With Merlin leading the way (with his shield up, of course), you enter the basement.
The air in this basement is damp and musty-smelling. The walls and floor are packed earth, while dozens of gourds hang from the ceiling beams. A sludge of rotting plant matter covers the floor. Against one wall, a wooden table holds a strange apparatus that looks like a clockwork toy of a snake-bodied, six-armed woman holding a sword in each hand. A tightly corked bottle, filled with what looks like water, sits before the statue.
A wooden chest covered with engraved runes stands under the table, and a sinister image of a star surrounding a goat’s face is painted on the wall above the table.

Krakas wrinkles his nose as he steps into the damp basement, the musty air thick with the stench of rotting vegetation. “Well, this is... charming,” he says dryly, gesturing toward the goat-faced star. “Nothing screams ‘we’re the good guys’ like some good old-fashioned demonic iconography.”
He gestures toward the rune-covered chest under the table, his tail twitching with tension. “I’d wager whatever’s in there is important—or dangerous. Maybe both. Anyone here good with traps or wards? This thing practically screams ‘open me at your own peril.’”

Everybody else is already meandering when Tabil enters the room. He quickly scans the place with a curious gaze that sets on the table with the statue and flask on them. The macabre image only further drawing attention to the area. "Stop moving, friends.", Tabil calls out audibly, but trying to keep his voice somewhat low. "Step away from the table, slowly, yes..."
Once everyone made sufficient distance, he sighs with relief. "You would be right, cambion habibi." he points to the table. "That arrangement is most certainly crafted with malice in mind. Can anyone of you magically gifted types move things at range?"

After a few moments of searching in her pack, Perla brings out a crowbar and thieves tools. She says " I have some tools that may be useful, is there anything here you can use? I can maybe try to shoot the tripping wire if there is one. What seems to be the major harm here?" She clearly was not an expert on magical traps, but had some knowledge of game traps.

"Although I normally use minor magic just to clean and tidy things, it can also be used to lift something, not much more than 12 inches or so, but at a range of about 10' - truth be told, I planned to meditate for a telekinetic cantrip and haven't had a lot of time recently."

He smiles in return and pulls out his own leather roll, if a bit aged. "My friend, I appreciate the offer. And he moves closer to the table, pulls out something akin to shears to get ready to cut the cable. But at the same time, getting ready to snatch the bottle at the very same moment...

As soon as the message finishes, one of the arms of the toy on the table swings down, shattering the bottle in front of it. Upon shattering, some truly noxious-smelling fumes fill the air.
