As color continues to return to her extremities and face she begins to explain her story.
"Roseguard huh, funny how these things work out. Mo I found out a contract devil named Urevian had offered a quite large bounty for a Carman Rajani. I did my research and learned of his past. I even captured him. We'll skip over some details for what remains of my professional pride but I ended up stranded on a leaky boat out to sea, and he ended up with my equipment..."
Pausing again to catch her breath and sip some more water.
"Eventually I swam back to shore but the time on the contract had run out so an erinys dragged me down here. Urevian loves leaving me upside down. Food and water have been, shall we say irregular. I don't know the specifics of why Urevian wants Carman Rajani so bad but I'm sure it has something to do with Belacorra and the Roseguard."
Pointing to herself "Cynemi here is happy to be done with all that. In better shape I'd just ask for a map to the surface but I'm afraid I might need more help than that."
Sendoski recognizes the name. When helping Dorianna study for social situations in Absalom, he's pretty sure he came across Cynemi, the Tiefling as being wanted for various crimes.

"Imprisonment is one thing, torture is another. No one deserves that." states Oorgatch. "We can guide you up, but we don't want any trouble from you in the town of Otari. They are having enough problems already."

Perhaps there is a lesson in there, and a path to redemption now that you have been given another chance by kind strangers.

Scarred One begins to chuckle when Yan describes them as kind strangers, then he coughs to cover that.
"Before you go, who is Urevian? What kind of creatuer is it? And do you know other creatures on this level?" Ideally would love to learn enough to be able to recall knowledge

She coughs and sputters a bit, but sips some more water "Like I said, a contract devil. Never actually met him though, just accepted a bounty. Profits were great but with some rather disaster results for failure...."
Scarred One and friends have heard of contract devils before. The more "scientific" name is Phistophilus.
They are clerks, scribes, and bureaucrats of Hell rarely found outside the infernal courts, and then almost always to pursue potential contracts, tempting mortals to sell their souls in exchange for achieving their worldly desires. They are tall creatures with skin tones that range from bronze to crimson and large curving horns extending from their bodies, over which they often drape favored or important contracts.
They are powerful devils and extremely hard to manipulate, nearly immune to mental effects with the added ability to feign being effected by them. Silver and good are likely helpful in terms of physical attacks
They can draft and execute infernal contracts that can grant vast amounts of power in exchange for a variety of "trade goods." This also leads them to generally be much more interested in negotiating than wanton murder.
Yan Tovis |
You know the Pathfinder Society isn't far away, they're in Absalom. I don't believe they deal with devils, and they would probably take you. You could look them up, maybe do have some adventures while doing good in the world and not get tortured. You seem like the type who'd fit right in.
Yan tries to get a read on how his performance went, hoping to set this person on the path to redemption.
Pirate GM |
"An erinys and some barbazu liked doing the hanging upside down. Imps delivered provisions, occasionally, very occasionally. They made sure I knew why I was here, not like I couldn't figure it out. Plenty of sounds of squishy flesh like zombies or oozes or something roaming the halls. Not a very good view from inside the cell though."
Her condition does seem to be improving a bit, enough to sneak in a tiny bit of humor.
As for redemption, it's hard to tell. She's in pretty bad shape having barely survived up until this point. You think she's unlikely to want to return to Absalom though, considering she's wanted there. You're pretty sure she's going to stay far away from any infernal contracts in the future at least.

Then he nods to Young one
Pirate GM |
The doors are bound in iron, slightly warm to the touch and ominous, but not trapped.
Opening the door reveals a chamber that forms a large octagonal pyramid and has four exits on opposite walls. Bright, blood-red light shines down from the top of the pyramid in a perfect circle on the floor.
Scarred One is pretty sure stepping into the light will activate a trap. It looks beyond Oorgatch's ability (Requires master) but it might be susceptible to dispel magic, or in the short run it could just be avoided.
Oorgatch |
”Much as it doesn’t seem completely right, Scarred One or Sendoski, do you have a low level summons you could sacrifice to trigger the trap?”

Going south as per slack.
skirting around the edge of the room the party heads counterclockwise to the southern door. Like the other doors it's heavy stone bound with iron.
Opening the door generates a brief and harmless flash of redlight along with the scent of brimstone. Opening a door with subtly on this level seems like a near impossibility.
Behind it is an old prison block that has been converted into a
makeshift barracks with several shoddy cots pushed into the cells and against the walls. The three cell doors have been chained open. Foot lockers sit near each cot.
A quartet of fleshwarps that were likely Morlocks at one point ready themselves for combat as the door opens, with the blue dashed one shouting in Undercommon.
