Role Play:
Nichole takes a package off her horse and carefully hands it over to Nick It’s maybe the size of a thick bedroll and she has one more. The pair of them ride out, though Nichole stops about half way between the caravan and the goblins her bow at the ready. Nick rides a little further before carefully placing the package on the ground in the tall grass and retreating.

As the caravan proceeds apace and various heroes protect it in various ways, Nick and Nichole watch, as do you all. Some of the more perceptive among you see the grass twitch as one or more goblins approach the package, and then scamper back to cover, presumably with their prize. Those close enough, hear Nick chuckle ”It works every time.”

Nichole, without taking her eyes off the ruins within which the goblins are preparing, says, ”It hasn’t worked yet.”

A pair of minutes go by, but it feels like much longer as you all watch for goblins, and prepare for their assault. Suddenly, there’s the sound of broken glass, and a gout of fire appears from behind the rubble. And then another - and another! Those with sharp eyes can even make out burning goblins running every which way.

Nichole visibly relaxes and moves back toward the caravan proper, ”Show’s over folks, everyone can relax. This lot won’t be bothering us today!” More quietly she too grins, saying, ”They just can’t resist breaking glass.” Nick’s horse speeds to a trot as he moves back to the rear of the caravan, smiling and checking that nothing untoward happened to the passengers while they were occupied.

OK folks. It’s Monday night and recruitment is now closed.

Please give me until early tomorrow afternoon (Pacific time) to make my final decision. I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can, I know we’re all eager. However, I need to re-read the backgrounds, finish research, and then make the final choices that we’ll all have to live with for the next few years. Additionally, there are a LOT of really good submissions in this pool, and I need to narrow it to four.

Please feel free to continue to role play if you wish. I’ll be here, going back and forth, and will continue to read the thread lightly. So much good stuff!

Please carefully check the list below and make sure your name is on there. If not, PM me please.

Finally, thank you all for such a wonderful little trip from Magnimar to Sandpoint. It’s been a pleasure reading your stories, personalities, and interactions. This is a really good group. Thank you all.

RP (Emerik/Goblin Watching):

With her light crossbow now in hand, Verona answered Emerik's question. "Da, I can, but I fear they will not listen to whatever, I say. The goblins of Ustalav were vicious and vile, and nothing has shown me that they are all that different in Varisia, but..." she hesitated not sure if it was even a good idea to potentially antagonize with her words.

Eventually, though, Verona made her decision and belted out a guttural cry in goblin that was hopefully loud enough that even the goblins would here it from afar. "Tso rau peb. Koj yuav pom tsis pom qhov ci iab ntawm no. Tsuas yog kev tuag!"

Whoops! Made my comment at the last second, I guess :)

Good luck to everyone. I don't envy GM Euan a bit. I know I'll be seeing at least one of you in another game, but I wish I could play with all of you.

It's been great and thanks to everyone that's helped me figure out Tot and roleplaying off her. She's a fun one to play and even if I don't make it, I'll still remember this recruitment as one of the best I've been a part of here.

GM Euan:

I probably should have mentioned this earlier. My posting typically happens after 6:30 CST (UTC-6, or Central Time) on weekdays. I can normally post throughout the day on weekends.

RP - Kizzy:

Tot seems more a frightened child than a competent fighter as she looks at Kizzy while she guesses with far too much accuracy why Tot is so skittish.

"P-Please don't tell anyone," she begs.

Too late, you were too careless.

"I-I... I don't want them to hate me," she explains, her vision spangling as she looks down to the toes of her boots.

RP - Lunch (Vin and everybody else :P):

Tot, missing the implications in Vindur's statement gives him a small smile as they enjoy the soup. It really is quite good, and the bread soaks in the broth wonderfully. She would have to remember Emerik and see if he'd teach her some of his skills with food.

RP - Goblins!:

Tot drives the butt of her quarterstaff into the ground and pauses long enough to string her bow as she observes where the goblins are.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

"Do you see their leader," she asks Vindur, not able to make out much at this distance.

Because I was too slow and the GM beat me to the post.

RP - Pop goes the Goblins:

Tot winces as the goblins fall for the trap. She had no more love for the vile, vicious vermin than the next person, but it was still hard to see even a goblin burn to death. She removes the arrow she'd knocked from her bow and replaces it in the quiver as she turns away and keeps moving.

You've done worse. Much worse.

She shivers as she relives a memory in horribly vivid detail. She could still hear the screams of those she had killed that night on particularly bad nights.

She has a feeling that tonight would be one of those nights.

I fear that will be the last RP post from me until we find out who is in the game. It's been a blast role-playing with all of you and reading through your backgrounds. I wish I had more time to engage with everyone's character, but Tot ain't no social butterfly. She's shy and it takes some thought to figure out why and how she'd approach people.

Vindur, Seamus, Kizzy, and Meg:

Thanks to all of you especially for helping me get to know Tot better. It's been a blast getting to know you and your characters, and I would love to play with all of you in a game. :)

Seamus Not RP:

Seamus Paseri wrote:
Thank you, It was my pleasure, I tend to think of gaming here on the boards as a way to fill the boredom. Instead, chatting with you has been the opportunity to meet an interesting person. Which during this stressful time of covid has been very refreshing. Thank you for being willing to share. I agree the rapport has been great but more so, it's been a pleasure meeting you. Hopefully they both, Seamus and Meg can make it into the game. But even if Seamus doesn't I hope Meg does she's a well thought out character that would be fun to read about.

I am glad you had as good a time chatting as me! It has been a pleasure meeting you as well. I always tend to worry that I am oversharing, so it's nice to know when I'm not. I hope you know that the feeling is mutual in that I hope Seamus gets in even if Meg doesn't (but would prefer us both getting in!).

Tot, Kizzy, Vindur Not RP:

It has been a pleasure getting to know your characters as well, and I would love the chance to play with any of you in the future! Best of luck!

Tot, Seamus, Meg, Kizzy:
Absolutely reciprocate! You guys and gals have been a true delight to RP with and I would happily jump into an adventure with any and all of you without hesitation!

It was a delight watching how Vin shaped into a much deeper character simply through his interactions with you all. Thank you for making this such a great gaming experience!!

Well, I wish I had discovered this recruitment earlier, but I enjoyed the little bit of RP I did get to do.

Good luck to everyone! (but hopefully slightly less good than Sigrid’s, lol)

The sun slowly sinks in the western sky as the caravan wends its way across the grasslands south of Sandpoint. You know you’re getting close as the road begins to turn north, and then west. You’re looking forward to getting to town and away from the bitter ales and hard ground of the road.

Unfortunately, not all are called to the table to be Sandpoint Heroes. Those chosen for this campaign, are as follows:

Seamus Passeri
Qetsiyah Kizzy
Margareta ‘Meg’ Alekto
Izomandakus

Thanks everyone for applying!

There were some great applications and the decision wasn’t at all easy. I hope the process was at least a little fun as well. Those of you who have been selected, give me a few moments and we’ll get the discussion thread started so we can finalize your builds and cover other issues.

Congratulations folks, have a great game!

Liberty's Edge

Tough competition on that one. Best of luck, all!

Congrats you guys, have fun!

^_^ *dances*

Woo! Very excited to be chosen and the team looks awesome.

If any arcane casters who were passed over are interested in coming in on a game already in progress, the group I GM is in need of arcane support. It would require a bump to level 3 and I will be issuing PFS chronicles for the next dungeon, Thistletop. =D

Drop me a PM if you are interested. ^_~

Congrats to all, and good luck! You're going to need it!
