Damage, vital strike, power attack, divine favor: 2d8 + 9 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3) + 9 + 6 + 3 = 22
Iz-dubar, those are impressive numbers. I get the 2d8 is from vital strike, and the + 6 is str damage at 4x1.5. Are you showing power attack @ + 9 and divine favor @ + 2 and + 1 for the longsword?

If it's not too late, I'll add a Scroll of Mount so I can learn that spell and help supply horses.
I believe the math for Iz-dubar is 1d8+9 default (+6 Str, +2 Weapon Specialization, +1 magical weapon), +6 for Power Attack, and +3 for Divine Favor boosted by Fate's Favor.

2d8 = vital strike
+9 = +6(str x1.5 for 2 handed grip) +2 weapon specialization, +1 magic sword I lumped these together because they are constant+6 = power attack ( x 1.5 for 2 handed grip)
+3 = divine favor +2, fates favored +1

ahhh so it was the specialization I missed :)
Yeah, I was looking at it going what feat do I need to add :)
edit: nice synergy on the fates and divine favor.
I'm thinking adding vital strike would certainly be worth it!

Thanks. Vital strike is nice when you can’t get off a full attack. I like it better with greatswords or polearms but either way I think it lets you be more tactical. It is especially good for warpriests as they don’t get a second attack until 8th level but can take the feat at 6th. Plus, there is also good synergy with greater weapon of the chosen on 3/4 bab classes (allows to roll twice to hit)and vital strike as the both can’t be used with full attacks.

I already bought the spell Mount, happy to share and fates Favor adds 1 to divine Favor, but a prayer would help him and us by giving the creature-2 to hit and him +2 to hit. Vital strike is a standard action, ie 1 attack.

"Slim" Jim |

I've got a warpriest I play on another table on the forums, they're great. He went down the arsenal chaplain route with lots of vital strike feats (including Gorum's fighting technique). Don't forget you can use vital strike with bows which is situationally very handy.

Iz-dubar |

Arsenal chaplain is a great archetype especially if you are already using a weapon with large damage dice. I forgot about vital strike’s interaction with bows, thanks.

I'm just interested in the story of how a pirate ended up in the desert with a bunch of religious folks.
Yeah, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. Let's have her and Mr/Ms X be heading east from their ship heading to Khemet and ended up here lost as well.

Ratel Dier |

Upon entering the village the first thing you see is an old marble shrine (V-2) and a hovel (V-1). Ciri, you have no idea about this village. The village is an undistinguished collection of small buildings hastily built from the fieldstones and mountain rubble of the nearby pass. Exceptions are the larger buildings of a manor a(V-5), an Inn (V-7), and the constabulary (V-10). Verdonitii, Haltashaar and a few others head for the inn.
I don't know if it will make any difference, but about what time of day do we get there?

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Let me know once I should make an appearance!
And good to know about the Mount spell! We should definitely exchange spell books, I admit I don’t know what spells you have.

brvheart |

Well, it was on the afternoon (3-7pm) shift that you fought the scorpions. Then you went through the storm, so I would say 7 pm?
Tal'ariel Rhuidon, I am sure they will find you. Even religious types have to go to the inn eventually! A group of about a dozen dervishes just walked in full of sand from the road. They seem well traveled.

Okay, I'm looking at the map of Khement. Roughly where are we on that map? Trying to get my bearings.

Iz-dubar is correct, but on the Khement map you are just east of the S in Khartous.

Ratel Dier |

The dervishes quickly come up after the battle and Haltashar thanks you for killing the scorpions. There is, however, a lot of chittering going on back and forth in farsi between them with a lot of pointing.
... A group of about a dozen dervishes just walked in full of sand from the road. They seem well traveled.
Are these two groups of dervishes the same? Were there dervishes traveling with us? never mind, found it myself, but who is Vashalla?

brvheart |

Vashalla is the dervishes level 3 cleric. I mentioned her when you started traveling about her creating water for them.

Ratel Dier |

right I saw that, I just wasn't sure who she was. So about how many NPC's were with us, counting the drovers, dervishes and people in charge.
(not that it matters, just curious) Also, no one has aged, that's weird! I like it!

brvheart |

Over 30 NPCs, which is why all the water and food! 20 mercenary guards, 10 drovers, Moram and the rest of the named NPCs.

Ratel Dier |

cool, in my brain it was like ten of us, then it registered that the 'dervishes' were along. How high would Ratel need to roll on knowledge religion to learn a little bit about the dervishes?

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Alright, threw in a post with some deliberate amnesia. Turns out Tal uses alcohol to get over her shyness--spontaneous character development!

I admit I didn't understand this. Who's with me, and where am I coming from?

"Slim" Jim |

Sorry if I'm being slow, are some of us guarding the caravan still?

"Slim" Jim |

Yeah, seems we've arrived - just not where we expected.

brvheart |

Tal'ariel Rhuidon, the original game was supposed to be a continuation of my long running Razor's Coast game where your pirate would have fit in nicely:) Well, I could not reach an essential player so my wife decided on this module as a backup. I contacted four people for the game, the player that did not contact me back, our paladin, our cleric and a fourth that finally decided he wanted to play just as I was approving your character. Well, we have lost two people so far so that would be the second replacement. The module recommends 6-8 players, you currently are at 6. He is Mr/Ms X. If she shows up soon, he will have accompanied you from your ship from the west. Why you are heading to Khemet, well that is for your backstory. It makes more sense to me that have you follow the party 1000 miles. Besides, she isn't a natural fit for the original party. but they need someone that can find/remove traps. At least one person. Nevermind, he is here. Felix "Lucky Gits" Season. He does love his half-orcs. He is one of the best players in the ten years of my online games. He was on four of them!
Ratel, a DC 15 would give you some rudimentary information. They worship Ishtar so not exactly radicals.
"Slim" Jim, there are still close to a dozen dervishes watching the caravan along with Moran Infidel Bane.
Maybe not 10' but the wagons are half buried in the sand and some are destroyed beyond salvage. The dervishes were told to protect the cargo at all costs. So the provisions became sacrificed.

Tal'ariel Rhuidon |

Hey, a real rogue arrived!
So, um, now that there are two rogues, do you want me to build something else instead right quick? I think this party could use a Bard. I could put it together really quickly, and she can still be a piratey type.
Also, given what I already posted and how it might play out, I can't wait for Tal to figure out that she might have hooked up with Felix "Lucky Gits" Season.

Ratel Dier |

did Prefect Cornelius react to Ratel asking about the white tower.
hopefully you don't mind me rolling this here.
knowledge(religion) dervishes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
you mind if I go look up Ishtar?

brvheart |

Look up Ishtar in Lost Lands AND in the original Deities and Demigods.

Ratel Dier |

Don't have that, but she was a middle Eastern goddess of sexual love and umm war? I thinkIt worries me that he knows that.
Look up Ishtar in Lost Lands AND in the original Deities and Demigods.
So of the four groups listed as worshipers may I assume the dervishes consider themselves warriors?

brvheart |

It worries me that he knows that.
Lol, not sure why. My 1E Paladin worshipped Ishtar. They had holy concubines to take care of his needs. Some day I should introduce you to The Twins, Alexiev and Voltar. They are a god in my campaign. Their holy temples did have weekly ritual orgies. Now they are Greek!

A paladin for a chaotic good god?

Ratel Dier |

That makes a little more sense :)
Oh the comment was about him knowing that off of the top of his head. I googled her and read that, but still, good memory.
So no reaction from the prefect when Ratel mentioned the white tower? I went ahead and posted, but if had a reaction that would be cool too.

But I am just getting to know you, besides you have a lot of role playing potential with her even if you have to change her classes a little, not her character. Small adjustments can tweak a good concept, A pirate Wizard makes a great Eldritch knight. I was going to suggest you are from my ship, the Thunderstrike crew, somehow you were sent out this way to deliver a message requesting help for Millianka and Bethany as we needed funding to buy cannons to fight Bonnedeus. The city is big enough to make terms and get a letter of credit from the money changers there, but you met this guy and ended up here instead and have met us and hit it off. You already sent a message spell letting the ship know you are delayed due to a bad sandstorm and they are sending someone around the coast, slowly, who ever makes it there first gets a bonus but you already know you are not fit for the desert and are lucky to make it here in one piece. He can have the bonus, you will get back when you can, if ever.

Thanks! Nobody seems particularly worried about the double rogue situation, so maybe I'll just stick with the build and see how it goes.
I'm definitely reluctant to insert Tal'ariel into a backstory that you'll know a lot better than me--but I'm quite excited to hit it off with you folk and make a new start. Should be fun to see Lucky Gits get into the mix too!

Hey brv, years ago we talked about the Paladin's oath, I remembered you had a good one, I can't find the copy I made of it, do you have easy access to it to share?
I want to play Ratel as a very chill paladin, but I don't want to be relaxed about the important stuff.

I am sure I have that around somewhere. This works for now:
A paladin swears to uphold justice and righteousness, to stand with the good things of the world against the encroaching darkness, and to hunt the forces of evil wherever they lurk.

Ratel Dier |

You are correct, the party members were each hired as additional guards. I was more referring to the 20 2nd and 3rd level mercenaries of which a dozen were still guarding the caravan with Moram Infidel Bane. While the paladin made no bones about not wanting any of you with the caravan is it likely a paladin with run out on his charges without paying them? Most of the dervishes had become grateful that you were around especially after the scorpions.
And fyi, the dervishes were not carousing until midnight. They were asleep around 8 like the party. Them getting up and out early at least makes some sense.
Fun mystery! The drovers and dervishes were sleeping in the common room, was Moram Infidel Bane? Or Haltashaar? Or anyone else? Just curious to see if we were the only ones in private rooms that aren't missing as well.
Based on your statement, apparently Moram Infidel Bane did not have a room, and he was paladin? But didn't care for us?
edit: So is Vashalla and the three dervishes in the room gone?

brvheart |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Vashalla had a private room. Haltashaar, Verdonitii, Vastavaar Speartongue, and Auroka the flailer took the other four bunk room. They are also missing.
Moran stayed with the caravan, he will not speak with non-dervishes, feeling that it would be “unclean” to do so. Which is why you have been dealing with Haltashaar his second in command.
The nine guards and seven drovers, yes were sleeping in the common room.

Ratel Dier |

Thank you!
"Hmm, come to think of it, Avvakris’s Trade Monopoly does tend to get some exotic merchandise around the same time...." Cornelius ruffles his brow trying to think.
Rufo shuffles over to the closest party member, "I would not be talkin so loud here. There be spies everywhere. Meet me at the tailor shop V-9 in 20 minutes."
For some reason I thought the prefect said to meet him, I just noticed it was Rufo. Shouldn't make a difference (I hope)
