"This ain’t no common wood, I’ll tell you that much." He glances over his shoulder at the others. "Forest here’s old… got that heavy kind of hush to it. Ground’s too soft in places, like it don’t get full sun. Moss growin’ on the wrong side of some trees, and I’m seein’ three kinds o’ mushrooms that shouldn’t be sproutin’ this close together unless the soil’s been disturbed, or somethin’s leakin’ out here it shouldn’t."

"Strangers headed this way, and they weren’t strollin’—they picked up the pace once they hit cover. I’m gonna see if I can follow their trail. Maybe they didn’t count on someone with a bit of a nose for the wild."

With that, Calen adjusts his gear, gives Lunaris a sharp whistle, and slips into the trees, eyes to the ground and hand near his weapon.

Alright folks, this one was really tough and having to choose only 4 or 5 applicants when there are always so many amazing applications to pick from is almost enough to give me choice paralysis.

With that being said though, can I have:

- Tarondor Xu Jiang, Human Cleric of Pharasma

- rainzax Ghul, Elf(Dhampir) Champion(redeemer)

- Sarah Ayane Xio, Tanuki Enigma Bard

- Archpaladin Zousha, Yuranosuke Human Half Elf Melee Ranger

- Seth86, Shandari, Human Sylph Air Kineticist

Please report to the Discussion.

Thank you all for applying, I am deeply appreciative of your time and effort and for considering me as your GM.

Krakas listens intently, arms crossed, his tail flicking thoughtfully as Irabeth lays out the grim reality before them. His gaze lingers on Quednys Orlun, noting the deep lines of exhaustion on the librarian’s face and the weight of loss in his eyes.

“So, let me get this straight,” he says, his voice even but laced with concern. “The demons spent years chipping away at Kenabres’ wardstone, and now they want to use its remains to wipe out the crusaders in one fell swoop. And our job is to infiltrate the Gray Garrison, fight through who-knows-how-many cultists and demons, and destroy what’s left of the wardstone before Areelu Vorlesh gets here to twist it into a weapon.” He exhales through his nose. “Seems simple enough.”

Despite the dry tone, there’s no mistaking the determination in his crimson eyes. He looks at the rod of cancellation Quednys holds, the artifact that could make or break their mission.

Ghul, Doomed Knight wrote:

Ancient but cursed, Ghul divides his life into chapters thousands of seasons long each!

Those early chapters little more than a fading dream, his humanity in an age lost to time, vibrant of skin and wholesome of appetite, civilized, with passions and interests of mortal mirth, only to persist and decay slowly, everyone he had ever known dying, and even himself, his body, spoiling but never fully spending. For ghul is a dhampir gifted with eternal life but not eternal youth, and despite having lived a full life, lost himself for a time proportionally longer by an order of magnitude beyond even his own comprehension.

Those middle chapters - indeed the greatest span of his time under the hated sun by far! - also a blur, dimmed by a different perception altogether, for Ghul had devolved into a beast of the wood, slaking his sanguine lust upon game and fowl and rodent, and living as an animal, crawling on all fours like a dog, his body weak and yet powerful, his awareness of time only an ever-present "now", living by pure instinct, and losing his ability at speech, as years, decades, centuries without contact with other society-dwelling beings withered the very muscle of complex communication from his bloodthirsty tongue, all-the-while the flames of undeath keeping his undead heart paradoxically ice cold, and the entirety of his being reduced to a simple, primal emotion: hunger.

This late chapter, now, perhaps not even a few decades in length, of his being discovered once again by beings also blessed with longevity (but not cursed by depravity) - a group of elves stewarding the Silvermist Lodges (W5 is Player's Guide) - pitying his very soul, and trapping him for an extended period, nursing him back to some semblance of sentience, and with only the patience a race known for living well beyond the ken of other kin, reteaching him how to speak, to listen, to learn...

...in their absence, Ghul remains, and...

Hey that's really funny, I was creeping on your game yesterday just trying to get a feel for how it plays in play by post lol

I think the implication is we'd try Deception, but as we are all so bad at it, the plan would blow up in our face and we'd resort to what we are good at it, which is killing cultist. Well out of character, I'd say we go with much of what i whispered in character, lets use Radiance to get to the leader, and start by cutting off the head of the snake then work our way out.

fighting our way through dozens of cultists only gives our leader time to prepare!

If all else fails though, killing cultists and slaying demons is something we've turned out to be quite good at.

Was out camping the past few days, getting caught up with my Android Cleric of Brigh, name is still a work in process

“Fascinating… this is no mere decoration.” They murmur, more to themselves than the others. Their fingers reach out, tracing just above the wooden figure without touching it, their analytical mind racing to piece together its significance. “A bipedal figure, insect-like. Possibly symbolic, or tied to the wizard’s magic. Brigh teaches that even the smallest gear has purpose in the grand machine. This might be a cog in whatever mechanism controls this place.”

They pause, their eyes flicking back to the group. “It could be a marker, a warning... or a lure.”

Standing up straight, [Android Cleric of Brigh] considers the two tunnels ahead. The light from their hammer casts eerie shadows, and the walls seem to press in closer as the path divides.

“The absence of footprints is concerning,” they continue, their voice calm but thoughtful. “We must consider that we’ve either left their trail or they’ve taken measures to obscure their presence. This carving may offer some clue. It’s possible it aligns with one of these paths, though its purpose is unclear.”

They study the group, then gesture toward the left tunnel.

“We cannot linger here. The right-hand path is the obvious choice for most; many would instinctively choose it.” They tilt their head slightly, the rainwater still dripping from their cloak. “The left could be a less-traveled route, perhaps safer. But we must be prepared for anything.”

Looking at the others, shrugging before joining the Madame in a private room, "Myself, well I'm a Desnan from Varisia, always wandering around, visiting far flung towns and offering my services as needed to protect those in need of protecting. Seems like there was quite a commotion earlier, are you guys attacked by bandits often?"

Here is Gillian, he is a local Andoran boy from the village of Claes just north of Almas where the expedition set out from. A big boy, that uses a Ransuer to help fight and spear local wildlife for fishing.

Born to a local couple, his father is a fisherman, his mother a fish monger. Gillain enjoys the ocean, surfing and being in the Sun.

He joined the expedition as a chance to the see the world, get out of his local small village, and surf some new waves on the other side of the world.

He is a good swimmer, his rage power at level 2 would be "Bestial Swimmer" which gives him a swim speed while raging. I was trying to avoid going the easy route and just grabbing a race with a swim speed, though he originally started as a Gillman, changed him to Human.

Fentus yells out, "Trista No! Hang in there!" then looks around at the dire situation, as the foul undead helmets continue impaling his companions, dare he think, friends with their foul nails. He puts out a hand, and unleashes a surge of positive energy, pouring his soul into the magic, uttering the magical words as he casts it.

3 Action, 2nd lvl Heal: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 5) = 13

Looks like I can reach all of us and the three of the helmet things with the spell, not sure if it counts as going around the wall there to be able to get the yellow helmet. Its a 30 ft emanation. The helmet things need to make a DC 19 Fort Save or take 13 Positive Energy + 2 Fire damage. Follows the basic saving throw rules of:

Critical Success You take no damage from the spell
Success You take half the listed damage from the effect.
Failure You take the full damage listed from the effect.
Critical Failure You take double the listed damage

Overjoyed to see an Inn, Fizz hops down off of Mikhail's horse, patting the beast on the rump. Happy to be offered drinks by the gracious but stammering innkeeper, "Ah a drink would be nice, sir! The throat sure does get parched after a long ride,"

Fizz goes about casting Prestidigitation to clean himself off from the riding dust, and any of his belongings that might be dirty. Pulling his Staff of Healing out of his Haversack, he twirls it before thumping it into the floor, resting it beside him, "How're you fine folk doing? Everyone healthy any ailments bothering some of the locals? If you know of anyone sick, send 'em our way, we can probably provide some healing if anyone needs any. Granted we have the time"

Looking to the others, cheerfully, "Looks like we have a journey ahead of us, if we are trying to move quickly, I might have to ride along with someone on a horse. I'm not much of a horse rider but, I have ways of reducing my weight considerably, so you won't even notice me if I ride along with someone!"

Speaking up, "Well if the trolls are true and really disbanded, I guess we can leave them be, I'm not sure hunting down and killing every last troll is the best course of action right now,"

If you loved Rogue One's story style, the more gritty, down to earth rebellion with less of a focus on the big legendary names its great.

It can feel a little slow but I've really enjoyed it. Its a more traditional story telling style and has a great climax. All the pieces build up nicely and the pay off is great.

Holding up his hand, he blows the smoke off it as he looks down at the charred Charau-ka, "I am not sure we'll even be able to communicate with these beasts, are we sure they are even capable of intelligent communication?"

Shrugging as the others still try, Fentus will throw a phrase or two out in Infernal, insulting the creatures intelligence and odor as he does so.
