Are there any plans to add hyperlinks to the pdf, at the very least to the index?

From what I heard from someone else doing big books like Paizo, it's not that easy to incorporate in these books, and into the big distribution pipeline. He didn't say any details, but he said it's complicated, as he tried to do it and gave up himself.

And there will soon be a fully hyperlinked version of the rules on Archives of Nethys.

Is the PDF version of the book futureproof against errata? I am seriously debating getting the book in both hardcover for quick, easy reference at my table and the PDF for updates that come.

When they release a new physical version, the pdf will be updated to match. You will not have to purchase another copy to have access to the updated pdf.

Until they release a new physical edition, errata will continue to be separate from the pdf.

Archives of Nethys *does* update with errata sooner though, so it undoubtedly the best reference. Hence it being the system reference document ;)

I will wait for the errata updated pdfs then. I don't find it attractive to be offered a product that is supposed to be a fix and an upgrade of an existing one, but that itself comes out with a slew of new and important errors on day one...

Do you expect perfection on day one? If not, when? And why not release errata as soon as it is known it is needed?

IME every printing brought new errata.

Then you are going to wait forever, because there is always stuff to be fixed.

I would suggest something like Demiplane then. They update with the errata, so their books have the latest changes and syncing with your paizo account gets you the pdf. So when that updates you've got that as well.

Demiplane allows you to share your books if you subscribe. If you want to check it out, I've got room to invite you so you can see what Demiplane is all about.

It is true, we (do our best to) share our errata with partners before it goes live, so they can have it integrated. Copy-fitting is not an issue for them. :)

Any chance that the Runelord (Wizard Specialization and Dedication) or the Cartomancer (Witch Archetype) will be updated soon to work with the remaster classes?

What sort of turnaround can we expect on a new release of the PDF with all of the day 1 errata corrected?
PDF will not get the errata until the books are reprinted. Adding errata into a book requires reformatting that book to make sure everything lines up, and they only do that when they do a print run.

Gotcha. Kind of sucks for the PDF folks, since all of the prep is done in digital and completed before being sent to the printers. PDF folks could get it as soon as they finish tweaking the adjusted layout. Perhaps even catching more typos BEFORE they send it off the the printers again.

I prefer to wait for the pocket edition to come out for portability purposes; I was one of those GMs with an overstuffed backpack of tomes and those were way too heavy to go through that again (please keep pushing for those Lost Omens accessory books to be made into pocket editions, Aaron!). Will the pocket editions be exact copies of the hardcover ones just released? Or will they be updated with the errata by the time they see print? I have no idea how far ahead of printing these layouts are done

So you are asking for Paizo to do the layouts, release the PDFs, wait for public errata posts, re-do the layouts, and only then send the layouts to the printer?

In essense, putting a "public errata finding" pause in the printing process?

Who would be able to buy PDFs early? Only subscibers, or anyone who wants the electronic version?

It also removes the incentive for people to subscribe to the physical copies, since it removes the "no PDFs until your copy has shipped" policy, since people would be getting their PDFs before the book was even sent to the printer. Apparently, that reduces both the total sales of physical copies and the predictability of the demand for those physical copies.

I think they mean:

Release (PDF and physical) -> Errata the PDF -> when needed, take the layout already done for the PDF errata and reprint it.

The problem with this would be that it would actually be this:
Release (PDF and physical) -> Errata the PDF, taking more time than now cause they woould now need to layout/copyfit the errata in the PDF instead of just discussing the rules and pushing them in the FAQ page -> more Errata come, so they need to do ANOTHER round of layouting/copyfit, probably repeat this extra step more than once -> when a reprint is needed, do even more layouting cause there was even more errata.

All these extra layouting/copyfit would means less time spent working on new books. And/Or more overworked people. >_>

As far as we know, only the classes in Player Core 2 are still getting remastered. None of the other released classes which were in later books than the Core Rule Book and the Advanced Players Guide look like they'd need much remastering, anyway. I'm pretty sure that Paizo will be happier returning to their actually planned releases, which had to be pushed into 2024/2025 due to the Remaster and the whole OGN/ORC deal.

I've got to say that until ORC I've been resisting adopting PF2e and, instead, was staying exclusively with PF1e.

But after the OGL fiasco I decided to start playing PF2E to 1) support Paizo because you enable me to play in the VTT world I love and allow me to buy PDFs of you products and 2) WotC just made me completely sick and I now have no plans to use their material in any way.

After looking at PF2e, I can see why we lost so many PF1e players. It's really a far more interesting system -- and I am very, very glad finally that GM material is in a separate book.

Thank you, again, very much for setting us on the path to ORC and finally being free of WotC craziness!

Any idea on giving the pdf version for free for those who had the original CRB instead of having to purchase them again. I mean it is technically just a rework and since you are offering them for free on Archives of Nethys, I dont see why it could not be offered?

It is a new book. Not just a rework.

And the CRB pdf has never been given away for free even though the rules were for free on AoN.

I want to say that I've resisted converting from PF1e to PF2e for years, mostly because I have so much invested in PF1e -- and because I hate 5e so much. A lot of us older players thought PF2e was just another 5e. I was also upset about how abruptly production was stopped on PF1e and felt it damaged our community.

However, with the loads and loads of Humble Bundles for PF2e I have been able to recoup my losses in investment of PF1e material. I was forced to take a serious look at PF2e because the PF1e community shrank rapidly starting about exactly last year this time.

I was very puzzled why this happen.

After ramping up seriously on PF2e, I get it now. PF2e really is so much better!!!

I am very impressed. This is a great RPG system. Very well thought out. Big improvement over the world's oldest role playing game from the world's most annoying RPG gaming company.

The variety and depth of game play has reached an unparalleled level of awesomeness with the proficiency bonus, reworked skills with features separated by untrained versus trained, proficiency levels, variety of feats, simplification of racial adjustments, critical success/success/fail/critical fail for various die rolls, 3 action system that resolves some issues I ran into as a GM and restores some game balance between casters and fighters, etc.

It's no wonder the PF1e community collapsed so fast and the PF2e community took over. It wasn't just newer is better -- it was much better!

Thank you, Paizo! I just got caught up and my adventure has just begun!

Actually, I kinda found it, it's just not in an easy PDF form.

Under "Pathfinder Core Rulebook Errata (Remaster Compatability)", so I guess it would not be too hard to drop that into a PDF on your own if you wanted...

The only document they talked about was the Remaster Preview doc that was needed for people to use Rage of Elements, available on this page:

Pathfinder Second Edition Remaster Project Core Preview

This is a very partial list of changes, the strict minimum to use Rage of Elements. But yeah, there are at least one that have been done by fans, linked above by Ed. :P

There's also the FAQ you linked, but that's kinda less complete, having NONE of the actual changes in Player Core and GM core, only having champion and spells that have not been reprinted in these books. So yeah. xD

Two page and chapter reference mistakes I noticed in the first printing of Player Core:

1. Page 92 - "Ancestry feats are detailed in each ancestry entry in Chapter 2, which begins on page 240." This should read "begins on page 40."

2. Page 15 - "All characters can use the basic actions found in Chapter 9 ..." This should read "basic actions found in Chapter 8 ..."

Not a _content_ error, per se, but on page 112, Cleric Doctrines: "Cloistered Cleric" and "Warpriest" are rendered in two different header colors (maroon and green, respectively), despite the fact that other sibling sections with similar headers are rendered in the same color.

It might be a little thing but I really liked the art that was produced for the first and last pages, part of the cover.

I stumbled over a possible grammatical/editing error on page 254. The final sentence for the Dubious Knowledge feat currently reads as:

"This can occur as not knowing something is significant, but not whether it’s good or bad."

After spending a great deal of time mentally wrestling with this particular sentence, I came to the conclusion that the very first "not" simply shouldn't be there.

One more page reference mistake in the first printing of Player Core: On page 138 - "You gain the Shield Block general feat (found on page 266) ... " The correct page is 262.

Oh, you know, that's probably right- I had been reading it as saying that the "don't know if it's good or bad" isn't allowed, but that would be a weird restriction to include when "there's something about trolls and fire..." is a GM's most common response for Dubious Knowledge.

Going through the spell list to redo my spell cards, I found that the spell "Grease" is listed as both a 1st and a 3rd-rank spell on both the Arcane and Primal spell lists. It needs to be removed from the 3rd-rank Arcane list on pg. 305 and the 3rd-rank Primal list on page 312.
