ummm, the Belt of variable Density is absolutely nuts! I see it has six settings, does this thing have unlimited use, or what?
Terodius Mitrakin |
Terodius, you will be in the next room being tortured by a wizard and a sorceress. Your stuff is stacked in the corner. You and Ratel are currently at 9 hp. You are gagged with hands and feet tied.
From the gamethread:
Ciri, there is a guy tied and gagged in this room. He appears to be a half-orc.
I assume that the wizard and the sorceress are currently on smoke break or somesuch...

Brv, what is the platinum bracelet of friends do? And I know what the gauntlets of ogre power used to do, what do they do now?
With everyone's permission Ratel will claim from the list: a courtiers outfit, a + 2 chain shirt to wear while sleeping (or the unidentified one if it's better), Ring of Force Shield, +2 glass-steel demon bane longspear, +1 cold iron greatsword, silver dagger, + 2 amulet of natural armor, +2 full plate (from Tirian's stash), a + 2 ring of protection, finally, possibly the bracelet, possibly the gauntlets of ogre power, and possibly the belt of variable density.

Ok, a couple of Q's a bout the "Free Pick List"
1) Jim, why haven't you picked up a chain shirt +2 to upgrade from your Leather Lamellar +1? (It's +2 AC, I think; +1 in enhancement bonus and another +1 in Max Dex). I will also note there are two Un-ID'd chain shirts which might be even further upgrades...
2) I think the party only found 1 ring of Force Shield, HERE.
And I think several people are wearing it ...
Ciri
Jhenn/Victoria Jinn
Ratel (post above)
3)Things Terodius would want
+2 lion’s shield embossed with the Lion of Mitra in red and gold (or one of the other +2 steel shields)
+2 Breastplate
+2 ring of protection (there are several)
The Rattlesnake Whip (I am proficient and carry a couple for utility tricks).
+2 Chain shirt (for sleeping, as Ratel above. If there isn't one left after Jim and Ratel, once we figure out the Un-ID'd ones, I'll grab one of those).
4) To confirm what the Ring, Belt and Eye of Mitra do as a combo
Thoron is permanently radiating a Widened (20' radius) Magic Circle vs Evil (CL 20). Any evil creature within 20' of him take 1d8 smite dmg per melee round. He is affected by a personal Prayer effect (does radiate, only affects him and those attacking him). He is affected by Globe of Invulnerability (continuously, 10' radius, any spell of 4th level or below does not take affect - does this suppress the other effects of the Ring/Belt/Eye combo?).
Terodius Mitrakin |
@Brvheart, a dumb question. This is a old (AD&D) module right... Are the map square 10X10 (the way old modules used to be - this would give everyone a lot more room to maneuver and make the furniture closer to scale) or 5X5 (how you currently have the PC's scaled...)?
Ratel Dier |
Look at the larger rooms, the map itself has a grid that is 10 ft, and we are 5 ft. I think the smaller grid your seeing is 'snap to' grid on roll 20.

yes but use it too much and it overheats and gets side effects

good choices, but can I trade you a +1 Amulet for a bid on the +2, I am on the frontline a lot and can't wear armor.
Also, the silver dagger is +1, what about that +2 greatsword also.
Response:
Not correct, I picked up mine here and we just got another, the one Jhenn has is one she came with as part of here creation at 8th level, she only picked up the holy sword and the soul stone and is a npc, she no longer gains xp and does fight unless the lions command her to or if it meets her special purpose (demons),
Ring of force shield is a common item.....

Sweet, I took the + 1 cold iron greatsword in case he needs it for DR, same the silver dagger, though happy it's + 1.
A little confused about the amulet, the only amulet I listed was the + 2 natural armor. Did you mean the platinum bracelet of friends? What does it do I couldn't find it on the pfsrd, as well as the ogre gauntlets do they change or add anything?
Also, headed out of town today, will be away from the computer until tonight. I may be able to borrow my daughter's computer, but I hate using my phone. So, posting may be less than normal.

platinum bracelet of friends:
Aura: strong conjuration; CL: 15th
Price: 19,000 gp; Weight: &mdash
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTSCost: 9,500 gp; Requirements: Craft Wondrous Item, refuge;
DESCRIPTIONThis silver charm bracelet has four charms upon it when created. The owner may designate one person known to him to be keyed to each charm. (This designation takes a standard action, but once done it lasts forever or until changed.) When a charm is grasped and the name of the keyed individual is spoken, that person is called to the spot (a standard action) appearing at the user's location along with his gear, as long as the bracelets's owner and the called person are on the same plane. The keyed individual knows who is attempting to teleport him, and the bracelet of friends only functions on willing travelers. Once a charm is activated, it disappears. Charms separated from the bracelet are worthless. A bracelet found with fewer than four charms is worth 25% less for each missing charm.
on the gauntlets, make them +1 hit/dam and Grant proficiency with ogre weapons, and Grant weapon damage one size step up.
Or it could set your strength to 19 with the increase size damage

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Just sub a +2 STR item for the gauntlets. These work as gauntlets rather than a belt.

It was, but was rescaled for 3.5, so should be correct, but if Greg says so, we can enlarge the rooms, roll20 has trouble scaling correctly.
Please make sure to add items you took, I am removing them from inventory and throneglass seems equivalent to glass steele.

of sonic damage to all creatures except for the wielder.
There is no save against this effect.

Mitra’s Favor (The Lion Ring) A lion headed, gold ring with topaz eyes. It radiates a continuous protection from evil spell as if cast by a 20th level Cleric. At the beginning of the game it is in the possession of old Cornelius the Cleric of Mitra. Joined with this ring is the spirit of a Lion of Mitra (see The Lions of Mitra) named George, Prince of the High Peaks and Champion of the Faith. He tends to be jovial and is often given to singing benign tavern ditties. He was a Paladin, and died heroically two centuries previously at the hands of the Dervishes, whom he still has a disliking for. (Something along the line of how Dwarves feel about Goblins. Keep that in mind when playing him.) Unlike other Mitraic artifacts where it seems the lion assigned to you doesn’t seem to answer or is hard to summon, George is quite the opposite in that he seems to never go away. He has the ability to telepathically communicate to you from the ring as a constant commune spell, constantly giving advice and singing tunes loudly to irritate you when you seem not to listen; he considers it in his own interest to protect you as that means less time trying to save you.
Think of him like an overprotective father who likes to have fun with his children. He won’t speak to anyone or give them his name when they first get the ring, he watches to find out if the person is good or not. For combinations of the ring and other Mitraic artifacts, see below. The Ring is located in the Village, Area 1(V1); Strong abjuration and conjuration; CL 20th; Forge Ring; divination, protection from evil, planar ally, searing light.
The Girding of Mitra (The Lion Belt) An actual relic, this is the belt worn by Mitra when he walked the earth as a man. It radiates a powerful Magic Circle against Evil and if combined with the Amulet (Mitra’s Eye) it will form a globe of invulnerability about the bearer as if cast by a 20th level Wizard. The spell may be dispelled only by removing one of the items from the bearer’s person or by depressing the topaz in the lion mouth of the amulet which will negate the globe of invulnerability only for 1d6 melee rounds. If combined with the ring (Mitra’s favor), the magic circle against evil spell will become a widened magic circle against evil. Any Evil creature(s) within that radius will suffer 1d8 points smite evil damage per round. When all three artifacts are combined, the ring can fire a searing light spells (CL 20th; at will). When all are combined, the bearer make activate from the belt an undeath to death spell, CL 20th (Will save DC 19 negates). All previously listed attributes for each artifact are usable when all three are combined. With the exception of the globe of invulnerability all individual powers may be turned on and off at will by the bearer. However, the bearer must be aware of the existence of a given power to be able to “turn it off”, otherwise that power will function continuously. The reverse is true of the undeath to death spell, which must be known of to be used and may be used once a day. Although the artifacts will not work for Evil types, mere possession of all three will permanently change Alignment of the possessor to Lawful Good in one month, one step a week. Two artifacts will change Alignment in three months. A Will DC 20 to resist is applicable. However, making the save will only double the conversion time. Joined with the belt is the spirit of one of the Lions of Mitra (see The Lions of Mitra). The spirit is known as Princess Jamalla the Wise, Holy of Holies, Mother of the Masses, Benefactress of the Poor, and Mitra’s Handmaiden. She appears as a vibrant and beautiful young fighting woman with flowing masses of red/gold hair. She is quick to accept any who are in the company of the wearer of the belt. She lived 300 years ago. She was a Dervish convert to Mithraism, who donated vast sums to the poor in Mitra’s name . Eventually she became mother superior (Clr 9; gains spell use at that level) of a convent of celibate female Clerics. She was sickly, frail and ugly all her life and now loves the position of Lion of Mitra. The Belt is located on Dungeon Level 2, Room 17 (2 -17); Strong varied; CL 20th; Craft Wondrous Item; magic circle against evil (widened), undeath to death, smite evil, greater planar ally.
Mitra’s Eye (The Lion Amulet) A lion headed amulet with a large topaz in its mouth; it is an Amulet of Amplification. It places the bearer under a continuous prayer spell that will add +1 luck.
bonus to attack, damage, AC, saves and skill checks. Enemies will take -1 on all abilities against you. When combined with the ring (see above), it will cause any Undead of 5 HD or less on a successful melee touch attack to be affected as if by a greater turning against undead by a 20th level cleric (see Sun domain), destroying them. If combined with the belt, the bearer gains a globe of invulnerability (see above). Joined with this amulet is the spirit of a Lion of Mitra (see The Lions of Mitra). He will appear when summoned by name or when the bearer of the Amulet is in danger of death. The Lion’s name is Charlamack the Just. He was a High Priest of Mitra 800 years ago (Clr 15; gains spell use at that level). His personality can usually be described as stiff, formal, and no-nonsense. He will not tolerate foolishness. He also does not appreciate being called more than once a week. He will mutter, “I have better things to be doing than this.” He will always voluntarily disappear after combat and any required healing. It is quite rare for Charlamack to stay around for more than 20 minutes. The Amulet is located on Dungeon Level 1, Room 15 (1-15); Strong Varied; CL 20th; Craft Wondrous Item; globe of invulnerability; greater planar ally; greater turning of undead; prayer.

Turning back and looking at Jim's pet goblin, Ratel shrugs, " The spear is long enough I can protect you if you can keep up."
Hey no-me-name, I'm cool if you want to take point, when I mean keep up, I really mean as a player. I will post mostly 8-5 est. but I obviously post in the evenings as well. I try to post a minimum of once a day. I will try not to sandwich anyone's post unless they are clearly speaking to me. But once someone posts a second post, if the team is not actively doing something, I will move on. Obviously if Brv or Ciri think I'm trying to go to fast I would hope they would say something.

I just saw an RP-tunity :)
And your Perception is like +8 vs +19/Hidden +23/Traps +25
It's all love!
Oh, I don't mind being sandwiched. You were fine, I thought.
Oh and "You know my name?" is a running gag, no one has answered. Technically, his name hasn't come up in-game.
Ratel Dier |
Obviously, I"m hoping no-me-name stays in front or near the front so we can use that high perception. If we establish a 'marching order' and SOP is we move as a group, then great.
If we've accomplished what we're doing and it's time to move. I'll normally post, something like, 'when everyone's ready" or 'Waiting for the others to near'
Obviously, if No-me-name starts down the hallway before Ratel, then Ratel will closely follow him.
brvheart |
This is the old marching order, two have left, Let's update it,
single:
Thoron, Fralk, Slim, Ciri, Jhenn, Faffnyr
double:
Thoron and Fralk, Slim and Ciri, Jhenn and Faffnyr with bringing up the rear.

We can go Fralk first! Please... :)
Terodius Mitrakin |
WRT to marching order,
First consideration: I assume that Jhenn is in the back because she's an NPC (although she's the best tank in the party with that artifact... she'll still make a dandy rear-guard).
Second: We have a LOT of people who want to get into melee (Fralk, Jim, Ratel, Terodius, Jhenn, and maybe Thoron too). Ratel can work from a second rank position with his lonspear, and so can Terodius (with a whip).
Third: what are we doing with a) the dire wolf, and b) Skelly and Orsen. Are they considered in the march order?
Single Order:
Fralk (scouting/trapfinding)
Ratel (reach weapon)
Jim
Terodius
Thoron
Ciri
Jhenn
Depending on how far ahead Fralk likes to scout, we might go to:
Fralk
Jim
Ratel
Terodius
Thoron
Ciri
Jhenn
Double Order -
Fralk & Jim,
Ratel & Terodius,
Thoron & Ciri,
Jhenn
Ratel Dier |
So in have I'd asked where I should be in the marching order, and Ciri said
In the front please and lead, we will follow, that way I can focus on my support as a spellcaster and not be always in the front ranks, Battle Wizard or not, still a wizard
So I started moving and had the conversation with no-me-name. Incidentally, Ratel may not get the little goblin, but I love him :)
First consideration: I assume that Jhenn is in the back because she's an NPC (although she's the best tank in the party with that artifact... she'll still make a dandy rear-guard).
I'm not sure what artifact she's wearing, but did you see what the Belt of variable density does? Ratel can go full Golem if he wants. He just needs to use it sparingly.
I'm happy for Ratel to take whatever position you all want, but my point was I will post to keep the game moving. The question is if we can assume when someone says their moving if everyone is moving or if just the person who posted. IF it's just the person who posted, the 'point' person may change.
brvheart |
Jhenn, the character has left it seems. The problem is she has the gem in her head which will even resurrect her a number of times of her CON then reincarnate afterwards. So the question is what to do with her? Kara has been running her as an NPC until Ratel came back. What is the parties thoughts? It is a rather important item.
Fralk ibn Sabbah |
Having a gem in your head is an acquired taste, not sure I'm there yet.
You mean important story-wise? Like we need the gem to complete the adventure or someone needs to have it because we should expect a TPK? Or... both.
LOL
brvheart |
You can complete the adventure, but it is a powerful item is all I am saying. It is always a question whether someone really wants to deal with a gem in their head. Some parties have said yes, some no. Both have completed the module.
Ratel Dier |

If we keep Jhenn in the shadows it gives us another option for combat if anyone else drops.

No Thoron, the Heart of the Law is impatable with the artifacs you already have.
"Slim" Jim |
I can't see Jim wanting a gem in his head, although his player recognizes and respects the power of that item.
Fralk ibn Sabbah |
Freaks is ahead mostly because he's a Trap Spotter (auto detect attempt) but hadn't been too concerned about stealth.
So, however far behind you like or feel safe being.
If you guys want stealth, however far the DM says is required.

Freaks is ahead mostly because he's a Trap Spotter (auto detect attempt) but hadn't been too concerned about stealth.
So, however far behind you like or feel safe being.

As much as I love the idea of someone sneaking ahead and coming back to tell us what's going, it may work at a table, but I've never seen it work well in PBP. I love the idea of No-me-Name (or do you prefer 'Freaks' I think this is the first time I've heard it) staying near the front watching for traps, not concerned with stealth and moving as a group. So the distance Ratel will stay behind him is 5 ft, or 5 ft in front if I post first :)

What does "arcane locked" mean?
Also, I'm so not used to having such a powerful magical item.

@Brvheart: You also seem to have also turned off all visibility on the map...
mines still showing but I needed to minimize it a bit to find it. We're on a different floor, The graphic is all the way to the left towards the top.

Break DC 38
It looked like No-me-Name was doing a disable device. You listed break DC 38, did you mean break or disable? Just checking before I consider having Ratel go 'golem' on it :)

No Thoron, the Heart of the Law is impatable with the artifacs you already have.
unfortunately I already have another intelligence in my head, my sword. Which would make it pretty crowded. It's like a marriage, you will be together a long time, so you better be compatible and common goals.
Her sword named Zireael it's a 200 year old gwyhyr, a very expensive and precious sword regarded as the best in the world, forged by the gnomes of Tir Tochair. It was given to her as a gift by Esterhazy, the armorer and swordsmith in the town of Fano.
A black blade is a particular form of intelligent weapon. There are several ways a mage might gain this weapon. Sometimes it just appears among the mage's possessions, and its origin is a mystery. Other times the mage finds a black blade during an adventure or event of some kind. Sometimes a black blade is passed down generation to generation in an ongoing search for a mage who can unlock its true potential. The mage chooses the blade's type upon gaining the blade. As a bladebound mage increases in level, her black blade gains power.
A black blade is independently conscious but features some personality traits reflecting its master. A black blade always has the same alignment as its master and even changes its alignment if its master does. The blade typically works toward its master's goals, but not always without argument or backlash. Each black blade has a mission, and while sometimes two or more black blades will work in concert, each mission is singular in purpose (the black blade's mission is usually up to the GM. Some black blades are very open about their missions, but most are secretive. Certain sages have speculated that an invisible hand or arcane purpose moves these weapons.

So Fralk? Or No-Me-Name? Does Ciri call you Nomi?
Yes Dear one, I call him Nomi like "Nome" because its simple, like the thief in the straw hat pirates Nami, but little freak works too ;).....just kidding.
FYI - as far as being comfortable having a power item, ok, so you see all magic, steal a little sometimes and use poison and helps your skills and defense a little, just build it into your stats since it's always on, Ophidian likes you Nomi.
The only choice is deciding what weapon or object it wants to be, default is 1d4 15 to 20 x2 crit, +2 but could be a Aldori dueling blade if you are proficient, or as the watchful bracelet that gets missed on a weapons search going into places, the hooded Cobra gauntlet buckler that covers your entire arm for defense or as a snake familiar attacking or seeking. Any item it becomes always has the red snake eye gem glowing to see magic and coiled like a snake motif.

If it's a break DC of 38, you can forget about the str check, golem or no golem. That's a nat 20 and +18 str bonus... What I'm not clear about from Arcane Lock is can you physically destroy (HP damage past hardness) the door? Even if it's got a +10 hardness from the spell, a wooden door would be Hardness 15 HP 20. An iron door would be Hardness 20 HP 60. That can be broken with the right tool (travellers anytool - I have it).

Also, WRT to the Heart of the Law, Terodius could (and would) take it (assuming Jhenn goes away) but I'd guess he'd get possessed and I doubt it likes inquisitors (as opposed to paladins).

wow, a Swiss army knife cool,
Nomi, why don't you change your blade into a adamantine warhammer and start wacking the door, that should do it. Might take a few rounds but ignores hardness. Who knows maybe will crit and steal its power.
Ps, Zireal is Gnomish, I like to hang with gnomes, like my friend Ester Hazy, so Nomi is Gnomish in my eyes in a good way. Another reason for the name, I like gnomes.
In reviewing the notes, second ring of force shield is here. The one Agent J was carrying and now Agent R is wearing.

@Brvheart, a dumb question. This is a old (AD&D) module right... Are the map square 10X10 (the way old modules used to be - this would give everyone a lot more room to maneuver and make the furniture closer to scale) or 5X5 (how you currently have the PC's scaled...)?
You are correct that is orginally a 10' square map which I divided into 4 in Roll20. The larger squares are 10', the smaller ones 5' It has always been a little off. In 10 years I have never been able to overlay it properly. Something about how Roll20 works.
