@Brvheart, given we are tracking XP, how many XP did Ratel and I start with? (Also, what XP track are we using?)

Fralk ibn Sabbah |

@Brvheart, given we are tracking XP, how many XP did Ratel and I start with? (Also, what XP track are we using?)
Tracking XP, but not individual. We level together.

Ratel Dier |

so is the best option to start damaging the door? Since Ratel is in 'golem mode' do we want him to start slamming it for damage?

Ratel Dier |

Unless it's already open I can use Stone Shape to bypass the door.
that sounds like a really good idea

Ratel Dier |

In the meantime you do hear conversation in room A through the door in the hall.
Is that the door to the north or what looks like a narrow hallway to the west.

brvheart |

brvheart wrote:In the meantime you do hear conversation in room A through the door in the hall.Is that the door to the north or what looks like a narrow hallway to the west.
The converstation is coming from the door to the north.

Ratel Dier |

Plan - Jim listens at the door. I cast dispel magic on the arcane lock. Fralk picks the lock. We jump the people on the other side. Everybody keep very quiet so the other side doesn't get a chance to get ready.
This may have worked better before Ratel spent six rounds banging on the door.
Just sayin' :)

Ratel Dier |

I know I am old and all, but let me try this again. The west wall has the door with the arcane lock on it. The north door appears to be unlocked and is the one that you hear a noise from. Which is a good thing because you aren't getting anywhere rolling a 1.
I think what happened was you identified the doors by the rooms identification number/letter, which we can't see.

brvheart |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

yeah, I figured as much which was why I made the letters visible.

Ratel Dier |

Realizing the goblins story explained a lot, Ratel is about to respond when the merchant produces wings and heads north. Reacting as Terodius yells 'Get the bastard' Ratel, moves forwards shifting his spear to both hands.
that's a 20ft move for ratel, will wait on the second half of the round until he learns what or where things are at in the room he entered. hm, golem mode is - 8 dex so a - 2 to init. so maybe ratel's reaction isn't first :)
[dice=init]1d20-2 or maybe it is, well see.
I realize my action maybe a little unorthodox. Not sure if we were in rounds yet or not. I wanted to see what was in the room before he tooks his second move or standard.

Ciri Princess of Cintra |

The Merchant, yes. He was Avaakris' son.
I knew he was Avvakris deformed son, but thought him a simpleton merchant, never realized this potential outcome.
We did this unwittingly giving him consolidated power, no sharing, no committee.
So if Nomi has education, why is his common broken still??

Fralk ibn Sabbah |

So if Nomi has education, why is his common broken still??
Oh, are you trying to inject realism... really?
Off the cuff answer, it's fun.
I'm guessing it's an accent thing, maybe he's emulating "his kind" even from afar.
And/or perhaps physically/anatomically their mouth, throat, tongue, epiglottitis, (maybe ears), etc... make it easier for him to speak this way.
Even in real life, some people "sound slow" but could be rather intelligent or knowledgeable.
Could also be a speech impediment perhaps why he was abandoned. Maybe this isn't exactly how goblins speak.

Terodius Mitrakin |

So if Nomi has education, why is his common broken still??
He's running a long con on the party; the inquisition can tell...

I'm a legacy of fire game where the GM has let me play a gnoll. His speech is broken up also. Occasionally I describe that he has to move his mouth in an unusual way, inferring that it is difficult for his muzzle to pronounce certain words. So a physical/anatomical difference makes sense to me :)

it is fun, just a question about character development.
I enjoy the character tremendously

Too funny... LOL!

I'm glad! If it ever gets too much or too obscure so as... not to be fun, let me know.
I was in a game with a dwarf once and I'm not sure if the guy was going for a deep Scottish, but it was painful to keep up. I couldn't figure it out, even in context.

Level: Sorcerer: 8; Wizard: 8; Arcanist: 8; Elementalist Wizard: 8; Metal Subdomain: 8
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S, M/DF (a piece of iron from an iron golem, a hero's armor, or a war machine)
Range: personal
Target: you
Duration: 1 min./level (D)
Source: Core Rulebook
Summary: Your body becomes living iron.
damage reduction 15/adamantine. You are immune to blindness, critical hits, ability score damage, deafness, disease, drowning, electricity, poison, stunning, and all spells or attacks that affect your physiology or respiration, because you have no physiology or respiration while this spell is in effect. You gain a +6 enhancement bonus to your Strength score, but you take a –6 penalty to Dexterity as well (to a minimum Dexterity score of 1), and your speed is reduced to half normal. You have an arcane spell failure chance of 35% and a –6 armor check penalty, just as if you were clad in full plate armor. You cannot drink (and thus can't use potions) or play wind instruments.
Your unarmed attack deals damage equal to a club sized for you (1d4 for Small characters or 1d6 for Medium characters), and you are considered armed when making unarmed attacks.

Ratel Dier |

HEy Ciri, this is the information I am using, I've got it saved to my page to make sure I don't misplace it. Ratel had set Full density when he started tring to knock the other door down.

Ciri Princess of Cintra |

The belt is using the spell essentially to transmute your body to a construct and then add technology through acquired and Augmented templates.
Each setting is a different level of templates being added.
Above is a example of such templates.
I don't recall which rules were used in its creation for which templates, but my research at the time follows all rules for applying templates. If you find a variation in how 3.5 handles templates and how Pathfinder does it, let me know.
failure check: 1d100 ⇒ 70
failure check: 1d100 ⇒ 30
failure check: 1d100 ⇒ 53
failure check: 1d100 ⇒ 38
failure check: 1d100 ⇒ 12

Ciri Princess of Cintra |

Can the goblin move 30 and be within line of sight? Not at PC until Tuesday.
Wand of Web? Not at him, in front of him to slow him down.
sure

brvheart |

She is going into a side track on how she came up with the rules on the belt. I think it is far overthought myself and I prefer the thinking of the original.

Terodius Mitrakin |

You see beyond there in the next chamber, he seems to have a friend, an ancient red dragon.
CR 19.
a) it's a trick
b) it's time to run away
c) the GM is using ancient as flavor text not the game descriptors
If it's option c), would the GM please enlighten us...

Ratel Dier |

Maybe he will stay in 'golem form' a little bit longer.

brvheart |

When the party was on level three the dragon breathed and smoke came up and filled the level so they know there is one down here. It is not meant for you to fight it. Most dragons are very arrogant. Consider it a RP opportunity. Of course, if the party really wants to fight a CR 19. So d)

Terodius Mitrakin |

In the immortal words of Sir Robin...
RUN AWAYYY!!
Yep, not to mention the frightful presence ability (300 ft radius, dc 27)... which we are probably already feeling.

brvheart |

While it is a free action, he still has to activate it in his round.

Terodius Mitrakin |

Ok, I think I'm missing part of a side conversation here. To be clear, no one has thrown any fireballs around. I'm not sure what the bit about Energy Resistance (Fire) is...
Fralk has chucked a web spell from a wand.
PS. Thoron, how can you know about the dragon? No one has actually said anything (up until me, know), and you can't have gotten to line of sight...

Ratel Dier |

...no one has thrown any fireballs around...
Hmmmm maybe I should have said 'heard spells being cast"

Fralk ibn Sabbah |

Fralk has chucked a web spell from a wand.
Correct!
The goblin's hope was to cut the bat-winged dude off (from his escape)... When he saw the dragon, it became two fold.
Cut him off and place something between the dragon and us (himself?).
Other aspects, I can neither confirm nor deny.

Terodius Mitrakin |

Give it a few minutes to wear off once you get far enough away from the dragon 300 ft
...
Does lines of effect matter? Because, if not, given the size of the map, we're shaken until we leave this level...
