Here's the character sheet for my tatterdemalion witch submission, Shiyara.

What you've heard about this newcomer:
Have you SEEN what the Basri Countess is wearing tonight? Say what you will, that is a bold dress. I've heard it's elven-made, there are magic fibers in it. The countess brought in a designer from Iadara, in Kyonin. Some sort of avant-garde seamstress, looking to make a name for herself. She's no Valentinos, at least not yet, but she's got talent. It's like the cloth just bends to her will. I'm thinking of commissioning something from her for the Grand Day of Exaltation - I'd love to make an impression at the brunch at least, you know? That's the time to take risks. Shiyara...that's what she's been going by.

Behind the curtain:
Shiyara has been designing clothing primarily for the Basri family for the past few months and is starting to be recognized in Oppara as a talented fashionista. Privately, she agreed to travel to Taldor at the Basri's expense mostly as a diversion. Politics moves slowly in Iadara, and Shiyara was looking for a more dynamic environment to amuse herself for the next few decades. Content for the time being to play the part of Exotic Curiosity, she has vague plans to shake up their quaint fashion scene, talk some senators into passing a few nonsensical laws, maybe destroy some stuffy careers if she feels sassy. As a bonus, she may even be able to affect some positive change in the world. That is, assuming Rosovon doesn't interfere.
Lindúin, the little thrush, started speaking to her on behalf of an entity calling itself Rosovon only about 15 years ago. She was already a skilled tailor at that point, but with Rosovon's interest came certain powers and influence. Textiles began to move at her whims. Shortly thereafter, Lindy asked her to help weave certain events together through time to create something greater, much as she crafted garments. So far, it has mostly been a word in the right ear here and there. Once, she had to curse misfortune upon an archer in the annual games. So far, Lindy had never asked her to do anything against her admittedly flexible morals. Aside from his occasional odd requests, Shiyara was free to use her powers as she pleased. Thus far she has closely guarded her powers, believing discretion and influence to be much more useful than overt displays of might.

Party dynamics:
Shiyara would fulfill the Arcane role, primarily as a debuffer and controller. I don't currently plan to take slumber or any of thr blatantly evil or thematically problematic hexes. Backstory-wise, I'm certainly flexible on the details. The Basri family as her artistic patron makes sense from the Kyonin perspective, but I'd be happy to switch over to a different noble patron if anyone from the party ends up being from a major noble house.

Not planning on it to start anyway. If it seems like we need the help in combat, I'm open to having the conversation with everyone playing. I know it can be a divisive issue on how fun for the gm and the rest of the party it is, and I'm not looking to ruin anyone's fun.

Also, rolling for cash:
3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) = 7 70 gp. Guess business isn't as good as she'd like.

Lady Larin Zespire - ranger (Dandy)
Henrika Karthis - mesmerist (Vexing Daredevil)
Torin Argentus - fighter (Dragonheir Scion)

Total: 20

That's a lot of competition! I didn't put down everyone's role, because some can fit in more than one, but I can if requested. Please let me know if I missed yours, because I probably did.

I never got an answer on whether my idea would even be allowed... part of me really wants to write it up and just hope for the best but with applications due later today I'm not going to put myself through the stress when it might be a non-starter anyways. Good luck, all.

I think you might be mistaken: the recruitment still runs for another week, if I read that correctly. It was only posted last Friday, and the GM might have been busy with other things this weekend. I think they'll be back to answer questions.

I'm interested in applying as well, have a few concepts floating around in my head.

Going to look into a submission after work today. I've started this campaign a couple fo times but they both died quickly on me.

Lol- I’m an idiot… I don’t know why I thought it ended today. I’ll start working on a rough draft while I wait for an official answer.

Oh wow, I love the idea of this adventure path! Had a homebrew campaign here with this exact premise on these boards before the adventure path came out, and I have a wonderful idea for an Intrigue Oracle.

Thinking some sort of shadowy assassin type, and wanted to ask for permission to use fetchling. The players guide says there are "reclusive families of fetchlings hiding in the shadows of great cities".

Everyone knows every successful campaign for any sort of throne requires a knife to the back eventually, and what better person to do it than someone used to living in the shadows their entire life?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Because I think the character might fit into the game well, and I don't get to play him much in the table top game he occassionally sees play in, I thought I would throw this out there for approval before I go to the effort of building him.

The basic concept of the character is that Villar is a demon blooded tiefling unchained rogue (investigator) who would go shadowdancer eventually. He looks very much like the shadow demon whose distant blood he shares via shadowy horns and wings with glowing red eyes which he conceals with his clothing and a pair of tinted glasses. Despite the appearance he is actually a good person who works as a private detective based from his own appartment who has a strong desire to help the downtrodden escape their fate.

Character Proposal:
Villar Shadowsun is a most demonic looking tiefling. Tall and thin he covers himself thoroughly as often as possible with nothing but darkness inside of his hood. Villar's parents were both humans, Gaddox and Maurilla DuBoise, and his father was often called the Umbral Mage given his great powers with shadow magic. They had no idea that his line had been cursed long ago by a shadow demon and that the blood of the abyss ran through his veins. When little Villar was born his birth was too traumatic for his mother's body and she died shortly thereafter.

Villar was raised for the next several years by his father but one day the man disappeared and was never heard from again. Some say the shadows took him but Villar believed that his father was killed on a job. He never expected to see the man again after that and was left to survive on his own using only his wits.

Life was hard for a young tielfing on the streets but somehow Villar managed to make it to adulthood while avoiding the gangs that inevitably cropped up among the downtrodden. As he entered his twenty-second year Villar made the move to Oppara where he rented a small hole in the wall apartment with two rooms. He turned the front room into an office of sorts and spent what little he had left to him on business cards that he could pass out and leave in places where people who needed help could find them and opened his door as a private investigator.

Villar worked a job for one of the Shelynite priestesses, a half-elven woman named Zara, who became rather enamored of him after he helped her prove her innocents when a piece of art from the temple was maliciously vandalized. With the help of the good word of the temple Villar made a bit of a name for himself to launch his career. While he had a problem coming up with a name for his little agency Zara solved his problem by helping him come up with Umbral Investigations.

Just a head's up the GM has went through something rather serious in his life so, while he's still here it might take him a bit to respond in here.

I *had* been starting to wonder, since we hadn’t heard from him since the OP. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hope everything is okay, and not too serious. Wishing him well!

Here's my application. Thonis, Cyclopean Seer Oracle, is a daughter of both Taldor and Iblydos, and heir to a terrible family curse.

She is committed to seeing Maxillar Pythareus suffer tenfold the pain he has caused her family.

Starting Gold: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) = 11x10 = 110

I would also like to throw my hat in the crowd.
I will apply for the arcane slot with a Lady Anastasia de Piorella,
a young noble woman with aspiration for greatness.

I'm submitting this guy. I realize there is already quite a few skilled martials on offer, but this seems like a good campaign for a Vigilante, so I am going to add to the pile. Aletius’ roll would be mostly skills/social. Combat will be archery, maybe throwing weapons. I took the Child of Oppara trait and bought Concealable Thieves’ Tools for 190GP with the 200 GP item the trait allows. I also took the Noble Scion feat and chose Vernisant for the bonus to knowledge skills. A casual googling of the family name didn’t turn up much and I don’t want to dig too deep and stumble upon spoilers in case the family is relevant to the story, so for the moment I’ve left his place in the family vague.

The background for Aletius is the in-world, fictionalized version of Aletius that he has spent years cultivating. The Vigilante Identity is more the ‘true’ version of Aletius, but I am still working on the Vigilante Identity’s story.

Money: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 3, 6) = 15 X 10 = 150. Average it is.

I agree that the Vigilante fits very well in the campaign, but in the end I put myself the challenge to make a divine character and the cleric I submitted was born. Interesting concept!

Thank you everyone while I go through this difficult time.

Let me explain my silence. My best friend of over 40 years suffered a major heart attack last week and "died" on the scene, First Responder's were able revive him and transport him to the hospital. While in the ER he suffered another heart attack and "died" again, Doctor's were able to resuscitate him again but unfortunately his brain had been without oxygen for almost an hour.

While his brain stem showed activity, keeping his heart and lungs beating, there was no activity in any other part of his brain, leaving him brain dead. Saturday his wife ordered hospice care to keep him comfortable while waiting for the inevitable.

Yesterday morning he passed away as his heart finally stopped beating. Fortunately for his wife he didn't linger for months or possibly years in a vegetative state and his passing was peaceful.

To say that his passing is devastating is an understatement as he was more of a brother of mine than my own brother and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

That being said, I'm overwhelmed by the interest everyone has shown in this recruitment and will spend the next couple of days going over everyone's submissions and sending out notes as I go.

Again, I thank you for your patience.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Marik, take whatever time you need.

I'm sorry to know that he passed, but it probably might have been for the best. Be well.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Really sorry to hear that Mike. I've lost a friend (and fellow Pathfinder) to a heart attack as well; what makes it harder is that it can happen so suddenly, without warning, and through no fault of anyone's. I hope you have people who can support you.

Scarab Sages

I'm very sorry Mike.

Sorry for your loss Mike/Marik.

My sincere condolences, Mike.

Yes, best wishes and condolences Marik. Sorry to hear about that.

Mike, my condolences for your loss.

My heart felt condolences. Obviously, these games take a back seat to our lives real concerns. It sounds like you have a good support system; by your reference to all the people who knew your friend. Lean on them.

While we appreciate your time, efforts and willingness to run; please do not feel obligated if the timing is wrong. We will all still be here, when it is!

Again; so sorry for your loss!

My deepest condolences to you.

So sorry for your loss.

Wow. I don't know if you're the praying type but I'll say one for him and his family, and for you. I know often at times like this a project can be a helpful distraction but, like Dorian said, if the timing isn't right for you nobody is going to fault you for pausing the recruitment and starting it back up at a later time. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for sharing, Mike. I'm very sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself, and don't worry at all about the delay!

Take all the time you need Marik, we'll all be here. <3

Sympathies and condolences. Please take all the time you need.

Take all the time you need. Virtual hugs.

Marik, my sincere condolences to you and his wife & family. May your dear friend rest in peace.

Take all the time you need, Mike. You don't owe us anything.

Yikes, sorry for your loss. Hope all is well.

In other news, what I originally came to post was that my character Qiu Jin is statted up except for equipment and I'm working on the background. But of course, take your time.

Just want to put forth that if you need to take time for yourself and table the game, no one will begrudge that decision. What you're going thru is awful and the way you need to deal with it, whatever that looks like for you, is valid.

I hope that you and yours are able to find peace in time

I'm so sorry to hear that. Take your time and be well.

If this runs, and I understand entirely why it may not, here is my submission.

Everyone thank you for your understanding. Despite the difficulties of the past week I fully intend to run this, as promised. But given the situation I'm going to extend the recruitment deadline out to the end of next week.

The new recruitment deadline will be Friday, July 10th @ 6:00 p.m. CDT.

That will give me the time to go over everyone's submissions and choose the party.

For those of you wondering about what I meant on "a case by case basis"
I tend to be biased toward the Core races but I don't want to stifle anyone's creativity, so if I were to choose a non-standard race I would choose only one such character. Please go ahead and submit what you want but just keep that in mind, that you may be restricting your chances for selection.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Ah, that makes sense then. Now to decide whether to go with it or not.

I would like to throw Etienne's hat into the ring for consideration. He's a Paladin of Sarenrae and a barrister in Taldor.

Summon Monster I as spell-like ability 6 times per day (casting as standard action and summoned creature lasts 1 minute per level)

Appearance:
Gramplin tries, but commonly fails, to keep his brown hair combed down, but it just seems to want to fly free, perhaps reflecting the devil-may-care nature of Gramplin himself. He commonly wears a uniform one would expect for a servant making him look a step or three down from a butler. However, while his wardrobe may not stand out, the smile that seems to almost constantly be plastered on his face tends to make the dullness of the outfit shine a bit more. He wears a spiked gauntlet which he insists is in case he needs to defend his lady, but anyone who knows the duo is aware that she would be the one defending him in a fight.

Roles in Taldor:
The eidolon, Lady Sinestra Delmicare, is a patron-sponsored harpist and Gramplin, a socially frowned-upon Halfling, acts as her servant. Realistically, they are a more subtle Bonnie and Clyde duo using the connections of her patron to rob the elite of Taldor.

Roles Filled:
Gramplin used traits to gain sleight of hand and disable device and his background leads towards him filling a rogue role. Of course, as a summoner, he is also an arcane caster. His eidolon is exceptional in bluffing and makes a great dishonest party face as well as being socially apt as a talented and patron-sponsored harpist. Gramplin is also excellent in both bluff and diplomacy, though is a Halfling, so has fewer opportunities to be heard in Taldor. In combat, Sinestra goes from socialite harpist to clawed melee warrior while Gramplin tends to stay back as blast enemies with acid splash.

Background:
Gramplin Hustleburr grew up in Taldan squalor. His family had lived in the region for generations barely squeaking out a living as servants. Gramplin decided that wasn’t for him. He was one of the have nots, but that was only because he hadn’t taken what he didn’t have yet. Armed with a bit of arcane power, some natural charm, his own daring nature, and the luck of a dexterous Halfling, Gramplin started “acquiring” a small amount of wealth. Of course, as only one of the have nots, he shared the wealth with those he knew to be in need: sometimes as a gift, other times as a repayment of a loan he assured the person they’d given him, and other times using his sleight of hand skills to simply place the wealth in a needy pocket. One day, when he was caught in the act of acquiring wealth, that life of generous criminal activity almost came to an end.
The female figure who called out to the men to stop certainly looked human. She walked with confidence and elegance. She flirtatiously sweet talked the men into letting her “servant” off with a warning assuring them she’d deal with him later. Little did he know what “deal” really meant. Removed from the threat and sitting at a quiet table in a local tavern, the woman introduced herself.
I am called Sinestra Delmicare, and I’ve come to make a deal with you. You see, I’m a devil,” she said with a smile.
Oh, I’ll bet you are,” he said back, flirtatiously.
She cocked her head slightly to the side and offered thoughtfully, “Alright, time for that later, but for now, I’m a devil. I’ve come from Hell for you, dear one. You’ve chosen a life of crime, but you’re dangerously close to using it to do good things keeping a,” and she paused for a moment before saying with disgust, “pure soul. I’m here to fix that. I’ll help you.
Coming from anyone else, he would likely have taken this ridiculous story as humor or delusion. Sinestra, however, had a strange confidence and straight forwardness that made him…curious. “How will you help me?” he asked.
I’ll distract people, I’ll lie for you, fight on your behalf, I’ll even warm your bed if you wish, but all the while, I’m going to be tempting you. Tempting you to head down the wrong paths.
If your goal is to lead me astray, why on Golarion would you tell me that?” he asked, certain that he’d just found a flaw in her words.
Because it’s more fun that way,” she responded, a wicked smile on her lips. “Speaking of fun,” she said, “I’m bored. What say I go distract this room full of fools and you make us richer?” and without waiting for an answer, she moved to the tavern’s small stage, picked up a harp lying there, and began to play, swaying sensually as she plucked the strings and singing a countermelody in her sultry voice. The pair gained a decent amount of coin that night.
I only stole from those who deserved it,” he said when they reconvened, “private soldiers and guards from noble houses, local lords who were there ‘slumming it,’ that sort.
Ooo,” she said, eying him up and down, “you will be a fun challenge. I do like fun. Speaking of, I believe you wanted to see how ‘devlish’ I can be,” and she gave him a flirtatious smile.
As the weeks and months moved forward, the pair continued to make money, Gramplin continued to cling to his questionable level of morality, and they found doors open for them.
A local noble heard of Sinestra’s skill, liked her looks, appreciated her flirting, and became her patron. He gave her an extremely well-crafted harp and she and her Halfling servant, Gramplin, began performing at lots of high society social events. Lots of doors opened for them. Many of them opening after Gramplin picked the locks.
With a patron’s backing, they were even given the chance to perform in some small gatherings in Oppara during the Grand day of Exultation. This was also an opportunity for Gramplin to find another door opening: the ability to join a reolution.
When chances to be part of change and reform in Taldor became options, the pair saw opportunity. Gramplin saw opportunity to make a better life for himself and those like him. Sinestra saw a chance to even more easily corrupt the impressionable Halfling. What fun we’ll have! she thought.

About the Player:
I have been a huge RPG nerd since the days of the D&D box sets…and yes, I owned all five. I love roleplay for more than just the hack and slash aspect, though the tactics and strategies involved in a well-built group beating well-played villains is similarly fascinating. I check the forum daily and am always happy to take part in posting even if it’s minimal things to keep the role play of a moment in town alive, though I try to be conscious of never dominating a PbP thread.

Appearance:
The devil known as Sinestra Delmicare, a name she chose as a play on the phrase "devil may care," is curvy in an appealing way without being over the top in that regard. She has a charming smile on her face most of the time and tends to wear flowing gowns that are tight-fitting around the waist and upper arms. Her blonde hair is light enough to almost be white and she wears the back down, but pulls the sides up into two buns...which cover the small horns that would give away her devilish heritage. She carries no obvious weapons, though her finely manicured nails do happen to function as claws. She sometimes carries an extremely well-made harp, though she also relegates that to her servant if her arms get tired. Her stride is smooth, confident, and designed to draw attention. This appears to be a woman who is to be played with, but not messed with.
