regular edition?

Yes, but it is a transparency of it.

(If it is what I think it is, it's the title page, and it's the same as the regular books... but I do not own any PF2 special edition book so I cannot check.)
