'They rely on darkvision, that makes sense, living down here and all.' Ian looks at Donnen and Loethar, 'Hhmmm, I wonder.' Pausing for a moment he shakes hands with Lann, "Thanks Lann, we look forward to seeing you again."

As Lann leaves, Ian points to his halo, "Because of the light they will see us before we see them, not a great logistical situations." He smiles looking at the dwarves, "Should we attack in two waives? One to surprise them and engage then the second to come support?" He looks at the others, "We could come running as soon as we heard the dwarves call out."

Donnen stares at Ian for a moment, scratching his beard.

Heh, lad, for a moment I thought you'd suggest for us tah' scout it. Not really me' cup o'tea, and I guess the same for Leothar.

He chuckles, visibly trying to control his noise. In different circumstances he'd be laughing out loudly.

It might be a good plan. - he finally says, continuing - Tho' I'd feel a lot better if we knew how many of these folks we're talking about and how prepar'd they are.

He pulls the giant-sticker over his shoulder, as if getting ready, but giving the others time to speak.

"That works for me, Ian. We'll be scouting of a sort, I suppose.
I can fight cautiously if they are many, until you can come join the battle. But if they are few, you may miss out on the action..."

He readies his axe and shield (still using his heavy shield) and prepares to move out.

The halo is extinguished and Leothar and Donnen head down the tunnel moving as silently as they can. The group listens to them walk down the tunnel. When the reach the end the tunnel opens into a cavern. Barricades made of heaped loose rocks and wooden boards bisect this cavern. Beyond the barricades, a wooden screen covers the lower half of a tunnel mouth. Manning the barricades are three mongrelmen, watching the opening clubs at the ready. As soon as they see Leothar they begin howling and shrieking.

"Oh no, Petsha! We couldn't possibly stay in the town where we'd be safe for a couple hours. It's much more important to be here in your way to make sure that you can't easily get to the fight again. We know you couldn't be happy without that!" Petsha stifles a sigh, knowing that his mocking thoughts of the citizens of Kenabres are unkind and not helpful at the moment. As such, he does his best to shove them to the back of his mind while he navigates past the three as carefully as he can to try to get into position where he'll have a better shot at the foes.

Petsha moves up behind Donnen and offers some covering fire as the dwarf begins his work to dismantle the barricade.

Just to be clear there is a gap in the barricade, it's hard to see on the map, by Leothar. If that changes anyone's actions you can retcon. Please mark any retcons as such.

Round 1

As Ardriel and Leothar approach the barricade they are attacked by clubs. The barricade works for Ardriel this time and Leothar's cautiousness keeps him safe, barely. The barricade is granting +4 AC from cover for both sides. They basically need to roll your AC to hit you if you are behind it. The gap is between Leothar and Red so no cover either way. I figured out border colors. Yea!

Mongrelman Ardriel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Mongrelman Leothar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Petsha puts an arrow into the northernmost mongrelman doing a fair bit of damage.

Donnen attacks the barricade and cause a rock to fall out of it, while Fley's arrow breaks when it hits it.

Attacking a barricade made of stone and wood that is a foot thick will take a lot of time to break through.

The mongrelmen swing their clubs again and miss.

'Need to distract the other one.' Drawing a chakram as he moves forward, Ian glares at the mongrelman on the left, blue yelling at him, "Hey you! Catch." he then throws the chakram at the fellow, clearly missing the man, but Ian can see the fear in his eyes.

Petsha breath catches as he sees Ardriel take the club to his shoulder and stagger. When elf stays on his feet, if barely, Petsha does his best to keep his attention on the mongrleman behind the barrier for now, trusting that his companion will be able to take care of himself for now.

Ardriel’s arm goes numb as he takes a powerful blow from a mongrelman’s club. Leothar cuts the mongrelman down, and Ardriel nods in thanks as he backs away from the barricades towards Petsha.

If needed, I’ll take a withdrawal action. Otherwise, just move back. I’m on mobile, so I can’t move my token.


Moving forward into the opeinig in the wall, Ian affirms Loethar's statement, "If you surrender you will be handed over to Chief Sull." Standing ready to attack if the mongrelman moves towards the door or himself.

Still should be room for a couple of attackers without giving up AOO, 20 ft move, readied action, if he moves Ian attacks: longsword

You were not threatened where you stood since Leothar killed him. You can drink a potion this round if you like, rather than move.

The mongrelman takes a step forward and attacks Ian but misses with his club. Ian the runs him through and he falls to the ground.

As the last of the defenders in the room falls, Petsha looks to Ardriel to see how he's holding up. As Ian opens the door he is confronted with a mongrelman right in front of him. An arrow flies past Ian's ear and right into the mongrelman's eye and he drops to the floor.

The second mongrelman steps forward and attacks Ian, his club clanging loudly off Ian's shield. Ian can see some lizard creature behind the mongrelman move up.

Donnen manages to stabilize the middle mongrelman. Ian attacks the one in the doorway and moves south. This gives Fley a good view of the cave lizard. They are know to hang on when the bite and their bite is poisonous.

Seeing Ian duck out of the way, Petsha takes the best shot he can manage at the injured mongrelman. He also nods at Fley's words. "Poison would be an issue, so avoiding that would be good."

Petsha fires his arrow and it hits the mongrelman square in the chest, he stands there swaying with his eyes glazed over.
