Anthony swings as the comes down, but whiffs as it buries its teeth into Snag's neck and, after tearing a chunk of flesh out, flutters back to the safety of darkness!
Flat checks: 2d20 ⇒ (10, 2) = 12
The first quarrel thunks into the head again, but Mira fails to account for the fiend's falter and the second shot whistles past as the head falls in the air a bit... The shadows playing tricks on her!
The fiend seems very unsteady, flapping in the shadows... the sounds becoming erratic.

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag sends another set of bolts at the creature.
Well, three more missiles from Force Barrage.
Force Barrage with no Save: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1, 3) + 3 = 9

![]() |

Almost as if scooping shadow from his own, Snag hurls 3 inky-black bolts at the flying head and it bursts from the impact! Combat over!
As bits rain down, you can't help but notice the black veins visible on the neck and lower faces of both Lucien and Snag... They seem to radiate out from the wound.
Final count: Lucien is at 16/24 hp and Snag at 10/26.

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag sits down clutches his wound and croaks, "OW....help."
I need to wait ten minutes before I get my shield back. So now seems like a good time for a Medicine check if someone was so inclined.

Mira Damaris |

When the creature falls for good, Mira spins to check on her allies, knowing they suffered during the fight. Snag's plea for help is all it takes for her to take a knee beside him and begin to bandage up his wounds. "Forgive me, I'm not the best at this but I will try to ease your pain."
Medicine DC15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 HP: 4d8 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 2) = 10

![]() |

Mira, you find that no matter what medicinal techniques that you try, nothing seems to work on the festering wound...
Anthony made the check for his Recall Knowledge and can explain... It seems a shame to waste that natural 20...

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag tries to ease his own wounds.
Well, let's try some magical healing. I cast Soothe on myself.
Soothe: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

![]() |

Snag, make an Occult/Arcana counteract check, DC 18, please. Whichever is your spellcasting skill.

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Occult: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

![]() |

As Snag works his magicks, the wound closes a bit, but not completely. The black veins recede with the healing, but remain around the scar...
How this will work is, you and Lucien can only be healed with magical healing until you completely heal up to max, and even then, the caster will need to make a counteract check (DC 18) to overcome the curse that the two of you are under. Once healed to full, the curse is broken.

Anthony Slater, Human Warpriest |

Counteract Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Heal spell w/healing hands on Snag: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Treat Wounds on Lucien: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19for: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 6) = 13
Treat Wounds on Lucien ten minutes later: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27for: 4d8 ⇒ (7, 7, 1, 3) = 18

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag smiles at Anthony and says, "Thank you. Snag feel much better now.

![]() |

Anthony, Lucien is cursed as well. Your Treat Wounds are ineffective. Your character would know this before you try. Since you made the Recall Knowledge check. If you recall, he was bitten first in the combat!

Mangrove |

"Maybe we need to pump more magic into it. It still looks nasty".
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14: Cast Soothe
Counteract:'
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

![]() |

That does it!
As Mangrove's magic song fills the room, Lucien's wound closes and the black veins fade and return to a more normal hue...
Okay, make sure you note your expended spell slots and what is the next move? Continue through the next door?

Mira Damaris |

She sighs standing, watching Anthony do his work. "We are quite fortunate to have your skills!"
Mira looks confused. "I'm not the best with healing, but this seems like it should have helped? A little? Does anyone know what is the matter?"

Lucien Lightfoot |

Lucien pats Manny on the back after his song closes the wound, and removes the ugly blackness from around it edges. "Much better, my friend! Thanks. Everyone patched up? Where to now?"

Snag the Shadowcaster |

"Snag use many spells, but ready for next door." Snag says as he orders Shade to move in front of him.

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag recasts his Shield before they move on.
We did the heal checks even if they failed so the 10 minutes has passed. We got super lucky on the DC 19 checks though. The fact that is a skill check now is sad for non-Int casters.

![]() |

Clerics can use Religion for their casting check, so there is that... ;) So I am assuming you are taking the Repeat a spell Exploration action?

Snag the Shadowcaster |

For Exploration I would do the Detect Magic action. I just cast a spell with 10 minute duration before we open the next door. It might not be up when something happens, but such is life.

![]() |

I guess I was just confused by the shield casting... Were you perhaps just checking to see that it recharged after the shattering?

Snag the Shadowcaster |

We made Medicine checks so the durations of when I cannot cast should have past. I was just putting it up before we went through the next door.

![]() |

Moving on...
After a little discussion, you continue through the nearest door, finding that there does not seem to be anything on the other side. The stairs lead a short ways leading to a flight of spiral stairs that wind up a circular pillar into darkness above.
Sending his divine light up into the darkness, Anthony finds that whatever structure that this led to, it has long since collapsed and leads to a dead end...
--
Back to the statue room and that door there? (Map updated)

Lucien Lightfoot |

"Thought I heard something behind this door, but now I don't. Not sure what's there, but I hope it's not one of them floating heads again. One of those was enough...Do you want to push through?

Mira Damaris |

Mira nods to Lucien, "Whatever it is, we need to do our best to remove it. We can't have anything from down here come up into the town, now can we?"

Lucien Lightfoot |

Lucien surreptitiously rolls his eyes thinking that "town" has resources to deal with these kinds of things, but keeps his mouth shut, and attempts to opne the door silently and carefully as possible, after inspecting for traps.
Not sure what's needed from a roll here, but Lucien Perception is +7 and his Stealth is +9

This large chamber contains twenty cells that line the room’s perimeter, somewhat like a prison. A rickety wooden platform overlooks
the room, with two flights of stairs descending to the prison floor ten feet below. A five-foot-wide wooden walkway runs from the northern edge of
the platform to a passageway to the east.
You have a few moments to look around before a pair of figures drop down from the ceiling!

As Anthony swings a wild strike, the fleshwarped spawn of old Thassilon deftly slaps it aside!
Lucien, I believe you started adjacent to Sinspawn 2, correct?
The other abomination quickly takes advantage of Lucien's retreat and thrusts its ranseur at the halfling! Reactive Strike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Minimum damage. Does Lucien have Nimble Dodge?
Panicked, Lucien looses a pair of arrows, but they fly wide!

Snag the Shadowcaster |

Snag sends a bolt of black lightning arcing between the two creatures as Shade snaps at the one in front of it.
Cast x2, Attack x1. I believe I use my own actions and a single action on Shade does one attack. If that is incorrect let me know. Shades bite has Trip, so I noted it, but I believe he has to attack to trip and he will rarely do that.

Snag's arc of lightning, hits the both of the Wrothspawn, sending electricity coursing through their bodies!
