This combat has been going on for 13 days now. What gives all? Are we continuing? I know most of the fighters could not harm the swarm and combatting an ooze is not fun, but you all can do damage to it one way or another. I would like to continue running the game. Who is interested in continuing playing?

"Slim" Jim |

Can carry on.

brvheart |

Princess Jamalla and George show up and teleport Sir Rhayam. back to the kingdom from wence he came never to return.
My apologies. I was hoping I could guide him into how to play a paladin, but the NPCs are going to role play it the way they see it. Back to recruitment I guess. The game goes on in the meantime.

brvheart |

Thoron is dealing with family but will be posting. I presume Faffner will be here. He is an institution!

Fralk ibn Sabbah |

No matter the fray, I always entreat taking the calm and steady path.
I chalk all misunderstandings up to different communication and play styles and try to navigate.
Sometimes we can and sometimes not.
Peace.

Just a couple of house keeping questions.
1. Did you want me to flesh out my character sheet or were you going to hero lab it?
2. Did you want me to hold off on equipment?
Thanks.

I do Herolab for error checking only for online gaming. Keep your character as you wish as long as I can understand it:)
As far as I saw, you only had 365 GP left so what other equipment or am I not understanding? what you posted was fine, just the under accounting for the masterwork cost for 600 GP.

Jhenn |

Sounds good. The equipment thing question was a bit of confusion on my part based on your earlier remarks in the recruitment thread (see below). I wasn’t sure if what I had would unbalance things with what other equipment might be out ther.
….. The party has items in inventory that they can give you.

The party early captured a ton of armor and weapons, mostly +1 but a few better ones.

As for having tried to do anything that would guide (me) into how to play a paladin),
he never actually tried he just expected
so, the players handbook has that information, 2e explained it best or unearthed arcana, as a descendant of Charlemagne via Edward 1066, it is engrained in my psyche and best explained by the Masons guild of today, My Great Grandfather was a 33rd degree Mason and Brvheart Grandfather was also. We have the paper to prove it.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paladin
https://knightstemplarorder.org/salahadin/muslim-chivalry-templars/
And Arthurian legend, knights of the round table.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_Templar_(Freemasonry)
Btw, brvheart is the direct descendant of Sir William Wallace, Knight Protector of Scottland and my husband.
It is not for us to say how you play your character as long as you abide by the tenants of your faith, Code of chivalry and honor, which is a very strict set of rules, not easy for the uninitiated, the discipline of self sacrifice never is.
Q: and made belligerent posts
A: (He is Scottish, quite dwarf like.)
Q: ..... to his actual seemingly monoptic idea of a paladin which is probably why the previous paladin left (or was kicked from) the game.
A: Did you ever read the knights code. Monopic, Really!!! No one has ever been kicked out of a game, some have left because he is rigid and set in his old school ways. If you try fighting you will lose. Instead be humble, present your proposal, let him review and give his thought, accept the ruling, unless you have a logical question in the rules. He will compromise to meet you halfway.
Q: His wife (Ciri) on the other hand actually supplied a lot more helpful information (behind the scenes) than he did.
A: Thanks, I think??
Q: Further I did not care for his dm style but was sticking around for you all (the players) more than because I was enjoying the lame game experience.
A: Not everyone enjoys a old school DM Rules style of game, he is quite a Judge but this is judge's guild. Seems rules lawyers forgot rule zero.
A: We appreciate your patronage but if you are not having fun, we will survive and thrive by moving forward and hopefully find a good mix of personalities.
Q: which has been mostly just roll playing since I joined, not sure if there was any role playing prior to that point.
A: This is a hack and slash old school dungeon, it has npc interaction, but role playing is largely up to the pcs.
So I hope you all can get some enjoyment out of this......
The Knights Templar, full name The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta, is a fraternal order affiliated with Freemasonry. Unlike the initial degrees conferred in a regular Masonic Lodge, which (in most Regular Masonic jurisdictions) only require a belief in a Supreme Being regardless of religious affiliation,[1] the Knights Templar is one of several additional Masonic Orders in which membership is open only to Freemasons who profess a belief in Christianity.[2] One of the obligations entrants to the order are required to declare is to protect and defend the Christian faith. The word "United" in its full title indicates that more than one historical tradition and more than one actual order are jointly controlled within this system. The individual orders 'united' within this system are principally the Knights of the Temple (Knights Templar), the Knights of Malta, the Knights of St Paul, and only within the York Rite, the Knights of the Red Cross.
A cross and crown laid upon a cross pattée inscribed with "In Hoc Signo Vinces" resting upon downward pointing swords in saltire is often used to represent the Knights Templar.
The various symbols used allude to the orders of the body, though the cross and crown is often used alone as well.
Like the Masonic Red Cross of Constantine being inspired by the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George and the Order of Malta being inspired by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the Masonic order of Knights Templar derives its name from the medieval Catholic military order Knights Templar. However, it does not claim any direct lineal descent from the original Templar order.

Welcome, check my character sheet for a list of inventory in the portable hole.

Ok, we probably should get some routines down like:
Who is opening doors?
Fralk, are you checking for traps on all the doors, chests, etc?
Who is entering rooms first? Lately it has been the wizard which is rather inappropriate.
I presume Jhenn is taking the old paladin's watch and march order?

Yes, yes and yes on all counts. And, please don't forget my passive trap perception. Trap Spotter.
I'll even enter first, unless that it typically big HP territory.

brvheart |

brvheart wrote:That works for me. Just let me know when/how you will introduce JhennI presume Jhenn is taking the old paladin's watch and march order?
You have a vision of a vibrant and beautiful young fighting woman with flowing masses of red/gold hair. She says I am Princess Jamalla the Wise, Holy of Holies, Mother of the Masses, Benefactress of the Poor, and Mitra’s Handmaiden. It is I that has brought you here. This troupe of aventurers is in need of a devout worshiper of Mitra to lead them in vanquishing the Dark Tower.

Jhenn |

The paladin drops to one knee, ”As you will it Mother, my sword arm is Mitra’s.” With zeal and a gleam in her eye she abruptly stands, I will do my best. Take me to these adventurers.

"Slim" Jim |

I'll try and post in the morning, the gameplay post in my campaign took rather longer than expected to write and it's now late in my timezone.

Jhenn |

Ciri is having to go into the doctor this morning. I am hoping it is nothing to serious but she is in a lot of pain. Someone needs to take the lead for her please.
Sorry to hear that. Let us know if there is anything else we can do on our end.
@Ciri - hope you get well quickly… dealing with pain sucks.

"Slim" Jim |

Get well soon Ciri!

It was a abscess infection in my abdomen, they put me on IV antibiotics and debris the wound to drain, gave me oral antibiotics now, 2 of them.
It confuses me, because 1 pill is red and I take twice a day, so then I have live in reality, then every 8 hours I have to take the blue pill and stay down the rabbit hole.
So I am both in reality and in bliss, go figure.

Sincerest apologies, as I meant to keep up... But travel with friends abroad kicked my butt. Between time zone and no personal time, posting was extremely difficult.
I don't travel much and posting-wise, things didn't go my way.
I'll be better about a heads up.

"Slim" Jim |

I think +charisma items are the least useful for Jim, probably the most useful for Jenn.

Jhenn |

Some else can have the earrings. Jhenn already has a headband of charisma +2. Also, Jhenn will use th +6 strength belt from party loot and throw her +2 belt into the loot pile.

"Slim" Jim |

I think there is a way of making custom items in herolab like +2 earrings. Not near my computer today, will look tomorrow.
