It's that time of year again, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! I will be off on my Christmas trip home until the 3ed of Jan. Posting should continue, but may be spotty (so bot me if need be).

Likewise and merry new year to everyone!

My niece and her family are in town for New Years. They will be here until the 2nd. We should be able to resume after that although I can do short posts and answer questions.

I'm mildly confused. We opened the doors to a room back on the 18th.
Finding the doors unlocked, Ratel shifts his long spear into his left hand and opens the doors with his right, keeping a keen eye out as he goes.
perception:1d20+8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Bigguns, always rush rush... Wait! He shoulders his way closer to the door, giving it the once over.
Perception, trapfinding: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40
you find neither trap nor lock.We chattered about the room we entered until yesterday when you told us
4-22 The floor is covered with straw. The large doors will creak
ponderously when opened unless silenced or repaired first.Ratel and Ciri, make a DC25 reflex save
Sorry. The shield is actually in room 4-20
I totally get that you gave us the information about the wrong room, but is there any reason you didn't apply No-mi-names perception roll to the 'trap' Ratel and Ciri fell into?
It's also odd that everyone posted that they'd moved into the room, but the only people that fell in were the ones who'd moved themselves on the map. It seems that Ratel and Ciri are being punished for putting their icons on the map where they describe themselves to be in game, whereas those not using the map get a pass.
Terodius Mitrakin |
Gotta admit, I was posting without keeping up with the map over Christmas.
Not sure what the trigger is on the pit trap, but Ratel is right, a bunch of us would have walked through it going to investigate the smoke (including me).

Looking at it, No-Mi-Name's roll is on the door, not the floor. If he had trap sense I would have applied it as he got within 10' of it. He is a scout Transmuter. Not really a trap specialist but his roll would find almost any trap in here. To be honest, I did not see it when I redid the rooms. I just took the two that would have to have walked through the area of the trap.

while that may be what he intended, Ratel had already opened the door, what good would a perception for traps be on an opened door? But if you didn't see the post it wouldn't make any difference anyway. I appreciate you pointing out you switched the rooms and that you didn't see the post, but to then randomly punish the two folks that moved their icons into a room they though had a fire pit in the middle is just unfortunate. On the positive side we are at least moving again. Sort of....

Hope everyone stays safe over the next few days. It's supposed to get nasty. Even in San Antonio we're supposed to have freezing rain.Southern Ohio got hammered, we only got about three inches of snow, so I went out and shoveled the sidewalks yesterday. Closest thing to exercise I've seen in years.
I'll cast Neutralize poison on Ratel. "Ciri how bad are you hurt? Give me a sec and I can help you with what happened."
Ratel made his save, so he doesn't need the spell, but anything to fix his strength loss would be awsome.

I am duly and most notably insulted... nay, offended! :)
No-Mi-Name is most certainly a trap specialist... oui, oui!
He got:
Trap Sense +1 (Ex) +1 bonus on reflex saves and AC against traps.
Trap Spotter (Ex) Whenever you come within 10' of a trap, the GM secretly rolls for you to find it.
Trapfinding +2 Gain a bonus to find or disable traps, including magical ones.
He is a Scout, but that archetype does not give up Trap stuff, it gives up Uncanny Dodge.
Not picking on the DM, just clarifying. Stuff happens, sorry if I didn't call it out!
Ratel Dier |
Wait a second does no-mi-name speak french? How's the goblin get two languages and the Paladin doesn't.... or is goblin actual french....hmmmmm

I need new glasses as I searched for trap spotter, grr. He would have found them once he searched.
Ratel Dier |
Ok I'm confused who took the strength damage? Ciri or Ratel?
Both, RAtel took 3 pts str damage then made his second save. Ciri took 4 pts of str damage and you cast Neutralize poison.

Busy man, don't be hard on your self. We shall overcome!
Ratel Dier |
"Well I'd like to do that room so we don't have to come back"
I'm cool if you all want to tear the boards off of the blocked door. I was trying to picture it like a paladin on a mission. "There to destroy the evil" not search every room that 'the evil' boarded up. But maybe it's a good guy that will help us....
Ratel Dier |
I figure it might be worth checking out. From what I've read of the backstory, this dungeon has a lot of "help drops" scattered around...
Ahhhh metagaming, I think I'd have rather you kept that to yourself...

Scouts are rogues, they have trap finding andsneak attack, trap sense and evasion, they don't have uncanny dodge at 4th
and 8thThey instead get the charge and skirmish instead
Ratel Dier |
If unable to climb out of pit, will d hop.
I posted earlier that Ratel lifted her out, but, I think it's irrelevant since Brv saidTaking the rope in one hand he puts the other around Ciri, "Come on, let's get out of here."
Pulling himself and Ciri out of the pit, Ratel nods to Terodius, "Thanks." looking towards The dwarf he asks, "Thoron, the poison in the pit has sapped our strength, do you have a prayer that may fix it?"
in case it's needed
[dice=Climb DC 5]1d20+3=(14)+3=17
Ok, belay the damage. No-mi-name found and disabled the trap. The problem of taking off two weeks for the holidays. Let's move forward
ok, I will reverse the trap damage then!

There are a few areas in this module that were designed to be very difficult to overcome such as a trap or a lock. Maybe something is trying to tell you something?
Ratel Dier |
Treasure: One suit of full plate, two chain shirts, a gold hilted scimitar, a mace (Viridontii’s special mace, 2-21-E) , a
agate, a peridot, three quartz gems, a gold necklace, and a pair of
silver slippers sewn with seep pearls.
what room was this treasure in?
Ratel Dier |
Am I correct in that we have split the party? it sounds and appears that some of us are on the southeastern corner and headed towards the cave, and others have gone to the northern door for 18B, in area 18A.
Terodius Mitrakin |
Apparently, yes... Ciri has gone through the northern door in 18A, rather than the one in 22.
But it doesn't sound like she's found a fight; rather, a pile of treasure... I would suggest ID'ing it if possible (ie figure out what's magic, if anything - "Viridontii's special mace, 2-21-E"), and then we continue on the way we're headed.
