GM Nomadical |
Sorry for the extended absence and the issue with the slides. And thanks to Grump for helping out.
In explanation, I was in China (Chongqing and Shanghai) for the better part of the week. My VPN only worked on my phone via mobile data, and the hotels were blocking VPN usage via their wifi. The Paizo forums aren't blocked by the Great Firewall, but all Google products are. I thought I updated that slide by hotspotting through my phone so I could get to Google slides. So I was able to seamlessly post the text, but for whatever reason my update to the slide didn't take effect.
I hadn't had any layovers in the PRC since before the pandemic, so in the future, I'll have to be more mindful of that issue. Thanks for the help and patience.
But now I'm on my days off for the rest of the month, hanging out in both Hua Hin and Bangkok, Thailand, so I'll be able to easily post and keep us moving. Gameplay post coming later this morning (Asia time.)
Kōlēfō |
I'm leaving for a business trip today and may not be able to post again until next Friday (the 25th).
My character will be moving a lot and trick attacking every round (the macro is in my bio; he'll use the underwater disintegrator while submerged and usually the pistol otherwise).
Tarifa Moulin |
I am also away on a business trip, with variable access to email. I'll try to keep up, but I may need botting periodically. Tari does Clever Attack when possible and relevant. She usually keeps a frag grenade prepped for her bombard ability.
GM Nomadical |
If they are affected by mental effects, she will Clever Attack. If not she will curse fluently and then shoot them anyways. Also weaknesses are a good thing to know.
Clever Attack, Clever Feint and the basic Bluff check associated with them aren't Mind Affecting or Mental Effects. Clever Feint has the Sense Dependent tag, but not the Mind Affecting tag. It does say, "You can’t use clever feint against a creature that lacks an Intelligence score." But that caveat doesn't make it "mind-affecting."
These robots have senses and have an Intelligence score, so yes, they can be Clever Attacked.
Tarifa Moulin |
Thank you. I've gotten conflicting rulings on that (or maybe I'm thinking PF2...). :D
Azzirm T'sash |
Sorry...thought this was a full round...Azzirm would have just fired...not done miracle worker...that will be next round. Current AC is EAC 31/KAC 32
Azzirm T'sash |
Just a thought...I know there has been 'many many' fights on Haste with Power armor on the increase of speed (enough that I gave up reading them in MULTIPLE forums/discords). I am (and have always been in pre- and post- power armor characters) in the camp that the +30 increase in speed does not work on Power Armor. I do get the extra move action if I use a Full attack though.
So...I still only will get 15' move while walking on the bottom...but I can at least full attack, and move (either before, during or after....)
Though if anybody wants to have a lively discussion on this we can ;-)
And just a heads up on the power armor and this electrical field....while Grump hasn't told us all this yet (at least it didn't sound like it)....Reminder that for weapon and armor (and equipment) you craft is counted as 2 levels higher...if anybody does that.....
Experimental Power Armor Mechanic counts theirs as 5 levels higher...which I hope that +15 to Fort Saves helps....having his armor 'broken' will suck....
And to finish a quick rant...the Eels have this Electrical Aura..but are not immune....or resistant to Electricity? If what GM Nomadical said...my electrical and fire did the full damage..... Mind Boggled....

Yeah, I'm not gonna wade into that. I figure those with class features and unusual mechanics (small "m") know their builds better than I, and I trust them on it (for the most part.) Full attack plus extra move action for 15 feet sounds right.
Thanks for pointing out the caveat about self-built gear. The DC is only 17, so your armor will only fail the save on a Nat 1, which you would have anyway.

Yep. Not immune to electric or any resistance to Fire. Agreed it seems weird to give them immunity to Cold instead, but talk to Godek and the editors.
Azzirm T'sash |
From what I understand about our oceans....deep ocean is real cold...near freezing. So cold immunity sounds right.
Also...just looked up electric eels...interesting fact they can be shocked (though probably not killed) by other eels...
Learn something everyday....

Can we use the item's Fort save if it's better than yours?
Never mind, I just reread the entry.
Do armor upgrades and fusions need separate rolls or are they considered part of the equipment?
GM Nomadical |

I think they are considered part of the equipment. I don't know where it says that specifically, but if you wearing the armor lets you use your save for the armor, I don't see why an upgrade installed into the armor would even require a separate save.
So, No, no separate rolls needed AFAIK.
Grump Gunderson |
Good enough - I'd based Grump's roles on 1) gear he'd likely be using in the next round & 2) if it was a different level than the armor.
Azzirm T'sash |
I won't likely be checking anything until Sunday evening. Going to go run
Through Sea and Storm up in Fort Wayne for the crew up there....
GM Nomadical |
And I'm attending a small Con in NE Florida this weekend. If I have a session that doesn't fire (and if Yith has posted), I'll try to post, but otherwise please don't expect anything from me until Sunday evening (US Eastern)
Azzirm T'sash |
Azzirm might be one of the few who has heavy weapons proficiency...and since it is also a powered weapon, I can fire the gun and overcharge it too...
I am at +14 with my versatile Weapon Focus with it.
I don't think there is much Engineering I can do to help with getting the ship to do better...the one thing I might have done (Miracle Worker) was used in the last fight.
Kōlēfō |
Kōlēfō is the logical choie for pilot, but I have failed something like a dozen skill checks in a row in the other game I'm in with Nomadical and don't have my reroll available, so maybe someone with 1 point less would like to take the wheel.
GM Nomadical |
That's not my fault! Or Ra'uf's, really, either. He is playing out of tier, remember, and a level-bump helps, but not that much.
Tarifa Moulin |
Tari also has heavy weapons proficiency (hooray Soldier dip!)
She can do any of the following, assuming they are allowed by the GM:
- be the pilot
- encourage the pilot or the gunner
- auto-aid the pilot or gunner
- +15 gunnery for the vehicle weapon
- +12 with her own weapon
- grenades, a grenade launcher (60 ft), and Far Shot
- Get 'Em (Long-Range Improvisation)
- Clever Feint/Attack (Long-Range Improvisation)
- Perception +13 to watch out for dangers ahead.
Oooh, actually, could she kitbash some Eel Distractions out of her grenades (using Bluff ideally)? Aiming somewhere along our wake, but disrupting it so it's harder to follow? She's a bombard soldier so used to creating booms out of nothing.

I'm inclined to allow pretty much all of those. But I like the combo of Bombard Soldier and Envoy crafting custom grenades that distract the Eel using Bluff to slow it down. Sure!
Personally, I'm a huge fan of creative solutions that allow Players (me included when I'm on that side of the screen) to utilize the class features and unique combo's that arise because of how customizable Paizo makes their systems.
Grump Gunderson |
Grumps's well-trained as a pilot (+18) & he still has a reroll available.
If our operative feels he's be better off elsewhere, Grump will handle the raft.
Kōlēfō |
I will note that the Autopilot is better than any of us. Maybe we should all just aid friend computer?
But if not, the helm is yours, Grump.
Grump Gunderson |
Guessing we're in the wrap-up phase of things?
Going to drop Grump's Downtime/DayJob roll in here.
Note that he's a Tier 4 Acquisitive with the Known Quality boon, so 8x the die roll result.
Profession: Asteroid Miner Downtime: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
So, 42 x 2 x 4 = 336 credits.
Kōlēfō |
Kōlēfō is also a Known Quality.
Profession (Writer): 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24
His latest novel ends up in the clearance rack within weeks, but still earns him 192 credits.
Yith-Naarin |
No day job for Yith.
Fun game all. having missed the first one the NPC's, factions and politics had me a bit confused for a while until I was able to sit down for half an hour and really read through the game so far. :)
GM Nomadical |
There's a last bit back at the Lorespire Complex, but I'll wait for anyone that wants to RP with Elthel and Roros.
I'll try to do reporting tomorrow, 5 Oct, cause, well, it's my birthday. Chronicles will be up then also. But I'm flying both the night before and the night of, so no promises.
Azara Thenason |
Yes, Happy Birthday! My wife's is on the 7th.
Profession (Poet): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
Azara's latest epic poem is no better than Kolefo's novel, but people are less likely to buy it off his name, alone.
"How can I be derivative of myself?" Azara says in an interview when answering complaints that his new work is just a rehash of his last work and not a real sequel.
Azara Thenason |
As an aside: we got one of those giant skeletons for Halloween and it's hard to really imagine how big 12' tall is until you see it. I only come up to it's pelvis.
Azzirm T'sash |
Yeah, happy birthday there Nomadical. I hope you have a great day (minus being at work).
Tarifa Moulin |
Hippo birdies!
Profession, Known Quality: 1d20 + 24 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 24 + 1 = 43
43x2x4 = 344 credits
GM Nomadical |
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. As my gift to you, the session is reported and your chronicles are here.
(Edited. Please try the link above again.)
I'll be taking a break from starting any new sessions until Gameday is over. I've got some personal stuff to take care of, but I expect I'll be back to it in Dec. See you all, then!
Kōlēfō |
Sadly, I cannot open the gift. Maybe you have to tell Google we are entitled to party favors?
Kōlēfō |
Working now, and the chronicle looks good.
Thanks for a great game, everyone, especially Nomadical for running!
Grump Gunderson |
Had a great time playing with this crew.
And especially with Nomadical as the GM.
Once he gets around to cycling up another session, shoot me a line if you'd like me to join for another session.
Tarifa Moulin |
Looks good! I had a fabulous time RPing with y'all.
And Nomadical, you did a great job keeping us moving and together. I had a blast!
Azara Thenason |
My sheet looks good and it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: this was a great group to play with and Nomadical was awesome as a GM, as always.
Azzirm T'sash |
Sheet looks good. Thanks Nomadical. Had fun playing a scenario before actually running it for once.
Had fun with you all....in general we did great! Okay...some of us just had bad dice rolls. And now that I am prepping this....GOOD grief...that end chases baddy....there was no way we were going to hit it on less than a nat 20....
Now...to run this at Cincity Con in 3 weeks or so....
GM Nomadical |
I'm glad everyone had fun. Thanks to you all for good RP; that makes it much more fun for me, too. I'll close this campaign thread on or about the 13th.
