Two roaches remain in the fight and the one Fley poked turns to him and returns the favor by clamping down hard on his armor but very little getting through it. The on Leothar doesn't manage to do anything.

Leothar |

Leothar steps to get out of Donnen's way, and takes a swing at a roach.
Tired of missing, he is a bit more careful now. Turning off PA.

Sorry for the short post, posting from my phone! I can’t roll even if my life depends on it. Hate my d20s so far!

Fley Flaxon |

The roach bites at Fley, piercing his skin. Fley screams out in pain. That hurt! He'll pierce the roach in return.
Kukri Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Petsha Banica |

Furrowing his brow, Petsha once again aims at the cockroach to the north and lets another arrow fly.

The *thunk* as it hits its target is satisfying. As always, there's something to be said for persistence.

Ian Passeri |
Chuckling, "True, Leothar, just a matter of ..." Seeing Fley bitten, Ian stops joking. "Fley watch out, we have no way of healing you." Seeing Leothar shift and chop into the bug, 'Good, now we just need to finish them.' He dodges as Donnen's spear tip goes awry. Pulling the longsword out of the dead carcass, he hacks overhand at the cockroach to the south buring his sword tip in the sand.

Ardriel Zinro |

Ardriel tries to focus more as Yarnala, perched on his shoulder, says,
”Concentrate your aim. Focus on the target, and try to hit the mark.”
Ardriel feels something as Yarnala speaks, and he focuses on the roach.

I forgot I had a familiar who could cast guidance.

Fley Flaxon |

While the roach is busy trying to eat Lothar, Fley will stab it in the back.

"Damn bugs! I am not your dinner."
Leothar strikes at the one east of him with his axe.

Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Petsha Banica |

With two of the roaches down and more space available, Petsha makes a move with his bow to a position behind Leothar before taking aim at the remaining threat.
Longbow attack vs. the Cockroach: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Arrow Recovery if miss: 1d100 ⇒ 45
Unfortunately he fails to steady himself properly after the dash and his shot isn't true. His arrow shatters on the cavern wall behind his target.

Ian Passeri |
As Ardriel pierces the wounded bug, Ian pulls his sword out of the sand, jumping back away from the mandibles of the roach nearest him. Seeing both Fley and Leothar simultaneously strike down the other cockroach, Ian calls "Well struck! Let's see if we can finish off his last one before it sinks it's mandibles into someone." Pivoting on his right foot, He slashes at the remaining giant insect, slashing into the joint between head and thorax.

Leothar steps towards the roach and tries to finish it.

Ian Passeri |
Keeping the bug pinned as Donnen thrust his spear into the vermins thorax, 'Donnan has gutted this thing, that should .. "Aaaagggg" Ian Jumps back as the roach turns and tries to chomp him with it's mandibles, He pulls his sword loose, "Why isn't that thing dead?"almost losing his grip.
Relieved as the vermin is distracted by Fley rushing in, the bug skitters to the right and then to the left avoiding Leothar's axe as well. Adjusting his grip on his coldiron sword, "Thanks for rushing in and distracting it Fley, I thought it had me." Ian readjusts his stance, lowering his shield slightly and thrusts his longsword at the creature's head. But once again the cockroach skitters back. raising it's head, chittering at them. Ian rolls his eyes If I didn't know better I'd say it's laughing at us."
full attack: longsword
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 for damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Ardriel Zinro |

Not having line of sight to the last roach, and frustrated by his meager contribution, Ardriel decides to conserve arrows and instead keeps watch down the hallway they hadn't checked yet in case something came to investigate the sound of combat.
Delay for now. I don't think I can really get in on the beat-fest.

Petsha Banica |

Petsha takes another shot at the cockroach which is proving more challenging to finish than any in the group would have expected.
Longbow attack vs. the Cockroach: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8Arrow Recovery: 1d100 ⇒ 27

Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 - 1 = 9 PA
Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 + 3 = 12
Donnen swings and misses again.
'Ya know, aren't we glad we are fightin' a cockroach? Good sparring, I guess. Good ole' training. We for sure are needing it. - he says, as he seems to inspect the weapon with his eyes - Even our friend the roach seems to need som' training. Or glasses. Hah hah!

Leothar |

At first Leothar is concerned at Donnen's tempting of Fate.
But the roach fails to pierce his sturdy armor, and the dwarf retaliates with a mighty blow.
"Hah! Now die!"
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Not exactly the epic victory that Kenabres needs right now... but one step at a time. Stay alive.

Ian Passeri |
ninja'd by Leothar, will edit, but i'm leaving the crit., cause it's a crit, for pity sake.
'Yikes.' Ducking as Petha's arrow splinters above him, Apparently we all need practice.' Ian smiles as Donnen misses then jokes about it. Seeing the bug shift forward and attempt to bite Leothar, just as Leothar strikes the bug, splitting it's head between the antenna's. Not taking any chances, Ian thrust his longsword at the joint between the thorax and abdomen separating the two body parts. He then wipes his sword off in the sand, looking at Donnen, smiling. "I think that will end our practice for today."

DM Trawets |

As the roach misses it leaves it's neck open to Leothar and he chops it off just like it was an execution. Ian following quickly behind splits the rest wide open. As things quiet down you can now hear Anvenn say "Ah, he just ended it. The fights over." Aravashnial replies with some disbelief, "You mean it took them that long to kill three measly roaches?!?!" Anvenn then brings Aravashnial to where you all can see him. "That was ridiculous! We need to have a talk. If I had my eyesight that would have been over, like that!", he says as he snaps his fingers. "How much experience do you have fighting demons? Cause that's what we are going to face soon enough and these tactics are going to get all of us killed. What can each of you do so we make sure things go better next time." Anvenn looks slightly embarrassed but nods to Aravashnial's words.

Ardriel Zinro |

Ardriel, looking somewhat embarrassed, says, "I'm...actually not experienced fighting demons at all. I'm a jeweler by trade. Yarnala, a raven sent to me by Yuelral, is the one who told me to bring my equipment - otherwise I might not have even had it. However, I think I can improve by focusing more on my aim and not getting too concerned with watching the fight. That way I can do better next time."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Leothar |

"Your pardon, Aravashnial, but I think we handled that fairly well. It was over in less than a minute, and we were barely scratched. Torag teaches the value of a strong defense. In this situation, with no healing available, I would hope any future fights go like that one did.
Patience and prudence may yet win the day for us.
The one suggestion I do have, and this is no slight to our Gnome friend, is that Fley's efforts might be better employed in helping the larger weapons land solid blows."
Fley could use Aid Another, if he is only doing 1d3 damage.

Petsha Banica |

Petsha, once the lack cockroach is down, looks down and closes his eyes he listens to Aravashnial's words. I might not have experience fighting demons, and if I keep preforming like this I likely won't have more than once chance to. Erastil grant me the skill to learn and improve.
"Can't say that I've done much fighting at all myself. Hunting certainly, and they share some traits, but they're not the same thing. I've learned to approach the quarry undetected, find the shot and avoid hitting my fellow hunters on the occasions I work with them, but this place, these conditions, they're new to me. If you have pointers to give you've got my ear. This wasn't the entry to the crusades I was expecting, but it's the situation we're in, so I'm ready to make it work."

Ian Passeri |
'Took you that long?' His smile waning, Ian Sheaths his longsword as Aravashnial begins to rant. ’Ridiculous? His eyesight?' His eyes falling on Arvashnial Experience fighting demons?' then return to Anvenn, 'Who does he think he is?' Ian looks back at the blinded elf, seeing the injured man with a bloody bandage wrapped around his head. 'He's a frightened injured man in a strange place surrounded by strange people.' Ian's face relaxes as he starts to move nearer to the elf. Yes he's right, he has good cause to be afraid.'
As he nears he speaks softly. "Aravashnial, I am Ian Passeri. I am the son of Elek Passeri and Valda Aslougsdottir both servants of The Lady of Valor. I am but a squire, at the celebration with my little sister. I have never fought a demon, though I've probably been closer than most my age because I have survived a demonic attack." He smiles and points at the cockroaches. "Here we not only survived unscathed, but we won against an apocalyptic surviving opponent in its own environment"
He moved a little closer to the elf, "Are you a man of Faith Aravashnial? Do you believe we each have a purpose? Do you believe in Fate?" Resting his hand on Aravashnials shoulder. "Because I do. I have to believe that Terendelev’s sacrifice was not in vain. I have to believe that we will survive this cave and it's denizens. I have to believe that when we surface what we've experienced here will help us survive there." He breathes a sigh. "I believe Aravashnial, do not fear, I believe enough for the both of us."
I don't know if he really wanted an assessment of our fighting skills, or if he just wants reassured. So diplomacy is all I got
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Wow this roll sucks, should have saved that 18 from the crit.
maybe we can use it as an 'aid another' with Ardriel

DM Trawets |

Aravashnial sighs and says "If you had that much of a problem with a few roaches a demon will have you for breakfast. That is what I am trying to avoid. I have faced demons before, I know what they are capable of. Learn what I have to teach and more of these demons can be killed. Was there anything of value in there to make the fight worth something?"
After a search you turn up atorn bedroll, three candle stubs (each can burn for 30 minutes), a bent fishhook, 10 feet of badly frayed hemp rope, and a copper brooch depicting a bat perched on a mushroom.

Fley Flaxon |

Forgot about Aid Another - we never used it in my last campaign. Will probably start using it as 1d3 damage is so low!
Up until a week ago, on my 106th birthday, I was a coward. I hate to admit it, but I was. I had a brief encounter in the Worldwound in my young adult life that scarred me. But that's a story for another time.. Fley takes a second to collect his thoughts. I worked hard teaching the small folk survival skills they may need, but myself? I was petrified of joining the crusades. A week ago, on my 106th birthday, I received a sign from my god - Tanagaar. An owl landed on my window sill. That sign gave me the courage, the courage to go out and join this fight. I was planning on going out into the Worldwound at the end of the week.
But this fight against the cockroaches showed me just how weak I am. I'm capable outside of combat though. With the right teachers, the right training, and enough time, I'm sure I can take down some demons.
After talking with the rest of the group and looking at the items in the bag, he pulls out the brooch. A bat, eh? Is this a holy symbol of some sorts?

Leothar |

Leothar looks at Fley. "One hundred and six? That could be significant. Were you born before, or after? After... everything happened."
I am not sure of the exact date, but I think Wrath of the Righteous starts around 4712 or 4713 AR, which might make Fley born in the very eventful year of 4606 AR, the dawn of the Age of Lost Omens and the opening of the Worldwound.

Donnen Phelps |

Just as a heads up, 94 should be the maximum for a starting gnome (40 + 9d6, assuming it's "Trained", the maximum). Donnen is on his mid-60s. Reference Here
'Ya know, what you truly lack is faith. - says Donnen towards Aravashnial - Demons are pretty much like roaches themselves... Just worse. Because they're not only disgusting, but coward as well.
He approaches, still letting his voice sound strong and loud.
Ay'ma paladin of Torag. There's no place for fear or mercy. I despise evil and will fight it until the last fiber of my body. Until da' weapons in mah hands are no more, until mah very last breath. The Hammer will guide me. It will guide us. Don't be so quick tah' judge my iron for a few misguided swings.
As he challenges demons and evil itself, he lets his eyes surround the environment, catching in his cone of view - or cones, if needed - all the present. He tries to catch people reactions - and a little more.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
And very much detect evil all around.

Leothar |

I believe Fley asked for and received permission to start a bit older to qualify for the Breadth of Experience feat. The timing with 4606 AR may or may not be coincidence...

DM Trawets |

Donnen concentrates on evil and finds none in the area. Aravashnial seems to be a fairly competent person (5-7HD), confident in his abilities though frightened due to his loss of sight. Hogus is a little less competent (3-5 HD) and an arrogant,self-important nobleman with a grating personality, though he seems honest. Anvenn is the same as Horgus (3-5 HD), he seems worried about more than just being trapped down here.

Ian Passeri |
'Anything of value in there worth fighting for? hhhmmmm not physically, tactically we removed a threat from the rear and stratigically learned more about each others strengths and weaknesses. Focusing on the conversation around him, Ian looks towards the gnome, 'A coward? and came to the wound at 106? attacked bugs as big as himself with a kukri? That's not coward, strange how we view ourselves....curious broach.' he does take note of the odd broach. focusing back on the conversation as Leothar notes Fley's age. 'Is one hundred and six old for a gnome? I wonder if it's rude to ask about a gnomes age.' Ian hears Donnen addressing Aravashnial, not knowing whether to cringe or chuckle. 'Lack or faith? ouch, but calling demons roaches was funny.' Smiling a little he nods. 'Ah Donnen is a Paladin of Torag, no lack of Faith there. Of course his order would not have released him out without anointing him and sending him out.'
As they had been looking around the area during the conversation, Ian begins to shake his head, realizing he was answering the blind mans question he speaks up. "No Aravashnial, it doesn't appear that there was anything of value here, possibly this copper brooch depicting a bat perched on a mushroom, but that would be it." He looks at the others then, gestures the way they came. "Shall we continue deeper into the cave?" As they reform their marching order, Ian continues speaking to Arvashnial, "But you are right Arvashnial there will always be more we need to learn, and I for one would appreciate any instructions you can give me."
On the road again?

Examining the broach Ian sees it has amethyst eyes but otherwise it means nothing to him.
Arvashnial "I was hoping for more supplies or potions. Speaking of which, have you tried to identify those yet? You are right Ian, time to move forward."
The group moves forward to the next cavern and sees several mounds of rock lie in heaps in this cavern, recently fallen from the walls and ceiling. Now and then, bits of dust settle from cracks in the stone above.

Ardriel Zinro |

Before the Snake
Ardriel heard Fley’s description of his experience and says, ”106? You’re almost as old as I am, Fley. I’m 110.”
”We have not identified the potions yet. The little magic I was able to learn before my father disappeared is only usable once a day, so I thought we’d wait until we rested for the night to use it in case we find more things.”

Fley Flaxon |

Yep. 106. We're the old men crew! Oh the stories I could tell.
Those are potions alright. I've never really been a potion gnome myself so I couldn't tell you what they were.
As they all turn the corner, Fley spots something slither out of the corner of his eye. Whats that? he asks to no one in particular. As his eyes focus, Snake!

Petsha Banica |

Hearing the cries of "Snake!" Petsha holds his bow at the ready and scans the area to see if it's anywhere he can see.
Delay action until the others have had a chance to go. Hopefully you'll take care of this one quickly as I can't do anything much from back here.

Ardriel Zinro |

There were a lot of people between him and the snake. Still, he could try to shoot through the crowd.
Or, he could acknowledge that he had no real way to affect the snake at the moment, and wait until there were fewer people between him and the snake.
Delay until the path in front of me clears up a bit.

Fley will rush up past Leothar. Snakey snake! Look over there!

Donnen looks at his companions and the new foe. Now, a snake. For moments, he stops to wonder that, despite the many decades of life between them, they’re all just inexperienced, and it shows. Yet, they’re trained; and he knows they’re ready. He won’t take anything less than that. He swings his weapon with anger and violence.
