"Let us continue. Back into the dungeons with their Abyssal whispering."
Leothar does not cast any spells at this time.

Feeling the strange sensation again as they entered the basement, Ian draws the 'Lady's Gift' and points towards the south. "May as well finish investigating where we found the vampire."
Remembering the 'coffin room' was empty Ian moves towards the south eastern door, nodding towards it. "Shall we?"
Enos Flamebrother
”We should return to the vampire’s lair to see if they had any items we can use. And to put that poor soul to his proper rest. But time is of the essence, it will have to wait, I think.”
Ian Passeri
Well-stocked bookshelves line the walls this room, while a plush carpet covers the floor. The body of a crusader lies pale white on the carpet. Standing over it is a half orc in studded leather waiting for you.
Enos doesn't find any traps nor a latch for the door. After examining the door he finds a keyhole and manages to get the door open. The room beyond is empty except for a coffin.
Shrugging, Ian heads towards the library where they found they found the corpse and the vampire. "True, as a crusader he deserves a proper send off. The crypt was empty, but the library may have valuable information."
He pauses in the doorway of the library, near the corpse. "Do we take the time to search the books for information?"
Leothar
"Once we bring the army in here, we will have many more to help go through the books. Scholars among the group."
Enos Flamebrother
"Let's continue cleaning out the demons while the planetar guards the banner."
Sorry I distracted - my intent was to continue delving, but to return to the room later.
Enos Flamebrother
As usual, I'm lost. Have we checked that door for traps yet? If not, Enos will offer to do so before Ian tries the handle.

"Of course. It's why I'm here. Keep an eye out for restless dead, if you don't mind."

Ardriel will have spent an MP for Recuperation, as well.
As Enos went to check the barred doors at the end of the hallway, Ardriel cast a spell to protect his mind from evil influences.
Protection from Evil cast, 10 minutes duration.
Dadna Cloudbreaker
With Ian's blade sheathed, Dadna took position to cover him while he worked to open the gate. "We are nearing our goal." She said, filled with her usual optimism. "By nightfall this fortress will be fully in the hands of the crusade once more."
Dadna Cloudbreaker
”We double back. I think there is one door we haven’t opened yet.” Dadna offered.
One part of the map that is still covered, let’s go check it out
Leothar
"Sounds good. Let's go. The vampire's spawn may still be around; I don't know what they would have done upon his destruction."
DM Trawets
The group goes back down the hallway a little and finds the gate to the north locked. Enos finds no traps and takes his time and opens the gate. The doors are locked as well and he opens them.
Two large prison cells flank this large interrogation chamber. The entryway to each cell is lined with multiple layers of arcane sigils scribed into the floor, lintels, and even the barred door. While the symbols around the western cell door glow with red light, those to the east do not and its prison door hangs open.
Enos Flamebrother
"Let me study those glyphs. Don't know if they are some sort of trap, but it sure feels like it must be. Or maybe someone with better arcane skill can study it? Cousin Ardriel?"
He doesn't want to disable anything until he knows what it's doing. Feels like a magic circle of protection rather than a trap for a portal.
Ardriel Zinro
"Wasn't there some succubus heretic or something like that that escaped and had Staunton worried? Maybe she was held here?"
Ardriel activates his detect magic ability and begins scanning the runes, while also attempting to understand them.

"Aye. Would this magic field hold such a fiend, then? Maybe one of you silver-tongued folk should try visiting with whoever's within. I won't unlock anything until we think we know who's within."

Why did I think the bars were keeping us out? (sorry that's rhetorical)
Nodding in agreement with Dadna nad Loethar, Ian follows along as they head to the last door. Relieved that Enos was able to 'pick the lock,' Ian stays out of the way as the tiefling and elf study the glyphs. Hearing Enos ask about 'visiting whoever's within' Ian shrugs and moves to the western door. Knocking on the door he calls out, "Hello, Hello, is anyone in there?"
Dadna Cloudbreaker
”At least the anti-magic will play to our strengths.” She said. ”Nay any annoying magic to confound or confuse. If I could I’d drag the area around with us.”
Enos Flamebrother
Are you looking at the west door or the east?
I thought East was inactive and open already. West was the target of my attention. Now I’m just confused.
Enos Flamebrother
”Shall I open it?”
He looks at the rest of the party for confirmation before potentially releasing a demon - if their sources were telling the truth.
Dadna Cloudbreaker
”Aye. We’ve a job to go and we can’t secure the keep until it is done.” She replied, her weapon at the ready.
Enos Flamebrother
Enos studies the lock and prepares to pick the lock.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (12) + 25 = 37
Enos Flamebrother
Enos looks confused, shrugs, and addresses the empty room, ”Ah, hello? We’ve come to evict the laggards that have been living here without a lease. I’m afraid you are going to have to leave.”
He stands outside the runes, just in case.
Ian Passeri
Having not seen anyone in the western cell, Ian isn't surprised that it seems empty. Wanting to make sure they haven't missed anything, informing the others. "I'll double check the eastern cell and we can head back upstairs." Walking into the eastern cell he takes a quick look around.
Taking 10(11) on perception in the eastern cell
Leothar
Leothar follows Ian around the rooms.
"Once we have finished the dungeon, we can clear out the remaining rooms of the citadel above."
DM Trawets
As soon as Ian enters the eastern cell that incessant demonic whisper ceases for him and any who follow him. The walls of this cell have been decorated with hundreds upon hundreds of butterfly images, scratched into the wall. On the northern wall a short pray has been scratched:
HEAR MY PRAYER, LADY LUCK. FOR IT IS LUCK I NEED IN ESCAPING THIS CELL. NOT JUST THE LIFE BEHIND THESE BARS, BUT AN ETERNITY SPENT SHACKLED TO THE ABYSS ITSELF. IF YOU TRULY ARE THE TENDER OF DREAMS, THEN TENDER UNTO ME A NEW EXISTENCE. LET ME SING THE SONG OF THE SPHERES, SEE THE STARS WITH NEW EYES, AND ESCAPE THE PIT INTO WHICH MY SOUL WAS CAST. BRING ME GOOD FORTUNE, MY LADY. BRING ME A NEW SPIRIT MADE CLEAN. AND I WILL FOREVER BE YOURS, IN LIFE, AND IN FAITH. I AM READY. FINALLY READY.
Ardriel Zinro
"I'd wager these cells were used for holding incredibly powerful, high value prisoners. That abyssal heretic must have been imprisoned here."
The elf looks at the butterflies and words on the walls. "How long was this heretic held prisoner, I wonder? It takes time to scratch messages and words into rock."
Dadna Cloudbreaker
”It always seemed to me that Desnans were one step from madness. It looks like whomever was in here was pushed over the edge.” Dadna said, sadly. ”Does this clear the keep? It would do well to get our army in here and to properly fortify this place.”
Enos Flamebrother
Enos pulls the western door shut and relocks it before following the others.
As he enters, he freezes in surprise.
”The prisoner… I feel her. I feel like I knew her. A long time ago…”
He pauses, "Perhaps I can repay a very, very old debt."
He starts searching for any sign of how she escaped, assuming she's actually not present. Was it a failure of the magic or did something else allow her escape and that happened later?
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Ian Passeri
Nodding in agreement with Leothar, "That makes sense, finish the keep while we have the angel watching the banner."
Carefully reading the words scratched into the cells, Ian read them a second time, smiling. Whoever had written the prayer, did not hide from what they believed and was willing to let their captors see it. As Ardriel wondered aloud abou the time, Ian said under his breath, not really meaning to speak aloud, "A long time indeed."
As Dadna commented about Desnans and asked about the keep, Ian snorts at the Dadna's viewpoint and returns his focus to the here and now. "As Leohar said, just the dungeon is clear, we still have to make sure the keep itself is safe."
Raising an eyebrow at Enos' comment about debt, Ian nods, "Debts should be repaid, and friends should aid, if there is something we can do, please ask."
As the tiefling searches the cell one last time, Ian turns towards the dwarves, "Back to the first level then?" As they walk towards the stairs, he considers the simplest of plans. "We came down from the tower in the northwest corner, should we sweep the building clockwise, towards the east and then south?"
