The rest of the night, its difficult for Dart and Isabella to rest, but it goes without incident.

Galin, let me know what spells you have prepared please.

Dart and Galin are up

Spoiler:
Dart Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Galin Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Isabella Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Torian Initiative (Underground): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Zombies Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18

At the noise of Torian's clanging and yelling, the shuffling sound intensifies and some moans are heard from deeper in the room. The shuffling seems to get closer and closer and from around the corner stumbles a rotting human corpse. Its flesh hangs off in places and what remains is yellowed and bulging with what looks like large sickly pustules. It stumbles closer to Torian but can't manage to swing at him before Torian gets a chance to act. At the same time, another one stumbles around the corner to the north and closes with Galin suddenly. Torian can see 2 more just beginning to come around the corners ahead of him behind the first.

Torian and Galin need to make readied action attacks. for this. I'm considering the movement of the zombies and your readied actions the first round of combat.

As the first zombie staggers around the corner, Isabella's first blast of energy hits it and its arm withers and falls off, still twitching on the ground.

After the readied actions, its Dart, Zombies, the party

The zombies are easy to hit, AC 12, HP 12

Knowledge Religion DC 10:
These zombies are not normal zombies. They carry disease so being hit by them or even being near them when they are destroyed will expose you.

Ugh, sorry for the formatting error

Dart swings his sword at the giant frog, slashing across it's back, and it whirls around to strike at him with its huge maw but can't manage to get purchase on the nimble half-elf.

Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Sorry, not feeling well. I’ll try to post tomorrow.

Dart picked up a morningstar right?

Dart runs forward and bashes at the bloody skeleton next to Torian, trying to finish it off.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

The morningstar, aimed poorly, bounces off the skeleton's ribs without breaking them.

Two of the skeletons move to surround the stout armored dwarf and another moves to attack Galin, the only sounds they make are the clacking of bones together.

skeleton attacks:
Purple claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Purple claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Yellow claw 1 Flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 2 = 22
Teal claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Purple claw 2 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Yellow claw 1 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The 2 skeletons surrounding Torian claw at his face and back, finding chinks in his armor and rake his flesh (9 damage to Torian). The skeletons claws drip with their own blood and leave streaks on Torian and Galin where they couldn't get through armor.

Party is up. If you want Dart to attack a specific enemy, just say so.

Trunt, knowing the glass is probably the other group, will head back to his partners and tell them about the long hallway and whisper, "Ok, do you want to run into this room here and take these goblins, or do you want to sneak farther into the building?"

Technically, none of the “Detect Magic” group have gotten lone of sight on what ever it is, because the water is slightly murky especially down at the bottom so I don’t think you would even be able to determine school of magic.

Yeah, that’s good. I’ll let Galin head up the “explain” team and give you guys a bonus for the mage hand idea. Are you holding the rope to where it dangles down into the water down to the source? Also, I think the intention is for Light to act as a point source so I’m going to rule that you can only make the end glow, but that will still allow you to mark the location about as effectively for the retriever. Good thinking!

Sure Galin. Also, forgot to mention, its humid, musty even, in this room and there are fungi and molds on the scattered on the walls and growing out of the seams in the stone floor.

Torian's axe dips into the water, he has to lean over the edge of the pool for it to reach into the water. Nothing seems to change about the axe, when he pulls it out, it glistens and the handle of the axe darkens with moisture.

GM Mervikoth wrote:
Thurl's player succeeds at his real-life perception check. 4000 XP

Is that real life experience or in-game experience?

Torian gets a gold star for putting SOME of the pieces together.

Dart turns to the rest of them and points out his findings. "Looks like these statues do something, and there is definitely a trigger for a trap on the floor there. I can try to disable it, but who knows if that is what sets off the statues or if it does something else entirely. We know the trap is there, should we just go back around and see if we can bypass it? Or we could just jump over that spot. Suggestions?"

By the way, can I use Darthmarth28’s autosheet for my character? I can put all the quick access stuff in my profile header but I like the character sheets that do calculations for me.

On another note, GM, do you have a vision for how other races view goblins as a whole? I was kind of thinking, on average, people would be mildly distrustful with quite a few that hate them and a smaller group that were cautiously excepting. That being said, I’m ok with what ever you say and I don’t even know how much it will matter.

Hey, this is Nosh reporting in! I kinda assumed I wouldn’t get chosen so I haven’t made an alias or even completed a build yet so I will finish that up tomorrow and report in. I’ll have to look back over everyone else’s backgrounds and see what connections there might be as well!

Thanks for the opportunity!

Nosh's Pitch:
Nosh always knew he was smart, but He didn't really know HOW smart until they found the strange book in the ruined tower. No one else could make heads or tails of it except Nosh. He had already learned Infernal while they were in the Whisperwood in Cheliax but after they moved to the Chitterwood Isger, he didn't know it would come in handy. All of the books in this place were in Infernal, but this one book was especially difficult to understand. It took Nosh at least hours to read it and none of the others had the patience, but Nosh did. The magic in it looked simple enough once he had read the whole thing. Hold your hands in a certain way, speak these words and Focus and a spectral hand appears. It was a neat trick, but it wasn't that hard and it was fun to spook the others but they didn't like it. It scared them. He tried to show them how he could help them, but they didn't want to hear about "transient abjurational warding" or "Necromantic Attenuation of life-force". That just made them more scared and Nosh had to run away, they would have hurt him and he had to get away. He lived on his own for a while until he made his way to Eilider. The Dwarf in Eilider had told him that he would be safe in Andora so Nosh gave him his money and tried to keep out of everyone's way...but there were so many tricks to play...

I've been wanting to play a Wizard for a while, and the idea of a Goblin wizard intrigued me. I've been trying to work out what it would look like to be a very intelligent and relatively disciplined goblin surrounded by stereotypical goblins and the idea grew on me. The idea is that now one would want to teach a goblin, or even think to take the time so Nosh just stumbled upon a Spell book and "figured it out".

Ancestry: Goblin (Iron Gut)
Background: Refugee
Class: Wizard (Universalist)

About me:
I'm in 3 active PbP games right now, including one that I DM but none of them are PF2E and I want to give it a whirl. This is a lot of new stuff for me because, in addition to that, I've never played a prepared caster before, so I don't think Nosh will turn out optimized at all, in case that matters.

Dice rolls:

and 18...

hmm, got to think on that...

4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 6) - 3 = 14
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 4) - 3 = 13

hmm, working on ideas

@Ellioti-I'm going to see if I can make a reasonable Oracle with the Site-Bound Curse but if you have an idea you want to work on, I'd want you to get first crack at it since you mentioned it first but I'm going to work on it either way because its a fun exercise whether or not I end up applying.

Ellioti wrote:

This is like the only game ever, where one could play an Oracle with the Site-Bound curse.

And since oracle's don't need to worship gods, they're not off-topic. He/she could get his divine powers from a particularly mischievous god who thougt it would be funny to have a divine agent in the atheistic city. And to make sure he doesn't leave, he got cursed, so he can't.

I had the exact same thought, but I'm not adventurous enough for a solo game.

That sounds fair. Enjoy all!

Are you still willing to take applicants? I waffled a bunch, but I've got a Ulfen Oracle almost done. Should have it finalized by tomorrow if you are willing to wait.

Short version of his background: He's a younger son of the Hroskelson family who is physically weak and deaf from birth but has trained in history and diplomacy to support his older brother. He is intensely loyal to his family/town and is charismatic in the "gets along with everyone well" way. He has an supernatural connection to winter and uses that to protect his family and hurt their enemies.

I think there is enough interest, I'll leave it to someone else. Have fun!

Trunt Zecks's crunch should be shared now for anyone with a link. Let me know if it acts up again.

Working on a Ulfen Cleric of Yamatsumi with Protection (Defense) and Water (Ice) domains. I was thinking to make him the younger son of a mayor/chief of the city. Is that viable? If so, do you want to give me a family name or me make it up?

Edit: Also, how close is this to the Crown of the World? Is it feasible that there would be a Tengu or 2 from Hongal on Tian Xia?
I'd been toying with the idea of a Tengu cleric but I had waffled back and forth and landed on Human but I'm re-rethinking.

Oops. I think I’ve got it fixed. I’ll double check in the morning when I have computer access.

Well, got to roll to see what might work right?

Ability roll: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 1) - 1 = 8
Ability roll: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 6) - 1 = 15
Ability roll: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 6) - 1 = 9
Ability roll: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 2) - 2 = 11
Ability roll: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 6) - 3 = 15
Ability roll: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 4) - 1 = 13

15 by point but if I did my math right. Too bad, I would enjoy using rolled stats.

I’ve got 95% of a stat block but I’ve yet to land on a good background/personality. Things are still cooking in the ol’ noggin.

I've got Trunt Zecks That I would love to play. Hes a male Gnome UnRogue with the Cutpurse archetype.

I format his profile with his stats if you need, I just prefer this format so I was hoping it would work.

Scratch that, I’ll just do True Neutral

Ok, I’m going to nail down a Clockwork servant with the young and enlightened construct templates. I’ll need to know the alignment of our Wizardess master because enlightened construct has to be within one step of the creator.

Roll for Int: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11
Roll for Cha: 1 + 2d6 ⇒ 1 + (2, 1) = 4

Hmm, that opens up some options. I’d assumed I would have to be self sufficient.

DM Vayelan wrote:
We can "upgrade" the free Combat Expertise into Deft Maneuvers. I don't think it will be too powerful, and I think it is in keeping with the spirit of the archetype.

Thanks for getting back to me. I made some feat changes due to that but nothing too big.

I've got...

Trunt Zecks

Trunt is a Gnome Mesmerist (Vexing Trickster) with a sneaky disposition

Background:
Trunt Zecks 10ish minute background

Key Concepts
Trunt was born in the town of New Stetven but his parents died when he was an older child leaving him to fall into a life of conning and cheating
Trunt was caught on the streets of New Stetven running rigged games and barely made it out to the forests of house Medvyed where he hooked up with a gang of criminals that ambushed trade caravans. He would infiltrate the caravans and pick out the choicest targets.

Appearance
Trunt is a gnome of average height with bright purple hair and green eyes
Trunt wears lots of different colors, including a dark green pelisse thrown over one shoulder that he loves. He has a dark red vest with pockets everywhere and simple brown breeches with a simple belt and a small pouch and a small handcrossbow attached to it.
Most of the time, he has a Poppet that follows him around carrying his pack with what ever supplies he needs

Personality
Trunt gets along very well with most people, laughs a lot, and seems easy going.
Trunt doesn’t trust other people very much so he uses his magic more than he needs too to influence them to do the things he wants.
Trunt keeps private, although others wouldn’t know it. He is a very convincing liar so not many REALLY know him

Goals
Trunt is just looking to get away from his “associates” in the forests north of East Sellen river who caught him taking more than his “fair’ share
Start fresh somewhere and be in charge so that he doesn’t get in trouble

Secrets
Trunt hides his magic as much as possible from his traveling group, preferring to use it when he isn’t seen

Relationships
His whole previous crew is antagonistic toward him (details possible if picked for campaign
Pick one PC that he has a close relationship with and knows his full capabilities

One question, Vexing trickster gets Combat Expertise as a bonus feat at level 3. Do I need to just count that as a wash since the Feat tax rules do away with it or is there something fitting that he could get instead? I'd like to pick up Deft Maneuvers but I would understand if that was considered too powerful a replacement.

I'm presenting...

Torq, a Half-elven Urban Bloodrager

character sheet-I'd prefer not to make an Alias unless I'm selected. Also, I can format the crunch however you want but I like this format so this is how I started. I've still got to buy non-combat equipment.

Ten-ish minute background:
Torq 10ish minute background

Key Concepts
1. Torq is a strong young warrior from Kellid tribe of X, his family is well known for their fortune in battle and their partial elven heritage
2. Torq has unusual control of his anger than the other warriors giving him a wily reputation and some tact in social situations
3. Tribe X has been approached by the Technic League to subsume into the control of Skyfall

Personality
1. Torq is thoughtful and slow to anger but when his anger is raised, he takes the long view, some may not know of his inner rage.
2. Torq is easy to get along with but not particularly gregarious

Goals
1. Defeat/thwart the Technic League’s push to consume his tribe
2. Form an Alliance between his tribe and Torch to combat the influence of Skyfall

Secrets
1. Torq has been sent by his tribe to make sure that the blame for Torch going out is placed on the Technic League
2. Torq doesn’t know that his bloodrage has Arcane components and part of the reason the Technic League is after his tribe is to control his family bloodline

Relationships
1. Brokt is the chief of Tribe X and has shown interest in Torq, grooming him as chief some day in the distant future
2. Torq’s father, Tobin, has imparted his skill with arms and his attitude of watching and striking when most advantageous

Questions:

I took the Blended View alternate racial trait which replaces multitalented but its +2 RP. Is this ok? If not, I can replace it with something else.

Also, I haven't named his Kellid tribe yet. Any ideas?

You can also make copies of your avatar to use as markers for your characters for google sheets.

Well, I couldn’t make my character like I wanted ANd make it mesh well AND make a compelling background so I think I will withdraw my interest. Hope everyone chose enjoys the game.

Stats: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 1) - 1 = 12
Stats: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3) - 1 = 9
Stats: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 1) - 1 = 9
Stats: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 5) - 2 = 14
Stats: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 3) - 3 = 11
Stats: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 2) - 2 = 11

Hmm, 7 point. Let’s give that another shot.

Stats: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 6) - 2 = 15
Stats: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 5) - 1 = 12
Stats: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 2) - 2 = 14
Stats: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 2) - 2 = 17
Stats: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 3) - 2 = 13
Stats: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 2) - 1 = 8

Hmm, that’s...28??? I’ll have to think about that.

I’m tinkering around with idea of a custom half-elf, half dragon character from the Tolkien middle earth universe. He’d be a creation of Morgoth mixing dragon and elven features somehow with a Mesmerist (Hate-monger)/(?)Antipaladin(Fearmonger) of Morgoth/X. I’ve fiddled around with a bunch of different options for the other class. I’m really torn between a natural attack build to emphasize the dragon (possible bloodrager or barbarian?) or maybe a switch hitter somehow.

For my item, I’m leaning toward a mithral collar that gives some sort of bonus on will saves unless he is being targeted by someone with a keyword/control device in which case he has a severe negative and he can’t take it off.

Any thoughts? Ideas on a class that fits thematically with elves or dragons from middle earth? I’m avoiding draconic bloodlines because I want some of those benefits baked into the race. Ideas on what sort of bonuses for the collar are reasonable? I would like for whoever controls the collar to be able to very reliably control/influence my character.

Not it!

Ok, all relevant changes made I think. Had to drop an item and pay higher cost some etc. no substantive changes to build, just money. I think Matin should be squared away unless I messed something else up (always possible).

caster4life wrote:
Hi Matin thanks for getting ready fast. I've only just started checking over people's sheets but I notice that Matin has potions of long arm and lead blades. Those would be great spells to have in potion form but a potion "must not have the range of personal" like those spells do so they aren't allowed as potions.

Thanks for that. My bad. I should refresh myself on potions. Also, I’ll double check to make sure those magic items can be crafted.

whoops, Skinwalker with the wereboar-kin alternate features.

I’d love to throw a character together. I’ve got a couple melee ideas floating around that I’d like to try out. Thinking about either a wereboar bloodrager into dragon disciple if that will be allowed, or a 3 armed mutagen Warrior with a tower shield and a 2 handed weapon. I know the tower shield is suboptimal, but I’d like to get it as good as I can.

Mallius checks out!

Mallius Vatius

Background:
Mallius was born in the city of Kintargo in Cheliax. Made a slave at birth, he bounced from owner to owner as Ragebred are prized for their strength and hardiness, separated from his parents at birth. He has had Anger issues all his life but at puberty, in a flash of rage at his mistreatment, long wicked looking claws extended from his hands and he killed his task master. The claws vanished in his shock and he ended up being blamed for the death even though his owner couldn’t figure out how he did it and he was branded on his back with the mark of a dangerous slave. The other slaves covered for his transformation and he change hands a couple more times. He ended up escaping from his current master Florialis Asellio on his third escape attempt and headed for Andoran and freedom. He never settled for long in one place because doesn’t trust people to leave him be and he avoids the law more often than not because of the treatment he had received at Cheliaxian hands. He hides both his wereboar nature and his claws whenever possible.

Appearance:
Mallius is a medium height human with short bristly brown hair, vivid blue eyes and a hunched brutish posture. He’s got a crooked nose and a small scar through his right eyebrow. He wears a plain light chainshirt over a plain brown shirt with rough patched dark brown leggings and tall worn boots. His hands are large and calloused and he wears a large ragged cloak with a crossbow and a very nice pack slung over his shoulder.

Role:
Mallius will bill himself as a human scout of some kind, which he is moderately proficient at but in combat he is a front line fighter all the way. As soon as his wereboar nature is discovered, he will assume that form all the time.

GM info:
Mallius is a product of experimentation by Rivozair, a blue dragon trying to create foot soldiers willing to serve it by mixing its blood with wereboar humanoids. He doesn’t know this and as he gets stronger, he will exhibit more and more draconic features and become more curious to his own background. Mine this information or don’t as you see fit.

@GM
How do you feel about Bloodrager into Dragon Disciple? It doesn’t conflict per se, but dragon disciple was written before Bloodrager so it requires some GM interpretation on a number of points.

Well, I’m working on a fighter/stalwart defender // Paladin // Oracle. We won’t technically be high enough level for the stalwart defender (SD) to kick in, but I figured tristalt was the best chance of making a SD work so I wanted to give it a shot.

Edit: well crud, I forgot to refresh before I posted. Sorry to step on your toes Vampire Cat. Pretty sure our builds will be way different though.

Hello all.

I just saw this campaign page and thought this would be the perfect setting for a vigilante, which I've been wanting to do for a while. Still working on background, just thought I would let you know I was working on it. What is the deadline for a final submission?

Well, I’m going to throw my hat into the ring, even though there are already a lot of good submissions. I’m working on a gnome Oracle buffer/debuffer named…

Trunt Zecks:

He’s probably going to be Dual-Cursed and he’s followed by misfortune so he’s an outcast local with the Pessimist Trait. High charisma but he mostly uses bluff and intimidate to get himself out of dangerous situations. I’d kinda like for his Oracle spells to only kick in in our first fight if we can manage that, but I’d understand if that isn’t manageable. I’m going to try to wrap up build and background tomorrow and put it in the alias. Probably get the application sheet filled out tomorrow too.

Question, can I leave a couple spots in my background to include other possible party members after recruitment is over?

A little about me:

I’ve been playing DnD 3.5/4E and Pathfinder since the mid-2000s just with friends and family. I had a 5-6 year hiatus after I got married and had 3 kids. At that point, I didn’t have time for FtF so me and some RL friends started a PbP for Ire of the Storm with me playing Stonewall, a dwarven tower shield specialist. We finished after 2000ish posts, 6 levels, and 1.5 years and then started another campaign. It’s a homebrew set in Golarion in which I play Thurl Wisdombringer, a dwarven Contemplative Ki Mystic Sensei Qinggong Monk VMC bard. That one is ongoing. I also started a Crypt of the Everflame which I DMed. I enjoyed that but there was another player that had some RL come up so we decided to just call it quits rather than find a replacement, again that was with a RL friends group.

I enjoy crunch and most of my groups have been mostly Right Brained packed so our play has tended that direction. I’ve found that Role play is easier for me on PbP though and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve done so I’m wanted to experience more of that. Also, one game isn’t scratching my RPG itch.

I check obsessively but can’t always post right away (still usually more than once a day when necessary) because I’m a slow composer, unaided by the fact I’m usually on my phone, but I still try to structure my posts well.

So this would be my first RPG at all with complete strangers let alone PbP and I’m excited to get to know some new people.
