Zaria crawls ahead, taking the passage to the north. As she enters the small cavern, her knee catches on a thin tripwire, triggering another wicked looking metal spike to fall from the cavern ceiling.

The trap noise alerts Zaria just a moment before it falls and she rolls to the side just in time, the spike tearing her outer garment, but not injuring her.

After narrowly avoiding the trap, Zaria keeps moving.

After the trap crashes just missing Zaria, she scrambles ahead, staying low to the floor. Karina moves up after her, followed by the others. Suddenly from behind them appears an other jinkin gremlin, wielding a long sharp blade, it moves to attack Alpha-47 who is at the rear of the formation.

From the passage behind them, the jinkin slinks behind Alpha-47 sinking its shortsword blade in the android's back. Then stabbing one more time but missing in its haste.

Alpha takes 5hp dmg and is at 12/17. All the party may now act in this round.

Zaria works around the passageway and clobbers the jinkin on the head with her club, marking it as her primary target first.

Ba'hahk steps back and summons an electrical arc onto the gremlin foe. The jinkin is quite quick, and manages to dodge out of most of the blast, but still takes a small scorch mark.

Jinkin gremlins are unknown to Ba'hahk and he has, before today, never encountered any, so he has no intrinsic knowledge of them.

The gremlin takes 11hp dmg this round from club and spell. Alpha and Karina are still up for the good guys.

Alpha-47, leaking white nanite blood, steps away, avoiding the creature and opening up space for Bahahk to step in, "This creature has stabbed me,"

He'll then pull three sharp needles from pouch and launch them, magically at the creature. "I will need to invest in cold iron needles for any further fey adversaries,"

"Encore," Karina says with a wide grin, commanding her viol to once again strike at the Jinkin once she steps into view of the creature... however it's currently poor visibility, and she doubt the minion struck true to the wily little fey. She doesn't want to waste her expendable magics on anything just yet, since she has a feeling that there'll be tougher foes later on. The music is still continuing from earlier, of course.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 1) = 6

Jinkin Ambush - Round 1 - concluded

While Karina's attack misses against the jinkin, Alpha's needles, though not cold iron, prove effective enough. The spell sprays the metal shards at the sneaky gremlin, and they pierce its flesh in a number of places, enough places to end the fight with another dead jinkin.

End of Combat

Alpha takes the only wound of this fight and is at 12/17 hp. You earn 40xp for defeating the gremlin and 30xp more for the trap triggered by Zaria. Should be at something like 340/1000xp now.


The opening to the north seems to be a narrow ledge that overlooks a rubble strewn cavern. The ceiling here opens up to more than 10' in height, if you are the lower level. The far wall of the cavern is made of smooth dark grey metal. A single circular door, tightly closed, sits on the metal wall just above the level of the rubble.

One large jinkin, about twice the size of the ones you have seen, and two of more normal ones, sit amid the rubble, staring up at your light source on the ledge above. So far, they have made no aggressive moves.

From the back, Alpha-47 plainly states, "We have come to exterminate you from these caves at the behest of the other cave dwellers. Lay down your arms and prepare yourselves to be executed," Nodding, his amber eyes glowing faintly, his wound still leaking faint nanites.

Karina draws her viol to her from a distance using spirit object once again, and holds it in her hand alternate her lute. She'd rather they give the jiokin a chance to flee... but it looks like there's already a fight, so she braces for it.
