Mira Damaris |

Mira fishes a copper out of her pack and tosses it into room to see what happens.
If nothing happens, she walks into the room herself.
If the coat turns into a floating object, she fishes out some rope and offers one end to her party. "Alright. Who wants to float? Tie this to yourself and I'll hold and anchor you and pull you back after you fish those things out of there."

Mira tosses the coin into the chamber and it floats with everything else!
The small black lightning runes that pop up here and there are slightly more concerning, but not likely dangerous. There seems to be an intelligence to them... almost like an echo of the past trying to convey a thought... Just the GM here, this is not particularly relevant to the story, but would have meant a little more if we were playing the entire Adventure Path. Just giving a lot of flavor here! Maybe even giving ideas for Downtime when we jump ahead for Seven Dooms.
Mira, are you being the anchor?

Mira Damaris |

Aye captain, I'm the anchor.
Assuming Ziel begins to float ...
Mira's eyes goes wide and she slowly shakes her head, "By Sarenrae’s flaming breath! He’s flying!"

Ziel Dosomal |

Once Ziel begins to float, his sour face melts away into surprise, then the whimsy only a genius would get.
“It’s levitation magic!” he cackles, moving as if he was swimming, “I have no idea how, but it’s permanet levitation magic! Nethys knows how long this has been around!”
He goes to investigate the runes. The elf frowns a bit, checking his belongings to see if he carries his journal to take notes. “Damn. We need to return later. There’s a lot of things I need to take notes for when we’re done with this fiasco.”

We will assume that Ziel is the point man, based on Exploration activity...
Ziel gingerly tries to make his way through the mess of floating debris, gagging as he passes through the cloud of maggots. All thoughts of that pass as he notices the label on the bottle of wine... Foxglove Vinyards, a nice vintage too! Not long after, he comes across the scroll which he notes has some arcane script, and the twisted iron wand looks proper magical! Finally, the book seems to be well-worn but written in a strange tongue. A quick tug signals Mira to pull Ziel back to the group. The magic will take a little time to identify, and you could use some time to investigate the book...
Next move? Back up, or check the other hall? Map updated.

Snag the Shadowcaster |

"Strange room. Snag not sure if it a threat." Snag says with a distrustful look around the room.

![]() |

Anything else in this room? Ziel wants to head back to the Dragon, but you still have one more set of double doors to check...

Snag the Shadowcaster |

"Snag say finish area before group head back. Too much danger to leave early." Snag says.

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag shakes his head at Anthony and says, "Group avoid doom. Snag not ready for doom."

Mira Damaris |

"Why are we talking about doom?" Mira asks confused. "Let's just finish what we set out to do so we can be done with this place. I'm not ready to head back quite yet."
She urges them ever-forward.

You make it down to the shrine and the double doors at the end of the hall. A quick look from Ziel confirms that the doors are not trapped.
Beyond the double doors is a huge room that looks like nothing more than an immense underground cathedral. Furthermore, the walls are carved with strange, spiky runes. In the center of the room is a large pool, with a ring of polished human skulls balanced on stone spikes arranged in a circle around the deeper midsection. At the far end of the room, a pair of stone stairways leads up to a pulpit on which sits a second pool, this one triangular and filled with churning, bubbling water that looks almost like translucent lava. Yet while wisps of what look like heat and steam rise from the strange orange liquid, the room itself is deathly cold.
Standing at the edge of the pool is a tiny demon creature that spins to shriek at you, You dare to intrude on the Mother's sanctum?!?
She quickly cuts her palm, dripping blood into the pool, causing it to roil and sputter! Immediately, you see one of those Wrathspawn emerge, fully armored from the pool! As it does, those of you more magically inclined notice that the glow emanating from the pool dim...

Mangrove moves further into the room, raising his shield as inspires everyone to push through this encounter.
The wrathspawn in front of Mira snarls, twirling its ranseur toward her, but fortunately for her it slipps in waters of the fountain, missing. Overconfident, she lowers her shield slightly, allowing the sinspawn to bury it's second attack into her chest. It swings again, but misses.

One after another, all of Snag's missiles slam into the demonic creature, continuining to wrack up the wounds on it.
The poor weasel flops about helplessly in the water, unable to help anyone including itself. So, Anthony does it all by himself. Waiting until the most opportune moment, he finds an opening and delivers a critical strike that finishes off the creature in the fountain.
Only the demon is left. Ziel is up!

Out of combat!

Mira Damaris |

Mira catches her breath, running around the room and up the stairs had her slightly winded. She turns to make sure everyone is alright before noticing she's the only injured party member.
She sits down on the top step, looking around the room and wondering aloud. "What is this place?!"

Anthony Slater, Human Warpriest |

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag looks around and says, "Snag not sure...but pool looks like portal for sinspawn creatures. Very dangerous."

Mira Damaris |

"Thanks, Anthony. I don't know what I'd do without your assistance." She offers him a warm reaffirming smile before looking down to Snag. "Yeah? What can you tell about it?"
Arcana or Occultism will get you info on that... Mira has none to help!
